@teddybaldassarre love this. Question: Was debating between Tissot PRX, Gentlemen and Hamilton Khaki (but specifically KING AUTO with day and date at 12) was wondering thoughts on best move for everyday watch. First big watch purchase
I love the F91W. When I travel on my adventures I give these away to people, I meet, that don’t, or never will be able to have a watch. It’s amazing how many people live their lives never knowing what time it is.
My grandson was the first kid to have a watch at school and now he is the only one to have an analogue watch. They don't even teach kids how to write properly or tell analogue time. 7:08
@@twsbibanghorn7343 To be fair, it's the parents responsibility to teach their kid to tie their shoes and read a clock. Like it is how to take a dump (if that's an issue), and how to eat with a knife and fork. Reading analog time is in that same category. If you rely on daycare to do that for you, you failed as a parent IMO (you as in the parents you describe, not you in particular ;)).
Teddy, I like that you care about the people who are just getting into the hobby. Young people and ones who don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on the big brands. God bless you!
you can get into collecting guitars or rare vinyl for less than 1000 dollars a pop. Skip watches. Pretentious nonsense. (or play more golf and talk about stock trends??)
Teddy this was an absolutely excellent video. All of your videos are excellent, but this one was especially insightful. I'm a huge fan of yours, keep up the work.

The Seiko Speedtimer is INCREDIBLE. Friend of mine bought one for his kid and couldn’t believe how good it looks in person. One of those watches that look ten times more expensive than they are.
I love that you mentioned laco! It’s absolutely amazing that you can get such iconic watches for great prices , with the pedigree and quality that is crazy for that price range. Hopefully I’ll treat myself to one this year.

As far as icons go, I feel that the Hamilton PSR deserves a mention- not necessarily in the video, but definitely in the comments. Being the first digital quartz watch did start off a whole new area of watch design- even though LCD displays took over a short while later.
I couldn't agree more with your selections. However, if you're open to considering a few more contenders, I'd love to consider: Tissot Visodate (1953, reintroduced 2010), also Tissot T Classic Longines Conquest (I think 1953?) Doxa Sub 200 (1967) Q Timex (1979) Seiko SKX007 (1996) even if you mentioned the Turtle, the SKX is iconic itself Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Diver (1995 or 96)
MaMaCoo You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
Teddy - as always - handsome and awesome! Thank you for this selection and explanations to each model & brand. I own none of them by now - but you made me reconsider some left overs from my wish-list...
Had other watches on this list. Great watches for their prices. And still have my $35 DW-9052 (black with yellow accents), that is absolutely incredible, and lot of 56xx... I would have added the World Timer to the list, it's also something iconic in its own right.
Can’t beat gold polished Roman numerals that sparkle like jewels in the sunlight. Loving the sun ray dial man that pops! amzwatch watches. What a beautiful subtle piece.
Great video! There are so many low cost watches with style and individuality such as the Invicta Pro Diver and Seagull 1963. Look forward to seeing more of these videos.
The Glycine Airman is a great pick, but don't overlook their Combat Sub. It's the best Field/Dive watch combination for the money. It's available in a wide range of dial colors and finish options.
@@TeddyBaldassarre No debate from me on that point. I own a modern Airmen and regularly wear it as my travel watch. And as a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, I'm a big fan of the name 😉

Out of all the watches I own, Seiko Speedtimer gets the most eyeballs & as a bonus sits on my small wrist perfectly. It punches above its range when it comes to finishing & looks. Thanks for mentioning it last year and I have recommended it to many.

I would like to see another video of this type, but in stead of specific watches, perhaps talk about how certain brands have influenced or revolutionized the industry.
@OleMisss yeah I love seiko I've never heard of the alpinist though I'll look Into it thanks. I'm about to get a blue face or green gentlemen.. ive only had the prx love it just not the biggest fan of the bracelet. I think the prx was their best watch until their newest pr516 chrono. It's just alittle out of my price range right now.. we'll a lot actually.
@OleMisss I love the seiko spd453 but when I saw the price i changed my mind. I can't justify spending 1300 dollars on a seiko. The ssc813 is a little better but still about 800 for a seiko is crazy. I'm used to seiko being a 150 to 300 tops for automatic mechanical watches. These new prices 670 to 1800 is insane. I mean for these prices I'd go tissot a swiss made movement good quality and good name. Tissot is more known as a good luxury entry level swiss watch while seiko is usually known as a macys special 150 dollar watch. I mean don't get me wrong amazing time pieces but not for 600 or 1300 dollars. That's insane.
Great video, very accurate analysis. In my 4.5 years in the game as a watch collector and enthusiast, I collected a lot from amzwatch I was thinking I was able to get a blue SD but I'm not vip enough, but I'm not giving up. Hehe. Great video.
I meant to comment on your previous video "Reacting to the 50 Most Important Watches of all Time", specifically to your inclusion of the Glycine Airman, a watch I love and own and one that I've championed for several years now. As a pilot for over 50 years and flying professionally for over 40, I wore a 1983 Rolex Pepsi GMT for most of my career, and 32+ years as my "one" watch. In 2018 when my one pilot owned Pepsi [complete full set] was appraised for ridiculous money, I purchased an Airman, 42mm Base 22 model as my everyday working/flying watch. Thank you for helping to champion this unloved classic.
Interesting video, thank you. Glad that my original 1980’s Swatch is kind of in there, which makes way for my military issue CWC dive watch as a daily driver, and my Evidenza dress watch when the occasion calls for it. Maybe a bit over your $1000 on the last one, but truly iconic.
I have the Laco leipzig mechanical hand-wound on a leather strap...absolutely loving it, even more than some of my more expensive watches. I would have only wanted a day indicator like Stowa but damn, I absolutely love the Laco; very underrated!
I have had the SSC813 for a while but have not been wearing it too often because it’s supposed to not require wrist time to keep running unlike the mechanical ones. Just gave it some more wrist time this week and it’s actually growing on me, the sporty bezel and pushers give a very sporty vibe, although the brushed top and polished side finishes are quite odd.
My pick for the two g shocks would be the 5600 series and the 6900 series over the 9052 series. I choose the 6900 because it also was issued to the military and was also one of the few watches to receive a NATO stock number, but made a much larger impact in the civilian sphere - especially in the realm of fashion. Everybody from Pharrell to Justin Bieber to Spike Lee had on the 6900!
Also, the picture at 11:09 was likely of the 6600 series, not the 9052! The 6600 was discontinued, and the 9052 replaced it in 2010 as a watch given to new SEALs during training.
I'm so glad you mentioned Glycine. I think they're one of the most underrated brands out there. I work on the ocean in the North Pacific, and I've been wearing a bronze combat sub in some of the harshest environments imaginable. It has taken everything that the elements can throw at it, from snow and freezing ocean spray to hard knocks and scrapes. It's supremely comfortable, tough, has great lume and keeps excellent time. I also own an Airman and it is a timeless classic that can be worn with just about anything and look great. Keep up the great work Teddy, you're responsible for initiating a great many of us into the watch collecting community.
Iconic watches under $1G makes sense as you can have iconic watches at all price points. Bark & Jack did a video on his "Affordable Grail". Wonder if he is going to do a video on "Affordable Grail Under $50" next.
I'd say the first omission would be the Casio AE1200WH a.k.a. the Casio Royale. The modding community has embraced this $30. copy of a Seiko G757, which was worn by Roger Moore in the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy and turned it into a bit of a subculture of it's own. I have a AE1200WH-1A that I've easily taken apart, scrubbed almost ALL that janky-looking lettering off except for the Casio name with 91% Isopropyl alcohol and a Q-Tip, then filled the case with silicone oil before reassembly and I replaced the band with a really nice blue leather with tan twine stitching, Ritche watchband I paid $20 for on Amazon. It's so cool! 😎👍 I get a LOT of compliments on it and it's actually a much more interesting conversation piece because of what it is, than the same common Rolex you see all the time that needs no introduction.
I see that the G shock gets a lot of love but the Casio Pro Trek line gets overlooked quite a bit as a watch worn by outdoor and mil folks. The current PRG 340SC-2 offering from the Pro-Trek line offers a multitude of options that are highly needed by outdoor and military members, the price point is well under $500.
I’ve had my F91 for 8 years now, it’s my work watch. It’s all beat up and it’s got cement and paint splattered all over. I actually use it everyday to time when I’m mixing thinset. 💪
I think the orient bambino deserves a mention (in part 2 maybe), as well as the tissot prx (which marked the beginnings of a whole slew of affordable 70's style integrated bracelet sports watches, while simultaneously pulling from its own archives) and I do also consider the Moonswatch (yes the fatigue I know, but still the attention it drew and the inspiration it gave for further plasic collabs - see the new Tag Heuer)
For my birthday my wife bought me a SEIKO SSC913P1. It's a lovely watch, it looks great and it does what it needs to do very well but sadly, even at 41.4mm it looks a little small on my 8" wrist and doesn't quite sit right. I now have my eye on a 44mm from Longines.

When it comes to fine imitation watches, amzwatch delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
You know Teddy so badly wanted to put the Junghans Max Bill on this affordable iconic list.
I love my DW5600E, I wear it almost every day!
What an amazing outcome for a beautiful watch. Always a pleasure to see MAMACOO work your magic. Thanks for sharing this transformation with us!
amzwatch has set a new standard for replica watches. Their craftsmanship is impeccable. Its hard to tell the difference from the originals
Iconic watches under $1G makes sense as you can have iconic watches at all price points. Bark & Jack did a video on his "Affordable Grail". Wonder if he is going to do a video on "Affordable Grail Under $50" next.
Great job, congratulations. Excelent watches
Wonderful video thank you
Love the mention of the Glycine Airman!
When people are saying #amzwatch is a better option for buying a watch,I very much agree!
Thank you for mentioning Glycine. I've never heard of them but I think I'm going to buy one now.
I think you missed the Hamilton PSR, without it we would not have any modern displays.
Ooo I would like any of these. Great list. The 5 or Speedtimer for me though.
