Damian, really appreciate that you continue to do the homework to get the right equipment to make the system Work properly! 1.4” of travel is important and you are pursuing the right course of action. Thanks from across the pond!
Mark, we designed the system to work with the maximum travel available from a 3/4” cylinder. Couldn’t work out why it wasn’t working quite as planned. Took a while for the penny to drop that the cylinder wasn’t at the designed travel. Not a big issue as spotted it and corrected it. Working with shorter strokes needs to brackets redesigning for full pedal movement. McLeod kept saying don’t worry you will be OK with a 3/4” cylinder and 10cc so needed to ensure it was the 1.4” stroke version. Making the pedal box in such a way that you can remove the cylinder in situ just in case. thanks for your kind words of support, regards Damian
@Punisher9419, Wilwood offer several very similar 3/4” cylinders with quite different strokes. I think the problem it’s not easy for the retailers to know which one they are selling. The seller I purchased from amended their listing for the product but it is still wrong. The problem is coming 50% from Wilwood not clearly identifying the cylinder stroke (no markings) and 50% the retailers not checking and listing the cylinder strokes correctly. The advice is to double the cylinder stroke when it arrives and return if not correct. Thanks for the comment and support, regards Damian
You should return it, as it was not as advertised. Your modification is an afterthought that is their fault for selling incorrectly spec’s parts. Besides, from a DIY point of view, it’s the re-work that is SO FRUSTRATING! They should pay us double our money when they send the wrong part. Especially after all the engineering you’ve done to choose the correct components, AND the assurances that you have received from your parts suppliers/manufacturers.
Tom, good advice and yes it is very frustrating. Especially, when I purchased from someone I though knew what they where selling. Lesson learnt never take anything at face valve which make me a bit nervous about the other components. Going to get there but might be a few more of these problems along the way. Thanks for your support, regards Damian
