This guy is by far the best reviewer on Autoguide, and possibly all of TH-cam. For future videos, I really hope that Autoguide will use L/100km instead of mpg. I come here for reviews that are more tailored to Canadians, so it's shocking to see mpg used. At least include a L/100km figure somewhere!!
Honda has its eye on the hatch lineup and will be adding a new civic with a small power gain to the hot hatch assortment just hope it appeals to me cause I'm a Honda guy looking for another toy!
Lol. Yes. I agree, among MANY others. I even know people who dislike Hondas, but agree that a Civic looks better than a Scion TC. They definitely look like a girls car
Dealers tend to buy the higher trim models.. if they're base it should be more like 25k, and I don't know what part of California you're from, but location makes all the difference..
3 grand more for this? You can put 1 grand aside for great coilovers and 2 grand towards what ever else. There's a lot of hate on the 9nth gens, but I like them. To me they have a svelte look, almost in the same ballpark as the Silvia and other sleak and slender cars.
also a very select FEW dealerships offer a LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. one of the main reasons i bought mine. so anyone thinking about buying one think about that and look around. my dealer: Patty Peck Honda, located in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
only non turbo i know of... maybe the subaru BRZ... it mostly just shifts faster with paddle shift. otherwise i beat a Nissan Maxima V6. so ya. dont underestimate the new civics
Seriously the turbo can save the civic. This is a very powerful engine and I have seen tuners pull 400whp (and much more) while still maintaining what is a very reliable car. "It's turbo time!" /watch?v=3BklC1TUFS8
I would have to agree. If they had maybe 15-20 hp more then it would make the 2.4 worth while. I mean there are cars have 1.8 and 2.0 that put out similar power atleast 220 with no turbo would be nice and it should sit better as well. My opinion the coupe sits to high
Honda will probably never put all wheel drive in a civic. I would expect the price to increase close to $5000 just for the transmission upgrade. I've seen the D-series (1.6 displacement) run 400whp/350lb/ft no problems so imagine what the K20 could do. The new K24Z7 is a fail. There is no VTEC in exhaust cam, the header is integrated, the redline is 7000rpm & the intake manifold is made out of plastic or something. The K20 was miles ahead but they wanted cheaper production costs.
without a doubt.. i don't get why honda improved the k20 for the fd2 but decided not to put it back in the SI, makes no sense to me. Not to mention that the fd2 is sexy as fuck
Again, with the false info. I saw a video of this HFP Si being faster than the FRS as well. The Scions are slow, heavier, and less powerful. The FRS has one HP less than the Civic, and 20lb-ft less torque. They run the same quarter mile times as the Si. Get it right, kiddo.
da faq... wrx isnt 275.... and this looks much better than both those cars wrx is just better in everyday practicality and bit more power... and of course for more money
All of you people that keep saying that The FR-S is better. The FR-S may be a nice car on the outside, but the interior is cheap and even bland. It doesn't even have steering wheel controls. How does a $24,000 car not have steering wheel mounted controls?? The center console also looks cheap and the gauges look dated. The SI looks futuristic and has more style.
I'm sure that this is a great car, but I really think it's time for Honda to start leaning towards turbochargers. Where's the turbo motor from the RDX?!!
HFP? All that should be in the Si already (plus an added 20-40Hp). This is alot of money to throw down on a car that's feels like it's playing catch up with it competitors. It's really a good thing Honda has devoted consumers, because for the same price, I'd be looking at other cars =/
the 2.4L in the new si is a very torquey and powerful motor but, they need to definityl come factory turboed, si with all wheel drive and turbo will save the civic si
I love Honda, but they need to step their game up. I would buy the ford focus ST instead of this SI. What happened to making cars like the prelude, s2000, rsx?? Make something good and ill buy it because all my hondas have treated me very well from my old civics, integras, and my current 5th gen prelude.
Some people just dont understand cars. I bet he thinks miatas suck too, hmmm a car that has been in production 20 plus years...... These Mazada engineers must be stupid. I learned a long time arguing over cars reflects ones education/IQ. I rest my case.
not only this car is expensive, unreasonably, Dealers put Mark-Up price because they do not make a lot of those, and a dealer carries only a few cars. Honda should give up a better engine (at least 250hp)or this cannot be the best car among the others. For crying out loud, you can get a decent 2013 Mustang with this price
aren't these upgrades should be in regulae Si, not any stupid package...but is okay Honda is still making money out of this cause honda fan boys are still buying them no matter what
well jeez i guess i should of used more internet resources then ask someone on youtube. last time i do that. And just so i feel better, we are talking about the siR (canada) which comes with a b16a2. there, answred my own question
Totally, they could put the 2.4 turbo engine of the acura RDX, the civic would be back on track. Anyway, no one understands what is going on inside Honde engineers.
Civic Si used to be class leading performance but it's quickly falling behind. Cars in that segment, what is left of it, are making way more stride in power, performance and over all value and driver satisfaction. The Si formula is becoming stale and obsolete.
How is a BRZ "Ricer shit" when a Genesis is just as japanese/ricey?? If anything, the BRZ out-handles ALL the cars you just listed...maybe not in performance, but it's a lot more fun to go around corners in a BRZ. Not only that, but the BRZ has a much more unique design...Definitely not rice, you have no idea what you're talking about.
I put HFP Badges on my 2015 Si Coupe... Now my car is officially HFP!
owning an SI used to be something to be proud of
is HFP even worth it? I love the Civic because it's a great all around car.
did they removed the i-vtec dohc decal for the side skirts?
I AM IN LOVE WITH THE 18" RIMS
This guy is by far the best reviewer on Autoguide, and possibly all of TH-cam.

Eibach springs and you have HFP performance for 200 dollars
Springs on stock dampers won't do you much good. But I do agree with you that you're much better off doing your own modding.
We're planning to! There's a launch event for journalists in a few weeks. Stay tuned.
Honda hasn't even said anything about the 2013 Civic on their website- how can there be a review already?
what other 4 cylinder NON TURBO cars are faster then the Si?
Roman Pavlov none really
Just bought this car, I like it.
oh and for an additional view of the Civic SI, search "2012 Civic SI Road America Winter Autocross April 5 2014" (8 days in future of this posting)
and I will be still driving my accord 25 years later if I wanted too....
i thought the sir had the type r engine, different cam. b16a? am i wrong? youtube can be very educational..
lmao. sounded just like a honda guy in the begining. "it has more power and torque than i have...but i was only an ENTIRE SECOND behind him." lol.
any power gains?
you can also get a mustang, camaro, challenger, or lancer too. honda needs to step it up big time
Looks great, but what I cant get over is why the hell does Honda need to make a special package to bring back the real Si feel? Come on Honda!
is there a sedan version?
The HFP should add a turbo with like 250 HP. lol I like the aero kit on this one though.
Honda has its eye on the hatch lineup and will be adding a new civic with a small power gain to the hot hatch assortment just hope it appeals to me cause I'm a Honda guy looking for another toy!
OMG THAT BODY ROLL?!
No, the civic we "car enthusiast" have been asking for is the TYPE R!
Mason Vang except it starts at 40k$ and in most cases will be sold for 50k before taxes.
Lol.

This car looks so friggen' good.
same here man! december 12 for the coupe ;) im so ready
also a very select FEW dealerships offer a LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. one of the main reasons i bought mine. so anyone thinking about buying one think about that and look around. my dealer: Patty Peck Honda, located in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
damn for that price... give us better exhaust, hood scoop(functional), and more HP! I will stick with my regular 2012 civic si and tune it myself :)
I agree. I love my EK :] sure do miss my Saab though lol
only non turbo i know of... maybe the subaru BRZ... it mostly just shifts faster with paddle shift. otherwise i beat a Nissan Maxima V6. so ya. dont underestimate the new civics
24k for the si
br-z, fr-s, wrx atleast from california they are at 30k thanks to the dealer mark up
Seriously the turbo can save the civic. This is a very powerful engine and I have seen tuners pull 400whp (and much more) while still maintaining what is a very reliable car.

can you please do a review of the chevy spark
Honda will probably never put all wheel drive in a civic. I would expect the price to increase close to $5000 just for the transmission upgrade. that if the difference between the hfp and the others?
other than the lip kit and wheels, nothing
Oh and floormats
without a doubt.. i don't get why honda improved the k20 for the fd2 but decided not to put it back in the SI, makes no sense to me. Not to mention that the fd2 is sexy as fuck
it's dope, but a lightweight hatch civic would be ideal
Again, with the false info. I saw a video of this HFP Si being faster than the FRS as well. The Scions are slow, heavier, and less powerful. The FRS has one HP less than the Civic, and 20lb-ft less torque. They run the same quarter mile times as the Si. Get it right, kiddo.
da faq... wrx isnt 275.... and this looks much better than both those cars wrx is just better in everyday practicality and bit more power... and of course for more money
and this is why i bought a focus st. i smoke si hondas almost every week
Is it still running lol?
I agree with him... HFP for the same price!! damn! 3000 more...
The SI looks futuristic and has more style.
nice weather there...
I'm sure that this is a great car, but I really think it's time for Honda to start leaning towards turbochargers. Where's the turbo motor from the RDX?!!
the civic si has the highest residual value other cars in this segment carry 300 to 500 lbs which is very high
damn thats a lot of body roll at 1:20
Motor is the best thing in it
the more I look at it the more I like it?
For the same price you can buy an FRS ,I hope the 2013 si is stronger
In stock. 2012 SI is not slower than 2012 GTI.
HFP? All that should be in the Si already (plus an added 20-40Hp). This is alot of money to throw down on a car that's feels like it's playing catch up with it competitors. It's really a good thing Honda has devoted consumers, because for the same price, I'd be looking at other cars =/
Hahahaha for that extra 3k I can make the 2012 si faster
yeah no shit, we didnt get the SiR tho
Idc what yall say the civics a long lasting car
This is a 2012 for starters. The HFP is just a package from Honda. They're acting like it's a whole different car...
Gti please..
Honda needs a type r trim level vehicle for the US.
the 2.4L in the new si is a very torquey and powerful motor but, they need to definityl come factory turboed, si with all wheel drive and turbo will save the civic si
they should bring back the civic hatchback like the eg, ek and ep3. :(
I love Honda, but they need to step their game up. I would buy the ford focus ST instead of this SI. What happened to making cars like the prelude, s2000, rsx?? Make something good and ill buy it because all my hondas have treated me very well from my old civics, integras, and my current 5th gen prelude.
Not a lot of difference from the '11, they should call this the 8th gen and release the REAL 9th gen with the 2013.
could you put the navi and hfp kit on a automatic '13 civic coupe?
Yeah, you know what I'd reeealy like to see? Less of this guy acting super happy over a crappy, over priced honda - and I own a 2008 Si.
The hfp pkg....should be standard from the start. At the same price
that's 30k in Canada.
my parents bought a 2009 accord (the basic) for about $25k early 2010
Maybe it's just personal preference? You know people have different taste right?
The 2012 gained .4 liters of displacement and 4 horsepower while losing 1300rpm...
26k for a SI....? Pocket Rocket?....might as well buy the 6 cyl accord coupe
Some people just dont understand cars. I bet he thinks miatas suck too, hmmm a car that has been in production 20 plus years...... These Mazada engineers must be stupid. I learned a long time arguing over cars reflects ones education/IQ. I rest my case.
Lol the four door is where its at
Sadly, they've discontinued that engine. It was amazing, but it had terrible fuel economy.
Honda dropped the ball as soon as they released the RSX. The S2000 was forgivable. The NSX should've died 5 years earlier.
really?? i thought that was the insight
the HFP is just body kit, pretty much. doesnt mean its more sporty...
it looks nice
not only this car is expensive, unreasonably, Dealers put Mark-Up price because they do not make a lot of those, and a dealer carries only a few cars. Honda should give up a better engine (at least 250hp)or this cannot be the best car among the others. For crying out loud, you can get a decent 2013 Mustang with this price
it has eco i-vtec......not like the 8th gen i-vtec with three cam lobes on intake and exhaust side......so it sucks
at this price why not get a BRZ? RWD is just a lot better.
26 000$ ?! o.O ? are they gone completly mad?%
99 SiR was the shit!
aren't these upgrades should be in regulae Si, not any stupid package...but is okay Honda is still making money out of this cause honda fan boys are still buying them no matter what
Sorry, for $26K I'd be looking for the Accord V6.
well jeez i guess i should of used more internet resources then ask someone on youtube. last time i do that. And just so i feel better, we are talking about the siR (canada) which comes with a b16a2. there, answred my own question
The should bring back the rsx
Totally, they could put the 2.4 turbo engine of the acura RDX, the civic would be back on track. Anyway, no one understands what is going on inside Honde engineers.
Since 2002, Honda/Acura has been about pay more, get less.
Why did u even make this vod lol 500 cars
Yeah.. it's sad that their most powerful car is the V6 Accord Coupe..
Civic Si used to be class leading performance but it's quickly falling behind. Cars in that segment, what is left of it, are making way more stride in power, performance and over all value and driver satisfaction. The Si formula is becoming stale and obsolete.
I'll have a Genesis Coupe.. 73 extra hp, RWD, looks better, and I'll spend the extra $1k on a good tuneup :P
I'd love to see this hfp up against the the 2015 wrx
WRX would win easily because they aren't in the same class, WRX AWD + 60-70 HP
yeah canada only :-/
I hate how honda engineers turned soft. It seems they dont want to produce more hp so they give up and put a fucking hybrid engine.
Meh, that car has been off the shopping list for a long time now
I'm HONDA fan.HONDA has so good engine. The name is VTEC. It's Japanese technology and HONDA lacing technology.
I think,,,
