Is it possible to seal the broken stud with a high heat exhaust manifold sealant as a temporary fix? Something like permatex copper silicone gasket maker which is specifically designed for use on exhaust gaskets
@@BarboursAutoHelp Tried it there is a noticeable improvement but its not completely gone. Sealed around the broken off bolt on the driver side. Worth the 5 dollars for sure though. Was able to get to it easily from under the truck.
Question for you on this- how imperative is this repair? I’m going to take it in as soon as possible, but I do have a little trip this weekend that I need my truck for. The shop more than likely won’t have a time slot available for another week or so anyways.
Oh, that's not a dumb question at all! Yes you could if the manifold isn't warped too much. But, it's such a nasty job. Do you really want to have to do it again? Sad to admit. I'm cheap at times myself and don't perform the correct of most robust repair. But, that's on my own vehicles. If it's a customer, they are getting it done right.
@@BarboursAutoHelp Thanks for the speedy reply. I appreciate it! My truck only makes the sound very intermittently and I'm the type of guy who works on my truck for fun lol. I was going to spend the $200 on a little mig welder so I can weld and nut to help extract broken manifold bolts instead of buying new exhaust manifolds. If I have to do the job again no biggie.
This freaking guy- best way “ take the cab off”” sure sounds pretty straight forward …. Good night
while your at it why not just replace the truck with a different one....
Would this cause the traction control light to come on with lack of performance I suspect my turbo but this is the exact noise I have
Great, thank you for the information
No problem!
Thanks I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure my squeal out.

Haven’t ever tried that. But, I would think that it would not hold up to the high back pressure. Not really sure.
@@BarboursAutoHelp thanks for the reply. For 5 dollars i think I will give it a try.

I've had this noise for a year it wont hurt anything, just annoying.
I think this might be my issue on my 2012 3.7 n/a 🙏🏼🙏🏼 gonna replace the studs and see if that does it
I don’t think an N/A vehicle would make the noise shown in video. What problem are you having?
very helpful.
Thank you
I have a dumb question, say I was feeling really cheap, couldn't I just change the broken bolt and the gasket and reuse the exhaust manifold?

I’m not sure what you’re asking. Can you clarify? Sorry for the inconvenience.
