- The full race recap of Cambridge Half Marathon 2024, including course information, what I was thinking mile by mile, and my reflections on the result. At the end I also explain what special event I'm running to and the two races I've booked, as I continue to train for a sub 3-hour marathon attempt in October 2024. Episode 20.

Nice consistent pace. Congrats on the pb!
Thanks very much, appreciate it 😊
❤❤❤
Thanks again for the footage. Some lovely crowd and running shots!
Nice one Nick - really enjoyed that video.
Thanks John 😊 Bit of a (half) marathon edit so glad it hit the spot - was a little worried about the length but I cut it back as much as I could!
A good recap video Nick. Well done with the time really consistent mile paces! Your right it's amazing how faster you become with varied training/races
Thanks Mark! And yeah I was really pleased with the pacing - definitely one of my strengths so hopefully it stays that way 😊
Nice one Nick. Your progress is impressive - certainly the result of not just hard work, but smart work too. I'm trying to learn the lessons of making my easy runs easier/slower. It's surprising how much practice that takes!
Thanks Matt! I guess the bit that I omitted is it took me YEARS and many mistakes to get to this point 😂
Hopefully I can be that nagging person in your ear saying ‘slow down, Matt’ 😬
Thanks very much for the congratulations Nick 😊. Was really nice to meet you. Congratulations on the PB. You smashed it 💪🏻. I hope to join you on the sub 3 hour train in Abingdon in October.
And you, Kevin! And yes, bring on Abingdon 😀
I think if they ignored the colleges on route, which most of us do anyway - we don’t care, then they could make it a really fast course. The colleges wouldn’t be so bad if they were at the end - when the field has thinned out. But the combination of horrible terrain and congestion - really spoils the course for a club runner.
Yeah it’s true, I’m not really fussed and was mainly thinking about how hard the surface was to run on! But it’s a big race with 10,000+ participants - and I’m sure for many that is very much part of the appeal/experience. And if they didn’t do things like that, maybe it wouldn’t be so popular and thus not attract such big crowds and you would lose some of that race day experience? Properly playing devil’s advocate, here 😂
Great video, I agree about the gravel surface at Cambridge I found that tricky to run on. You didn't fancy Northstowe half next month then?
Thanks James. Not planning to do another half for a little while, but have to say I hadn’t heard of that one. I’ll look it up! What’s next for you?
@@nrg_runsI think it's quite a new race, this year may be only the 3rd year it's been on if I'm not mistaken. It's all I have booked in at the moment.
@@jamessleat8651Nice one, good luck! And if it’s flat, please report back 😬
(I do like hilly half marathons too, but that’s when I tend to keep it local to me!)
Club record at Essex 20
Ha, I’m not even going to bother looking that up… but I’ll take a PB that’s for sure! 😅
