This is unbelievable difficult song to perform. After that high note, right before 05:00. after that. Its all perfect timing. And they are live.... so really incredible.

In his biography, Hietala states that he went to the surgery with no better knowledge. He later found out - to his dismay - that he could have solved the problems with his cords by voice / vocal therapy and rest.

My recommendation involves Floor, but is different: Epica feat Floor - Stabat Mater Dolorosa. It’s a very old song, but Simone and Floor are incredible in it.
This is a song from the bands first album(Edit: 2nd album), which makes it very special for long time fans. It was originally recorded with Tarja and the bands first bass player Sami Vanska. The male vocals was originally spoken in sort of a deathmetal way, Marko choose a different approach. However I really enjoy both versions of this track. Other nice songs could be, Song of Myself(Wacken), Greatest Show on Earth(Tampere), I want my Tears back(Wacken)... or perhaps some of the folk metal from Endless forms; Elan(Wembley/Tampere), My Walden(Wembley, Tampere) or Alpenglow(Wembley/Tampere).

Thanks to Beste Zangers, but even more thanks to reactions as yours I discovered Floor and Nightwish (and After Forever too - a "little" too late). In Nightwish Floor is in her element you say. For me Floor is elementary to the music, she makes every song so much better and more personal.
I really hope everyone from Beste Zangers stays in touch. I'd love to see them bring each other on as guests, too. Maybe have Rolf Sanchez do Floor's rendition of Que Se Siente. If any of them took something away from that show beyond lifelong friendships, it should be how much they branched out and explored other styles. Oh, and Henk blew me away. He has such good chemistry with Floor, and almost had a proud look every time she performed. His Sound of Silence may be the highlight of the entire show for me. I really want them to do more stuff together, and hope Nightwish does bring him on for a recorded live performance.

Wow Valerie windmilling in a corset... Thats serious imagery and with your presence youd nail it on the first take. Have you done Song of Myself from Wacken 2013? She does the Floor thing. Using dynamics and changes and staccatos. Its a great song and Tuomas' writing is extremely good.
Marco Hietala from Nightwish (the base player) also sang in a metal band for kids called Hevisaurus , though the only video where you can see his face is Hevisaurus - 100 because he's dressed up as a heavy metal dinosaur.
One interesting thing about the male vocal part in this is that it was written for Tuomas, the keyboard player. Marco (the bass player and male vocal in the band now) joined the band later, and he has a much different vocal style, which perhaps explains why Marco here sounds a bit spoken-word.

This song is a great example of Floor now being able to vary her vocal colour almost continuously. There are a few passages in this song where floor changes tambre every 2-3 words, which I don't recall her doing so rapidly before the Decades tour. She also did it in a few songs on Beste Zangers, it's particularly noticeable in I Don't Know a Thing About Love.
This, but I would suggest the Wembley 2015 version instead. The vocals are a lot clearer, which is probably more important for Valerie than the arrangement.

Hello. This song goes way back. It may be just me, but I think Floor added a bit more distortion in this rendition than neither in Bloodstock nor in Wacken. You are so right that she is really keeping her posture and her back straight and my guess is that is one of the reasons why she wears high heels, because they really don´t allow her to hunch over too much without losing balance - aiding instruments. I could be completely wrong about that, though. You should react to Tapio Wilska singing the male vocals on this one. Marcos voice don't really fit this song in my opinion. Needs more depth. I heard this song in Tallin with Marco and couple weeks later in Lahti with Tapio on same tour. Fits much better.

Hello. This song goes way back. It may be just me, but I think Floor added a bit more distortion in this rendition than neither in Bloodstock nor in Wacken. You are so right that she is really keeping her posture and her back straight and my guess is that is one of the reasons why she wears high heels, because they really don´t allow her to hunch over too much without losing balance - aiding instruments. I could be completely wrong about that, though.

Btw...I'm a bit confused about vocal range classification. If my range goes from A#2 to A#5, am I contralto or mezzo-soprano? I googled famous alto's and somewhere they are classified as alto's and somewhere as mezzo's.

You should react to Tapio Wilska singing the male vocals on this one. Marcos voice don't really fit this song in my opinion. Needs more depth. I heard this song in Tallin with Marco and couple weeks later in Lahti with Tapio on same tour. Fits much better.
