Greetings from Finland. Nice to see you again & with Nightwish no less. For me both Tarja & Anette were great in performing Tuomas' music. However, Floor not only performs the songs, but gives them new life with her amazing vocals, gestures/body language & stage presence. Although I've been a Nightwish fan since they started, I got bored with Tarja's only operatic vocals, and Anette was a welcome change for me, but Floor replacing Anette was the ultimate dream come true for me.
Yeah, she's the total package!

I love this song. It is like a conversation between the two vocalists and then at the end the awesome very fluent positive vocal part: "We shall come to set the dolphins free...". It like changes from this dark pressing tone from a positive one in an instant and has a positive ending. And awesome song altogether. The genious of Tuomas Holopainen. This is also a great song when sang by Tarja too with Tapio Wilska as the male vocals. This was before Marko joined the band. But I have to admit that Marko's and Floor's vocals are a perfect match.

I always love the chemistry and in this case the all out theatricality Floor and Marko bring to a song like this. Everyone, though, was going all out. I love Emppu's glee. As soon as I heard about the concert being up for pre-order, (I think Floor announced it on her Facebook page) I pounced!

i understand what she means about tarja was booring, i dont agree about music being booring but tarjas voice didnt have what it takes for me either when i heard a cupple of songs the 3rd one started to get booring to me 2. the sound of her voice just was to much for me there was to litle change. no dissrespect to tarja i recognize a great singer when i hear one. just not my cup of tea :)
floor as u point out gives the songs new life, and it doesent become booring as she change her voice color all the time giving the songs a perfect sound 2 me at least :)

Hello from The Netherlands. It's Christmass and if you like to hear Floor sing operatic, check out her (metal)version of Oh Holy Night. She sings it in Finnish and the title is "oi jouluyö". By the way she was pregnant at the time and that makes her performance even more impressive!

Tarja was great but she was very one dimensional. What makes Floor amazing is how she can not only sing operatic, belt, and growl, but she can do it in he same song. When Tarja can cover some of Floor's Revamp work, like Precious and Misery is no Crime , then I will be impressed. Until then, Floor is the Queen.

I always take it pretty much like this. Without Tarja, there wouldn't be the Nightwish we have today (I mean, she's a root of the it). I understand that nowadays people like the modern version of Nightwish. They haven't been there from the birth if you will. Also, I don't want to fight who's done better job than other. Though I'm a bit towards that while Tuomas has evolved, even more, from the talent he had at the beginning. He's done amazing job writing music for everyone that is in Nightwish. Fans know what kind of abilities all three singers have had, and Tuomas has found a way with the albums. So there's always the live thing versus the album. I think most of fans are kinda like me. They just want to enjoy it, not trying to get into politics. Nightwish army and family is a pleasant one and shound't be lead in to any pissing contest. :)

We are one. There is no division.
I only like occasional operatics - the strange vowel modifications don't suit my ear. As for Floor's voice. She is nominally a soprano, but she has a really rich lower register without - there they are again - the odd vowel modifications of a Contralto. So between Floor and Aurora Aksnes, my range of favourite vocal styles is pretty much covered.

Boring?! I’m only 2:04 into the video but I take issue with the statement that Oceanborn is boring. To this day it’s probably their most technically proficient album. Whether that kind of thing floats your boat is one thing but to call it boring is just plain wrong! Maybe it’s just the guitar player in me speaking.

Well, i'm a singer, so i guess that's my primary perspective 😁 Besides, i listened to them when i didn't have that much musical experience (both as a listener and performer), and was heavily into prog. So, ium pretty sure, i will find more non-boring moments if i listen to it now.
For someone who likes Sepultura, Slayer or Megadeth Nightwish is boring.
I totally agree. I wouldn't have been into Nightwish before Floor. The talent was there but not the creative dynamics that shat she brings with her abilities and stage presence.

I have noticed that many fans feel very similar to her voice, that yes ... it is incredible, but Tarja is not versatile, and when she tries his own fans admit that it does not sound good, and personally the excess of vibrato that Tarja uses when she singing ..it's too much for me .
I think when floor came to Nightwish the comparisons were inevitable, Floor in a song can use her full vocal range
with different styles
and it makes you feel all different, besides her presence on stage is ... amazing
Floor will never try to sing old songs like tarja, not because she can't,
is because she doesn't want.

- they have different tones in their voices, so they appeal to different sides in me.
Its like listening to a different Song, if I change the Singer. Depending which mood I want, I choose the singer. Like the Sleeping Sun is maybe the best example of how differnet the songs get. And I like both versions, they are just for different moods.
And MEadows of Heaven I want to listen with Anette, and couple of others, like Amaranth, and Bye, Bye, Beautiful.

What? I don't understand what you're saying. First of all, you say their old stuff is boring even musically, but then you listen to this song, which is obviously an oldie, and then you say you like it and that it was really good? I mean, music is music, so if you didn't like this music back in the days then you shouldn't like it now, cause, i don't know if you noticed but, it's the same "boring" music that you said.
Second of all, if you're a progressive metal lady, then you should check The Greatest Show on Earth (live Tampere) and The Poet and the Pendulum (live at Wembley 2016), which i'm pretty sure is going to make you shed some tears since you love Floor so much and the melodies in that song are incredible and her performance as well. The first one lasts about 22 minutes long and the second one is about 14 minutes.
Have you ever heard that people's tastes can change after some time (and it's been about 10 years since i listened to Oceanborn and some other old albums) and additional musical experience?

their 2nd and 4th albums were their best power metal albums. oceanboarn was light years better than their debut. a slight decline on wishmaster but then century child knocked it out of the park.
The only way I can relate to NW being boring is when Anette joined. Couldn't stand the Dark Passion Play because of her vocals, not to mention her live performances. Floor and gave the band new life and they became stronger than ever. Floor doesn't overuse the operatic vocals either which feels fresh and interesting when singing older songs. Great reaction!

I so agree with you that Floor gives the song new life, cuz back in the day i didn't care much for Devil and the deep dark Ocean and Slaying the dreamer and some more, Simply cuz i hated Tarja's voice, half of it i could not understand the words And its not to be rude,cuz some songs with Tarja i really love, but she sounded like she had a hot potato in her mouth. With Floor i love those old songs and can't get enough of them

Yeah, you can produce the notes beautifully, but if you make no effort to communicate the words, it kind of falls flat.
