- Mounds Candy Bar Cake
1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate mix
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
24 large marshmallows
14 ounce bag sweetened flake coconut
1 stick butter
12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat your oven following the directions on the box.
Mix the cake as directed on box. (if you want a more homemade like cake, substitute milk in place of the water, melted butter in place of the oil, and add one extra egg.) Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9” x 13” cake pan. Bake according to the directions on the cake box.
Once the cake has cooled completely, in a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the milk, sugar, marshmallows, and coconut stirring constantly. Immediately pour over the cake and spread to cover the cake. Allow to cool for approximately 10 minutes.
Place the chocolate chips and one stick of butter in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in 30 seconds increments, stirring after each, until the chips and butter are melted. This should take approximately 1 minute to 1 minute 15 seconds. Immediately spread over the coconut-marshmallow layer of the cake. Allow to cool so that the chocolate will set up.

I wanted to tell you guys; I don’t think I enjoyed anything this Christmas season as much as watching your 12 days of Christmas series. I watched eagerly every day for the new vid to drop, and then was so pleased to see bonus features!! Thanks so much for sharing with us.
I've never done "Christmas" sweets, but I made a few of those and had a blast!
I was the same way! I looked forward every day for the new videos!
Nothing he makes is heathly...he looks like he needs to start eating more healthy or he is going to implode
Woo Hoo! Another cake for my weekly dessert donation. Thank you.
Ok now, you have spilled the beans. Now we need to see how you make soap.
Yes please 😊
I'm willing to bet that you were alot of kid's favorite teacher 😊
Soap making? That sounds really interesting!
I wish you would give some demonstrations on the making of soaps. They would be great gifts.
I am a relatively new subscriber and, I must say, I've had more fun watching your recipes and trying them out. You two folks are the sweetest couple ever. Think I will put toasted-in-butter slivered almonds over the top of the chocolate, as they go so well with coconut. Yum...
With almonds on top it becomes an almond joy cake. Yumm
I used to co-own a Deli/smoke house so my boys had to learn how to cook and do laundry and housework, yard work, yada, yada, yada,....my oldest son began cooking when he was a freshman in high school....he is now an AWESOME cook. My youngest has a Meat Market and specials in sausage, jerky, etc......I am so proud of them!
You really need to do a soap making video! I would love it!
Oooh! I would love to see you share a soap making recipe! 😊
My great aunt (we called her Nana) was a career woman and not much of a cook. When she did make something and someone asked her if it was made from scratch, she'd say, "I sure did, I scratched here and here and there!" She'd scratch her head and face. 😂 She was a hoot! I never feel bad about using a box mix. Sometimes it's just what you gotta do!
This sounds so delicious. I love Mounds. The tips to modify the cake mix are great.❤
Do a video on soap making! That would be very interesting. Love you guys so much.
Just for the record, many bakeries use box cake mix. But, anyway, I really love mounds pie!!
Tom and Melissa, First of all, let me say that I LOVE your channel! I usually stop what I'm doing and watch your video as soon as I see a new one come up. Then, let me offer you a tip that I learned in cake decorating class almost 40 years ago: If you bake your cake at 25 degrees less and for about five minutes longer than it says on the package, it will accomplish the same thing that the cake strips do. Your cake will be super-moist and the top will be nice and level. And last of all, we would love to see some soap making tutorials. What say ye? Thanks for all of your hard work and may the Lord bless you in 2024--Suzie
I'm going to use this tip next time I
Great tip
oh yes I would love to see some soap making tutorials!
I would definitely have no will power with this cake. I will have to make it for next church event so I have limited access. LOL
OH TOM PLEASE SHOW US HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE SOAP! I LOVE WATCHING YOU AND MELISSA COOK ALL OF THOSE DELICIOUS RECIPES! But I need to learn to make my own goat milk soap. I have eczema and it's very frustrating trying to find a good one. Thanks for all you both do and share with us! I send you both much LOVE AND APPRECIATION! HAVE A VERY HAPPY AND HEALTHY 2024! GOD BLESS YOU BOTH! ❤️
I need to learn too! After 45 years of using 1 brand of soap, the manufacturer has discontinued! I have not found ANYTHING that does not break out my allergic-to-everything-skin!! Ty!
My daughter has skin issues and she uses a Greek olive oil soap. I found it by googling it and ordered it from Greece. It wasn’t very expensive and she swears by it!
@@cynthiafisher9907you can't go wrong with olive oil. I put olive oil in my bath and it makes my skin feel wonderful.
Mr Tom Please give Us The Recipe Of Soap? Just Say It & Trust and Believe I am listening 🎧 Thank Ya'll So Much For Sharing
I make a wonderful leek and potato soup. I can make any soup at all. Brown a little bacon in the skillet. Add a little flour add a little broth but it thicken and add all your ingredients.
I must go back on my diet. But first, I will be making this. 😅
I love mounds , keep the recipes coming, I love your recipes, they are easy, simple . They are not intimidating.
I was the favorite grandchild as you were. My Grandmother made sure a Mounds Cake was there every time I came to her house. It was my favorite!
Please please show us how to make your soap
Love watching y’all
I made more thann one of your recipes for Christmas and they were a big hit. Now a mounds cake that i will have to try...maybe Valentines Day. Thanks for your recipes. ❤
Looks good I noticed that you changed 😂
There is no marshmallows in a Mounds bar, but that cake looked good. 👍
Looks amazing! I love to listen to you guys talk and tell your stories. Very interesting couple ❤
I use dark chocolate chips since that's one of the 2 differences between Mounds and Almond Joy. That and the almonds. 😂
Wonder if you could use marshmallow cream instead of the whole marshmallows?
@@susanmoore369 worth a try 👍
Add some almonds on top and then it would be like an Almond Joy!!!
You need to do a video on soap making
KURANDA !
You went to the Daintree !
Stunning part of the world
MMMMM, this sounds so good. Thank you for your tips on using cake mix. I am a scratch baker, never use cake mix. I will have to make this and try your tips for a cake mix. I agree with you, it is important to learn to cook. I helped my mother cook and even make cakes, so I learned to cook. I know a 73 year old lady, than can not cook. She always would depend on her husband to cook, now divorced, she can not even boil water. She used to buy Bob Evans mashed potatoes. I used to tell her buy potatoes, peel them, cook them till tender, and add butter, salt pepper and milk if desired. She could not even do that. She even bought premade salads. I am so thankful that my mother taught me how to cook. My nephews both can cook very good. I never buy premade foods. I told her about all the chemicals she is eating and when you make your own food, you know what is in it. I can not wait to try this recipe. I enjoy watching you so much.
The yellow of those eggs is so much deeper that store bought! What a blessing to have those eggs. Love this recipe.
If you buy organic they are usually a deeper yellow
Mounds! My very favorite candy bar. Can’t wait to give this a try. Thank you.
Duncan Hines cake mix- only brand I use. 👍.Will make for hubs, family. Thanks
I actually like a box cake mix. I make some homemade but I don’t think they’re much better if any better. I do however add 1/4 tsp of salt and in most chocolate cakes I add 1/4 tsp ground red pepper. I love it.. I do love mounds bars so this is a must try.. 😋. Have a happy new year. 🎆 ❤
I am so happy I discovered your channel. Your recipes are not only delicious, they are simple!! Love how you describe each step. I love that you are not bougie - just simply a great cook willing to share your expertise. I am making this cake this week, hopefully. :-) Happy New Year!!
❤ Tom and Melissa, thank you for this wonderful recipe! I wanted to give you a cake hack that my Mother-in-law told me about around 35yrs ago. After you make up your cake mix, just before you pour it in the pan....add in one box of INSTANT Pudding mix and stir it in. Then bake as usual but don't over bake. Your cake will be extra moist and rich! Use a small box of any INSTANT Pudding mix to match your cake...chocolate for chocolate cake, etc. Try this and let me know...I bet you will love the cake like this.
I'm from England, so just wondering what you mean or what is pudding mix, please? What is it's texture? There should be something in England, just interested how it works. Thank you
This is a great recipe and I love your boxed mix to homemade flavor suggestions!
I always breathe a sigh of deep satisfaction watching you thoroughly scrape the bowl! I have tried a few of your recipes and they all turn out great. Some are so good I have made them on repeat. The written recipe you provide is very appreciated. I have a folder of them now. Wishing you both the best in the new year.
My absolute favorite part of your channel is printing the recipe for us! Thank you!
I agree with you two about teaching your children to be independent, and I most certainly agree it is NOT the teachers job to teach them manners! You two are wonderful!
Thank you so much for watching our channel. We appreciate your nice words. Have a great day!
"'Children are a map of their parents,' regardless of age."
First half I heard in a movie, quoted by an Indian mother. Second half I added because far too often, people are too quick to only point at today's parents. They choose to forget that today's parents were yesterday's children. If their parents didn't raise them right and teach them by example how to parent...well...what do you expect?
@@katie7748 I have seen 3 year olds with perfect manners, to say, "Nice to meet you," and "please" and "thank you" and "May I" ... and table manners to put a napkin on the lap and ask to be excused... It can be done.
G'day from Australia 🇦🇺 Mr & Mrs 137k Subs !!!
WOW 😮💚
Looks amazing. The marshmallows with the coconut. Wow! Trust y’all had a fabulous last few days. Nice to see y’all do soon.
I love mounds bars, truly my favorite candy bar. I'm afraid I would eat the topping by it self and serve the hubby the plain no frosted cake. LoL 😂😂
Thanks for sharing
Came for the food and stayed for the commentaries‼️ love it love it love it ….thank you I luv it here💪🏽💪🏽
Am on holiday with no access to baking gear. Darn and it looks soooooo good. I will really enjoy it when I get home. Thanks Tom and Melissa 😊😊❤❤
This looks good. I think it would be good to slice cake in half long ways and make layers. Love your channel.
Both my kid's and all three of our grandkids love to cook and I let them cook things by their selves and they are really good cooks the youngest grandson is eleven years old
No wonder u give such good cooking recipes you were a teacher and a very good one. I can see that through your videos.
OK, I'm sitting at your table - story time. When my older son was in his early teens I started to teach him to make simple meals. We were a military family and we each bowled one night a week, so it was son's job to cook on those nights. His main dish was Spam, Mac & Cheese and peas. He entered the military at 17 and later fought in Desert Storm. He found his own home when he returned and his main meal was Spam Chowder. About 2 weeks ago (he is now 54, 3 adult kids, 2 grandkids. So he decided to make Spam Chowder for he and my DIL. Went for a can of evaporated milk and grabbed sweetened condensed and made it out of that. DIL calls me laughing hysterically - and I joined in but was wrinkling my nose thinking how horrible that had to taste. She has now hidden her stash of sweetened condensed milk.
Ha ha! I have a similar type story of my husband accidentally using powdered sugar instead of flour when he was making a mix in a zip lock bag to shake the fish in that he was cooking for supper!!!!😂
@@sharcrum OMG - that had to be bad.
@@janiefox3458 well the reason he didn't see that it was powdered sugar is that I emptied the powdered sugar into a clear canister jar with a lock down lid that I had bought and I put a piece of duct tape on it to label it but he just looked at the jar with white powder and didn't look at the label I had put on it but I did catch it as I walked by and saw the canister he had gotten down and knew that he was frying fish and not making icing or something!!!!! It was hilarious. He was mad in a way because he had done some of the fish but it was still salvageable because he had only done a piece or two!!!!
@@sharcrumThank goodness he hadn't finished the whole batch. That is really funny
I only found your AWESOME videos in the past week. I absolutely LOVE your recipes but also the tips and advice. I have learned so much and I was taught baking and cooking from my beloved mother, and she knew how to bake and cook.
Thank you so much for your videos!❤
I luv u gave her the first bite sooo sweet
Tom, to stop the hump in the middle, lower your oven temperature just a little.
If fan forced 10c or 5c.
It works !
I absolutely looove loooove y’all videos and I forget a lot of times while doin a recipe 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ so u are not alone I have to TRIPLE check lol
Please make a soap making video ❤
Hey Tom and Melissa thank you so much,. I enjoy these so much. From WV .
All I could think about watching this was how good a layer of almonds under the chocolate would be. Thank you for showing use simple foods that look like they are a lot of work
As a former longtime middle school math teacher I can so relate to your comments. I discovered you with your 12 days of Christmas treats and have been enjoying your videos since.
You are for sure a Teacher ! Instructions are so clear and you don’t rush them . Thank you 🙏🏼
I love your red sweatshirt! And the recipe. I love mounds
LOVE MOUNDS .. going to TRY to do it with keto ingredients ... ad lib.
I’m dying to try this Mounds cake, Tom and Melissa, this is my favorite-est candy bar of all time!!!! Thanks ever so much for sharing this recipe and for another wonderful video!
Yum I can’t wait to try this. I love mounds bars. Thanks for sharing. I would hope you will show us how to make your SOAP 😃😃😃 Love your channel. 😃Donna Cooper😃
We have three kid two sons and a daughter. I started teaching them how to cook at Very young age doing their laundry in fifth grade. They are 47, 44 and 41 now all them are good cooks and tier spouses are very great full .
I love Mounds bars and Almond Joy bars! Yum!❤ Thanks again for another great recipe!
I for one, would be interested in a soap making video. Love your content.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your wholesome channel!!! I taught for 35 years!!! 🥰❤️🎶❤️🙏🙏🙏🇨🇦
I have a son and daughter who are now in their 40's. I taught both equally what I knew whether cooking, how to change a tire and what I considered everyday living skills. They grew up to be intelligent and independent kids. When my son got married his wife couldn't cook so they swapped off with him cooking and her washing dishes. Both happy with what they did. A person shouldn't eat out all or most of the time. It's expensive and most is not healthy.Good for you to encourage independence.
Really enjoy watching and listening to y’all. Nice couple. You cook like I do, scraping every little bit out. But I was thinking, “. You didn’t leave any for Melissa!?!”🤣🤣. That cake looks so good I must make this too. I like that you use recipes different than other you tubers. Plus, video on soap making would be AWESOME!
Yummy.yummy
Lovely recipe again, very interested to hear your thoughts on bringing up children, I brought up 3 children on my own, they all stood on a small step stool next to me at the kitchen sink or at the stove (safe distance). 1 is an excellent chef in a well known country hotel & spa, 1 is a Social services manager and 1 is a Bio chemist! I am so pleased for all three and like to think that they learned life skills from their Mum and they were well educated by their teachers, blessings to you both
My favorite candy bar❤
Have a wonderful New Years!!
Coconut milk works well with Chocolate Cake mix.... I haven't tried orange juice and some orange zest, but I think I'll try that next week! (I grew up as the oldest of eight children and learned to cook because my family has a Big Garden. I would be left at home to make sure that dinner was ready when everybody else got home from working in the garden. I got some peace and quiet, I didn't work nearly as hard as the gardeners were working, and I got praised for it. Cooking definitely grabbed my attention!!!!!)
Can’t wait to make this , it looks delicious.
Really enjoy watching you cook and the conversation between you and your wife‼️😊
Yummy! Mounds/Almond Joy is one of my favorite candy bars, this is definitely one I will make. I always use a cake mix. My thought process is the manufacturer of the cake mix has the right ratios of flour, leavening, chocolate, etc. I have used different recipes to enhance the box cake mixes with good reviews. Also, I want to say “ preach it Brother”, Kids need to be involved in the household chores, and if you don’t teach them, who will. My granddaughter had her own shovel for “poop patrol” (cleaning up after the dog) when she was 2 years old. And just the other day, my 20 mo old grand son ( from our son) was wrangling the chickens from the garden to the coop.
Thank you for all your recipes and sharing your life with us.
Yes agree Duncan Hines for not reducing sz of product...good conversion tips to make taste homemade.
Nothing as good as fresh eggs! Our girls are still laying and it’s fantastic! Sometimes winter slows them down but we are still sharing this cold Jan 2024!
With melting one can see the progress.
Looks delicious!!
I am making this tonight ! Love easy to follow instructions.
Hello Tom & Melissa- this cake looks very delicious. Thank you for sharing it with everyone. Happy New year to you both & your family.👏👏💕🙏
Could you use a jar of marshmello cream rather than the whole marshmellos?
This looks really good! Would you do a video on making the soap?
I love all of your recipes and stories. The one I like best is the one you said " parents need to teach their children school work and not rely on the teachers". And teach them how to do chores around the house! .
We may have gotten off the subject of our recipe a bit, but we stand by the belief that children can gain a lot of confidence for life when they can cook!
In Canada our shrinkflation of foods, including cake mixes, sweetened condensed milk, etc, it has become impossible to follow recipes anymore. We also cannot get Dunkin Heinz.
I enjoy watching every video you make. Every video makes me feel like I could do it. Tom does such a great job explaining how and what he is doing.
Oh my goodness my granddaughters will love this cake.
Have a wonderful New Year!🎆🥳❤
I’m making this cake real soon for my birthday cake.
Hope y’all had a wonderful Christmas 🎄
Hi Tom and Melissa! Merry Christmas 🎄 few days late! Love your channel
Tom & Melissa. Looking
forward to more hearty
recipe for 2024!. WE love
your neat & step by step
procedure of cooking/baking recipes. Happy
New Year to you, too!
Hi Tom and Melissa, Donna here! That cake looks delicious, I know my husband Jim will love it! I have to make him our chocolate, coconut balls with pecans in them first! They taste so close to almond joys that it is just amazing! Anyway, we made the apple cider wassail for Christmas and everyone loved it! My daughters family got a stomach bug the next day and all her little boy would drink was that wassail! So thanks for sharing that with us!
It sure looks good! Thanks for the tips! I see you have your award displayed! Peace and Love to you in the new year! ❤
Enjoyed your Parenting Tips.... all my kids could do their own laundry and pack their own lunches by 6th grade. 2 of my 3 boys became excellent cooks, along with their sister. The 3rd boy will not starve, but not a gourmet cook (haha)... all my Dtr in Laws thanked us for teaching our sons to be independent and capable to be a real partner in the home chores!! Our dtr is also very capable to run a beautiful home, and 'teaching' her husband new skills (haha)
Make t-shirts..."Wow, that's so good!"
Love almond joy
I'm from Northern Ireland and I really enjoy your step by step instructions. The Lord bless u both. I'm a new subscriber. Found your page by accident.
You two make the perfect pair. I enjoy watching your channel. I'm not a great cook. Your voice is calming and take time to explain the ingredients and each step. Thank you.
Yum yum 🤤
I absolutely love watching your videos. wonderful recipes. Also, your right about having your kids do own laundry and chores. I am 55 and when we was kids u had multiple chores, did it own laundry and etc. nowadays, these parents r destroying their kids. Why? Because, the video games the cell phones, computers is their Nannies. I believe it's because they don't have their kids in there face and have to interact with them they can do their own thing as if they didn't have kids. The millineums that r being raised today absolutely no nothing and it's the parents fault.. Back to your videos though, I've got my mom watching you both and she loves you guys also. You explain everything so easy. Watching your husband reminds me of how we was raised. You don't leave a smidge of anything in the bowl. My mom always would say God does not like waste, and she still says it today. Lol. Thank you, enjoy every video and receipe.
There is nothing wrong with semi-homemade !!
Wow that cake looks delicious! I'll tell you a funny story about my mother in law (she's no longer with us) but for many years she loved to bake cakes and she brought them to the hair salon once a week and even to doctor visits. Something she truly loved to do. But she always used a boxed cake mix. If people asked her if she made her cakes from scratch she would always reply "yes, I scratched the box!". Can't tell you how many times I heard her say that over the years!
Happy New Year! 🎂🍰
😁
Tom and Melissa,, please do a video on making homemade soap. Perfect job on this wonderful cake too.
This cake is very beautiful And creative I've never heard of a cake like this before have a blessed day and Happy new year's to you and your family and friends God-bless you all! 🎉❤
