    How I made a Stealth Security Camera System | TINY Cargo Van Conversion
    In this video, I explain how I made the security camera system that I used in my Ford Transit Connect cargo van conversion. This is a simple system that can be achieved at a low cost.
    I used a 12v 4 way split screen as my monitor and 4 cheap Amazon backup cameras as the live feed. I simply needed to connect everything to a 12v power source and attach it to a switch.

      Dualex should try converting a shipping container into a tiny house or just built from the bottom up with all the knowledge that he has obtained through all his builds. Really hoping to see a tiny house build in the next bazillion year into the future. :D

      Hey if you haven't already done it you should put some tape or a rubber washer in your drill holes so it doesn't saw through the wire from the vibration while you drive. Great tutorial.

  • @shamrockfile
    @shamrockfile 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Only noticed one thing missing. Vans flex a lot while driving, to avoid wear on the wires install a rubber grommet on drilled holes and then pass the wire through.

  • @markphillips8019
    @markphillips8019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    15Amp fuses? I'd be shocked if the whole system used half of that. Plus your wiring is not capable of anywhere near that and so should something bad happen you will NOT blow the fuse before the wires catch fire. Try replacing those blue fuses with 1Amp black ones (the color dictates the rating). Otherwise, well done. Amazing job.

  • @randynovick7972
    @randynovick7972 2 ปีที่แล้ว +56

    Pretty cool. I didn't see you use any rubber grommets or sillycone when you were passing wires through drilled holes in sheet metal. I've had some stereo installs that needed to be redone (well, just recabled) when sheet metal wore through the wire insulation where the cables passed through. It takes awhile, but vibration can do this bit by bit and you don't notice until signal gets bad. You can wrap the ID of your holes with foam rubber or neoprene (I cut up tiny strips from an old mousepad one time.). Anyhow, this was neat to see and I like your approach to power - keepin' it simple. Nice work and thanks for sharing it!

      Good advice. Paint any exposed metal after drilling, then place grommets to protect the cables.

    Cool idea... I would just make a few changes.. Move the side cameras to the side mirrors (just because that is usually where blind spot cameras are). Id also add a old laptop or a raspberry pi running Frigate NVR and a Google Coral TPU.. Frigate will record all your video streams or only when it sees motion. It can also be set up for alerts and if you really want to get into it face detection of common people.. One cool feature is you can set up zones and tell it to look for specific things like people or cars. All local and self contained. Id do two modes a drive mode that pings you when someone is along side you and a night mode that looks for motion by the van and alerts you.
    Im curious how the nigh vision is on the cameras?

    Great video my friend! I'm a bit of a security camera nerd around my house. I even have a LTE dashcam that is accessible on my phone, the trouble is that it only shows the front. It's only natural that I wanted to view more angles when "car camping" and this is EXACTLY what my plan was on using. Thanks for the post!

    Nice 👍. I have been planning to do this same setup for a while ever since I saw cyclecruza do it on his Chevy bugout van about 2 years ago. He’s been running the setup for years. He has all his cams fed into a large tv on a swing out mount in the back of the van. Maybe I’ll be able to tackle that project this summer finally.

      Sooo , Where is the Electrical " Follow Up" Video ...? Also, I did Not See the Dual ( Male ) ends- connector for the Yellow camera Plug Wires.... Listed anywhere, but I'm Sure I can Track them Down... On Amazon.... People are Mentioning that the Side / White Cameras Show ( upside Down) on the Monitor...? What's the Resolve on That..? I Love the Whole Set up, But Probably Would Not be able to Purchase the Bluetti Power Box, I would Just Hook it up to an Auxillary Battery Bank. Stealth Van Safety is Priority One... With all of these Doped up, Desperate Crazies, Lurking Around , Trying to Burglarize Parked Vehicles, at all Hours of the Night... I feel an Emergency Switch to Light Up 4- Sides of the Van, would Help Immensely, also - a Panic Alarm or Loud Horn Sounding Off... Could Send the Intruder Running Away...!! BillinL.A. 10/15/22.

    I'm glad I ran across this video. For several months I have been looking at camera systems to add to my van. I don't really care for most of the available options. Like you commented, most of them were bulky and were better suited for home use than on a van. Definitely not stealthy. This looks like it might work. Thanks for the tip!

    I installed security cameras on my van two months ago and at first was looking into the old school way like you did it. At the end I end up with a more modern setup, with two ip spycams.
    Since I already have a non stop internet in the van for my work it just made more sense to have those because I can see what's happening around the van when I leave it perked. Other benefit of the ip cams is recording in the cloud and motion detection alarms.
    Knowing that I get message if anyone starts messing with the van and I can then see what is going on right away makes me feel a lot more safer when my leave my micro house.

    I've just brought a similar 12v cctv set up but I'm not too worried about the look of the cameras. Well, I am a little, the red IR lighting gives it away a little at night. Sometimes overt is better than covert, especially if you are losing camera sensor quality. Great build though!
