I generally pledge only for ships with a very niche purpose that isn't pure combat (e.g. cargo hauler) or something with an intrigue value (e.g. Scorpius, being X-wing-inspired) and refrain from ships that might make the early progression too easy. I changed my mind upon the C1 being announced and decided to make it my daily driver, having liked previous Crusader ships, and if I didn't like it I could just melt it. I'm really satisfied with the C1. I like the final design a lot, with small but significant changes from the original, and this is definitely going to be my daily driver. One of my favorite activities in Star Citizen is racing in a Fury LX, but finding a ship big enough to carry it but small enough to do so conveniently was a hassle. Enter the C1, which not only has a large enough bay to comfortably carry a Fury but also a tractor beam to conveniently put it in or out. I also have one friend who plays Star Citizen and the C1 is perfect for both playing solo and in a team of two. The only things I wish the C1 had are an additional door and a manned turret.
So basically you want the Cutlass black...fits the multiplayer role, it has a manned turret, fits a fury, has tractor beam, has two other side panel doors...The C1 is alright I guess, but the Cutty is still the better option in my opinion. Yeah, I agree the C1 has a better fit and finish and you can defenitely tell it's a more recent ship, but in term of what it offer it lags behind. The Crusader ships always have this sort of decompression chamber in between the cargo and the cockpit and is always in a tube shape with some components...I don't love this design. I feel like the components could all be left behind, in the cargo area and that decompression chamber could have a docking collar with a side ladder on one side and a suit and gun rack on the other. That would fix the entrance issue that afflicts all Crusader ships. As per the manned turret...I mean, I also prefer being pshysically inside of the turret, but I don't really think it would be possible in this design.
For real. I don't even check the channel name before pressing on a ship review. I just start a video and wait for the music. If it's not Farrister music, I switch to a different video.
Just recently got myself a C1, and holy hell am I in love. Great cargo space, fantastic aesthetic in the living areas (got some Cruz Lux and energy bars in the two cupboards under the counter), and I've been bed logging on it too because of how much I love it. Would absolutely be ok living aboard it long term, with the door that leads to the cockpit being lockable so I can rest at ease, as well as the personal storage above the bunks being an amazing bonus feature.
Worth noting that the C1 can also easily haul 100+ scu of cargo if you use the extra space not included on the cargo grid. The central walk way will fit an additional 32scu box. You will have to manipulate cargo to get in and out, so it can be frustrating if you are solo, but I have found it manageable. As of a recent patch you can sell cargo not on the grid like other ships, so I am surprised no one mentions this.
Honestly, I hadn’t thought of this. My biggest gripe on the C1 is that the freelancer MAX has more cargo for only slightly more cost in the shop. But now that you mention this I feel much better about my support for the C1.
I agree it's possible and not an issue in the game right now besides the inconvenience factor. In the future, I'm not going to risk that in ships whitefish like especially with large containers. Those bouncing around without being locked down can cause serious damage to the ship or other cargo.
@@ericwollaston5654 I haven’t experienced much bouncing or shifting in my other ships that I’ve actively overloaded. Namely my vulture. Grid only holds 12 but I can consistently load it with 22 crates of RMC, with the last one being the last one out of the baler.
Great doors and solid design. Couldn't ask for more. Glad to see Cutlass black competitors enter the market. We'll also have to see how the Zues Mk 2 measures up.
@@Phantom-dm9fz I feel like the zues will be that in-between for the cutty black/spirit and the Connie. And if that's true I think its gonna be popular.
@@BATMANal it’s a good ship in between if that’s the case considering it’s labeled as medium. The only downside is the weapon size for all the variants but makes up in shielding and base health pool so far. Plus it has a secondary entrance and a shower poo system. Count me in if cig continues progress
All these reviews you do helped me buy my first ship and understand all of them. Perfect format, cool music, see everything that you need. The C1 was honestly credits I used for the last year. Then it released and omg.. perfect ship transport/cargo everyday. Cheers Farrister, this channel is excellent for ship knowledge.
The Spirit C1 is the 3rd member in that triumvirate of entry-level Medium Multicrew Multipurpose ships by MISC, Drake, and now Crusader. They each have their advantages and disadvantages; Drake focused more on firepower while MISC builds tough ships, while Crusader opts for nimble and quick. The Spirit C1 is the choice for those players leaning more to courier work and other peaceful pursuits, especially within the atmosphere. When atmospheric flight comes into the game, the Spirit will gain an even better footing in performance to its competitors. Lastly, your point of how this ship works well as a team member is a key point. That tractor beam, when on top, has a 360⁰ view and can assist big brother Hercules or other ships with moving cargo around, in addition to better preparation of gathering loot surrounding it than other ships.
@Farrister Thank you, kindly, sir. Some might like it to be a foursome or quartet and add the Zeus CL to the mix, but I disagree it belongs with the 3 I mention. Why? The Zeus is not an entry-level ship, both by price point and crew capacity compared to the Cutlass and C1 specifically, and the Freelancer by the general acceptance it should be a two person ship also. Though I digress, the Freelancer (especially after a rework) may try to straddle between the entry-level MMM with its base version and then the Zeus/Mercury "advanced" mediums with it's two variants competing with the Zeus CL and ES with the MAX and DUR respectively.
It's the first ship that convinced me to spend more money on the game beyond my starter pack. I upgraded from a Titan to the C1 and could not be happier with it. It feels like home (the Titan), but bigger and better.
Same thing for me, while I still haven't upgraded my cutter to it yet, just got the upgrade from hawk to C1 to take advantage of the warbond, I plan on finishing the upgrade by the end of next year.
I also upgraded from the Titan to the C1. It's been fantastic so far, does everything from most VHRT targets to org box running support to getting around stanton quickly. 9/10, just wish it was either a bit faster and/or the wing cannons were already gimballed at their present size. I have also fit 120 scu of cargo in it, but those are dark and dangerous arts lol
I started with the Titan as well, but almost a year and a half ago. I ended up upgrading my starter package to a Cutlass Black. While I liked the way it flew, I really don't like the Drake designs. I rented the C1 during IAE and flew it around for two days. I loved everything about it, including the design. I instantly threw the extra 15 bucks in to upgrade from my Cutlass and don't regret it.
Exactly the same scenario for me :) I fell in love with it after renting it during IAE. It's such a joy to fly and even though some questionable design choices and though competition, it is the one for me.
I didn't upgrade my Titan, I kept it. Since I have an Idris (crowdfunded by org) the Titan is the ideal shuttle/ fighter hybrid. But the Spirit was the aesthetic of ship I always wanted in that size class. The Freelancer looks like a 50s toaster sucked through a hose and the Cutlass a scrap metal space-K47, neither of which I enjoy the look or feel of.
I started my SC career with a Cutter and Upgraded it to a Vulture and then the Zeus II MR with an A1 loaner. My daily driver for a long time for general gameplay was the Cutlass Black that was usually the first ship I buy after a wipe. But then I tried the C1 of a Org member and immediately fell in love with it. The way it flies, the room and especially the optics are so awesome! This is why I decided to add a second pledge to my hangar and ought it. Now the C1 is my daily driver. Always loaded with a few Self-Storage boxes to carry loot and a Tumbril Cyclone for hostile bunker runs. No interest in Cargo hauling with it as for that I have my beloved Caterpillar and C2 but the C1 is 100% the ship I want to start with after a Wipe. I just wish it would allow to lock the Airlock blast door in the back and if the gunrack allowed bigger Primary weapons like the FS-9 or F55. Also I wish it would have 1 or 2 jump seats for passengers. Beside that, the C1 is really the perfect allrounder and daily driver for travel, bunkers or other 1-2 player gameplay.
Without sounding rude, I fall asleep to your videos sometimes not because its boring. Its because your voice is so soothing and the video is so relaxing.
I love your ship reviews man. I know most of what there is to know about these ships already, but I sometimes watch these for the pure enjoyment. Your narration, the visuals, the music. It's all just such a relaxing and deeply pleasant vibe. Keep up the good vibes coming!
I hope this ship has lots of upgradability in the future, specifically in the wing sections, it seems like such a huge amount of space isn't being taken advantage of there, and I feel like it should either be rebalanced and given a larger shield or something, make the extra size and cost worth it over its competitors. Loved the video as always!
The wings 🪽 main purpose, like most Crusader ships, is to provide it with better lift and general performance in the atmosphere. Sure, atmospheric flight isn't in fully yet, but the Spirit will perform better than its rivals. Like on an airplane, the Spirit likely does store its fuel out there, which does give it a decent range, too. Of course, the counter to those advantages is a much larger silhouette.
Fun fact! Unlike on the C2, the armor locker closes and cannot be opened from the inside, so it can serve as a impromptu holding cell, Cowboy Bebop style😂
A big point that can't be understated is the ability to snap two 32 scu boxes to the grid. As more gameplay begins to involve loading and transporting cargo boxes manually, having access to this size is very helpful. Further, I've packed over 100 scu of salvage cargo into the back of my C1, probably reaching closer to 120scu. Yes, it makes getting in and out tricky, but it can be done. I don't think you can get anywhere near that with the lancer or cutty. Also, it's tractor is placed in a good location, and does allow for easy loading and unloading without leaving the ship.
I purchased the C1 for many reasons, travel across Stanton without refueling, cargo space, ease of use for single player, the looks, its fairly agile for the size, they have also got it ready for future updates, gravity / life support ready to go, refueling in space etc. Also looks great. Great upgrade from the avenger titan. It ticks many boxes, combat is average but I did not get it as a fighter. Well worth the purchase. Also has the second fastest Quantum Drive out there. The tractor beam is a cool bonus as well.
C1 has been a strange one for me. I love and have complaints about mine. Pros for me: Handles nice, has decent pilot controlled firepower, hauls enough cargo to make it worth it, Looks good and is nice to live in. Cons for me: Feels like it takes up nearly as much space on the ground as an MSR making it a bit clunky to fit places things like Freelancers can be parked easily, Has more engine to ship ratio going on out back than the MSR but is slower SCM?..., Vtol engines at wingtips just have to get near things to get torn off. But I understand the SCM speed being more matched to the Cutty and Freelancer and the MSR is its own thing as the high speed smuggler. So even with the cons I have been living in my C1. So nice to bedlog in and wake up looking up out the cockpit out in the middle of nowhere on some moon or Microtech, Even filled the fridge with LUX and beers. Got a few bologna sandwiches and some citrus beef burritos packed away as well. For the stone bug living in the other bunk, gotta have a friend along.
It's one of the ships that truly works out really well for a solo player, and it peaks at 2 nicely. It doesn't require much to run, and you don't lose much to run alone. As functionality of multi-crew increases, that will certainly make the Freelancer and such have their own appeals but the C1 is currently, and should likely retain, great for it's size. It also has the great functionality that the Nomad also has in that the pilot never needs to expose themselves in the future if they don't want to. Hauls and drop offs means no one has to leave the cockpit, and the multiple doors offer great security in this regard cause no one can sprint up and shoot you before you can prepare. The C1 is a comfortable ship for the solo and duo teams, and I only see it getting more appealing when ships start requiring more hands to operate.
I love this versatile little ship. It's staying in my hangar alongside my msr and inferno. Great for just doing some chill low risk cargo runs or simply looking good while flying around.
I honestly wasn't that impressed by the spirit when I just looked at its specs but when I got one as a loaner for the Zeus and took a look at it ingame that first impression changed quiet quickly, It's such a good looking ship with a nice layout and great tractor beam positioning that can reach and see the entire cargohold. Only real downside I found with this ship is its massive wingspan causing issues with some of the hangars you get assigned to which can become a very tight fit sometimes.
The wings are my only real complaint about the Spirit. I think it would have looked so much sleeker and sexier if it didn't have the wings (or maybe just smaller winglets) and was just the central, arrowhead-shaped fuselage and the engines. It just looks disproportionately wide compared to its length and the wings are big targets as well as getting in the way as you mentioned.
yeh the wing span can be annoying at first, but it only took me a few days to get used to. Now I know exactly where to line up my nose to avoid slamming the wings into the hanger doors.
my biggest gripe with the ship isn't even the ship itself, but the VTOL hangar size it gets assigned to. you cannot take off in a station hangar vertically; the tail fins will smack the edge of the hangar bay doors. It also goes without saying that landing is very punishing as well. you have to be extremely precise.
Reckon this is a glitch, maybe the game thinks a C1 is S1 size. I keep getting Seraphim hangar 1 & 2, which are for small ships like my Pisces. Theres an Issue Council post that you can contribute to.
@@shawnc5188 Its not a glitch, CIG changed the c1 from a size 4 ship like the Valkyrie to a size 3 ship like the freelancer. I do wish they would change it back.
I would ding it points for the cargo doors not being as wide or tall as the cargo space. It creates a limitation that you cannot load things that would otherwise fit. Having the cargo space in a less than ideal location for access also seems an odd choice for a cargo ship.
The Zues should be far more difficult to use solo with engineering and resource management. C1 should be manageable with the crew of 1-2. Zues is supposed to be 3-4 if I understand correctly.
@TheSeannachaidh Both ships are almost similar in ship size and crew. The Zeus is a couple meters longer but not as wide as the Spirit. The Spirit has a maximum crew of 2 and the Zeus is 3. So, the Zeus CL shouldn't be much more difficult to operate compared to the C1 Spirit.
@@Caennuck considering both ships sizes I highly doubt you will be traveling in space long enough for any of the engineering stuff to become a concern before you land at a station or city and let it get maintained or you do it yourself during QT. Resource managment isn't going to be something you have to do 24/7 unless you want to hyper optimize your ships power output to put less strain on components and maximize their efficency for example.
The only issue I have with this ship is that landing in stations, they always throw you in smallest hangar available - and it FEELS like you have to be aligned down to the inch before entering the bay or your wing or tail is going to hit the edge when descending. They need to up the size of hangars that are hailed when landing.
It truly surprises me just how goddamned talented CIG's designers are... and a month later they go and release an even better ship... ... Love your reviews... they make perfect after work, wind-down viewing.... never change this format.
This was an easy pick for me. The included tractor beam needs adjustments but it's perfect for looting ships and transfer cargo, makes it very versatile while salvaging bigger vessels.
something never talked about and I wonder if it will be important later (with planets with heavier gravity for exemple) is the VTOL mode. In the description it's said it's one of the best with those big engine. Still my favorite ship. Indoor & outdoor designs are top-tier. A bit sad it's not a 80SCU instead of 64 but heh, it was 48 before. Love that every components are all in 2 rooms, easy to access.
Another excellent video. The only comment I have is that you did not mention the VTOL. Other than that you mentioned every other aspect of this ship. All in all, keep up the good work.
Team is essential for the C1 to really bring out its full potential. During IAE, me +1 made big Bucks with Salvage pairing the Vulture and the C1. Thanks to the tractorbeam-turret, neither of us had to leave the ship too often. We could fit some salvaged cargo and almost a full scrapped C2 in there. Ofc this could be done with others ships aswell, same goes for cargo-hauling with it, but all ships comparible lack in one or two things that the C1 can provide.
for years, I have pledged and melted ships, trying to find that one "daily driver" that I could be happy with. i have my Vulture and Prospector, but I wanted something with some cargo space and still be able to do some bounties and mercenary missions, but the ships were either too large or not large enough. then you turned me on to the C1 and i grabbed one to try... omg, I love this ship! the look, the sound of the engines, everything. it has everything i need to play solo and do so happily. after upgrading it and running multiple missions with it, this is going to always be in my hangar. even took down my first Hammerhead with it last night, so it's definitely staying unless CIG makes something that can compete without breaking the bank.
Just beautiful! Couldn't wait for this ship to make it in the ranks of your reviews, and having piloted one during the IAE, I agree 100% with everything you said in this video. Sadly, I moved on and found the Zeus more enticing - and couldn't pass up the Warbond offer - but fortunately I've got a A1 as a loner to admire until my Zeus gets built, it's like a bad drug that keeps me going back to this smexy ship :( :D
There's a lot to like about the C1, especially as a ship you're going to be using heavily. The newness of the design really says it all - there's so much accommodation in the C1, it's sort of hard to get at - personal lockers for you and your copilot, for instance, on top of the internal inventory and cargo space. Suit lockers and weapon racks on top of that, and a good amount of cargo space that you can still likely use ALL of, even while carrying a thin vehicle, like a Nox or later on, a Tumbril Ranger. I'd be interested in seeing if it can fit an STV without compromising the cargo grids - if so, that's a pretty nice win, on its own. What it means overall, though, is that the C1 is not only a multi-role ship, but one that will likely be able to perform multiple roles AT ONCE - doing box missions or bunkers, for instance, while also doing cargo runs, with plenty of extra supplies and fuel for long-duration runs, and crew quarters that actually feel like quarters. About the only thing I can say I dislike about the C1 is its vertical profile and its footprint. In combat against maneuverable enemies, the wide, flat pancake design of the C1 is likely to put you at a disadvantage, especially considering your limited shields. On top of that, it's low-slung with very wide landing gear, and that long ramp to boot. It's still a smaller ship, but to land it comfortably anywhere but a pad, you have to be very picky, very reckless, or very lucky to find a spot where it'll lay nice and flat. That can count for a lot when you're involved in shady business, where you might want to park, say, out of sight of a bunker's guns or the prying eyes of others loitering around a drug lab.
Melted my C1 and went straight to an M2 after watching your M2 review, absolutely luv the M2, and its now my daily driver. Yet, C1 is a nice little ship, good all rounder and an excellent starter, with possibly the best selection of paints, every one suits the C1 and enhances its profile.
Now that the sizes of cargo containers has been determined, they really need to go back and look at the older cargo ships to make sure they work. For example, the Freelancer is supposed to carry 66 but I don't think there's any way in hell you could even fit two 32 containers because a decent chunk of its capacity is in that little airlock room.
I don't understand why they split the component section in 2, it should have simply been cargo >airlock door 1 > components > airlock door 2 > habitation.
I had this as a loaner for the Zeus CL and loved it enough to get one it handles well and while I will always have a place in my heart for the CB this tops it in many ways.
I upgraded from the avenger titan yesterday, it feels like going from a 96 honda you've been toughing out to a luxury heavier car, the difference in how "pleasant" it is to pilot compared to the avenger is hard to put in words, it's a matter of feel a lot. It is currently 3.18 millions aUEC at Orison, and that is including the 3.23 price changes.
Love this ship. I upgraded from my 300i, and obviously its a massive upgrade from that. claim time is extremely short. The ship is very fast, which makes it an absolute breeze to make quick cargo runs (picking up & dropping off prospector loads, and bringing along on salvage missions with friends in vultures). And its not terrible at combat either, so can be used in bounty missions (with a friend in a dedicated fighter) to kill the NPCs, and then grab all the cargo from destroyed ships. Super versatile n useful ship to have in your fleet edit: i'd also add that "the dance of doors" in this ship feels much better than in other ships (like the corsair for eg when going from cargo bay) bcs its a straight shot to the cockpit.. and cos the doors seem to open very quickly (automatically), sometimes even opening both at the same time.. tho im not sure how to actually trigger this.
Finally a ship that checked all the boxes for me and so I ended up buying the game. Though a little extra room would've been nice for that extra 32scu container while still being able to enter the cockpit... It's a bit frustrating but I like this ship a lot nonetheless.
I love the ship. Upgraded my game package from the Avenger Titan to the C1. And so far it's the best. I have my hauler, fighters, etc. but I find myself always pulling out the C1 when I just need to get from A to B and/or don't know what I am about to get into. As for the twitchy tractor beam, I find hitting Q to turn on relative mode makes it a lot easier to use like most turrets. And I don't think anyone really hates the C1. Most of the negatives against it are usually "But my Zeus Mk II" or "But my Cutlass Black feels more maneuverable."
Thank you for sharing. Having the components in the rear for changing or repairing them is an excellent design choice. Additionally, having the cargo off on the side so you can easily walk through the cargo bay is another good design choice. The tractor beam design was well thought out, and with a bit of practice, I could use it with a few issues. Are you able to deploy the fuel port from the cockpit? Additionally, we have spoken about components before, and even though it would slow down the ship considerably, I suggest a person think about swapping ours to an Industrial drive like the Huracan or the Bolon. The negative on this swap is you are about four times slower; however, the positive is that you can extend your range by almost four times. The bonus with an industrial drive is that they are allegedly more durable. This substitution may be warranted when you think about areas like the "Pyro Preview" we were looking at.
Thank you for the video! I love the C1, and even though the A1 provides better multi crew and more damage, the C1 is definitely my daily driver right now. Waiting for the Zeus II to come out, and since they are very similar, I will probably melt the one I like the least.
As awesome as the Star Runner and the Corsair are, im part of the minority that wants a generally symmetrical ship. The C1 seems like a nice one. Also has a hint if the Normandy in it.
I love the improvements in the little details that mordern CIG ship designs have. These new ships show off what ships are supposed to have such as bathroom, working storage doors, personalized inventory, door buttons, interior light switches, and external illumination. Each new ship released feels Gold Standard.
Just upgraded my Freelancer pledge to this... Main reason TBH is the Freelancer is just a brick and I'm really not a pilot, so any ship that flies a little easier will make me feel less stressed! The bigger window on the Spirit is LOVELY. That it looks so nice aesthetically is a really great bonus. Also my friend has a Constellation Aquila so I don't need something really big for my solo ops (I was previously thinking about the Taurus). The wider ramp allowed me to get a ROC and I'll do solo mining when not doing team stuff.
One reason I melted my MSR where the hundreds of doors you have to pass until you get to the cockpit. Here I think are lesser doors and they do open when you approach or sense your character. At least this should be the way to go, the MSR did not do that for me. Whe shall see I like the C1 :) Thanks for the great YT
I pledged it at concept. Was upset at first when hearing it wouldn't have a gunner turret like it's competitor, the Cutty Black. However, this ship has been amazing, even without the turret. Picking up cargo, fast traveling to meet up with friends or even combat. The C1 has been very comfortable doing group HRT's. If one of those ships you destroyed had cargo, you can just hop in the tractor turret and place it in the cargo hold. For me, it is the ultimate daily driver. If I want to multi-crew, I have much better ships for that anyway. Some complain about its size when landing in hangars. Hasn't been any kind of issue and shouldn't be if you're a pilot with decent experience. If not, it doesn't take long to get used to, the C1 is very responsive. This ship just gives you the feels. Very easy to get immersed when flying in it.
You can with slow movement get two Furies in the back. An STV will fit in the ramp section though it tends to shuffle to a side during transits. The hangers that it gets are mathmaticaly viable, but after getting the Reclaimer's hanger for my C8R so many times, CIG should give the C1 a larger hanger as default. Otherwise it is my default daily driver above the Cut Black and other ships in its class.
I have used C1 a few days for different purpose and already can say that it is really good ship. C1 a little bit looks like "Normandy" in Mass Effect, and it is one more reason why I chose this ship. But the price for me was very high and painful extra 20% VAT. Also it is a lot of time was wasted in waiting when the doors between the cockpit and cargo will opened each time. It will be really nice if it will be the option to switch door-condition open/close. In this point Titan is better because have fast and separate exit from cockpit. So thanks for nice review, Farrister, and all the best!
Do you use the manual button for the doors between cargo and cockpit? Because most of the time i press the button and both doors opens. But yeah. Titan has a very fast way to leave the ship.
@@vonrosphe3098, Hi! I`m just press the botton on the wall with using interactive mode. But usually they opened by themselves, only need wait some time and this is make me uncomfortable, I dont want to spend 3-4 seconds for each door each time when I want to go in or go out. Maybe I just missed something...do you using some "manual button" in game settings(hot-keys)?
Proud owner of a C1 Spirit. It arrived just in time while I was upgrade crawling from ship to ship throughout the years, starting with a Mustang. In short, I absolutely love the ship despite some minor flaws (limited MFDs, among others). Will probably stick with it, unless the Zeus somehow steals my heart lol.
The C1 is great for a 2 man ship. I wish the pilot could enter the remote turret without leaving his seat. It sucks having to get up move literally 3 feet to use the tractor beam when you play solo.
Took it right after i saw it on the RSI website upgrade from a nomad, , good cargo for the size, size 3/4 missiles. all you need to live inside, 2 seat, and feels like a TU160 mix with a private jet when you fly with it . And those engines, the sound they make in athmo is really good , and of course look at that ass.
I love this ship, my first ship in star citizen! Planning to take my son on a few trips when the game will launch. We'll take a vehicle with us to explore some planets :D
Upgraded my Avenger Titan to this, and my only gripe is the lack of access to the cockpit without having to walk the entire length of the ship. I have to say, the component and cargo isolation door doesn’t really make a ton of sense in that context either. I can’t think of any reason to have it closed, ever. Maybe once ship fires are introduced it will make more sense. I would also really appreciate a few jump seats somewhere.
Anvil is almost solely a military manufacturer, as in lore they didn't really become a big company before the anti-Messer Revolution. Personally I want them to stick to that, while Aegis diversifies away from the military.
I'm not a fan of the "dashboard" taking up as much screen space as it does when you're sitting in the pilot's seat. But the C1 is a very useful ship 🤷♂
I commented on this once; however, I found myself watching this video again to recheck a few items. I would like to see a Crusader starter ship that would also compete with Drake and MISC ships as the Spirit does.
This is gonna be my daily flyer, I think. I love the look of it, which is basically why I collect Crusader ships. What'll be interesting is if Crusader makes a starter at some point.
I thank you for another informative and entertaining video. Hmm, sure, it has the clean looks of Crusader Industries and if I may say so a small whiff of R.S.I. which might hint at some industrial skullduggery (Corporate Espionage??) and certainly helps to give this ship something I think most Crusader Ships lack: Character.
I bought an E1 as I like the idea of doing VIP transport missions. C1 does look cool, but the cargo space is just too small when compared to other cargo ships in a similar price bracket.
It took me a while. Starfield is not a spaceflight simulator; it plays like Freelancer. It's all mouse/keyboard, you don't take off or land, and there's no atmospheric/low altitude flying or air to ground assaults. All ship combat takes place in space (like Freelancer or Privateer). So unfortunately, although you can design an awesome ship you don't really fly it like you would in Star Citizen. But you do get to build the interiors, although the designer system needs work. So Star Citizen still scratches that space flight itch. But somehow I haven't been that itchy lately.
I've had my C1 for all of about two hours now, but it's been lovely so far. it's a decently capable little ship, and fun to fly around in. my only concern is that she seems to live up to the name "spirit" because every so often i hear a metal pipe clanging against something and i haven't got a foggy where the noise is coming from so i think she might be haunted.
I didn't think I would upgrade my Avenger Titan, but I just made the jump to a C1 after watching your videos. Absolutely love it so far! I actually appreciate the rear air lock, because with only one entrance it could keep any possible cargo out of sight when exiting the ship. Also, one design point I really like is the ability to lock the door to the cockpit. This feature paired with the remote tractor beam shows that the C1 is designed to get in to and out of dangerous cargo spots while keeping the crew as safe as possible.
I rented the C1 during the IAE event and absolutely loved it. I bought the C2 in game and probably fly it the most out of anything but it’s a pain getting to the cockpit. Much faster in the C1. My only issue was that I couldn’t figure out how to manipulate things with the tractor beam. I could deploy, grasp items and swing them around but I couldn’t figure how to pull them in and out.
Yeah it's alt+mouse wheel for retracting the vehicle beam, the same weird decision they made for mining power a couple patches back. I'll note that while you can't currently rebind this control, it looks like vehicle tractor beam keybindings are due to be added in 3.22, which I'm greatly looking forward to.
I adore it's looks. Good enough ship to rely on when I dont have all my friends online and its good enough. Not trying to min max just cruise in style.
I've been really enjoying the C1. I've been flying the MSR a lot which I bought in game. I would like to buy the MSR but can't justify the cost. So initially I thought the C1 was my consolation prize. But I think longer term for me as a primarily solo player it is a better option than the MSR. It's feels fast, especially in space it's acceleration is very quick. And overall I find it easy to fly. It is big though and can be a tight squeeze into hangars. CIG need to bump it up to the next size assignment class for hangars. Can certainly carry a fair bit. Getting vehicles in and out is easy. Good for salvage mission. For trading it probably doesn't carry quite enough to make it viable, especially for low value commodities. It's perfect for trading gold, I've normally been able to get a full 64scu of gold and made about 110k profit. I haven't tried any illegal cargo yet, but suspect that anything small volume high value will work well. C1 has definitely become my daily. Crusader design ticks a lot of boxes for me. The C1 is one of those ships that gives me a little thrill every time I enter the hangar.
Before seeing your video i had no idea about the fuel port, much to my disappointment when i looked around to find mine. Somehow the fuel port got mirrored and the hinge is now on the outside while the rounded edge is on the inside, making it impossible to open and once i've seen it, really triggers my ocd.
im a bit behind in watching this, but i just upgraded to this after owning the cutlass black. while i miss the black, this fits me better as im usually solo. almost brings me the same feels as the titan did when i upgraded to it from the mustang i bought the game with that i ended up despising
It fits into that niche really well, I think
Fuck that Cutlass black@@gabzsy4924
@@gabzsy4924the cutlass’s are ugly though
Man, that review music has become iconic. Never change it! It feels like a warm blanket... great videos! :D
Thanks, will try to keep it!
100% dude. there are so many places to hide cargo not on the grid in this ship.
I agree it's possible and not an issue in the game right now besides the inconvenience factor. In the future, I'm not going to risk that in ships whitefish like especially with large containers. Those bouncing around without being locked down can cause serious damage to the ship or other cargo.
Good to know - not sure I would have the patience for it though!
Will be interesting to see
Honestly may upgrade from the c1 to the Zeus mk2 just based on storage and design alone
I wanted to upgrade my Cutlass Black to the Zeus MK II CL but it's no longer available :(
All these reviews you do helped me buy my first ship and understand all of them. Perfect format, cool music, see everything that you need. The C1 was honestly credits I used for the last year. Then it released and omg.. perfect ship transport/cargo everyday. Cheers Farrister, this channel is excellent for ship knowledge.
The RSI website is really not great at showing you a ship layout or vibe. These vids are great!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for your kind words
You get my like Eric, not least for the use of the word triumvirate
The Freelancer looks like a 50s toaster sucked through a hose and the Cutlass a scrap metal space-K47, neither of which I enjoy the look or feel of.
ive been using mine as a daily driver/mobile home. The door is just big enough to find a mirai fury inside, which is really nice to have.
That Fury fits in so many places :D
This was my first (and probably only) upgrade, I absolutely love it.
Jolly good!
Haha fair enough!
@@Farrister Love your content bruv. Its helping me with my decision making as a new SC player. Cheers for the hard work!
I love your ship reviews man. I know most of what there is to know about these ships already, but I sometimes watch these for the pure enjoyment. Your narration, the visuals, the music. It's all just such a relaxing and deeply pleasant vibe. Keep up the good vibes coming!
Thank you for your kind words
I dunno, I think the wings will come into their own with flight model developments
@@Farrister Yes, I do agree 👍
Well, it has larger fuel tanks than competition, so maybe it's not entirely unjustified wasted space? :)
Don't forget fuel tanks @@ericwollaston5654
Fun fact! Unlike on the C2, the armor locker closes and cannot be opened from the inside, so it can serve as a impromptu holding cell, Cowboy Bebop style😂
Haha! I'll not ask how you found out...
Good point!
Ticks a lot of boxes!
I was waiting patiently for your review, thank you for the content I count on.
My pleasure!
The C1 goes exceptionally well with the Vulture. Co-pilot can just sit on the C1 tractor beam and unload the salvage as boxes pop.
I bet! Will have to give it a try
Wait the C1 has a tractor beam?? How do I use it?
YES @Farrister this is what Ive been waiting for!!!
Woohoo!
Great notes from an owner!
looks sweet might have to change my 325a to this, looks like some design insparation was taken from the normandy form mass effect.
OOOH yeah, it does have that vibe!
Glad you're still doing ship reviews!
YAY!
Yay! My most popular videos, still!
Masterpiece of a design, beautiful ship. Good job on the video here
Thank you very much!
I love the C1. It has become a daily flyer for me. Great another video Farrister!
Glad you enjoy it!
Let's hope so!
I love this versatile little ship. It's staying in my hangar alongside my msr and inferno. Great for just doing some chill low risk cargo runs or simply looking good while flying around.
Totally!
It'll be interesting to see how it compares to the Zeus when we get that
Man, that shot at 1:40 is GLORIOUS with Crusader itself being lovely pop-in vieuw
Thank you!
always going to look forward to a new review from farrister
Thanks :)
I would add that you can park a STV between the ramp and the rear door without sacrificing cargo space.
Good to know!
my biggest gripe with the ship isn't even the ship itself, but the VTOL hangar size it gets assigned to. you cannot take off in a station hangar vertically; the tail fins will smack the edge of the hangar bay doors.
CIG just posted on issue council that this is not a glitch, so try auto landing.
The landing challenge...
It's both very long and very wide for the hangar. The nose has to be almost touching the wall in order for the ramp to have enough room to open.
I would ding it points for the cargo doors not being as wide or tall as the cargo space. It creates a limitation that you cannot load things that would otherwise fit.
Having the cargo space in a less than ideal location for access also seems an odd choice for a cargo ship.
Very pretty ship. This, and the Zeus CL are going to compete for daily driver status.
@@Rooboy-619 We’ll have to see! You may be right. If I understand that’s not max crew, but expected crew once all systems are completed.
@@BizzMRK Crew sizes need to mean something though. The game can’t be balanced if massive ships are piloted by a single person.
The only issue I have with this ship is that landing in stations, they always throw you in smallest hangar available - and it FEELS like you have to be aligned down to the inch before entering the bay or your wing or tail is going to hit the edge when descending. They need to up the size of hangars that are hailed when landing.
Agreed!!!
It truly surprises me just how goddamned talented CIG's designers are... and a month later they go and release an even better ship...
... Love your reviews... they make perfect after work, wind-down viewing.... never change this format.
Thank you :) and I agree, not just about ships too - so many incredible places in this game
Time will tell on the VTOL, I suppose!
I've been doing solo ERTs with my C1, no issues outside of the Hammerhead
Oh wow!
Another excellent video. The only comment I have is that you did not mention the VTOL. Other than that you mentioned every other aspect of this ship. All in all, keep up the good work.
Thanks :)
Vulture pairing is fantastic!
for years, I have pledged and melted ships, trying to find that one "daily driver" that I could be happy with. i have my Vulture and Prospector, but I wanted something with some cargo space and still be able to do some bounties and mercenary missions, but the ships were either too large or not large enough. then you turned me on to the C1 and i grabbed one to try...
omg, I love this ship! the look, the sound of the engines, everything. it has everything i need to play solo and do so happily. after upgrading it and running multiple missions with it, this is going to always be in my hangar. even took down my first Hammerhead with it last night, so it's definitely staying unless CIG makes something that can compete without breaking the bank.
Just beautiful!
Couldn't wait for this ship to make it in the ranks of your reviews, and having piloted one during the IAE, I agree 100% with everything you said in this video.
Sadly, I moved on and found the Zeus more enticing - and couldn't pass up the Warbond offer - but fortunately I've got a A1 as a loner to admire until my Zeus gets built, it's like a bad drug that keeps me going back to this smexy ship
:(
:D
I'll be intrigued to see the Zeus in game, and how well it performs
Love your notes, as always Billy!
Hey Farister what is the best way to get slow panning camera movement in Star citizen I’m doing recording and having abit of a hard time handling it
I use an Xbox controller - don't pretend to know if that's the best way, but it works for me!
I love my C1 Spirit of Crusader with the Crimson Paint. It's simply gorgeous.

I got both :(
Great review, Farrister! This does look like a great competitor to the Cutlass Black. I hope the issues with the tractor beams are sorted out quickly.
I mean they work, they just aren't easy to use!
Traded my Cutty Black for the C1 and no regrets. Better use of space, clean feel to fly, suits my needs better.
And beautiful too...
Yeah...
Well done review. Very thoughtful
I don't understand why they split the component section in 2, it should have simply been cargo >airlock door 1 > components > airlock door 2 > habitation.
Maybe a desire to keep cargo airlocked
I had this as a loaner for the Zeus CL and loved it enough to get one it handles well and while I will always have a place in my heart for the CB this tops it in many ways.
CB?

Super versatile n useful ship to have in your fleet
edit: i'd also add that "the dance of doors" in this ship feels much better than in other ships (like the corsair for eg when going from cargo bay) bcs its a straight shot to the cockpit.. and cos the doors seem to open very quickly (automatically), sometimes even opening both at the same time.. tho im not sure how to actually trigger this.
The dance of doors...

Great daily driver and I love the aesthetic, its been a joy to own so far.
Nowhere to wipe though..... :D
Finally a ship that checked all the boxes for me and so I ended up buying the game. Though a little extra room would've been nice for that extra 32scu container while still being able to enter the cockpit... It's a bit frustrating but I like this ship a lot nonetheless.
Yeah...
But it's so pretty!
Excellent review, thanks!
Thank you!
She does look shinny!! Will be picking one up. The most likely upgrade her to the e1, when they become available.
I'm really interested to see how the E1 turns out
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Tim - I couldn't find a switch for the fuel port, but that doesn't mean there isn't one!
Thank you for the video! I love the C1, and even though the A1 provides better multi crew and more damage, the C1 is definitely my daily driver right now. Waiting for the Zeus II to come out, and since they are very similar, I will probably melt the one I like the least.
I'm looking forward to when we can see the Zeus in game
As awesome as the Star Runner and the Corsair are, im part of the minority that wants a generally symmetrical ship. The C1 seems like a nice one. Also has a hint if the Normandy in it.
Thumbs up for symmetry!
I love the improvements in the little details that mordern CIG ship designs have. These new ships show off what ships are supposed to have such as bathroom, working storage doors, personalized inventory, door buttons, interior light switches, and external illumination.
Each new ship released feels Gold Standard.
It does! Until the next comes along xD
It's a new shiny option xD
I can sense your passion through your words!
I love my C1, I own the Corsair and C1 as my two main ships. the lower respawn time makes the C1 a go to, to get around the verse.
Understandable, I think!
Same... i own both but unless im really trying to use big guns ie corsair... the c1 is much mote pleasant to fly around and way faster.
A surprising amount of room inside!
The VAT is a killer!
Lots of intrigue out there for the Zeus!
The C1 is great for a 2 man ship. I wish the pilot could enter the remote turret without leaving his seat. It sucks having to get up move literally 3 feet to use the tractor beam when you play solo.
Yeah...
Haha, she's a beauty!
I love this ship, my first ship in star citizen! Planning to take my son on a few trips when the game will launch. We'll take a vehicle with us to explore some planets :D
Sounds fun!
The C1 immediately became my favorite ship in Star Citizen the day I got it.
A lot of love out there for the C1, I think
Upgraded my Avenger Titan to this, and my only gripe is the lack of access to the cockpit without having to walk the entire length of the ship. I have to say, the component and cargo isolation door doesn’t really make a ton of sense in that context either. I can’t think of any reason to have it closed, ever. Maybe once ship fires are introduced it will make more sense. I would also really appreciate a few jump seats somewhere.
Yeah, the walk is not ideal :(
I hope anvil comes up with their own versatile ship maybe in between the carrack and pisces.
Anvil is almost solely a military manufacturer, as in lore they didn't really become a big company before the anti-Messer Revolution. Personally I want them to stick to that, while Aegis diversifies away from the military.
Big gap between those 2!
Ah good to know, i'm not too informed about the lore. I just like the aesthetic of anvil ships. @@keeperwings1
Love my C1! WHAT A SHIP!
C1 love
I'm not a fan of the "dashboard" taking up as much screen space as it does when you're sitting in the pilot's seat. But the C1 is a very useful ship 🤷♂
Yeah that's fair
I commented on this once; however, I found myself watching this video again to recheck a few items. I would like to see a Crusader starter ship that would also compete with Drake and MISC ships as the Spirit does.
Crusader has such gorgeous designs for their ships! Might just get this one to flex on my friends!
Haha!
This is gonna be my daily flyer, I think. I love the look of it, which is basically why I collect Crusader ships. What'll be interesting is if Crusader makes a starter at some point.
As a fellow Crusader collector, I know what you mean lol
I thank you for another informative and entertaining video. Hmm, sure, it has the clean looks of Crusader Industries and if I may say so a small whiff of R.S.I. which might hint at some industrial skullduggery (Corporate Espionage??) and certainly helps to give this ship something I think most Crusader Ships lack: Character.
Such daring accusations for a company that has proven itself nothing other than above board...
LoL, I know!! But you can't deny that there ARE certain....'flourishes' reminiscent of RSI in the C1's appearance.
i am def buying this when it comes to ingame stores
Zeus CL has this beat for me, but that could change if the interior gets chanced al ot from what was shown in the brochure
I'll have to wait to see it in game to decide, I think
I bought an E1 as I like the idea of doing VIP transport missions. C1 does look cool, but the cargo space is just too small when compared to other cargo ships in a similar price bracket.
I'm very excited to see the E1
E1 all the way boys......
The C1 has a very big cargo space compared in it's price range. Only the more expensive Max has a much bigger cargo hold. Or the Raft.
Also, the engines sound incredible
You think so?
I have not even flown my C1 yet. Been hooked on Starfield.
Maybe I'll take a look in 3.3.
I didn't really get into Starfield in the same way as Star Citizen :(
It took me a while.
Haha
Wish they would give it a 2nd shield, but still love it. Beautiful design and aesthetic.
Agreed!
I've been flying mine more and more, very happy with it too!
Vehicle tractor "reeling in/out" was mapped to alt+scroll for some godforsaken reason
I struggled with that too :(
I've got one as a Zeus CL loaner, and my only complaint with it is that I wish there was an elevator or something behind the cockpit.
Just a simple ladder would be great!
Agreed, it's kinda the MSR-lite!
Wish they would move the rear components forward with the other components, put them on one side and add a ladder up front like the Zeus.
Would love to see that too
Before seeing your video i had no idea about the fuel port, much to my disappointment when i looked around to find mine. Somehow the fuel port got mirrored and the hinge is now on the outside while the rounded edge is on the inside, making it impossible to open and once i've seen it, really triggers my ocd.
Oh no!
Little extra feature is the bridge is lockable for some reason too 😅
Safety and security xD
im a bit behind in watching this, but i just upgraded to this after owning the cutlass black. while i miss the black, this fits me better as im usually solo. almost brings me the same feels as the titan did when i upgraded to it from the mustang i bought the game with that i ended up despising
If this is a million in game itll be so worth it I think if the price on the site drops 15$ ish it would also be way worth it
I think all the prices are due to change soon though!
@@Farrister Oh your totally right! Excited to see how that affects gameplay.
