This was so good to watch and has boosted my confidence in taking on a lot of bushes in my TT Mk2. I have a lot of knocking and clanking front and back and a list of the culprits. These front anti roll bar bushes are two of them and I know I can do them now. I’ll comb through your suspension videos to try and take some of the panic away as it will be quite expensive to get a garage to do the whole lot. Appreciate you taking the time to put this up.
Hi Tom, thanks for the comment and support. Find a good weather day, make a brew and just take your time. Its a great feeling when you have done it yourself and a great way to learn more about your car. I hope it goes smoothly for you. Let me know how you get on 👍
Looking for same for my A3 1.9tdi 8P1 2006 (Mk2?); this is the nearest; and all; video I've been able to find so far, that actually really tell's you (me) anything really meaningful in practice! So thank you! How long would a jubilee clip against rubber actually do anything and last? However, my biggest problem so far, is actually 'confirming' the 'correct' bushes to obtain, even though the front ARB bar is 22ml (+, because it's actually hard to definitively measure!) via using a vernier caliper? Same for the rear (21mm (so 20.7?). That includes using Febi Bilstein in trying to find (and confirm) the actual correct part/s! Audi seem to have ensured these are a nightmare to service / maintain! (among other things!)?
@@Richard_L_Y hey Richard thanks for the comment and support. So if you have a tape measure for clothing, one that is flexible enough to wrap around the bar so you can get a good measure of the bar diameter. If it's a 22 mm then a 20 mm bushing will work great. General rule is do use a busing 2 mm less in size as that creates a nice tight fit. The idea of the bushing is a tight fit nothing more as the bar will flex slightly left and right during cornering but the drop links will ensure everything stays in place as designed. Yes a little lock tight on the clamp bolts can be used. The audi design with plastic covers suggests a new anti role bar being installed which is crazy and expensive, just not needed. Let me know how you get on 👍
@@Witty924 Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply; every little bit of info helps! e.g. for threadlock, it's also good to use as an anti-corrosive, even if not needed otherwise!
If it works for you absolutely do it. I found it easier to do with the brackets removed to ensure the bushes sat correctly as I downsized the bushes given that the orginal bushes also had a plastic houses that crackes off over time. Hope that helps 👍
Hi got one questin, what should be the size of the swaybar bushing after remouving plastic sleve that seat on the bar ? What is the diemeter ? I bought 21mm and iam thing about Puting 20mm polibushing, i Reali dont know what to do
Hi Mikolaj, thanks for the comment. I went for 19mm without the plastic sleeve. Has worked great and held the bar well. Just double check the size of your anti roll bar as mine is on a 180bhp quattro. Good luck with the job and hope all goes well 👍
Hi Playrac, thanks for the comment and the support. So with your new coilovers I assume its got the drop link bracket built in. Its should be ok with OEM as the coilover suppliers would have built this into the upgrade in the product so allowing you to plug and play. That said you will get a feel for this once fitted and depending on how low you drop the car. Let me know how you get on 👍
@@monoton9597 ah OK got it. So with the airbox removed can you see the bolt that holds the bracket for the hose that's connect to the anti roll bar bush? Or is it not access at all?
@@Witty924haha, i wasn’t able to get it by my tools. Thank you for helping. Do u think broken plastic thing with original sized swaybar bushing can cause clunking? HI guys anybody did this on a 225 TT? I need it done on mine. What size should I buy the poly one? 20mm? and what size is the 2 old bolt if I need to replace them with new ones mine looks very rusty so would prefer to put new bolts too. Thank you
Hi Sandor, so if you plan not to buy a new anti-roll bar and your plastic sleeves where the bushes sit are still intact then stay with the 20mm bushing. If the plastic sleeves are broken which mine where then you can go for the 19mm bushing they work great. I replaced the bolts with M8 x 20mm 8.8 ones as I had some spare and they worked great. Let me know how you get on ;)
Hey! Great vid, usefull ;) I wonder, what is the inner size of the bushings, since without the plastic, it need to be smaller ? 20, 21 mm ? By the way, the side with larger ( two bolds ) plate depend on TT model . I have it, and yes, it’s a pain :/
Hi Rene, thanks for the comment 👍 so the new bushes I fitted were 19mm. They have done a great job of holding the bar in place. A small dab or grease on the arb and the drop links means no squeaks too. Happy to report the car is running great. 🚙💨
@@renedewael9703 if the plastic sleeves are in good condition with no cracks then 20mm will be good. Best to take them off if they are not in top condition as it will save you doing the job twice 👍

Is it still holding together well?
Hi HSK thanks for the comment. Yes its held together really well, no squeaking or clunking, and still feels tight in the steering and suspension 🤞👍
