On the lookout for older VCs, Panerai radiomir, or abundant datejust - this hobby could get costly lol but the orient is superior to anything in that price range, quality manufacture if not so fancy, sure catches the eye

Hi Teddy, what a great work u are providing. Could you tell us a little bit more about how value the watches in different ranges? What makes u put them in these videos instead of others? Just pure looks or are there more to it?
Shout out to Islander Watches for the quality of their selection under $300, I have just received an ISL-20 (Seiko SKX013 continuation model) from them and it is an excellent watch for the money! I do like the look of some of the Orient Bambino's too I must say...
@@bronco1199 China, however the material quality and fit/finish is rather good. Seiko watches have two variants one international and the other Japan but the Japan one is more expensive than the international version just so you know.
Almost bought myself a orient kamasu dive watch but I decided to splurge a bit for a Seiko alpinist instead. Really wanted my first automatic watch to feature a movement display on the back and the alpinist has such a nice form factor imo. Anyhow, just wanted to say a quick thank you. Your videos have really helped me over the past few weeks as I attempted to wrap my head around watches again. I used to love them as a child but always ended up breaking them; and knowing what I do now, I am really not all that surprised.
I cant believe Deep blue have never been mentioned by Teddy. They do dive watches with T100 tritium, Seiko movments, sapphire crystal, 500M water resist, All for $200 They can get more expensive depending on the dept rating and if you want one with more tritium than just the indicies and if you want a swiss movment in the watch, but everything ive mentioned earlier comes in the watch for 200 quid. They are insane value, and I cant figure out why they are not talked about.
@@atourdeforce dude i love everything about them except the 15mm-16mm thickness that's a big boy. I love the abalone and the dials but that shit is big, all the other reviews and comments on over videos confirm as much. Beautiful chonks.
@@MemoryUtilizer They have watches that are 14mm thick. An Aquis is 13mm a Submariner is 13mm a deep sea is 17.2mm. There is no way you would tell me those watches are too thick or that you wouldn't wear them, because we both know you'd almost certainly be telling a lie. It's hard to believe that you're not a little closed minded, judging by your comments because they don't exactly make a whole lot of sense. Dive watches are naturally very thick, so to tell me you don't like these because they are too thick doesn't exactly make the most sense in the world to me tbh. They are an absolutely fantastic watch, they look amazing and are about the best or some of the best quality watches out there for the price. These are proper dive watches not just a nice looking watch thats made to look like a dive watch and called a dive watch. You're not going to get a 10 or 11mm proper diver. Incase or before you do please don't say a Seamaster. Again you're 100% allowed not to like a thick watch, but don't come back at me with the sole reason of them not being a good watch because they're too thick.
Excellent review Teddy. The MDV106 is ridiculous value. I also like your totally unbiased attitude to the (so-called) Seiko 5KX range. A superb everyday/sports watch at a very good price. Seiko's old values are still there in the Seiko 5 range.
100% this. Even if i had 5k to spend on a watch, i would ask myself if i like it that much. Because most people dont see or care the difference of a 300 or 5000 watch. But put 4700 into an index fund and see how much that is in 30 years from now (its 50k at 8%)
Thanks teddy for make this kind video, some TH-cam don’t make this kind video anymore because they did it few years ago, every year is different . Thanks 😊
I got my wife a 34mm green-on-gold Marlin for Christmas, and she loves it. I love it too, to the point where she keeps threatening to hide it so I can't steal it for myself.
Surprised you didn't mention any microbrands. I think brands like Helm, Zelos, Spinnaker, & Dan Henry offer some of the best value and designs in this price range.
I love my Marathon GSAR. Its accurate, durable, basically a tank. My only complaint is the face of the watch is very busy. But in the middle of the night when I need to see my watch it shines bright.
A month ago I bought the Casio Duro Marlin MDV 106, and DAMN. I'm amazed with it, it's my daily watch, and sometimes I sleep with it. I have only change it once because I had a formal meeting. But it's really lightweight and not that big, I have a 7 ½ wrist, but it isn't uncomfortable. 100% recommended
I also think most people (even if they have the money) can't justify spending over like 400 for a watch. Also there are affordable watch collectors like me who just aren't interested in hyper (hype being the operative word) expensive watches because they just don't seem worth it or aren't interesting. For instance I'd rather have a Vostok than a rolex submariner, it's just more interesting to me and can be modified and tinkered with to my heart's content, doesn't cost an arm and a leg to service or you can just replace the movement for cheap (after it running for 10 years)...and doesn't have all that snobbery associated with it and most importantly I can wear a Vostok or any of those watches above without feeling paranoid of damaging it or getting mugged!
Great video Teddy, brilliant photography as well. I think I need to have a look into the Orient collection at some point. I like the inclusion of the G-Shock digital as these are arguably one of the best beater watches out there but (to me anyway) have a classic style. Good to see Citizen as well as I've never had and issue with ones that I've had. I love my Swiss automatics but still find time for my quartz set and go watches.
very comprehensive list, I like it. I am a huge Dan Henry fan so i would say they win for me on the value for money front, but that final CASIO watch was beautiful.
I still have my first watch I got when i was 6years old. It's a bit small for me now(27mm lug to lug - face is about the size of a dime).. that was 49years ago. It was a timex. Yup, it still spins when I wind it up. It was probably 10bucks back then. I don't know the model - it doesn't say on it. Too bad the folks didn't buy me a Rolex.... great episode, sorry for the flashback...🥃 Note - i had to subscribe ..🙌
I bought the Timex Q Reissue last week for summer. It was not only about the price, for me it's one of the most beautiful "diver watches" (just the style) and also fits my small wrist perfectly. I'm very happy with this watch.
Lots of excellent suggestions here. Too often when YT:ers title their video "best watches under $300" most watches are just a tad below $300. Here we got a quite diverse price range IMHO. Great work, Teddy.
You're hitting me where I live... BUT I am bummed that to many watchmakers are not as hung up on the second hand "hitting the mark" as I am. Regardless, This was full of desirable watches! Being married to an accountant/MBA, however, makes it dicey to sneak a purchase on an inexpensive watch. With all the cards paid off, I am a DEAD man if I go buck-wild with my watch passion. "Whipped"? Sure... but it is SMART to listen to her, plus she makes 3X what I do. :/
Teddy is one of my favorite watch reviewers. She has is an easy, unassuming, get-to-brass-tacks kinda guy. The only thing I wish he would do differently is a "wrist check" at some point of his videos. I respect his opinions enough to want to know what HE'S wearing.😉👍

That Orient Kano is superb, also sick with red bezel and black dial. Looks great on curved rubber straps, natos and elastic parachute strap. Could you also do a same video but for women? This price range would be great for gift to the better half, and finding some great options to choose from.
The last 5-7 mins are great watch to wear ! Awesome ! Flexible price and watch that look more expensive then it looks! I not rich enough to wear those $1000 - $5000 yet ! But these ones are close to home! Awesome introducing and review!

Nah I feel you! Sometimes I want to wear my nice watch and sometimes I want something that doesn't matter if it gets destroyed but is still horologically interesting! Love my Vostok Amphibia
Nothing weird about it. A Vostok Amphibia is a piece of history and though their movements get flack, they're tunable and don't need servicing for 10 years. A huge value-for-money-for-history proposition.
Honestly I'd rather have a Vostok than a tudor or rolex, because first they are less interesting to me, and I'd just never wear them, and would feel paranoid wearing it, of damaging it or getting mugged!
Love these lists! I noticed that you have a few G-Shocks in your online shop. Love them but you seem to have a limited number … for now. I guess I can take for granted that you’ll be adding more as time goes on. Thanks for sharing.

Just scored a Kamasu, red dial, bargain price - She's a beauty, couldn't be happier. On the lookout for older VCs, Panerai radiomir, or abundant datejust - this hobby could get costly lol but the orient is superior to anything in that price range, quality manufacture if not so fancy, sure catches the eye
I have the Seiko SRPD51. Wear it everyday and it serves its purpose. The best part about it that I don't have to worry much getting around while wearing it.
Hi Teddy, what a great work u are providing.
Could you tell us a little bit more about how value the watches in different ranges?
What makes u put them in these videos instead of others? Just pure looks or are there more to it?
Another great vídeo,Teddy. I bought my Orient Mako II ( blue dial) mainly because of your review at the time. Greetings from Brazil!
Shout out to Islander Watches for the quality of their selection under $300, I have just received an ISL-20 (Seiko SKX013 continuation model) from them and it is an excellent watch for the money!
I do like the look of some of the Orient Bambino's too I must say...
Where are the Islanders made?
@@bronco1199 China, however the material quality and fit/finish is rather good. The bezel/dial/chapter ring lines up unlike some examples of the skx series, and quality wise is several orders of magnitude better than those cheap Ali express watches you can get. You get your money's worth that's for sure.
OK thanks for the reply. They look great, good specs etc...
They are insane value, and I cant figure out why they are not talked about.
they have a super large case thickeness that is built for giants. I keep looking their watches but my wrist will not abide
@@MemoryUtilizer That's every PRACTICAL dive watch ever. Even the deep sea is massive and extremely thick. Seems you just don't like dive watches.
It's lame to get into financial troubles over non-necessities like wrist watches. So inexpensive watches make so much more sense.
100% this. Even if i had 5k to spend on a watch, i would ask myself if i like it that much. Because most people dont see or care the difference of a 300 or 5000 watch. But put 4700 into an index fund and see how much that is in 30 years from now (its 50k at 8%)
That Sternglas looks fantastic. Thanks for including. A perfect ready to go watch.

As much as micro brand are on social media Instagram and other no need to mention them
Although controversial. We can't deny Invicta is great value for your money.
And what about Chinese watches from Aliexpress? A lot of them give you more value for money than even the cheapest Seiko 5's nowadays.
No $$$ in it for him!
@@Kwantummeekanniks Don't buy Seikos off Ali! I bet they are fake

I love my Marathon GSAR. Its accurate, durable, basically a tank. My only complaint is the face of the watch is very busy. But in the middle of the night when I need to see my watch it shines bright.
Busy lol try a Seiko Flightmaster!
Nice list with good choices. One peeve of a lot of watches: date window too small to be useful. Either make it larger or don't put it in.
Real nice vid, 34 mm timex ..seems like smaller case sizes are making a comeback. I was doing 40mm but 38 mm is calling me...
We’ll I think that orient maestro may be my first watch. love the look.
I got my first mechanical watch a month ago, the Seiko SKNL23 for 98$!
Are mechanicals better than quartz? How is it feeling?
down the the rabbit hole we go lol enjoy
@@Bogdan52551 It is not better in terms of accuracy but I believe better in terms of value. It feels that the watch has a heart. :)
@@rtime4269 Yeah, my Kamasu is on its way! Longines might be next 😂
@@iEcosanHD i cant wait to get my first automatic. I have been wearing quartz my whole life
I have a Q Timex with original dial , I really like it and would like the green and black model as well and I have no problem with the bracelet .
Wow.... A week ago I ordered a Orient Defender 2 and it's actually waiting for me to pick it up in the post office. It's cool to see it on this list
Needed this, thanks!
I have the blue Kamasu and black Duro. 100% agree, they both punch above their price.
I really like the look of the Sternglas!
been wearing the Blue Duro. I love it soo much. Would also recommend the Cadisen C1032 as a fantastic dress watch!
Folks Teddy is the best if you are starting in collecting watches. Tons of educational information. Thanks Teddy!🤓👍
I got a Vostok amphibia earlier in the week. Absolutely loving it. Bargain and a really interesting piece
Where did you buy/order it from?
@@xXNickPXx eBay. Sellers name was “bestrus”
I'll be picking up that Orient Canoe in Red for sure! Thanks!
very comprehensive list, I like it.
Too bad the folks didn't buy me a Rolex.... great episode, sorry for the flashback...🥃
Note - i had to subscribe ..🙌
Wearing my Timex Q Falcon Eye today. I also own the pepsi q, and the hodinkee and toddy snyder q collabs. Love my Qs.
Amazing selection, great video and love the show.
Thanks for sharing this, looking at a few different siekos under $300, so I'm grateful for some other models that I should consider.
Just got my first Kamasu really excited first legit watch I have bought thanks to you for showing me a great watch that is legit I was stuck in the vincerro hype for a while and when I learned more about watches just did not feel confident wearing them anymore I am now excited to wear Kamasu with confidence
The Kamasu is on my list. I think it’s a stunning watch and great to see it on this list.
Just got a 90's tag heuer basically unused for $250, very happy :)
Thanks for introducing me to Orient. What a brand!
Fantastic job! 👍🏻👍🏻
Orient always have a special place in my heart.
my favorite one that I have and prolly my favorite one is the Orient Kanno (Blue & Orange)
the quality is amazing and the movt... Cal F6922 is just on point!
Already subscribed ! Love your edition and content! Maan those Orient Kano and Kamasu WOOOOOW , they are going to be my next purchase, love them !!
Is it weird that I just bought a new Tudor BB yet I also want a Vostok? I have a problem.
Nah I feel you! Sometimes I want to wear my nice watch and sometimes I want something that doesn't matter if it gets destroyed but is still horologically interesting! Love my Vostok Amphibia
@@royfarrand1268 I appreciate not making it feel like I'm a crazy person. 😂
Nothing weird about it. A Vostok Amphibia is a piece of history and though their movements get flack, they're tunable and don't need servicing for 10 years. A huge value-for-money-for-history proposition.
A true enthusiast
Honestly I'd rather have a Vostok than a tudor or rolex, because first they are less interesting to me, and I'd just never wear them, and would feel paranoid wearing it, of damaging it or getting mugged!

Hi teddy. I’m trying to save money to buy an expensive watch but with videos like this one I can’t!!! Lol
Have 4 of these, 5 if you include the SKX, and love every one. Solid recommendations.
Awesome video, Teddy!! Very educational :)
Love these lists!
I noticed that you have a few G-Shocks in your online shop. Love them but you seem to have a limited number … for now. I guess I can take for granted that you’ll be adding more as time goes on.
Thanks for sharing.
Teddy, great videos sir! Thank you for posting.
Glad I found this video cuz am thinking of buying my self my 1st watch soon
Teddy, as someone who likes Sinn and Junghans you also should have a look at the less well-known but historic German brands, e.g. Laco (1925), Stowa (1927), and Hanhart (1882). Laco and Stowa are offering a variety of military/pilot watches and Hanhart many sports chronographs.
Sensible watches without the ego. Love it
I really like the red/maroon Orient. Looks more expensive than it is.
Thank you for the introduction to the watches in the price range. I personally want to get the Casio Duro but it's not available in my hometown.
