I made the mistake of reading through the comments, when it was around 155 comments, and I'm hoping you don't let the actions of some discourage you. So many folks, like me, appreciate the two of you so much, and we truly enjoy these videos. Please know how much joy you bring to us folks out here. Thank you!
I have not thought about O’Henry Bars in eons! So I had to look them. The candy bars have peanuts and caramel in addition to a chocolate covering. However. That would not deter me from making this recipe! They really look yummy! So appreciate you both and so enjoy your channel! ❤️🙏🏻
Dan, we are so honored that you shared the recipe with us and that we were able to use your mother-in-law's recipe in our video. We hope we did her justice and that she would have been happy with it. Thank you (and Jill) for sharing the recipe.
I think the reason why people get upset about corn syrup as they seem to think it’s high fructose, corn syrup. If you use Caro they do not use high fructose corn syrup. People just hear corn syrup and think it’s the same thing as high fructose, corn syrup, which it is not.
Tom, you might have to change that series to Weekend Series. Two a week Saturday and Sunday. You are going to get hundreds my friend! We love this sharing idea. Let’s Go!

I never understand why people criticize cooks on TH-cam. If you don't like the way they cook, just scroll on. No need to be critical. Don't like it? Don't make it. Simple as that. LOL
I know right?!! It's like... Why watch and comment! If you don't like what you see or how they explain the recipes then they don't have to watch!!! Whatever happened to if you don't have anything nice to say... Don't say anything at all!!
Thank you Tom and Melissa for all your awesome recipes! Tom, you explain things so well! (The school teacher in you!) Melissa, you do such a good job filming, I forget there's even a camera being used. I feel like I'm standing in your kitchen with you!
These look more like a no-bake cookie and look delicious. Original Oh Henry Bars are much different using these ingredients: Crunchy Peanuts, Chewy Fudge , Creamy Caramel covered in a chocolate coating
Hi Tom and Melissa. Oh Henry candy bars are wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I have made Oh Henry bars many times over my 52 years of marriage. I'm from Minnesota also. When our son was in the service and stationed in Bagad, I would send him a box from home once a month. I always included Oh Henry candy bars in his box from home. They were his favorite. I hope people will give these bars a try as they are good. I'm looking forward to all your Sunday recipes.
I think when I was a little girl they made these in the cafeteria at school. I was in elementary school and I loved when they had these cut into big squares in a little white dish. They look and sound like it so I'm going to make them and see. If these are those then I will be a very happy girl once again. Thanks so much. Love watching your videos. You both are so nice.
My grandma was born @ raised in Iowa and would make these while I was growing up, and later on I would make them as well for my family, haven't made them for many years ,thank you for the reminder, I will probably make some for Easter now thanks to y'all, peace and God Bless Always ❤
Quick and easy for when one wants a sweet snack on the fly. Thanks to Dan, and Jill for sharing the recipe and thank you and Melissa for bringing to us.
When I was growing up 1950's and 1960's Baby Ruth and OH Henry were my favorite candy bars. Oh Henry candy bars were a cheaper version of Baby Ruth's. I know you follow the recipes you get to the tee, but I would add chopped peanuts in with the oatmeal and maybe on the top. Who am I kidding. I would add the peanuts on the top as well. Just discovered your show. I enjoy it. Keep up the good job.
If you know you’re gonna like it, then definitely add it on! We’re all about making a recipe to suit your personaltaste buds. We really appreciate that you have found our channel and that you were joining us at the table. Hope you’re having a great day.
Also chopped peanuts sprinkled on top would make it more like Thoth Henry candy bar. I am anxious to try this recipe. I love Tom and Melissa. The presentation are made so people friendly. Keep up the great job guys.
I remember having Oh Henry! bars in the ‘50’s. One of things I loved were the peanuts you chewed. I’m going to top these with peanuts for some crunch! Thanks to the folks who sent the recipe and to you for sharing it.
That's so interesting that these are considered funeral food. It's funny how certain recipes evolve into things like that. We have found our corn pudding to be one of those items requested for funeral meals at our church. Thank you so much for watching our channel. It's great having you at the table with us.
We made these bars often, and my children grew up with these as a "sometimes" treat! After my mother died, my dad, who only did recipes on cards, not recipe books, got the directions from a cousin who also made these, and wrote it on a card, since the recipe we used was in homemakers' cookbook. He made these for his dartball club, and took them to a potluck at church, proud as a peacock becasue he made them himself! We always used semi-sweet chocolate chipes, and Jif, of course!!
What a sweet story about your dad! At one time, I had a small recipe box with recipes written on index cards! So, I can easily imagine him with his cards! Thank you for sharing your story with us.
It’s so funny I came upon this video because recently I was looking for an old cookbook that my mom wrote in with a recipe for Ohenry bars, many many decades ago. Unfortunately I didn’t find her cookbook amongst the other ones that she left behind. But this is the exact recipe. Except, I feel like it was a no bake recipe. Not sure. So now I can make these again and enjoy them like I did when we were kids. Thanks for sharing.
I can hardly wait to make these Oh Henry Bars. I used to eat the O’Henry candy bar many years ago. Thanks to your followers for sending you the recipe and thanks to you for making them.
Melissa, I am married also for 29 years now but I must say I have a little crush on your husband!😂 He has such a soothing kind voice and I enjoy watching your videos. He seems like such a sweet husband! And he cooks!😂
I can’t imagine anybody not liking white corn syrup. I love it. I like to mix it with peanut butter on toast. I’ve also been known to put it on cornbread. I can pour it right out of the jar and eat it. I’m looking forward to seeing this recipe finished I may want to try it myself. Thank you.
My Granddads name was Henry. My Granny told me that one day he said some to her that was so funny she just cackled and said "Oh Henry" A couple of years later he got very sick and was in the hospital dying (sadly a Veteran who drank himself to death after the war) My Grandmother got someone to take her to see him 3 times a week. Every time she saw him she would bring him an Oh Henry bar until the day he died. He would always laugh at it. She made sure to get herself one every month until she died in memory of him. She would have loved this recipe. Thank you for the memories.
This is going to be so exciting. Seeing your subscribers gems as well. I’m sending one in from my ex mother in law. She’s passed, but it’s a Kentucky recipe. I love all the ideas my grandkids can taste test. 😊. Love your shirt Tom. Hey Melissa. 🙋🏻♀️
Looks really yummy. Thanks to Dan & Jill & mama of course for sending it, & to y'all for selecting it to share with us! I've always said the key to getting the first one or in one piece is to cut the pieces big enough! lol
Thanks for sharing with us Tom and Melissa and the folks who sent in this recipe. Very easy to make and soooo very good to eat. Stay safe and have fun. Fred.
Oh Henry! was an American candy bar containing peanuts, caramel, and fudge coated in chocolate,[1] sold in the US until 2019. [2] A slightly different version of it is still manufactured and sold in Canada.[3] This version is sold in the US by Hershey, under the name Rally Bars.[4] Oh Henry!
We can still buy the Oh Henry candy bar in the U.S.A., it still comes in that yellowish gold wrapper with the brown writing😊. But what they made was not the Oh Henry I remember 🤷🏽♀️
This idea is wonderful. We love watching your channel. You are the first to invite your audience to be part of your channel. I copy the receipts and note who gave you the receipt. Now my nook will have receipts from many places. You are creating a family for " Come Sit At My Table"🤗😘
What if you and Melissa did that and sold the book book. It truly would be a nice collection and people would buy to see their treasured receipt printed. Just a thought. Live to you both.
We appreciate all these nice comments. Thanks so much for watching our channel. We are working on a cookbook right now, but you've given us lots of ideas for down the road!
I live in Missouri. We have a little country store in a town named Fallon that sells Oh Henry candy bars along with lots of other really old candy bars and lots of artisan root beers.
Great shirt Tom! I never ate an Oh Henry candy bar either as I wasn’t fond of nuts back then as a kid but I sure remember them. This recipe looks like a fine rendition of the nostalgic candy, and you and Melissa seemed to really enjoy it so I may have to make it. My husband loves chocolate and peanut butter so it’s definitely worth trying. Thanks so much and looking forward to Sunday subscribers series, yippee! You two are the best, God bless!!
Hi guys, check the actual KARO corn syrup. It does not have Fructose. Off brand Corn Syrup has Fructose. You can bet the people that give you words about KARO drink soda drinks like crazy. You guys are great, don’t worry about people that do not have only kind words. They can have their own show when they learn their ingredients. Thank you for all of your fun recipes.
They look delicious!! I love finding old recipes. Yes you can ,but they are hard to find. Look in candy store s that carries the old fashioned candy. The layer with the oat did look like the center of the candy bar.😊😊😊
Tom and Melissa, I found Oh Henry bars at Walmart. I love watching you guys. I have tried and saved many of your recipes. Thank you Melissa for including each recipie for us. God bless You and your family. 😂
Yes, love that they provide the recipe! I go right past the channels that don't. There are too many good channels like this one to bother with the ones not as considerate of their audience.
Thank you so much, Tom and Melissa. When I’m feeling I need a little pick me up from a friend, I watch you on TH-cam. Your videos are wonderful! I had to try the “Oh Henry Bars” today. Oh my goodness they are good! Will definitely be something we have for a treat. I thought I’d try it because I have the ingredients I have in my pantry. Thank you again so much from Palmview, Texas USA!
I think if you look hard, you might be able to find some in the states, but they're not readily available. We really do appreciate that you are at the table with us.
Hedgehog Slice Makes 24 Ingredients: Slice: 250g unsalted butter 1 can (395g) sweetened condensed milk 200g dark or milk chocolate 500g plain sweet biscuits (Marie, Milk Arrowroot or Digestives recommended) 30g shredded or desiccated coconut Topping: 200-250g dark or milk chocolate 1 tablespoon cooking oil or vegetable oil or 10g copha, butter or coconut oil Method: Grease and line a 16cm x 26cm slice pan. Add the butter, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate into a medium saucepan and place over low heat until the butter and chocolate have completely melted, stirring occasionally, making sure it doesn’t burn. Crush your biscuits, make sure you have some large and some small pieces. Add the biscuits to a large bowl with the coconut, and stir to combine. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the biscuits and coconut, and mix together. Add the mixture to your slice pan and place in the refrigerator while you do the next step. Melt your chocolate with your oil and melt in the microwave. Take out your hedgehog from the refrigerator and pour your melted chocolate over, use a spoon to help it spread. Place back in the refrigerator and let it all set completely. Cut up and ENJOY!
Can not wait to make. Those pork chop recipe was amazing. Yum. An the lemon bread every one says best ever ate. You both are great. Thank you for taking time to share with us an making it so easy to understand. You go slow an you don't rush an explain. I have some memory an comphrending issues an you make it so easy for me. Also so easy for me to teach my grandkids to cook an bake. I can put you on tablet. An pause after each ingredient an they follow along. Thank you. Helps me to help them....😊
There definitely are whole peanuts in the original O! Henry candy bars. They still sell them in limited amounts here in Canada. They used to be everywhere, but now you have to really look. Or be lucky enough to happen across them! Usually you can find them as mini bars at Halloween-if someone else hasn’t snapped them all up first!
Enjoyed this recipe so much! Remember the Oh Henry! candy bars from my childhood in the 1960s. The little neighborhood grocery store in the next block North of my home always had them in a rack on their checkout counter. In those days they were a rather thin, long candy bar that was layer of caramel covered with fudge along with peanuts coated entirely with milk chocolate. My understanding is that this candy bar was discontinued in 2019. I am told that the Rally bar sold by Hershey is very similar, but haven't tried one.
That does look good. Thanks for making it for us to see and thank you to the couple that shared their recipe. This will be a great series for sure. Have a Blessed day.
This recipe looks so delicious. I love every recipe that you guys have made since you started this channel. I have wrote every recipe that you guys have made. I really love watching all your video's.
That's true! You can always tell when he is enjoying his food. He is very expressive. Thank you so much for watching our channel. It's great to have you at the table with us.
Thank you Tom and Melissa I am 81 and love watching you videos.I have never made these bar.I will be making them for my husband.I have heard of the old Henry candy bar,but can't remember them.
You sound just like me. I definitely remember them, and I thought I knew what they were, but I now think I'm mistaken after reading people's description of them. What I do know for sure is that these bars are delicious! And they are very easy to put together, too, and that is always a plus!
I’ll be making these for sure. By the way last night I made your meatloaf with the pepper and onion relish. Absolutely delicious. Made a meatloaf sandwich today for lunch. Thanks so much.
My mom always added 2 Tbs of Peanut butter to the oatmeal mix stating that you could not have too much peanut butter. Her recipe also had the baking dish lightly greased so the oatmeal base did not stick.
Tom & Melissa - I bet this is a great recipe. Oh Henry Bars are great… They usually have them at Easter time, Halloween time & Christmas season as well in the stores in my area. I think you can order the candy bars in line anytime as well. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us. 👏👏👏💕🌻

That’s good information to know!
Also if you look at the bottle Tom had it said on the top right corner 0 cornfrutoce.
Precisely
And this new corn syrup is not as sweet as the older deadly one. lol
O'Henry bars have caramel and peanuts topped with chocolate.
Tom, you might have to change that series to Weekend Series. Two a week Saturday and Sunday. You are going to get hundreds my friend! We love this sharing idea.

Thanks for all your recipes and your time. May God bless you keep you both❤🎉

I love subscriber Sunday ! What a wonderful and novel idea!
Absolutely
Thank you! We hope you enjoy every recipe!
I do not know when I changed, but when I was very young, I LOVED Karo Syrup on my pancakes!
Uh oh, I love all the ingredients, and, more importantly , I HAVE all the ingredients. 😁 ty!! 👋 from Connecticut.
I will have to use extra crunchy peanut butter for my tribe here.
Same here! Jif, too. ❤
Fix some for me 😊
Also chopped peanuts sprinkled on top would make it more like Thoth Henry candy bar. I am anxious to try this recipe. I love Tom and Melissa. The presentation are made so people friendly. Keep up the great job guys.
It looks like flapjack and I love flapjack I will
Love oh Henry bars
Tha.k you ❤ xx
I remember having Oh Henry! bars in the ‘50’s. One of things I loved were the peanuts you chewed. I’m going to top these with peanuts for some crunch! Thanks to the folks who sent the recipe and to you for sharing it.
Yes, definitely add peanuts.
Oh Henry bars are very popular with us Canadians. They have peanuts and caramel in them😊
You cook exactly the way I do. You make sure every spoon, spatula and bowl is scraped clean. 👍
We have to be careful not to be wasteful with food prices as high as they are now.
Looks absolutely delicious thanks Tom and Melissa for sharing
O Henry bars are always at funeral meals in Mn and happen to be my husband's favorite. Great idea for Sundays and look forward to it.
That's so interesting that these are considered funeral food. It's funny how certain recipes evolve into things like that. We have found our corn pudding to be one of those items requested for funeral meals at our church. Thank you so much for watching our channel. It's great having you at the table with us.

Awesome!!! I’ll give this recipe a try…1/2 of the O’Henry bar, I may add chopped peanuts on top of the half of the pan. ThankU
Thank you both for sharing. I have made so many of your recipes and I love them all❤
Have you ever thought about making a cookbook? I love to purchase one. I enjoy watching you
You are going to get enough recipes to do this on the weekends for the next 10 years LOL!!! I can't wait to try this one! My husband will LOVE it!
An OH Henry bars are a log of carmelfudge rolled in nuts and covered in chocolate. We still have them in Canada. Delicious!
Hey Melissa!! Yes they still make O Henry bars!! They look like chocolate logs!!! With a nougat in the middle and peanuts! So good
That looks so good. I think that would go good with a tall glass of cold milk.🥛
Yes it would! Thank you so much for watching our channel.
I can hardly wait to make these Oh Henry Bars. I used to eat the O’Henry candy bar many years ago. Thanks to your followers for sending you the recipe and thanks to you for making them.
Thanks a lot! They are addictive! I ate half the pan myself over a days time 😂.
I think that if you used chunky peanut butter it would be closer to an Oh Henry bar. The finished product looks delicious!!!
This recipe looks great and the subscriber Sunday series is a wonderful idea. Thank you and God Bless you both.
Melissa, I am married also for 29 years now but I must say I have a little crush on your husband!😂 He has such a soothing kind voice and I enjoy watching your videos. He seems like such a sweet husband! And he cooks!😂
Wonder what the complaint was about corn syrup? That individual must not like pecan pie - a Southern staple!
For sure. If we didn't eat all the things that are bad for us, what would be left to eat.
Brocoli and Brussel sprouts. Maybe Tom can show us how to make them taste good.
I can’t imagine anybody not liking white corn syrup. I love it. I like to mix it with peanut butter on toast. I’ve also been known to put it on cornbread. I can pour it right out of the jar and eat it. I’m looking forward to seeing this recipe finished I may want to try it myself. Thank you.
We thought they were so good. We hope you make and enjoy them soon! Thank you so much for joining us at the table.

Looks really yummy. Thanks to Dan & Jill & mama of course for sending it, & to y'all for selecting it to share with us!
I've always said the key to getting the first one or in one piece is to cut the pieces big enough! lol
Sounds like an excellent excuse, I mean reason, to cut a big piece! 😊
I used to eat Oh Henry Candybars daily in the late 70's-80's. My favorite.
I am going to try this, thanks to you and the dear person that sent it to you. How awesome.
I made this recipe today and they are delicious! I found that the cooking time needed to be longer though. I baked at 350 for 18 minutes.
Thanks for sharing with us Tom and Melissa and the folks who sent in this recipe. Very easy to make and soooo very good to eat. Stay safe and have fun. Fred.

We appreciate all these nice comments. Thanks so much for watching our channel. We are working on a cookbook right now, but you've given us lots of ideas for down the road!
Yummy to my tummy 😋 👏 Thank you both, again! I'm going to try this recipe 💫💫💚
Hope you enjoy it like we did. It’s so good.
Oh Henry bars are owned now by Hershey’s and are available on Amazon.
Love this series. Going to be fun. Thanks.
I think I'd these were cut into "bar" sizes and dunked into milk chocolate individually it would be so much like the original candy bar!
I made these today and they are awesome! Thank you
I live in Missouri. We have a little country store in a town named Fallon that sells Oh Henry candy bars along with lots of other really old candy bars and lots of artisan root beers.
Really enjoyed your video! I made these today everyone loved them! Thank you ❤
There is an online store called The Vermont Country Store, and you can get O’Henry bars through them, along with other old time favorites.
Vermonter here! Or you can be lucky enough to just walk into the Vermont Country Store and get some. They have a lot of cool things in there.
I would have the recipe laminated to preserve it. Sounds delicious.
I made these today. I added a bit of peanut butter to the bottom mixture and I added roughly chopped peanuts to the topping. Yummy!!
I think a good addition to the recipe would be Cocoa Krispies to give it a little crunch.
Just made these and they are so very good!
I will have to make these and give some to my daughters. Anything with oatmeal she says has to be healthy so it will be breakfast.🙂🙂
Great shirt Tom! I never ate an Oh Henry candy bar either as I wasn’t fond of nuts back then as a kid but I sure remember them. Thank you so much for the encouragement. It's great having you watching, and we do appreciate the info about the KARO syrup.
Tom love your recipes and you tell us step by step Thank you! Keep up the great videos and thank you Melissa as well 👍❤️
They are going to be good y’all!
Walmart does sell them - they’re imported from Canada.
❤looking forward to the upcoming fans sending in Sunday recipes how fun ❤
Thank you Tom & Melissa for sharing an old recipe with us. I can’t wait to make these.

Hedgehog Slice
Makes 24
Ingredients:
Slice:
250g unsalted butter
1 can (395g) sweetened condensed milk
200g dark or milk chocolate
500g plain sweet biscuits (Marie, Milk Arrowroot or Digestives recommended)
30g shredded or desiccated coconut
Topping:
200-250g dark or milk chocolate
1 tablespoon cooking oil or vegetable oil or 10g copha, butter or coconut oil
Method:
Grease and line a 16cm x 26cm slice pan.

Oh my gosh, I'm drooling.
I am 75 years old and I do remember Oh Henry bars. They had peanuts in them as far as I know.
Thank you Tom & Melissa what a Joy to share others recipes the bars look so good Blessings 💛💚Bodi
Love this! Somehow I remember there being whole peanuts in oh Henry bars.
I just did your research, and oh Henry was an American candy bar made until 2019. I will definitely need to try this recipe.!
I love that recipe. That has created many memories and tasty treats 🎉❤🍫
I could see how those could be addictive! Sounds wonderful :-)
Love this new idea for Subscriber Sunday series. Those old family recipes are the best. These kind of remind me of scotcharoos. Looks yummy!
THANK YOU for this fun subscribers recipe series both you and Melissa are doing!!
Melissa, I agree, this isn’t what I remember the candy bars being like. It was my Mom’s favorite way back in the day.
Thank you Tom and Melissa yall rock.
Thank you so much for the nice comment! We are delighted to have you joining us at the table.

I can find them in NC. One of my favorite candy bars. Thank you Tom and Melissa for choosing this recipe today. Yummy ❤
Tom it’s been a pleasure sitting at your table. New sub🌹
Tom & Melissa - I bet this is a great recipe. Oh Henry Bars are great… They usually have them at Easter time, Halloween time & Christmas season as well in the stores in my area. I think you can order the candy bars in line anytime as well. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us. 👏👏👏💕🌻
