Wow! One of the best comparison videos out there. Most of guys put an SM57 right at the center of the speaker and you can’t really hear anything besides buzz. This way you can hear some room response and it’s more of real world comparison. I’m actually really surprised that Jensen is so dark compared to Celestions. Also that awful top end extension on Creamback, you can’t hear it anywhere else. G12H is nice, fatter bottom than Greenback but a bit harder on the ears. Greenback G12M is my favorite of the bunch, Jensen suprisingly 2nd.

Creamback gets the top spot with the G12H30 55Hz a very close second. They sounded the most Vintage .The Creamback M65 actually sounded more like a vintage Celestion then the G12M Heritage Greenback .

I have a Celestion Heritage G12H 30 55hz in an open back medium size cab and doesn´t sound fuzzy like here. It´s odd. Speakers and cabs is a tough subject, an expensive rabbit hole.

Keep in mind that this comparison is made to show how this particular amp sound with differend speakers!
And the "Lummerland Express" doesn't sound and react like the most amps, also it has only 3,5 Watts!
      Cheers Cpt.

I like the G12H the best in this demo and the C12K the worst, although I really like the C12K in a Deluxe Reverb or Twin Reverb.

Nice test! While I understand that you kept the settings for consistency, in real life a player would tweak the eq of an amp to work optimally with the speaker. What‘s your impression, which one feels the best with the lummerland express in your opinion?

    • @captainsgear7124
      @captainsgear7124  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Of course you would tweak the amp so that it sounds best with the speaker of your choice. But if i did that for the video it won't be a comparison of speakers anymore also it finally would become a matter of taste - which sweetspot is yours and which mine...
My choice is the Heritage H 55 hz - for any Marshall style sound ! It has such a nice low end which makes every amp sound bigger, but they never sound muddy or too dark (in my opinion), also it is the most 3 dimensional speaker i've ever had. My latest "experiment" is to mix Heritage H(s) with NEO creambck(s) - just fantastic !!!
But if had to choose one spkr for the rest of my life it would be the 55hz H !
Which doesn't mean that i don't like the other ones, it's good to have 'em all - for different amps and stuff.
      Cheers.

Creamback M sounds good to my ears, I did not like the Creamback H, it was way to stiff and buzzy when I tested it but the M sounds good and firm without any bottom end flappyness.

Do you find the g12h to be spikey or too fatiguing on the ears?
Reading through forums Iv noticed many people say they couldn’t handle its voicing at higher volumes.
I really liked its full tone rather than its 75hz scooped sounding.
But I worry it might be too aggressive it’s terms of that presence boost it has.
I also have looked at creambacks and known they are fairly warm but sometimes in videos it seems true creambacks actually have more high end.
    Any feedback?

The celestion heritage G12H 55hz is by far my favorite Speaker, doesnt matter if some guys from a forum can't handle it ;) Also it's the less "spikey" spkr that i know. I use this Speakers for everything but fender / style amps! And btw: I've used 'em on several gigs with any volumes imaginable! So i'm no guy who tests Speakers in the living room and writes "Reviews" in the net afterwards. Give em a go and get you own impressions. Cheers

Agree with Captains reply. The Celestion Heritage G12H 55hz UK made (not the anniversary bla bla made in china) just green back one, Is neither spikey nor fatiguing at all , at any level in any cab. I have them in an open back mediun size1x12 and a close back 4x12 cab and sounds amazing both clean and dirt. One thing I disagree with Captains Gear, I connected the 1x12 to a Fender Deluxe Reverb last night and was blown away by the clean and overdriven sounds, I will try that at gig volume. Forget about forums and "articles" by people in their bedrooms. Nothing wrong with kids playing in the bedroom but they sould not write a review IMHO.

I have both the 55Hz and 75Hz Heritage G12H0s and the 75Hz is not mid scooped and has more mids then the 55HZ . It's scooped in the high mids which makes the Treble stans out more and some find it Hash for that reason. The 75 Hz is more rounded and Warm .The 55H does sound Great but the 75 is more vocal and articulate.
The G12H30 Anniversary is the one I would call scooped but the Heritage 75 Hz has the most mids of all the Celestion G12H variants.

The Jensen C12K sounds like it's been wrapped in clingfilm. BUT with a Fender Deluxe Reverb overdriven It takes away the fuzzyness in the high end and the strong magnet and cone avoids farting in the low / low mids with dirt sounds. For cleans it deals well with the non switchable bright cap in a FDR but a Juensen C12N handles cleans far better IMHO

Celestion promotion? Jensen is just there to promote the Celestion supremacy?
What about other Jensen models (maybe also a 44mm voice coil version)? What about Eminence?
Make a serious comparison or don’t.

Sure, no problem - if you wanna be my sponsor !?! If not, i can only compare what i got at home. Because i'm not sponsored, i'm not selling musical equipment or do promotion for anyone ! The purpose of this vid was to demonstrate how a tube town lummerland express sounds with different speakers and not to compare each and every speaker on the market - or each speaker that YOU like !

Or maybe these are the only speakers he owns ? He is he supposed to compare these speakers to an Emminance if he doesn't own any ? Or WGS if he doesn't own any ?
Who goes out and buys a thousand dollars worth of speakers just to compare them on You tube ? Should he do that just for you ?
Sounds like your one od those Gear Page types who gets triggered by, Celestion .
Nobody buys gear just to compare. People compare what they have.
