Virtually every other brand has systems that are already incorporated into their RVs including Keystone (In-Command), Jayco JAYCOMMAND etc. I have a Cougar 5th wheel with the in-command and love it, can control everything from slides, to water/heater, HVAC, Vent fans, monitor tank levels, awnings, lighting etc from my phone and even when I am not close to my RV with global connect. Awesome features, really surprised that Coachman doesn't offer a more robust system. I get that some people just like buttons but I'm sure not one of them. My next RV will need a similar system or wont consider one now.
Hey, Stan! You can get OneControl from manufactured units. If what JD showed is of interest to you, then the next time you look to purchase a RV, make sure it has OneControl. Additionally, being able to do a project like this with JD is a huge help to us at Lippert to get further insight into the possibilities of having aftermarket options for technology like this.
I have this system on my 5th wheel. It’s just redundant controls that I don’t use. I just use the mechanical switches on the panel that’s literally 6 inches away. My wife used the app the first day we had it and hasn’t used it since.
Before they leave you need to pull rv down bumpy roads. This will somewhat check for any loose connections. Being this is after market install. Just little advice.
Thanks for sharing JD! Lippert seems to be making huge strides to connect with us consumers. I appreciate that they are willing to put themselves out there like this and find ways to make their products even better! Way to go Lippert Team(Ryan, Wes and Tanya)! Y’all are awesome!
Hey hey! Thanks, Charlie. It’s definitely a huge goal for us at Lippert to rally around our customers and give them a voice! This was such a fun project for us and we definitely hope to do more like it.
The In-Command system in my ‘16 Keystone Outback 324CG is one of my favorite things about it. If we move to another rig, this is in the top 5 priority’s in purchasing considerations.
A couple of suggestions JD. 1) Add bicycle handlebar tape to your extended entry handle. It's gets slippery when wet! 2) We use child locks on the sides of our fridge freezer drawers to keep the doors secure when we travel. No need for ugly strap marks on fridge doors. Need links to both products? Let me know! Thanks for your videos. They are very informative!
We have that in our cedar creek…it literally runs everything from lights and slides to holding tank levels to levelers and ac/heat pump. The one MASSIVE upgrade lippert could move to is giving the option to go to a capacitive touch screen panel instead of a resistive touch screen. The panel technology they use is from 10+ years ago. That one change would eliminate 99% of the issues I have with the system. Pushing on the panel over and over again to get the correct response gets old. The biggest bonus to the app is being able to check your black tank levels when filling up to flush…you don’t have to run in and out to check the panel.
I have the In-Command system on my '18 Keystone Outback. I don't mind using it for some things, but it takes longer to turn on Bluetooth, open, enter password, connect, than to just use the switch. On mine the Porch light, security light and awning led lights are on there. To be able to turn them on from your car at night when you arrive is great. Mine also has the display for the tank sensors, but the leveling system isn't in it.
Great idea! Maybe this will encourage better wiring systems. I love learning about all of this stuff. In preparation for our transition, i called the insurance company to change everything to online and told her why. We had quite a great discussion because she wants to go full time, too, and work from "home." Thanks to YouTubing, i had answers to most questions. I gave her TH-cam channels to watch and yours was at the top!
A better video would have been how to bypass the touch screen with switches. I have this system in my 5th wheel. It may add a bit of convenance with the phone app., but it certainly is not an improvement over hard switches. Read the different RV forums and you will see many owners would prefer the switches.
Very good, hi-tech upgrade done by very skilled technicians. All you need now is a self-driving tow vehicle, and I'm sure LCI will come up with a way to integrated it into the APP, too.
I have the one control on my kz Sportsmen 5th wheel. I love the fact that I can link my phone to it. Only problem I have had is it seems like I have to reset the monitor after every trip. Only thing I don't like is that the manufacturer of my 5th wheel put all my lights minus the bathroom and bedroom on the one control only. Would be nice to have some actual switches.
Hey Joe and Grant! That can definitely be frustrating. Couple of questions: how many components does your OneControl have tied into the system (examples: leveling, lighting, awnings, slides, AC units, Tire Linc, etc)? Do you regularly reboot the system to let it refresh?
@@ryanzerfas9173 I have a 2021 grand design 395ms, pretty much everything is on the one control other than a few lights in the garage. great video well done. But for me and my smart control board, no thanks, going back to old school switches and no sensors. Try to keep both but separate systems. So, if one fails the other works.

I have this panel in my 2021 Grand Design Momentum. The panel is really not very responsive. Responds very slow to the touch. Hey there - have you tried connecting with our Customer Care Center? 1-432-LIPPERT would be a great place to start. Also, mind detailing what's happening that is making you disappointed with the system? Thanks!
The grumpy posts about product availability are really weird. Like it’s JDs channel, he frequently works with manufacturers, and he has connections that allow him to pull in this sort of sponsorship. The alternative is...don’t watch? Like it’s pretty interesting to learn about *why it’s not offered as an aftermarket solution.* The birds nest of wires and having to track down correct inputs looks like a mess. That’s interesting and made for good content. I certainly learned something.
If they aren’t offering this as an aftermarket upgrade then I see zero value in featuring it on your channel. I mean it’s cool and all but I very much doubt people are going to shop an RV based on having a one control system. I was quite interested right up until the point when they said us normal folk couldn’t get one.
The system came in my Grand Design Momentum 328M toyhauler. I'm spoiled by it now. The App function and the ability to monitor the slides and awning deployment is awesome, a really nice safety enhancement.
Lippert and Grand Design have disappointing customer service. I have a 2021 Momentum and the LCI One Control screen has not worked since we picked it up. Went through both companies customer service and Shawn Thoms who assured me he was sending a new screen to my home will not return emails or phone calls. In summary, good for you JD...hope you don’t need customer service from LCI. Maybe Coachman will treat you better than Grand Design has me.
I have the LCI One Control on my Grand Design Momentum 328M. It has never given me a seconds worth of trouble. I really like the App while extending the slides and the main awning. I do wish I xould extend the secondary awning from the App instead of having to access it from the sub control panel in the toghauler. The same with the outside lights in the garage end, and the 2nd awning LED lights
@@ryanzerfas9173 you can reboot until the sun goes down, but until you guys produce a panel with technology from the last 10 years, they will continue to lag. Move to capacitive and away from resistive!
After a struggle to get our new 5th wheel's OneControl to actually connect to my phone, I realized that in order to use my phone to control this panel, I have to be logged into the units gateway, thus NOT having access to my OWN Wi-Fi is very inconvenient. Personally, this "upgrade" is not worth it. Having individual light switches, HVAC switches and having gauges for the tanks on a panel is far FAR more logical. Bad enough LCI won't let you use the internet/wi-fi of your own choosing makes for a poor design.
The more I see the wiring on some of these Rvs the more I don't want to buy one. Plus the dirt and crapola that was on top of that underseal of your RV really has turned me off on buying.
Not a fan. We have one and it’s MUCH easier to just use the switches. I’m even less of a fan of their leveling system. I have to “zero” it almost every time we camp.
Hey, Chuck! Sorry to hear you've had issues with both systems. With regards to OneControl, in your experience, what makes the manual switches easier for you vs using the app? Curious to hear. Regarding leveling, have you ever connected directly to Lippert for this issue? If not, I would suggest calling 1-432-LIPPERT to see if there is a quick fix for the issue you are having. Thanks!
Yea, the leveling is a known issue from looking around forums. For some reason, the levelers in the front want to raise up higher than they need to be. By raising up high, the rears need to come up to match and end up raising the tires off the ground. I’ve manually leveled as low as the system will allow and re-zeroed multiple times…the auto level function still wants to raise everything up higher than needed. I now just manually level when I get to my spot with no issues. Yet something else in the industry that could be fixed if anyone wanted to spend some time doing so.
In my opinion if you did not take obstructions in mind when you parked your rig you really goofed big time. If you find them this way then you wasted a lot of time to re hook and move the rig. To me it not worth it especially in light of the number` troubles I read about in the various forms or Facebook pages.
The system is nice but when it breaks no one know how fix it we have been out of ac for 2 months and they told us it's the AC module change that out and paid almost $300 and still didn't work now we have 2 icons lights and leveling they don't know what happened to the rest so they told me tech it's a Dominic problem witch won't bring the other icons back like slides, awnings, hydraulic
My take on this - I watch reviews and channels for ideas, knowledge and reviews. Usually, I watch objectively and try to understand different points but I’m finding it difficult with this one. I don’t understand the purpose of showing installation of a product that “the viewers” can not add to our own rigs after market? I understand showing your new fifth wheel with the “custom” floor plan that isn’t available but this is a bit much. Just being honest. Lost a subscriber with this one.
Hey Valerie! I believe the goal of this was to showcase the benefits of the system and also give a glimpse into the world of Lippert a bit. Many RVers, new and veteran, don’t know what all a system like this can do for them. So, content like this helps to educate. Sure, it’s not available aftermarket but it is when you go to purchase your next rig. There is value is knowing what is out on the market! Hope that helps.
@@ryanzerfas9173 I would agree with you to a point. I’ve been a subscriber of BTBRV for some time and I really try to look at things objectively but I can’t with this one. It’s not that it’s this one particular video, it’s several like these combined. As a consumer, I rely on upgrades that we can purchase to add to our RV, which is a DRV less than a year old and there are so many videos of people reviewing the Onetouch system that this was an off putting video because of the portrait of an upgrade to add to an RV of which IS NOT AVAILABLE to add to an existing one.
@@LovingWigswithValerie I'm unsure how to respond to this comment. You are saying that you are looking for univseral upgrades that can be applied to all RVs. This is likely the only product I've ever showcased that can't be installed aftermarket.... But honestly, it could if you found the parts and we're gutsy enough to attempt the wiring. Keep in mind, if I had all this equipment installed and didn't video the process, what would my subscribers have thought? TH-cam is most certainly a "you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't" platform.
@@BTBRVReviews I agree about the platform and the way some people react. I have my own TH-cam channel and have encountered a lot of it. As I said above, I really try to look at content objectively and as a creator myself, I try to look at the content that I make with the eyes of a subscriber. I watched as you encountered comments about the Beacon and again with your new Montana but I was able to see the reasoning behind putting out that content, appreciated the majority of it and applied some of it when we purchased our DRV. But, I am really careful to put out content that my subscribers could utilize, be helpful, spread correct information and knowledge. Like I commented, there are a ton (as I’m sure you know) of videos on the One Touch and this particular video hit wrong on a lot of notes to a number of people. I won’t speak for anyone else but only for myself, as well as trying to be totally honest, it came off to me as boastful about having an entire team come out and do things for you that can’t be done for everyone.

Like it’s pretty interesting to learn about *why it’s not offered as an aftermarket solution.* The birds nest of wires and having to track down correct inputs looks like a mess. That’s interesting and made for good content. I certainly learned something.
Agreed, like JD has any thing to do with them not offering it aftermarket...smh
Tom, i could not believe you were talking with my future wife, I am powerless around a beautiful girl wearing a sexy cap backward. I AM IN LOVE.
I wonder if they have read the reviews on the App Store 💀
I have laggy touch screens/ no thanks
Hey KK! Two questions, what all is tied into your OneControl system? Do you regularly reboot the system? Thanks!
I hate when I have the runs all over the place.
The more I see the wiring on some of these Rvs the more I don't want to buy one. Plus the dirt and crapola that was on top of that underseal of your RV really has turned me off on buying.
is this probono ??
or out of pocket ???
Why don’t lippert have their own brand of RV.
Why build one when they can sell to all of them
It's disgraceful that the wiring is a rats nest right from the factory! Ae there no building codes on trailers for god sake!
I think we see it as a rat's nest because we know nothing about wiring. Better too much wiring than not enough. Boy do I know that pain!
There are building codes. They generally don't specifically address wire length. Apparently mine are extra long because it was a concept.
How much more would you be willing to pay for something you don't normally see?
Kinda makes me feel like a peasant. Us "common folk" can't have this, only the elite special cool kids can get this. Bummer.
It's kinda like watching the spoiled brat bragging oooooh... look at me! I'm cooler than you are.
I've really enjoyed your videos in the past, but this one? 😕🤔
Hey Ron! At the end of the day you CAN get this. That is when you go to purchase a new RV you could preference a rig with this system in it. We currently don’t offer this aftermarket because of the complexities of tying this system into the many various models and floor plans.
JD has a large and awesome audience so we see value in showcasing this product so that campers know what’s available on the market when they go to purchase a rig. Hope that helps explain a little!
