When solo in the Vulture its best to move the box out of the ejector and eject the one in it and move it too. Doing them in sets of two will cut the trips to the back in half. If you switch modes to target, you can move the scrapers without moving the Vulture. Then you can leave the back bay door open and your friend can handle moving the boxes while you work a spot with the Vulture. Very true it is definitely a risk right now. But on the PTU it’s forcing you back to the same server and when you log back in it puts you back in the same spot you were when you left.
Love your content. Started Star citizen in 2016. But just picked it up and put it down a few times. Haven't played much. Recently by chance upgraded one of my ships to vulture in the pledge store. Wow, just can't get enough salvaging saving towards a reclaimer now. Just love it.
I think with Vultures that having a Salvaging Operation with several vultures in different locations and one to two people on a Herc is probably the best course of action. Just have the Herc moving on a rotation between each of the vultures whenever they are full or nearly full.
@@Farrister Haha, true that would just be the objectively better option. Still, for a group of players who are all in Vultures, would be a fun little operation :P
That sounds like an idea, arrange the cargo so you have room for the RMC you scrape off the hull of the ship you are scraping, put it all in it's OWN cargo hold, and go bring a cargo ship to take the lot in one go.
Using the cargo hold from your salvage claim as temporary storage will certainly work, but it's a bit risky. Because it's not a player owned ship, all the cargo (both the salvage and your produced RMC) is at risk for being lost if the server 30k's. I'd rather park the Vulture with a good view and use gimbal mode so it doesn't need to move around to salvage, and park the cargo ship directly behind and in range for offloading the Vulture without interruption.
Salvaging is relaxing but what I dislike about the Vulture is the fact that you are soooo limited by your cargo capacity. So you either gotta do it with another player/another ship, or go for smaller contracts or simply know youll lose salvage when running out of space if the job isnt finished.
I love this it's just like I pictured in my head with multiple players,if you had three or 4 even you could do two vultures and move the cargo from the bays very fast, and from the Hercules. This would be very fun for a group of 4 everyone moving and doing their part, then just keep taking contracts till you run out of room in the H2.You will all make a lot of credits and doing this a couple times a week would really pay off.thank you great video keep them coming.See everyone in the verse.
Not a bad haul for scrapping that A2. 433K each would be worth it for two of you working 2 hours isn't too bad. I liked this video Farrister. Having had the chance to use my Vulture once, so far, was fun. Kind of like mining in a Prospector. I only wish the cargo bay was bigger so I could not only strip the hull, weapons and cargo in one run without needing a second ship. Thanks for the video. You keep making them, and I'll keep watching. Take care my friend, fly safe, and I'll see you in the verse.
@@Farrister I'm so grateful right now because i've done the same mission with a c2 and had a ton of luck. The cargo from the c2 was worth 1.6 million auec Thankyou so much for your videos
Me and my friend have been doing this for a few days. What we do is he parks at one side of the Hercules top or bottom typically or whatever ship he salvaging I bring my M to ride up behind him, and then he gimbal locks the scrapers and then I just pull the boxes out from his ship from inside my M to as they come out so he can do one whole side of the ship before we both move to the underside and neither one of us ever have to leave our ship
Great vid Farrister :) just a PSA, if you side strafe from the top deck of the vulture, you fall down the stairs and you dont take damage, is faster, and also is avoids the falling out of the ship bug :)
a ship will save to whatever pads you are near as long as you are within request landing range of said pads and or area. 30k, death and a few other things other than the ship blowing up it will be fine. (if the ship blows up, you lose everything on it)
Not using gimbal mode on the Vulture for salvage? It's really easy to park youself in one spot, hit G to enable gimbal mode, and rotate the salvage heads without needing to move the Vulture at all. Makes doing the broad top and bottom sides of a herc effortless and allows you to stay in one position so a crewmate can offload the RMC boxes to a cargo ship while the Vulture continues to salvage in place without interruption.
I have issues with it, linked to my control scheme. I've tried various fixes but to no avail. I think it's to do with how I have it all set up for recording footage
This also certainly does not work well with Tobii eye tracking. Having to stare at the same spot for long periods of time is very straining. There it works way better by just rotating the ship
Just a little tip: the ladder on the vulture can be buggy and is slow.. if you want to go down don't use the ladder. just run in the back of the ship and when the ladder is left of you just go left (not look, strafe) and fall down. Its way faster and safer because you won't bug through the bottom of the ship.
the zeus cl with the extended tractor beam boom I think will be good for this just use the tractor beam and reach in your ship and tractor beam it back to the cl.
I record the footage with Nvidia game capture (formerly ShadowPlay). I have an encoder preset based on the Google guide for TH-cam uploads (or at least, what it used to be, not sure if it changed!). H.264 target 60 fps, target bitrate is 100 Mbps, and software encoding vs HW accelerated. It takes a little longer to encode but feels like nicer quality. Hope this helps!
@@Farrister Thank you very much! Wasn't expecting a response. Def helps knowing you use 100Mbps. Hope your days have been well and continue to stay that way!
Nice gameplay! I can't believe how many times you needed to unload the Vulture. I can't wait till I'm up to making large hauls (huh, just a single ship) like that. Just like you stated nice and chill, of course it helps when you narrate it all in your signature chill voice. Btw... Congratulations! - on being featured in last weeks RSI Newsletter on your visual guide on Pyro - you deserved it!!!
Yeah, but to be fair, these salvage contracts are kinda oversized for the Vulture anyway, so it's fair enough really! And thank you, it meant a lot to me to make the MVP :)
That bloody Vulture ladder: if you enter it sideways from the top you will fall to the bottom (no damage taken), saving a few seconds and avoiding getting caught on the ladder or falling out of the ship. I believe you can slide down ladders too but haven't bothered to work out how. I can't wait to be able to leave internal doors open, I'd hate to know how much time I have lost waiting for doors to open on the Vulture or any Crusader ship... . When I do salvage runs with a friend I usually empty the cargo, empty their Vulture then head back to the local station to bank some revenue against potential 30Ks. Then I either head back with a smaller cargo ship or my Vulture to speed up the salvage job (depending on how much RMC was stored in the first run). I truly hope CIG automate or otherwise improve the SCU handling in the back of the Vulture and Reclaimer. I'm sure Elliot Maltby said he might try and push for something for the Vulture (at least) a while back... ! Most RMC I've ever stripped from a Herc is 73 SCU, most SCUs I've stacked in my Vulture has been 22 or 23 :)
That damned ladder.... :D I've not really had issue with 30ks for a while, the protection always seems to kick in OK. You saw it on this one, it gave me my Vulture back at New Babbage, even though I had left it abandoned in space!
@@FarristerSadly we've been plagued with 30Ks since 3.18 (and inventory problems). I don't know whether it's peak play time problems or just bad luck. The protection system has been very hit and miss too. It's getting better but we've swapped to doing bounties and bunker runs, haven't even had much luck doing the ship boarding mission - we have to race through!
Sliding down a ladder is initiated by holding left shift while pressing the key to move down. It tends to kill you some of the times however, so use with care. What drives me nuts is the bug that puts you straight back on the ladder as you try to come off. Sometimes three or more times
@@eavdmeer Yeah, that ladder bug. I especially love that when I'm in my C2 and I think "I know I'll use the ladder instead of waiting for the elevator"... . Sometimes up to 20 - 30 seconds waiting for each door from the cockpit, then that :D
@@herbaceousboredom9584 the elevator has its own issues (apart from being slow). It can trap you inside with the control panel no longer working. The really terrible thing is that the doors are controlled by the server. That's why they're so slow. We need server meshing just to get normally working doors
I’m really hoping 2 vultures can barely squeeze onto a liberator, be cool to have salvage runs with a couple of snubs to protect and plenty of cargo room as well. Also hoping we see the actual cambio salvage tool someday.
17:06 this is an alright habit to have while parking in gravity but without gravity it is better to actually leave everything on when getting out of the pilot seat though this usually doesnt happen
When exiting to EVA was broken, I had an issue with this in a reclaimer mission. My kick off nudged the ship. When I came back out, my ship was 8 km away
Farr at 5:56 you climb the ladder i found its faster and more reliable to look at the bulk in front with a sidestep left and fall down to the door! You take no damage and no glitches so for your hurk salvage i did it in around 1 houre!
picked up a vulture at New Deal a couple of days ago, alpha 3.22 has some good changes for salvage, I've almost made enough with it to get a Corsair. With the new buffer system able to hold 13, I generally get 38 boxes in one vulture run. When I get the Corsair, hope to have some help like this, transfer the boxes from the Vulture.
Hi mate, good to see you back in the vulture. I know I asked before but you replied with the footage was a bit old. Are you having issues in the vulture with cargo snapping? The most I can get to snap is only 7 out of the 12. I'm pretty new to the game so am unsure if I am doing something wrong or if this is a bug in the game right now. Cheers Watching your video looks like you're not. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's bugged cos I upgraded my starter pack from the mustang to the vulture on the website.
I sort of want to see it where the contracts that might have cargo are separated from normal contracts, since they are going to be possibly more profitable. And then there is a chance someone has already looted the wreck, leaving only the salvage for you.
Great vid Farrister, thanks! Is there a potential problem with the reclaimed material boxes moved to the C2 being considered as “stolen” because it’s originallly “yours” when you trying to sell it?
I can definitely see a mid or even pair of mid tier salvage ships added to this game. What is the next critical element in salvaging is turning all that scrap into usable fabrication parts and materials. I feel that is the next logical step for this game if ship repair and base construction become a thing. The Reciaimer is not only a salvaging ship but is supposed to have some limited refining ship that can melt all that scrap down into usable crafting materials.
If CIG made it to where there was a conveyor belt system on the salvage ships, it would make things much easier if there's just one person on the ship.
Sadly, the value of the cargo is SO much higher than the scrap+weapons. Assuming you get something like 50SCU of RMC, and strip all of its weapons, the combined value (weapons + RMC) is around 500k. The typical value of the cargo I find in a Hercules (from the 30k salvage missions) is almost always 1m or more, and its fairly common for me to find 1.5m worth of cargo, not to mention the occasional Maze jackpot of 10m+. Additionally, in the time it takes to fully salvage a Hercules, I could've likely run at least 2 more 30k salvage missions. So, in the time it takes to make less than 500k in salvage (RMC), I've probably made at least 3m in cargo. Minimum. Of course, the "fun" factor needs to be taken into account, and I get much more satisfaction from fully stripping a wreck (weapons, RMC and cargo) than just blitzing through missions for the cargo alone. But currently, the payoff discrepancy is just too great. The gameplay should incentivize fully salvaging/stripping vs just taking the cargo and buggering off.
Dely! Long time since I've heard his name. He's such good people. Let me know about the reclaimer run if you don't have a full crew yet. And if it's a time i can make it.
Me and my friend do this. He drags his vulture. I bring the cargo connie and we stuff it full of salvage and whatever cargo. I run and sell it off when full and ship needs stripping still I return we clean it up and go on to the next melting :D! How I got enough for C2 herc. So we can be more efficient in stuff it.

ASMR Star Citizen. I love this so much. Subbed and liked. Keep em coming!
Thank you, welcome :)
Or switch to a Reclaimer? :O
It's an interesting idea
Salvaging is relaxing but what I dislike about the Vulture is the fact that you are soooo limited by your cargo capacity. So you either gotta do it with another player/another ship, or go for smaller contracts or simply know youll lose salvage when running out of space if the job isnt finished.
Agreed, although in this case we were using the Vulture to tackle the biggest contract in game, it's probably not as suited to that task!
I think we're gonna try Reclaimer next!
We do this as a group of 3-5, and crew the reclaimer, its just good fun. Hull Munching is coming, and cant wait for wreck diving for modules.
I did a bit of reclaimer salvage last night with my sons character (when he was asleep) and managed about 40 boxes inbetween 30k's and 2 m2 contracts.
Damn, I'd have thought 2 contracts would have been closer to 125 boxes :(
@@Farrister I had 3 30k's i just called it after the 3rd one and sold.
Thanks Koron, as ever :) hope you continue to enjoy yours!
You can save time when you walk towards the ladder backwards, because then you jump down and don't have the ladder animation
Good to know!
@@Farrister I'm so grateful right now because i've done the same mission with a c2 and had a ton of luck. The cargo from the c2 was worth 1.6 million auec
Thankyou so much for your videos
Another nice chill video, keep it up man!
Thanks Bosie!
What ship is the "M", a Mole???
Really interesting concept
Fully crewed reclaimer video would be awesome! Great job, love the videos!
Coming soon!
Great vid Farrister :) just a PSA, if you side strafe from the top deck of the vulture, you fall down the stairs and you dont take damage, is faster, and also is avoids the falling out of the ship bug :)
Good to know, thanks!
1:54 Really make me missing watching traffic going in and out of PO
RIP PO :(
a ship will save to whatever pads you are near as long as you are within request landing range of said pads and or area. 30k, death and a few other things other than the ship blowing up it will be fine.
(if the ship blows up, you lose everything on it)
But it was nowhere near!
There it works way better by just rotating the ship
stacking different cargo types is no longer an issue in 3.21.1 btw. Makes it quicker to stack your boxes !
Jolly good! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the tip!
Absolutely take out the reclaimer!
It's gonna happen!
the zeus cl with the extended tractor beam boom I think will be good for this just use the tractor beam and reach in your ship and tractor beam it back to the cl.
Could be!
I must know your video encoder settings, videos looking this good is why i hate recording on my PC
@@Badboyf2000 I do my best to answer! Best wishes
And thank you, it meant a lot to me to make the MVP :)
reclaimer sounds good.
Reclaimer it is!
That would be awesome!
17:06 this is an alright habit to have while parking in gravity but without gravity it is better to actually leave everything on when getting out of the pilot seat though this usually doesnt happen
It's a good point! One I haven't really had to worry about, until now!
Oh goodness!
picked up a vulture at New Deal a couple of days ago, alpha 3.22 has some good changes for salvage, I've almost made enough with it to get a Corsair.
Cheers
Watching your video looks like you're not. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's bugged cos I upgraded my starter pack from the mustang to the vulture on the website.
No, I'm really not :(
i am kind of excited for the new argo tractor beam little ship, it could make cargo sorting, placement faster
SRV looks awesome!
i meant the argo (cargo?) with the tractor beam, it was teased at citizencon :D@@Farrister
I sort of want to see it where the contracts that might have cargo are separated from normal contracts, since they are going to be possibly more profitable. And then there is a chance someone has already looted the wreck, leaving only the salvage for you.
An interesting idea!
Great vid Farrister, thanks! Is there a potential problem with the reclaimed material boxes moved to the C2 being considered as “stolen” because it’s originallly “yours” when you trying to sell it?
No, because both the Vulture and C2 are my ship :)
Would love to see some Reclaimer gameplay!
Yay! Coming soon...
If CIG made it to where there was a conveyor belt system on the salvage ships, it would make things much easier if there's just one person on the ship.
It would - not sure if they want that or not!
it's like watching a power washing video but in space with lasers
It's the vibe I was going for...
Wonder if you could use the Vulture tractor beam to unlaod the salvage boxes and place them on another ship
An interesting idea
Reclaimer would be 2x faster. or with 3 people 4 times faster. each turret is like 2 vultures on the reclaimer
Watch this space ;)
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed!
I dunno, I've seen the cargo value really drop a lot in 3.21 vs 3.20...
I like to toggle my ship in decoupled mode and just glide up and down. Makes the process a lot tedious
Oh that sounds relaxing!
Only turn engines off when landed in gravity, Rest of the time it's station keeping.
Wise suggestion
So Cool. I want to link up with Someone for an Op like this.
You should!
Dely! Long time since I've heard his name. He's such good people.
Let me know about the reclaimer run if you don't have a full crew yet. And if it's a time i can make it.
THAT'S A LIE OGI HE IS JUST ONE PERSON
Me and my friend do this. He drags his vulture. I bring the cargo connie and we stuff it full of salvage and whatever cargo. I run and sell it off when full and ship needs stripping still I return we clean it up and go on to the next melting :D! How I got enough for C2 herc. So we can be more efficient in stuff it.
This is the way
Please do a 3 person Reclaimer crew salvage run!
How about a 5 person Reclaimer crew salvage run? Coming soon ;)
I like putting my salvage arms in gimbeld mode.
Yeah, most people do I think!
Thank you
Good video 👍
Glad you enjoyed!
see, this is the part where it gets me, I don't have a friend
You can do a bunker mission, and then tractor beam one of the victims to your ship. If you call them Wilson, you can pretend they are your friend.
This is something ive been wanting to do for a while, but it's been difficult to get my friend to actually join a server 😢
:(
Did this last night but it wouldn't let me sell the boxes from my friend's vulture!
Yeah, I think the person who owns the ship needs to do the selling
Can the Vulture fit inside the C2 Hercules?
No, far too big
Would this work with a single reclaimer or would that be too clunky?
It would work! But with 2 people it's not the easiest - 3 would be ideal
@@Farrister 5 is best, 2 turrets, one in cargo, one eva'ing to get cargo boxes and the captain to move the ship, and have a kip in his quarters while everyone else is working.
Why did you choose the m2 over a c2?
I think explained best here: th-cam.com/video/ldet_akDX0I/w-d-xo.html
haven't played for a few weeks, i see those pesky ladders still a thing
Always a thing lol
yes do a reclaimer video please.
We did one in November - th-cam.com/video/UZOBJZjd_00/w-d-xo.html ; I already need to do another!
Thanks Farrister, I just watched that one also. I like your calm clear speaking style. I use your videos to try to entice my friends into joining me in Star Citizen.@@Farrister
Can you keep salvaging after a box is full?
Nope :(
Do they not shoot you when you get scanned???
No, it's just NPCs. I don't do or carry anything illegal, so they're always cool.
And of course Dely heads out completely unprepared for a random piracy attack in a sperm suit lol.
Pretty easy to find 50k from the station
Better to run, than to fight, I think ;)
@@Farrister if you get tackled with a mantis and boarded that’s not an option though 😊
Better to be able to fight back and cause the pirates a more difficult time than just backspacing like too many ppl do ☹️
@@0Metatron if a Mantis shows up, I'm leaving. If it gets close enough to stop quantum, I'm certainly not gonna be stopping and opening the doors to be boarded. FPS fighting is not the best way, and I don't exist for the enjoyment of pirates lol. I tend not to bring FPS weapons with me either, because it's not the part of the game I have much interest in
@@Farrister the mantis doesn’t let people leave though, that’s the point. With good piracy crew you don’t have that luxury.
You will be soft deathed, doors opened and boarded. We do it all the time and it’s far too easy for us right jow
@@0Metatron maybe you're right. But a Mantis is weak, easy pickings for the M2. So they would need to have more ships, in which case, it's 2 vs many, and I don't like those odds anyway. Which comes back to carrying an FPS gun is pointless for me, it's wasted expense that doesn't get used, or if it does get used, gets lost when we lose. We were out to salvage, not play victim to a pirate.
This would be the best game without the server crashes and bugs. You guys got lucky, but far too many times this multi hour endeavor would have ended in a waste.
I dunno, I find crash protection is usually fairly forgiving these days
You SHOULD BE BOTHERED, you aught to act as if it did matter, one day, it will.
And when that day comes, I will be ready! But until then [shrug]
im tired of musical chair every 2 SCU personally.
Yeah, that's fair enough. It was SO much faster with somebody pushing boxes
I feel this is another aspect of CIG trying to force multi-player on us, like the ludicrous capacitors on turrets
@@eavdmeer it just forces an extra player to be second string. Players should be able to pair up in a pair of ships and be efficient with it. Eg. A tractor beam in the hold. I suppose you could have a cutty pilot use theirs by shooting into your open cargo bay but holy hell
@@Cheesebread42 there is just not enough money in a salvage job to have two people there. Even a C2 will barely net you 600k. I do the salvage for fun sometimes, but it's not great money, even solo
yeah I agree, especially when this ship costs what, more than the prospector? Should be raking in a killing, not Chair Citizen@@eavdmeer
You can jump down the Vulture ladder standing sideways
Will give it a go!
