    I will be tackling this repair with the BD kit as well because I was quoted $4500 at the Ford dealership to have it done. Thank you so much for the tips and tricks! I will likely be watching this video again when doing the repair if I run into any specific issues.

    Great Video, I am currently on day 3 (2-3hrs each day due to work). Seems like a straightforward job. About to tackle those Studs this evening. I did undo the bolts on AC compressor and found it to help with room. I am changing all the Coolant and oil lines/filters/fittings as well. My 16' has 139K and I noticed I had the famous coolant leaking from turbos. Glad your EB is still kicking, this one has to last me quite a few more years.

    Passanger side. Thr back manifold bolt you didnt torque because the AC is im the way. How did you get that bolt or nut out. I cant figure it out. Flex head ratchet wrench? Universal socket ratchet?

      I used and open end wrench, one slow turn at a time. My turns were a tiny fraction of a full turn. Thay one bolt took a while.

      When I did them at the dealer I’d unbolt the ac compressor, it would pull back enough to get the fasteners and the turbo oil screens out

    I'm in the same boat w mpg. I get 17.5 - 18.5. Even keeping it below 65 mph.

      I need to update the video, but I increased the psi in my tires and got a steady +2mpg better. I do not have stock tires, they are 65psi cold, but the tire place said to keep it at 35psi. I thing they have given me bad advice.

      @@RIP226 I'm running 1 size over tires. Also Bilstin 5100's leveled. I keep mine @ 40 psi cold. They wear even.

      Replaced my ignition coil packs and got 21 mpg!!!

    Really appreciate your video. A few questions if you don’t mind: How many miles on the truck at the time? How many hours total would you guess (I know you said 3 days). You really made this look straightforward as a lot of people make this job out to be a monster. Apparently ford wants about 4500 to do this job…..

      Miles at the time of BD headers install approximately 95K. hours vs days, good call. I spent 4 to 6 hours each day, so somewhere between 12 and 18 hours for me... a novice. I felt it was pretty simple, using simple tool but time consuming as a few bolts took a few hours each. Cost savings was worth it for me.

      @@ripornot. Thank you for the reply. I have 71k and am considering just doing it before my bolts break (they are all intact) and doing the turbo lines and fittings as well to just get it all over with before it becomes the inevitable problem. Again, you make it look straightforward I think because you seemed to be calm and taking your time throughout. Have you had a new timing job on yours yet?

    • @ripornot.

      @@bigpicturethinking5620 nope, no timing job yet.

    Those extra 3 holes in the head, were they already threaded?

    • @RIP226
      @RIP226 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, those three extra holes are factory threaded... like the engineers of the engine block knew what they were doing, and the engineers of the OEM headers were told to save some money somewhere.

    Winter fuel blend? I think that contributes to varying MPGs. It's a less efficient blend. (Thanks for the video)

    • @RIP226
      @RIP226 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was the ignition coils. Also, if your winter blend is decreasing your MPG 4-5 gpm, something else is wrong.

    Why is the video so small? It’s like you have the orientation set wrong

    Its only been 4 months but is it still holding up?

    • @RIP226
      @RIP226 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Since, I've towed two 5klb tractors, a 2013 Cadillac, and a 1988 Ford super duty, all trailered, each more than 200 miles. One I towed 11 hours to it's destination and all without issue. Although I don't feel like there is noticeable additional power as BD claims, I do feel confident when towing thru the mountains and the power is equivalent to when the truck was new. I'm about to pull my trailer across the states for camping and am looking for to the drive.

      Update, yr++ later, it's still holding up now at 135k.

    Should have chased the manifold studs with a tap before installing the new ones.

    Update. At 12.45 I stated that i should've replaced the starter and I didn't bcs i didn't have one, but within a few months, that starter died. ALSO, innregard to gpm, I changed out my coils and spark plugs to AUTOZONE brand as I was in a pinch on vaca AND i immediately saw better gpm. Last tankbwas 21.2 gpm and that's running around the same neighborhoods I previously was getting 17-18gpm.
