    Hi, so glad to find your channel! Im coming here from reading babywise and we are following this with miss 4 week old. Im struggling to navigate the mornings as im a farmer and i need to be at shed or tractor for about an hour from 7am to about 8ish sometimes only 45mins approx. I had set 6am morning wake up so that we are going down for nap at 7pm in carseat but she doesnt always sleep well or stay asleep once we are back home or i have to get her out for some reason and we end up being awake and then when home i feed her to get her to settle and everything goes out the window. Then next nap is normally ok . How could i make this work?

      @@michaelastockwell3252 I would get her up as late as you can in the morning so her awake time can be while you are out on the farm. That wake window will still be longer than ideal for her age. If you have the option, another idea is to get someone to come sit in the house while she sleeps and you are out on the farm.

    Hello! Just started babywise with my 5 month old! I'm a little nervous about how to handle wake ups in the middle of the night. He is a really gassy baby and also had reflux as an infant so I'm jaded as far as wanting to pick up and soothe. He has dropped his middle of the night feed but still seems to wake up and scream multiple times of the night. How would you handle those wake ups? Just allow him to scream for 15 minutes? Do you pick him?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If his behavior is super different, it might be wise to just go see his doctor to get checked out. I wouldn't say a lack of interest in toys is a sign of a growth spurt.

      You should be able to, but you will definitely want to talk with your doctor and also wait and see how you are feeling. I wouldn't be committed to it in case you end up not feeling well enough to go. So I would have everything able to be canceled.

    Also! What happens when they get older?! How does the feeding schedule change?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As they get older, they can go longer between feedings at night. So they extend night sleep until they are 10-12 hours between feedings. In the daytime, they eventually move to every 4 hours for daytime feeds.

  • @Lifeof_fantasia
    @Lifeof_fantasia 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    In the baby wise book it says every 2-3 hours? Has it changed? Will they stay asleep for that long?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It says what is every 2-3 hours? Night feeds? It hasn't said that. It says up to 5 hours until 5 weeks. Your baby might eat more often than 5 hour, but don't let them go more than 5 hours between feeds at night. For daytime, it is 2.5-3 hours.

    Hi! Thank you so much for all this information. It is helping me with my 4th newborn, who is now 10 weeks. I do have a question: I’m not sure what to do because since I have 3 other children, and I have to take them to school in the morning, the baby ends up having a short nap in the car seat driving around in the van. How can I avoid this? Wake time is 7 AM, but we have to leave the house at 8 AM to drive to school and I’m not home until 9:15 AM because I take my 6yo to kindergarten and my 4yo to preschool.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are so welcome! At this age, I wonder if your newborn would start the nap in the car with the car ride being that long and then just finish the nap once you got home. If not, I would see if you can get that morning wake up time as late as you can so that playtime is in the carseat essentially while you are driving. I have a couple of posts for you to read: www.babywisemom.com/how-to-maintain-sleep-schedule-amid-disruptions/ www.babywisemom.com/managing-baby-plus-older-kids-activities/

    What does the schedule look like when cluster feeding, how do you do EWS in the 2 hours? My 15 week old still wakes 1-2x in the night, with no difference with a dream feed. Recently she always wants another feed just when I am putting her down after bath/ bedtime routine at 830, but how do I avoid feeding her to sleep?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cluster feeding can turn into a series of dreamfeeds, so your baby might be basically asleep when feeding. So you would feed at 6, 8, and 10 (as an example). A baby who does cluster feeding is young enough that awake time is not more than an hour (including feedings), so you still have EWS cycle. The naps are just short. So feed at 6, bed at 7, then if you feed at 8, you want to feed and go right back down, and at 10 feed and go right back down.

      So long as everything is okay, I would just let them go. Make yourself busy cleaning up or doing something and just wait for the tantrum to end. You want to show a tantrum doesn't get results. You have to really channel a calm happy place and put on a good acting face :)

    Thank you for this, it was very helpful in answering some questions I've had. Do you recommend waking baby to feed, if baby is sleeping well? How and when does the routine become more consistent?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are very welcome! Yes I do recommend to wake a sleeping baby when it is time to eat. All three of my girls had to be woken up to eat almost all of the time. With that, if you are on a 2.5 hour feeding schedule and the baby is still asleep, I would be willing to do 3 hour for that cycle so long as it didn't interfere with the total number of feedings in that day. In other words, you want to make sure your baby would still get enough feedings in the day. Also, sometimes you try to wake your baby up for a feeding and that just doesn' work out. In that case, try for about 10 minutes to wake baby up, then let baby sleep for another 30 ish minutes and try again.

  • @letia2622
    @letia2622 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi, what if your baby’s nap is short, like 30-1 hr? Do you still feed right after the nap and start the cycle again?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your baby is hungry, yes. Feed right away. If not, you can wait up to 30 minutes before feeding baby to try to stay closer to a 2.5 hour feeding cycle.

    Couldn't click on this video fast enough! My 12 week old is on a 3 hour schedule (wake windows 60-90 mins) with 4 naps a day but wakes up 45 minutes (1 wake cycle) into her naps, particularly as the day progresses. Sometimes she's quietly sucking on her hands and whinging a bit but often all out wailing. When she's wailing I'll wake a few minutes then quickly resettle her but that doesn't help. Since she's woken up 45 mins (at least) early, then her wake window before the next nap is messed up. She usually sleeps the entire length of the 1st nap, 2nd nap is 50/50, but the 3rd and 4th naps it's a guarantee she wakes up 45 mins in. The 2nd nap of the day she can sometimes re-settle herself back to sleep or doze on and off. The only suggestions my experienced Babywise mamas have is to put her to sleep on her tummy (not willing to do that though) and make sure she's getting good feeds. I'm desperate for answers!

      Hello! There can be a lot of reasons for 45 minute naps. See this post for all of the tips. www.babywisemom.com/how-to-finally-stop-the-45-minute-intruder/

    How do you get a 7 week old to transition from co sleeping to sleeping in their own bed

      I would recommend you check out sleep training the 4 S's. Read about it here: www.babywisemom.com/training-in-times-of-non-conflict/

    My 10 month old was sleeping through the night for months 7 and 8 but around month 9 started waking again and now it's twice a night! Urgh. I will try to start a consistent wakeup. Also will try timing feedings plus adding ounces during the day! I don't want to nurse past her first birthday so it's time to wean off.

      Also consider a sleep regression. Here is a post about sleep regressions for that age range: www.babywisemom.com/conquering-the-8-10-month-sleep-regression/

    sure would have been helpful to recap the four s's. gotta watch a different video for that? no thanks.

      To explain it took an entire video, so to have done it again in this video would have doubled the length of the video. The basics are "Setting the stage for sleep, swaddling baby, and sitting." Then if needed, you shhh pat baby. You can read more here: www.babywisemom.com/gentle-sleep-training-the-four-ss/

    I’m trying this method on my 3week old baby. She cries more than 5 minutes and what’s to nurse again. Should I nurse her or pick her up, both?

      Wants**

      @BabywiseMom 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If she is wanting to nurse because she is hungry, feed her. But going forward, make sure she has a full feed at her feeding time so she doesn't want to nurse when you are putting her down for a nap. If she wants to nurse because she wants to nurse to sleep, I wouldn't do that.

    I needed this so much. I'm 6 months pregnant and my son is 19 months and throwing fits left and right. I'm with him all week and work on the weekends and sometimes it just seems like 24/7 screaming and fussing. I get upset and just want to cry sometimes. I'm working on myself more. Before my pregnancy I would be able to handle this but now I feel like I'm going crazy. He does know some sign language and I'm just trying to slow it down and hopefully get him to try and communicate more. I really appreciate this video so much. I'll try everything and pray it helps ❤

      It can be really hard when you are pregnant! I know when I was pregnant, I was more tired and didn't feel well, so I let things go I wouldn't have if I was not pregnant. Hang in there and do the best you can!

    I cannot get baby to sleep longer than four hour stretches. She is six months, 21 lbs. she can put herself to sleep. How do I get her to go longer? We are doing a dream feed. We are still getting up with her at least twice.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You want to figure out WHY she is waking at that time. It is always good to rule out hunger. If you put her back to sleep in the middle of the night (or she goes back to sleep), what happens? Does she wake up an hour later? If so, it is likely hunger. If not, then she is waking for another reason. See this post for help with night sleep: www.babywisemom.com/nightime-sleep-issues-revised-and/

    What if your baby cluster feeds all night? 😫 barely over a week old and pediatrician says they're already almost back at their birth weight I don't wake them up to feed. I feed on demand.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you also feed on demand during the daytime? If so, I would work on doing a solid eat/wake/sleep routine in the daytime. Wake you baby to eat in the day time so you don't need night feeds. But also look into day/night confusion www.babywisemom.com/daynight-confusion/

    I’m having one in the morning, and being able to rest is one of my biggest fears. I have three kids who are just tornadoes and I don’t know how to keep up with them and the house. I’m just not used to not taking care of someone.

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope you are able to rest and rely on some help for your kids. I like to avoid screen time overload, but if you have to do this primarily on your own, I would definitely allow the screen time to go up. All of you can sit and watch movies together. It will take some detox when you are done, but you NEED to rest. And get your kids to help you! Kids love to help. So have them run and do things for you and get things for you. You can also do things like have your kids put on a play for you or act out their favorite movie for you.

    What if I’ve been breastfeeding baby to sleep how to I transition to eat wake sleep cycle?

    • @BabywiseMom
      @BabywiseMom ปีที่แล้ว

      You want to transition to baby being able to fall asleep independently and not rely on external methods. So I would look at different sleep training methods and see what you are comfortable with and go with that!
