They certainly don't make VW"s like they used to. Been VW,Audi for 35 years with relatively no problems. Until my Passat B5 that is. Electric windows dropping in to the doors, water leaks in to drivers side damaging ECU under the carpet. Water leak in to passenger footwell, front and rear. ABS issues. Final straw that broke the camel's back for me: seized valve bucket in the engine after 130,000 miles. Still ran okay, but on start up sounded like a tractor for 3-4 seconds. All of this on a 2.0 litre petrol, with full service history. Traded it for a Mazda 6 estate from main dealer, 7500 miles. Loving at the moment, up to 30,000 miles with no issues and easily getting at least 45 mpg at 80 mph on long motorway runs. 2 litre Skyactive petrol.

I've got the same ( '15 manual ) coupe bought used with 17,000 mi.
Only complaint is the black paint and usual Honda issues with un-garaged exposure. Seals around windows "dried" and eroding. (It's 1st 3yrs in FL heat)
It's a keeper and will be painted/repaired when necessary, years to come.
Traded a '11 (Silver) coupe for a "newer" low miles '17 coupe. F'd up!!!!! Didn't research enough about the CVT. Nice car, BUT....battery issues, alarm? draining. Has a history from previous owner. Haven't wrenched on cars for 25yrs due to work schedule and time, but will be servicing the CVT regularly hoping to get some mileage out of it before it craps out. NOT going to pay outrageous labor rates. Oil changes one thing.
Long story short, '17 used for long trips, rack up highway miles, will be 1st to go.
'15 is a "to work" car.
Got a few ol' older Toyotas too. Keepers!!!
As long as parts available, whenever they're necessary.
Don't expect to buy anything newer than my '19 4Runner. I've got some years on me. We'll see who outlast the other.
      Love Scotty's content!!!!

I've been a Honda fan for many years and still to this day driving a 2017 Honda Accord V6 Touring as my daily driver and loving it! My first Honda was a first generation, 1981 Accord. Back then Honda was just becoming more popular in the U.S., due to the smaller engines with good fuel economy. My first generation Accord was not the same as Hondas of later generations. Back in those days Honda was still working out all the kinks in their vehicles and they had issues with very hard and clunky gear shifts in the automatics and were known for blowing head gaskets prematurely. My Accord blew two head gaskets within one year, I still loved the car but at that point I had to get rid of it. I'm not sure why some folks, "to include Scotty Kilmer", are down on the CVT transmission. I just bought a 2013 2.4L, Accord LX with CVT transmission for my son as his first vehicle, for safety and reliability. When I test drove the vehicle I was pleasantly surprised at the smooth acceleration. I truly believe that 99% of people would not be able to tell the difference between a standard transmission and a CVT during a blind test drive. In my opinion the 2013 Accord with CVT is another great Honda vehicle that with good maintenance should last several hundred thousand miles!👍🏼

I had a 2017 2.5l accord with a 6 speed manual. Nice enough vehicle, but I had concerns with the complexity of the gdi system, carbon buildup that would require walnut shell blasting to clean the backs of the valves , and the excessive pressure of the gdi limiting the longevity of the engine. So, I traded it on a 2022 hr v that is port injected, is key operated, has awd, provides much more cargo room, sits higher, and gets better mpg. I may have made a mistake, but " so far so good" !!

Scotty I have to say that I have the 2014 version of that Accord with the 2.4L and it accelerates quite well with the CVT. Perhaps you had driven your friend's car in the fuel economy mode. If you have noticed, there is a button near the steering wheel on the dash that has a green leaf symbol on it. That is the fuel saver mode. If you notice a green leaf light on the instrument cluster that is lit, you are in the fuel saver mode. The normal driving mode, non-fuel saver, provides noticeably quicker acceleration. The CVT is quicker than the regular automatic transmission linked to a 2.4 L normal non race engine, I think because it doesn't have to downshift, then upshift and upshift again wasting engine revs and such. It just smoothly accelerates and doesn't do a bunch of shifting. Although the technology of the CVT push belt doesn't seem like it should work as opposed to a geared system, it actually does. Probably if you had a more powerful engine like a V6, the push belt CVT would sort of grind away, I dunno.

Scotty I really hope you talk about the new Honda eCVT transmissions, they don't have a belt like regular CVTs, it's a complicated yet genius system, I won't buy one until you talk about it, it's the only CVT I would consider because it's not really a CVT.

For any 2016-2019 Honda Pilots, there is a Technical Service Bulletin out, concerning knocking sounds and engine failure

In my 10th gen civic si the psi starts at -10 psi unless you stomp the petal ,it will not engage boost untill you push the petal more till it does engage boost. It's all about how you drive these new turbocharged civic's that you will see they are very reliable but it's up to the owner how they drive them to deem the longevity.

Shame they did away with the V6 in the Accords.
Don't trust those l.5 turbos. Thats why we are getting a Passport instead of a CRV.

I owned a 2001 Acura CL (a glorified Accord) and had nothing but problems with it. The paint started pitting after 1,000 miles and dealer and Acura America said I was scrubbing it with a brillo pad. At 50,000 miles the transmission went out. I worked with two other people that owned this same car and their transmission also went out. The car also had a leak in the trunk. I've never had a more terrible car than the Accord/Acura by Honda.

I didn't like CVT until I owned one. They are actually really cool. For traffic it's nice not banging gears to move 200ft. On freeway you can be doing 85 at 1,500 rpm haha so fast cruiser. It's the future for sure. Only negative if you even want to call it a negative the cvt is slower adjusting at cold temperatures. Once warmed up it runs even snappier. The heat must expand the belt or something

Agreed, Honda and Toyota CVTs are really reliable. Just change the transmission fluid every 50k miles and it should last the life of the car.

@@PatrickStar12341they recommend the CVT fluid change every 30k for both Honda and Toyota
