    I have nothing but admiration for folk who can get their head round this sort of tech, make it work and not be gimmicky, it all looks promising and useful, when switching the tv on, obviously you need the aerial and sound bar for it to work and it makes so much sense for it all to be coordinated by the touch of one button, great stuff, look forward to the next instalment!

      Thanks Paul. Really appreciate the support and comment - half the battle I think is making sure an idea is a solution to some form of problem which makes life a little easier. It’s when it’s installed and in use on a trip when it will show what gets used and what doesn’t. Thanks again, David 👍

    Hi David. Just subscribed as this is something that I often thought about doing before discovering you are doing all the hard work for me 😂. I have fitted remote relays that control my caravan main power and lights from a key fob. I have also fitted a number of other gadgets including CCTV, reverse camera controlled from a separate fob. It all works well enough but it would be nice to have everything controlled from a single point, ideally a wireless device that you can take to bed with you!! Please keep this going as I for one would be very interested. Don't forget security though. A PIN code to enable/disable the electrics (maybe even the alarm) would be a good addition. Keep up the great work sir. 👍

      Thank you - really appreciate the comment and encouragement. You are absolutely right in needing something you can take with you so you can keep an eye on things. I need to get cracking again with some things on it as have had a break since the van arrived as prioritised other jobs, when the nights start to close in I’m sure will be back on it again, I’ll be fitting some of the bits soon (remote dump etc) along with other bits in prep for the full solution. All the best, David 👍

    That looks amazing and maybe a less comprehensive version would be great as I would be in the market and I think a lot would as some of the panels supplied are pretty flimsy we have a Schaudt lt150 in our Adria camper and the levels side have gone faulty contacted the dealers they are not interested in helping even though it’s under warranty. Infuriating so I would by a replacement in a heartbeat

      Thank you - I’ve been playing around still but haven’t had to the time to do anything meaningful for a while - I did notice at the Harrogate show there was a chap selling Savvy Van control panels which might be worth checking out…

    Hi David, that is going to be an awesome product/accessory for any motorhome, look forward to seeing you fit this and see it in action. One thing for me though ( with been a graphic artist) is the graphics look a bit "cheap" is this something you are going to look at once its all working ? Top marks though mate, it really is a fantastic idea

      Hi Trevor, thank you and you’re right ref graphics they are just ones I sourced freely to get it set up for testing and completely agree they lack a proper theme and core design. Graphic design isn’t my forte. Definitely something to look at properly once finished and proven out to create a nice finish 👍

    Quite a project David! I do like such technology and have dabbled with IoT projects in the past. Are you using Espressif modules to run the software and provide the wireless comms ?

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good Morning, I’m using the NRF24L01 2.4GHz Wireless RF Transceiver module at the present time, all be it as you may of noticed I keep swapping bits around with it to simplify the setup and minimise the cable runs. It’s taken a bit of a backseat for the past 3 months or so while I have been getting some of the pre-requisites in place and sorting out the practicalities for my van. I’m hoping to get the drain valves and module installed first in a couple of weeks if the weather is ok (It’s either been wet, cold or windy when I have had the opportunity) and doing a few jobs under the van - Thanks for your interest, more to come on this one in the near future 😀 All the best, David 👍

      @@LeisureBit Ah yes, I have a few of those transceivers in my "gadget box". I can recommend the Espressif devices (ESP8266 and ESP32) as they give you Wifi (+ Bluetooth on the ESP32), a built in TCP/IP stack and are fully programmable with a load of libraries available (they're very cheap too!). My beer fridge is controlled by an ESP8266, receiving the fridge + room temperatures from ds18b20 digital sensors (these can be chained on a bus so multiple sensors only need three wires) and switching the fridge compressor + tube heater if it needs heating using the same type of SSR relays you're using for your latest USB outlet mod.

      @@y0rkiebar Thanks for the recommendation - I think I have some of those, will check. Really appreciated. Sounds like a cool (pardon the pun) beer fridge you have created - all the best, David 👍

    Hello sir, Your touch screen camper controller looks really nice. In this video you explain that your controller turns off the antenna preamplifier to save power. You also suggest that wireless control of modules will be used to ease wiring installation requirements. Surely every module will then require a radio receiver operating at all times that will consume battery power 24/7. What price point are you aiming for this new camper controller product ?

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Logan, you are right, every module when powered up would use some power, this is normally a small percentage of the otherwise standby power as it’s pretty low power transceivers and the design avoids things being ‘chatty’ when not in active use. As I move along will share some data on consumption. A number of modules would be powered off when main control panel is off also.
      With regard to price point, that’s quantity depending (overall) as certain components such as the LCD display and valves are the most costly physical components. So for example if 10 were sold in total the cost per unit would likely be more than double if say 250 were sold and probably half again if 1,000 were sold. At present my view is it should be doable cheaper, more feature rich and more expandable than other equivalents.
      Hope that helps, David 👍

    Love the video, looks like a great product. Still a view questions:
    * can i (as a customer) chance the English text into Dutch or German?
    * when i wanna switch the lights on...is it mean i switch all at the same time...or can i make a choice which light i wanna switch on or off.
    * is it avaliable in The Netherlands.
    * can it be used in a selfbuild campervan aswell as a campervan you can by at a company like Hymer.
    Greetings from The Netherlands........and sorry if my writing in English is terrible😁😁

      Hi, thanks very much for the comment. It’s still very much in prototype so not available to buy or anything like that. My future plans would allow you to change the language and configure it as required so it’s flexible. It would be perfect for a self build when completed. In all honesty it’s taken a bit of a back seat for a few months but will be back on it again soon. Keep watching over the coming months if it’s of interest and you can wait that long. All the best, David 👍

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, It's something I partially progressed but didn't move into anything which was sellable - potentially one for the future but since coming up with the idea, a number of other solutions have hit the market, all be it not as comprehensive but the price point for low volume production was becoming prohibitive. All the best, David 👍

    What sort of process would one need to go through if I wanted to change my existing CBE PC180 control panel?
    I have a Truma 4e, Renogy and the CBE power control so each “system” has its own panel would be good to have them in one panel so I could also control everything at the rear of the van too

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, it’s an interesting challenge with the multiple control panels isn’t it. Some panels are very proprietary so harder to link into, some have capabilities which allow interfacing with (CI Bus etc) - some are restricted by licence for access to, others easier such as CBE switches, dimmers etc.
      I’ve paused on the control panel over the season and moving back onto doing work on it over the winter - it’s harder than you think to create a single panel, I’m hoping to make it simpler and less panels over he coming months but not sure for some specific types if ever the benefit would offset the effort.
      Keep an eye and see how I get on over the winter, I think then the specific answer to your question might be easier to answer.
      Thanks for the comment, all the best, David 👍
