2013 Civic EX owner here. Still have it 8 years later and at 120k miles. Haven't had any maintenance issues with the car at all yet, great car that I'm hoping to hold onto a bit longer. Maybe I'll trade in for the 2022 Civic...still waiting for more details on that car.
You're right - he showed us the chrome trimmings, but the dude didn't open the trunk to show us more cargo space, and he didn't even seat in the back to demonstrate more leg room.
Standard version is a good update all around, However where us younger guys are concerned, the SI better be much more badass and better squeeze more HP or it will continue to be passed up for other cars on the road. Hope they listen to the si crowd.
I don't think I've seen a major car manufacturer work so hard after a bad introduction to update the car the next year, quite extraordinary. And it paid off, glad I was able to get one of these used instead of the 2012, looks like a great value, car handles wonderfully, easy to get around with, which is what it really is all about in the end.
bought a 2013 civic LX and can tell you that road noise has been improve so much that its way better than previous generations. I've owned a 2004 civic lx and 2006 civic si. This new civic is a lot smoother and quieter. I bought the 06SI new but the 04LX used. Under 20MPH you cant hear any road noise. Might just need more quieter tires. 2013 cones standard with blutooth hands free talking/music, steeringwheel mounted stereo controls, backup camera, and vehicle stability control with TC.
It's a shame we won't get that touring model in the US. The rims are recycled from a 2009-2011 Si with a darker finish. Looks nice, but I know Honda won't offer them here.
hey, i lived in Belgrade, where they ONLY used salt during the winter, and we still have a 25 year old golf that runs great (besides aur Audi A3 and passat)
I think the 2006 redesign looks better than all the rest in recent years. Of course the dated but classic 1995 model is by far the most recognized one on the streets, since getting its gangsta cred in the height of the Honda street tuning. I really like the new Accords and Acuras as someone mentioned earlier, but the jury is still out on this new civic's looks. The bells and whistles seem to be attractive, but the body and lines leave little to be desired. Peter Schreyer help please.

I don't take their rhetoric as gospel because it's right in front of our eyes that the differences between the 2012 and 2013 are huge. You can't put certain things on paper, an Acura TL SH AWD gets .88G on the skidpad and the BMW 335i Sport gets the same but guess which car feels better in the corners? The BMW! You can't put certain things on paper.
I disagree, they bought the car despite the reviews and most people most consumers who bought it probably won't be able to tell the difference between the 12 and 13. Seems as though a lot of 2012 Civic owners don't really regret their purchase. The resale value won't suck, just because of the Civic badge on the front and rear. It was the media that really made Honda want to update this car after a year. No one who bought a 12 was dissatisfied
Why hasn't the International version of the civic been updated still? We still have the cheap looking interior compared to that new classier looking dashboard. The exterior isn't that bad, very understated but it is the current interior that would keep me from buying one. It must keep many people away here in Australia, as we also sell the Euro Civic hatch and that sells triple the amount the sedan does.
Actually the media and general reception of the redesign is very good. This is what the 2012 Civic should have been. The '13 Accord is also a slam dunk.

I respect Honda for this. They could have done nothing to the civic and it would still sell in large numbers. (see: Corolla). But the fact that they took the initiative to improve their car to make their customers happy, to give them a better car for almost the same amount of money is very commendable.
I agree I'm a honda/toyota guy but even I believe hyundai has vastly improved on their quality/reliablity in the recent years if I had 35k to drop I would consider the Genesis coupe touring
Test drove a 2012 6 months ago and it felt light and tinny compared to the previous generation which was excellent. It seems as if Honda upped their game with the 2013 but because of their frack up with the 2012 they lost me as a customer. Moving onto something else.
Going to be a huge hit at that price point and quality build. Seriously why buy a corolla or Elantra, when you can get a substantial and better driving experience that will hold up and retain high value? Impressed Honda reacted to feedback from it's customers so quickly.
The update is good, the front wasn't horrible on the '12. The back end was horrible, looks more in with the family now. But still wouldn't want to buy a Honda, just personal pref but definatly looks better.
I just purchased an 08 Civic coupe. I was a huge fan of the 06-11 cars. When the 12 came out I was very disappointed in Honda. I think they knocked the Civic out of the park for 13. Honda is back on track again. Well done, Honda.
still no manual override on the automatic transmission (or paddle shifters), who do I have to deal or sleep with at Honda to get that feature, seriously.
I'm a fan of the new Elantra as well but the thing with Honda, especially their civics, is that their reliability is unmatched. It's still the best while the Elantra hasn't been proven yet since it's still new. But thank goodness for better cars by Hyundai and Kia. If it weren't for them I think Honda and Toyota would be snoozing their way to giving us boring cars.
videos it seem crome, not gun metal crome, i have to wait and see on the dealer when they arrive on jan... tempting to buy one but i cant take of my mind the 8th gen, other thing i dont see about the 2013 is lip kits, what is a sport model without lip kits...
i like it, sat in one and would buy over any other car in the class because the car is well balanced and fresh unlike some others in this class it fits different personalities in my opinion .
I like the previous back and front better, and the previous generation was better than that. I saw a '13 next to a '12, not much different and still a nightmare to look at. Too many independent thoughts that mismatch and come off terribly. I hate the front.. melted fish look with perhaps a cow nose ring mixed in. The back is too much with the tail lamps. Too powerful, it overwhelms the back end. The chrome heading straight into the lamp look is bleh as well.
3:45 ; 7.7L per 100 kilometer = 30.6MPG. My 1999 Civic automatic gets that. No new Earth Dreams engines for the 2013 Civic; no Direct Injection, no auto/stop even. Toyota is planning on using lean burn engines in their future hybrids, I hope Honda does the same as they did with the 5th and 6th gen Civic VX amd HX trims (and some 7th gens)
hondas and toyotas are much more reliable than kia, hyundai, etc. everyone knows this. if you just want a cool car get an audi, vw or bmw. they will all break down. the reason for toyota's and honda's popularity is because of their reliability, not just their brand name.
Wrong - working for Honda dealers I say they got enough problems, the bugs and recall books at the dealer are thick enough. the same goes for all makes and models. the best you can say that it's a dissent car The best car, in my opinion is the one that still has a valid warranty Cars got a lot more high tech under the hood today, hence more things to fix and it's not cheap either. for north Americans I recommend to get domestic cars - the maintenance is cheaper & you support local industry
kelly blue book actually gave the 2012 civic the best resale value award for compact cars. people are responsible for their own actions. you act like a typical consumer, as if you are entitled to excellence.
if you're keeping your car for 10 years, you should be more focused on value and how much you will enjoy the car over those years. i don't see why you would care for resale value if you're keeping your car that long or even until it dies. now if you changed cars every few years, that would be a different story

I didn't buy it because I was able to see the faults of the car so how am I acting like I need to have my hand held? I still think big companies have a responsibility to live up to the market's expectations since consumers are the ones who are fueling their business. Bottom line they want to make money so if people hit them where it hurts, their wallet, they will get their act together.
starting price for civic lx manual is 18 after tax and licensee and destination fee is 21. I looked around and all the other cars where near and over the price of the civic and giving much less in features and ride quality. Most of the others like focus, dart, elantra, mazda 3 where too expensive. Try finding a base model and its ugly with less features than the civic lx for even more money because they add stupid optional crap.

I think a company has a responsibility with regards to ethics (unwritten I know) and Honda broke just about every ethical rule with the 2012.
Some still like their 2012 but then again they're hipsters who don't drive past 60 because the environment is delicate so they don't know crap about cars. It seems on the forums that they're divided about whether they still like their 2012s or if they're going to go for the 2013 and up.

2012 is still not bad. 2013 looks pretty fresh compared to it though. The grille matches the new accord and the interior is so futuristic.
Honestly, Honda is Reliable, Honest, Dependant and a great investment. It lasts longer than most if not all cars out there!

The sentra gets 34 combined but if the cvt has a drone then I don't now. That was touted as a premium feel but now the civic is

Chromed plastic is used by luxury brands too. Metal is heavy and unnecessary for most decorative parts.

Yes, Hondas, Toyotas etc. are assembled in US and Canada, but the parts and technology are imported. I'm not saying they're not good but overpriced.
