    Super clear and concise video man, thank you! Just a heads up for anyone with a 2023, the torque specs are different according the owner's manual. The oil filter cover screws are 7.4lbf ft, the oil drain plug is 9.6lbf ft, and the oil screen screw plug is 8.1lbf ft.

      No problem! It’s a pain they don’t give you an actual manual, only availability is online. But yeah, glad to help! Easy enough task but you can mess it up if not careful. Those torque specs are really low. Thanks for watching!

      Appreciate the positive feedback and for watching! These bikes are pretty straightforward as far as oil changes go, however, like anything else you CAN mess it up.

    great help with the oil change video. Can you tell me what brand/model rear stand you're using for the Vitpilen?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad the video was helpful! I’m just using a cheap stand from Amazon. I wouldn’t recommend it however. If you can swing it, the pitbull stand is really the way to go. I’m using a pitbull for my Aprilia and Ducati. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

    Thx for the guide, Just wanted to ask you about the oil level, just got my new vit 401 this week, I haven't ridden it yet because I have to get the reg number plates, and I m a bit worried because there no oil showing even when I tilt it...

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that’s normal. You’ll have to look in the manual for the exact procedure because I don’t want to tell you wrong. IIRC you have to let the engine get to operating temperature, let it sit for a minute, then check the level. Again, confirm this in the manual just in case I’m not remembering right.

    Hey! What year is this? I have a 2023 and am lost at the part where you drain the oil the second time.
    Thank you

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is a 2022. I’m not sure what you mean by drain the oil the second time. You only drain the oil once, there’s just multiple locations where it drains from. Maybe rewatch the video from the beginning so you don’t miss anything?

      @@ridewithKY Sorry I was not clear! I was in the moment trying to change the oil and comment here off my phone. The part at 5:36 - I was unable to get to that filter! My bike has this metal protector on the bottom and I was unable to get it off to get access to this filter. Was a big bummer.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Got it, that skid plate comes off easily. There’s a handful of 8mm bolts that hold it on. Should be able to look at it and it’s self explanatory after that. However, if you are having issues with that part you might want to just take it in for service. Not worth damaging your bike if you can’t figure it out with confidence.

    Hello; do you say that the TOP SPEED is what suggested for the manufacture but is not; they suggest the FORMULA 4T.

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong… formula 4T and top speed are interchangeable per the bike manufacturer and the oil manufacturer…

      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว

      4T Top speed is recommended by KTM as well as 4T Formula. They are interchangeable per the bike manufacturer and the oil manufacturer… of course we have to be careful about what oils we put in our bikes but in this case they are interchangeable. No need to be contrarian over something that doesn’t affect the bike.

    What about the service reset on the dash?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว

      The first service reset has to be done by the dealer. If you don’t have the dealer do the first reset, you can’t reset it on your own. I’ve heard people say the older Vit’s can be reset at home without going to the dealer for the first reset but it will only reset for 1000KM’s. After the dealer resets the first one, it will change the interval to 7500KM’s.

    • @kaktusz9184
      @kaktusz9184 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ridewithKY interesting mine just need a oil change and it has 5000km in it also the dash says the “service reset” just like when it had 1000km in it

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว

      The dealer can change the intervals. You can’t change it yourself unfortunately. Then you have the newer ones where you can’t reset it at all without the dealer doing the first reset.

    Do you need to use thread lock for doing this?

    • @ridewithKY
      @ridewithKY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The only area where you might want to are the little 8mm bolts for the oil filter. I just use proper torque but I can see someone justifying use of threadlock there.

      Definitely get an inch pound torque wrench for these bikes. The torque spec is really low on most of the fasteners.

    FYI, 15W-50 is "always" synthetic, and available from a variety of brand names. So Google around. I've seen it under the Napa brand, Valvoline, Gravely ... and of course, Mobile 1. Why Gravely, for example? It's used in some zero-turn hydro motors. In other words it doesn't matter if they call it hydro fluid or if they call it motor oil ... if it's 15W-50, then it's good.

    • @ridewithKY

    • @thenexthobby
      @thenexthobby ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ridewithKY You may recall *I never claimed* it never existed. There's even quote marks surrounding my use of the word "always" in my initial post. That denotes the possibility of uncertainty, to most readers.
      Please accept my apologies, for Mobile 1 being "literally the first search result" *for me*. Which as far as I'm aware, is full synthetic. More importantly, as are most of the rest, however I do now see a semi-synthetic listed.
      My point --- if we're caring about context --- and not pedantic factoids, is that 15W-50 may not be as readily available locally but to not forget about searching online for it ... whether a rider wants synthetic or otherwise. Then again, maybe someone's local store will "literally" have 15W-50 on display "literally" right next to the door, making it "literally" easy to find.

      It’s okay to admit when you are wrong man... Nobody knows everything. It’s when you double down after being wrong is the problem. Conventional is used often for break-in oil, including 15W50.
