    I just want to warn parents here on pacifiers after 3/4 months. I just helped a child get off of his pacifier, which was making him waking him wake up alll night for 9 months. Around 10 months I literally watched him go through WITHDRAWAL it was so sad and scary! Please remember that before 8 months they forget about their pacifiers in one day, after is harder.
    Independent sleep can also be hard if your child isn’t used to calming themselves on their own (a skill they will need their entire life). I also just helped my friend and her son get off “the boob”. She was only feeding him (15mo) at this point for a while for comfort, not for nourishment. She started doing this quickly around after we got him off his pacifier. He never learned all of the skills he needed to calm himself… now that it’s starting to be tantrum season, I’m glad I am not their caregiver! Speaking of which please always look for a caregiver that gives notes and if they do make a suggestion like “I’ve noticed xyz… have you thought of ??” Please realize they are with your child a lot and their input is important. Especially if, like my amazing caregiver they ask so very kindly. Most Nannie’s don’t take the time to log baby’s every day tasks and food and other notes-appreciate them. I have also worked doing this and it’s a LOT on a young girl doing it by herself. If your caregiver has been working with infants and toddlers even though they may not be a parent, they likely know more than you and have a different outlook.
    I’ve seen way too many refer to these magical humans as babysitters and not pay them enough or treat them well. I don’t know what I would’ve done without mine!! I’m hoping to be able to make the same impact now that my daughter is older

      I see a lot of sleep problems arise with pacifiers around 12 weeks old. But some babies manage it just fine.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge! We have a 7 week old baby and we have been feeding her every 3 hours since she was born with the schedule 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm, 10pm, 1 am and 4 am. We are trying to reduce her middle of the night feeding down to 1 and we are trying to do 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 6:30pm, 9pm, 11:30pm and the middle of the night we are trying to get the baby to stretch it using a pacifier to sooth her. However our baby has not been sleeping much at night at all and she would wake up multiple times instead of just 2 times. Is this something that would usually happen at first when we merge feeding and gradually get better? or are we doing it wrong? We really hope to get some clarification from you, thank you!

      If she was sleeping well between feeds before you started trying to drop the feed, then I would guess she isn't ready to drop that feed yet. See this post for tips for dropping night feeds: www.babywisemom.com/how-to-drop-middle-of-the-night-feeding/

    After 2 weeks of sleep training my daughter still wakes up at least 3 times during the night. I let her cry until she settles as she usually fall back to sleep in 3-5 minutes, but we seriously struggling with this short period of time 😭

      Make sure she isn’t hungry. If she wakes up within 45-60 minutes, she is probably hungry. I would try feeding and see how she sleeps after that.

      @@BabywiseMom thank you, but she is 10 months old stopped feeding her during night around 2 months ago.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@krisztinaszlezsuk7195 Hunger can still happen at 10 months old, but it is unlikely that night wakings would happen from that if they have been sleeping through the night. Check for sickness, teething, or ear infections. There is a sleep regression that hits sometime between 8-10 months old, though it is unusual for that to affect night sleep for a baby STTN.

      Family I worked for woke up 5-7 times a night for a year until they finally let me intervene lol. They were giving the baby all these weird melatonin supplements and not teaching it to calm itself.
      This time is hard! But we’ll worth it! I’ve been working as a caregiver for over a decade

      @@BabywiseMom it could also be from a nightmare. If not for any of the reasons you listed, most commonly is because they don’t have the tools to calm themselves down. Nix the binkys, let them it out unless they get a little too upset!

    A little confused though. You mention the five S’s as a way to sleep train but those tools are not teaching your baby to fall asleep independently.. they still rely on sleep associations (swaddles, pacifier) and interventions by parents (shushing and sifting).

      It is the 4 S's, not the 5 S's. The 5 is from Happiest Baby on the Block. I am referring to the 4 from the Baby Whisperer. I have a video on that if you want to learn more! It works really well for teaching babies to sleep independently.

    Is drugging up the baby okay? I ask because Shannon watts had her daughters addicted to Benadryl.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know who Shannon Watts is. I personally am a person who avoids medication as much as possible. I never medicate to induce sleep. I haven’t even ever given my kids melatonin, which has become popular in recent years. I want my kids to be independent sleepers and not dependent on medication for sleep.

    sure would have been helpful to recap the four s's. gotta watch a different video for that? no thanks.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To explain it took an entire video, so to have done it again in this video would have doubled the length of the video. The basics are "Setting the stage for sleep, swaddling baby, and sitting." Then if needed, you shhh pat baby. You can read more here: www.babywisemom.com/gentle-sleep-training-the-four-ss/
