  • This video demonstrates replacing a tie rod end and a sway bar link on a 2001 Audi TT. This process is very similar to most other cars and is an exact tutorial for all mk1 Audi TT's (1999-2006). This video is part of a TT suspension playlist. Check it out if you want to see more suspension and driveline videos.
    Here are the links for the items I used in the video:
    Right tie rod end: amzn.to/2tCS0Mk
    Left tie rod end: amzn.to/2tCX7w1
    Left stabilizer link: amzn.to/2tFpeKx
    Right stabilizer link: amzn.to/2tCPoOC
    Thanks for watching!

    can you offer a person on how you remove the bolts off the sway bar link. Since there was no actual demonstration video of removing but only of the tie rod.

    I have recently acquired a 2008 Audi tt from my brother. He was deployed for quiet some time and the car sat the duration in what I would consider poor conditions. I finally convinced him to give me it and while bringing it home I was on the highway going about 40-50 whenever I'd take a corner or turn or hit a bump the car would swerve the opposite way. Was terrifying felt like the car would do a full 360 or something I pulled over and stopped at a near auto zone I was told before from a lady that it was tie rods and she swore up and down about it but I didn't feel that was the case. I assumed either the sway bar, end linkages, or even bushings. I finally got it in the air and was able to get pics. Its looks like the sway bar end links are shot. Please help me locate this issue can send pics

    Thanks, Ry. Do you have the torque specs for the two bolts for the sway bar links? I've seen so many conflicting options, from 15, 25, to even 90nm... any help?

      If you're talking about the M12x1.5 hex nuts, my repair manual says 90 Nm (always replace if removed).

    Did you tighten the sway bar link bolts with the suspension under load as if not when you lower the vehicle the rubber on the links will be under strain and the links will deteriorate quickly

    Does anybody know if any of this things can cause the stabilizer light come on in the dashboard.?
    My 2000 tt loses speed when over 45miles p/hr. So I press the button and it drives just fine. Anyone had this issue before?

    • @JettaRedIII
      @JettaRedIII 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scan for codes. You may have a failing ABS speed sensor (though the ABS light should come on) or other sensor related problem. If you car drives "fine" with ESP off, then it's definitely some kind of electronic malfunction.

      I have no codes. I took it to have tires replaced "used rires"and after that , it started acting up. I has the tires checked for right size and they're fine. Im going to replace the abs sensors now .
      Cause I can only drive at high speed with the ASR button off.

      @JettaRedIII 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should have specified that you need to scan the ABS controller. You need something like a VAG-COM or Autel Scanner that will scan everything, not just generic OBD codes. Did you do that?

    • @dannysa503
      @dannysa503 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JettaRedIII no i haven't , but yes that is my next step. i just need to get hold of one of those special scanner for audi , i guess ill end up buying one.

      VCDS (VAG-COM) from www.ross-tech.com/ is probably your best option. Full featured, allows limited programming (configuration changes), and is reasonably priced. Something like an Autel MaxiDAS is good for a bunch of cars, but also for the very serious DIYer.
      Update: The iCarsoft i980 is another good option www.icarsoft.com/Product/s-311-iCarsoft_Multi_system_Scanner_i908.html. Check on amazon.
