@@cooltigerdude Looks nice, drives nice, decent gas mileage, always gets compliments. Other than the fact that my Mustang GT is a V8, has a standard trans, and is more fun to drive, I actually kind of prefer my Challenger SXT in other ways. I will admit that I sometimes wish it was a V8 R/T or Hellcat--but that feeling goes away when I consider that the SXT is better on gas and is AWD, which is much better on snowy winter roads around here. Besides, I have the Mustang GT for "fun driving." That said, if Dodge would have made an AWD R/T, I'd probably have gotten that. I will admit that I'm biased. I do not like 4-door cars. My favs are Mustang, Challenger, Camaro, Corvette, Nissan Z, Toyota Supra, Mazda Miata, etc. I'd love to have a new Nissan Z. I just think they are about the best looking small sports car out there right now.
That is a base Challenger, it is supposed to be cheap and not very fast. You get the good looks of the platform, the comfortable front seats, usable rear seats, decent fuel economy, and acceptable performance. The Challenger is not the Dodge sport car, nor was it ever supposed to be a sports car, their sports car is the Viper. This is their muscle car, but in a very base version, like a base V6 mustang. Yes, the car is huge for what it is and has poor use of all that real estate. A used 2017 Mustang GT would be a much better car, and so would a used 2017 Challenger Scat pack 392 , or better yet a used 2017 Charger Scat Pack 392 that has 4 doors and a completely adequate rear seat for adults. The Charger Scat pack would run right there with the Mustang GT and it would be 10 times more practical and even the Challenger Scat Pack 392 would still be way more practical than a Mustang GT. There is a reason why the Dodge Challenger outsold the Ford Mustang in 2021 and 2022, they are just bigger cars with more way room, they are more comfortable, they have a real usable trunk, and a usable rear seat, plus they look great.
I'm not a dodge challenger but a chevy camaro guy but it seems quite obvious that you are not doing a review but just showing your hate for this car. You are not force to buy or like this car. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder my friend..
So funny. I had the exact opposite reaction after renting an SXT. Loved it and am planning to buy one. I’ve had plenty of VWs and loved my GLI but several had issues with the radio unit shutting off while driving and the HVAC clogging up, smelling horrible. The interior of a Challenger isn’t where it’s at. It’s the drivetrain and the smooth cruiser style. I bet you had more ppl noticing you in the Challenger than in the GTI. Muscle cars aren’t for everybody just like hot hatches might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Agreed. I’m a long-distance daily driver. Over half of my commute involves hills. At the end of my daily commute, my Challenger shows 30-32 MPG, sometimes 33. Those who like the Challenger ‘look’, just see a Challenger, not baseline or high-trim. I see my 32.0 MPG!❤
True but regardless, I focused mostly on interior useability. As I understand, the infotainment is largely the same across all the models. Scatpack and Demon included
All his from a guy that drives a VW. Good to give a review, but to be so vulgar and negative is a little much If you had any history, or any real idea of what this car is your would know it is not a sports car, hence the name GT. Grand Tourer. Great for what it is ment to be. Before you were around, the brand had a more pedsertian version, the SE. This was for the folks that wanted the looks of the car with out the grunt a Hemi car produced. It was a gentilemans GT. So with all his said, if you need a card to impail you too the seat, get a Hellcat or whatever version of the top and Challengers available to do so. If you want the looks but no bruit, get the GT or SXT. Every cars is not for everybody.
I had 2 of them, one rear wheel drive and an AWD one. I never had an issue with either one and I loved the big comfortable ride. Ate bumps on the road like a luxury car. I have a Wide Body Challenger now. It’s nice and has plenty of power put the suspension is definitely more aggressive and stiffer. I’m 6’2 so being a big car is what I love about it.
At 25 to 30k canadian its a great buy used. The floating list prices for the last 3 years have been unrealistic. Great to see a video not blowing smoke. Stay safe
On the trunk, you need to work out more. Practice lifting the trunk, over and over, and it will feel begin to feel light. You will also look ridiculous in your driveway while doing so.
That’s a very base GT. There are upgraded interiors and an upgraded infotainment option that is updated. You just have to be a big car kind of person. My interior is very high quality.
Lol. No hope for kids these days. It's just a cool looking car. Awd for northerners. It's just cool. Nobody sees vw cars. They see sexy Challengers. Lol
Because the Challenger is as close to a classic American muscle car as you can get in 2024. Thats really the entire draw. The heavy, inconvenient visibility styling is part of that. The V6 is largely for beating insurance payments but having the look. Many of the complaints are valid to be sure. Visibility is trash, materials are very basic on this model you are in. Car is heavy and low. Doors are super long and open wide. Couldn't be more opposite the boxy, lightweight Golf so had to feel completely strange to drive. But others are completely on your lack of understanding of the car and its features which is understandable because it was a temp solution not something you researched and bought. Uconnect offers a lot of settings and features you had no clue about. The v6 pentastar is a really good motor. Ultra reliable up to 250K miles. But not a true sports car motor unless you unlock it with 6k-7k RIPP turbochargers. Anyone buying a 2017 mustang GT is on crack though. There is about a 90% chance that car has been driven like hell and resold as it falls apart. I say this as having a 1985 GT 5.0 as my first car and love. I also blew that motor and 2 clutches but I was 16 when I got it..... NEVER buy used sports cars unless you know and trust the owner. There are things I did in that GT 5.0 I won't confess until judgement day. A 50-dollar throttle controller upgrade will get a base v6GT to do well below 6 in 0-60. By well below I mean 5.7/5.8 lol. There are a ton of videos on that for others here that actually want to learn. For 2K in upgrades the v6 can beat the basest stock v8 and not have the 150 extra a month premium on insurance. Hilarious because literally every word of your response is false, and it keeps blocking or deleting my comments so that misinformation exists for zero reason. 3 minutes on the internet will tell you the base v8 costs 20% more to insure than the base v6. Which I know because I have paid insurance for 3 years including yearly comparison shopping on a v8 charger for my daughter who I am trying to get into a newer v6. @@ajpredatorwolf6435
This from Motor Trend Magazine. 2023 Volkswagen Golf GTI S test car-which sits at the bottom of the lineup below the GTI 40th Anniversary Edition, GTI SE, and GTI Autobahn-came, as mentioned, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. That's a rare treat in the car-testing world these days. As noted up top, this 3,110-pound hatchback launched from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, and it completed the quarter mile in 14.8 seconds at 99.1 mph. I dont know what model Golf you have 2023 a VW GTI R will get you into the 0 to 60 in the 4 second range but your talking the price of a Challenger Scat Pack. Some VW Golfs might be faster and handle better but they are ugly. Golf looks like every other car like it on the road so no one really notices them. If you want a fast Challenger you buy a Scat Pack or a Hellcat.
This gotta be a joke, right? Almost every aspect of this car is critisized by you because of your high standards. Of course the Dodge Challenger GT is not a perfect all-round car but so is your Golf. Which is, btw, a joke to compare to a Dodge Challenger, because these are 2 whole different cars. My question is, since I heard some other guy in the comments say he couldnt hear the review over all that whining, why even bother making a video about the car? So much effort and time just for telling people this car is shitty because of your high standards. I mean, of course, this car is big and everyone, literally everyone knows that when buying a Dodge Challenger. Just unnecessary your comment at this point.
I can see why you have so many negative things to say about this car, as you’re coming from a Golf R. But this car is a throwback to old school muscle cars, and that’s why people love it. What you had there was basically a base model V6 with sport package. MSRP is pretty high, I agree, but a lot of these V6 cars are being sold with big discounts and to rental car companies. I’ve seen these cars with $10k discounts for years. From base SXT to Scat Pack. For $25k, I think it’s a great brand new car. Yes it’s outdated inside, but it’s a pretty comfortable cruiser that has decent power and fuel economy, and has full warranty. Before Covid you could buy a brand new Scat Pack with Plus package that adds leather and other things for under $40k, with discounts. Those were the best days to buy these cars. I’ve never owned a Challenger, but I had a Charger Hellcat for 5 years and after I sold it 2 years ago I decided to get a Scat Pack recently. I love these cars. I had a rental V8 RT last year, base model. The factory active exhaust was the best part about that car. Suspension was nice and soft as it didn’t have sport package. Wasn’t very fast but fast enough, with great sound. I loved it. I personally wouldn’t buy a car like this without factory leather heated and ventilated seats and bigger 8.4 inch screen (but even a bit smaller screen like the one in your car has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so that’s already a big plus). I completely get why a car like this is not for everyone, but a lot of people are not as picky as you are, and are very happy with their Charger or Challenger. I suggest you get to drive one of these cars (Charger or Challenger) with a V8, that has factory active exhaust (if I’m not mistaken RT got it in 2018, but Scats and Hellcats all have it standard since day one). You might change your opinion about these cars.
Also, I’ve never had an issue with my cars always go to FM after I turn them off and back on. If I was playing music through Bluetooth or USB, it would always stay that way until I change it myself. And if I’m not mistaken, you can change how long the power stays on after you turn the car off in settings. Btw all 2 door cars have big doors to make it easier for people to get in the back.
as a car salesman never buys these cars used.. only buy brand new off the dodge dealership..lotta these cars get repo from yound guys that dog the living 💩 outta the motor even though it sounds good at 20k or 40k miles on the ODM but they are some hard miles on it..
Also I’ll say the suspension kinda kicks in when you push it. I take fast turns all the time it’s fun and the traction control knows how to keep it in line even if you’re a newbie with it. Don’t try on wet pavement though. I actually prefer the ride of a base SXT it’s a true cruiser and much softer. If you have long commutes it eats up the highway and 30mpg. No gripes here just seemed like an honest review.
you also are comparing the handling to a sports or pony car. A muscle car isn’t going to handle like a sports or pony car or like your Goff. You’re also comparing stiffer sports suspension to you tiny Goff that is in no way sporty. If you like driving a chick’s car, then more power to ya. But don’t bash something you don’t understand.
The driving portion was around 9% of the total video. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my other findings instead of being defensive and attacking my masculinity!
Best comment. I'm 6'-5" and in the 80s grew up driving 70s muscle cars but weighed 110 lbs. 40 years later I still love 60s and 70s muscle cars but at 390 lbs and 6'-5" I don't fit in classics and don't fit in Vettes, Mustangs, Camaros or imports. Hemi Ram and Scat Pack Challenger made me enjoy cars again and not get salty paying for cars that I didn't fit into.
Imagine comparing a golf to a challenger despite choosing the lowest level challenger. This dude has never owned a Muscle car before. Lets see a golf to R/T, scat pack, or demon review and then see what the review is like. I cant imagine javing soft hands like this guy.
This Challenger MSRP's for $34,000 and I bought my Golf R for $33,500, hence the comparison. I suggest moisturizer if you have rough hands! It helps a lot
fair enough if you don't like it. But some of the 'annoying' things like wider opening door, longer wheel base, 2 door setup, narrower windscreen view are muscle car heritage. I grew up a fan of American muscle this isn't the worst of it but for many its nostalgia. Like wanting to drive a mark 1 or 2 VW Golf despite it being slower and less technically able than a 2024 model folk like it for the history. For me, the GT Challenger, especially with the AWD and blacktop package I've got (including lower strut and stiffer suspension) is not only fun in spring/summer, its a beast on the snow with winters on - and the weight/wheel base work in its favour.
I think it's a nice car imo. This guy should be glad he has a new car geez my cars 13 years old runs great but needs some basic maintenance and paint job is really bad
To be fair, the Challengers fanboys flocked to the video, and he's crapping on that car. That's brave of him. No Golf fanboys come to Challenger videos, so he's taking a keyboard beating like a man. Good job, dude. I will add, Love my sublime green 2023 Scat Pack T/A Challenger, and even though it has a few shortcomings. Odd placement of cup holders preventing shifter use. No good place to keep the phone. Those are minor flaws in an amazing car that made me love cars again.
If you had a brain, you'd know it's based off the Chrysler 300/Charger which was a whole cloth lift from the Mercedes '95-'03 full size E-class, when MBZ owned Chrysler. It's not a 'Sports Car', it's a Muscle car, albeit, the GT awd is basically ansering a question nobody asked. want to race an American Sports car? Try the Mustang GT. It'll kick the teeth down you little golf throat.
Dodge GT anything is hot garbage. They're essentially all the bulk and terrible ergonomics but none of the fun. What's the point of having a Challenger if you can get pwned by any rental car at Hertz?
The reason I bought a GT is because I deal with Canadian winters. So I needed a car I could drive year round. At the same time, I’m a fan of the Challenger history, fan of muscle cars and its styling, and I don’t care about racing. Just wanted to cruise around. So for me and probably a lot of other people, it was the perfect option.
Did you BUY this CAR sight unseen ? I here you complaining about things that you don't like about this car , didn't you test drive this 2022 Dodge Challenger GT and look this car over before you decided to buy it ? , you are the type of person that probably should have rented different cars before you decided to buy one to make sure that you like it . i had rented a Black 2022 Dodge Challenger from Enterprise and it was a SXT and there was nothing wrong with that car, i had that car for almost 3 months . My 2005 Toyota Matrix that i had since it was new and it was 18 years old when it was totaled by the Insurance Company after an accident and had been hit on the right rear door and quarter panel and axle , but i bought the parts i needed from the Auto-Recycling Yard AKA The Junkyard and had it fixed and put it back on the road since it only had just over 130,000 miles on it . i bought a brand new 2023 Dodge Challenger GT Plus in Sublime Green LAST CALL on June 2 nd, 2024 . Now as for the size of the car . A Toyota Matrix and a VW Golf are Front Wheel drive cars remember they are a lot smaller also . The Dodge Challenger is a Rear Wheel drive car and it is a lot Bigger and handles quite differently from Front Wheel drive cars and those of us who drive these cars have to be very careful when turning especially when the road is wet as the rear wheels can lose there grip on the road and spin on the wet pavement( unless you have a POSI type Differential or All Wheel Drive as far as i know) and Front Wheel drive cars tires can also lose there grip on the road and spin too ,but they are a lot easier to get them back under control . This 2023 Dodge Challenger GT Plus is my very first Muscle Car that i have ever had and i will be 63 in a few days . I am very happy with my 2023 Last Call Dodge Challenger GT Plus . Always remember that any bigger car is wider and is also longer in the front when compared to our small cars that we drive around . In closing if you really don't like your 2022 Dodge Challenger GT you should sell it to a private party or go to a dealership and trade it in and get a car that you are going to be happy with that's all i can tell you . Now you might take a loss , but that's better than driving around in a car that you don't like anyway . I am very happy with my 2023 Sublime Green Dodge Challenger GT Plus . I haven't owned a rear wheel drive car in 14 years and my last one was a 1965 Lincoln Continental Limousine I should have kept that car . We all have said that about cars that we have owned . Right
The Dodge Challenger is a modern muscle car and I'm not sure you have a grasp of that concept. You would hate the Camaro's interior with even less visibility or room for someone your size. Muscle cars aren't for you. Which is fine. It's not garbage, especially for a base model Challenger GT. Just spend a few hours researching muscle cars someday.
Did you watch the video? I wasn't dissing all muscle cars, just how poorly designed this specific Dodge Challenger is. I get muscle cars are big and brawny but that doesn't mean they have to be poorly designed from UX standpoint
I try to keep it positive and not crap another people's cars, but a Dodge Charger or Challenger just nausiates me. Not only do they weigh a ton and are "flex" cars, not musclecars like a mustang - but undercover cops drive Chargers and pull people over. I just don't like the car and add that sneaky crap to the equation: Dodge=
Actually...Mustangs and Camaros are 'pony cars', and even the first gen Challenger, in 1970, was pony car-ish. Now, the new Challenger is bigger than its predecessor, and is more of a GT or 'Grand Touring' car. Just get in, point to where you want to go, and go. Also, since you're upset about undercover cops--many states are now switching to using the new Ford Mustang as an interceptor, so my advice is to drive nice.
I normally don't leave comments, but I have never seen someone be so particular on a muscle car. However, once you said you're 6'2 with a VW golf, I completely understood. I have a GT Challenger, and it is awesome! All the things you didn't like -- I was like, come on, really. You should stay with the Golf that is your speed. Leave this car to the mavericks!
You refer to it as a sports car. It's not a sports car. The GT gives it away. Gran Tour. It's meant for straight line, long distance performance, not designed for sports driving. I'm sure the car hates you too.
Oh 100%. It's easy for Dodge to be reliable when they haven't updated any of their platforms in like 12 years 😂 Turns out making 12 year old cars is more reliable than actually innovating and building good products.
The fact that they are so popular baffles me since they are such atrocious vehicles. This whole video and discussion is just my opinion. It's remarkable that no one is actually able to refute the gripes and deficits I discuss. Your last two comments are based on logical fallacies. The bandwagon fallacy and red herring.
You didn't cover the power train, which is really the best part of that car. Big naturally aspirated V6 coupled to a butter smooth ZF transmission. I guess you're right, this isn't really a review, just some "guy" whining about a car.
I understand 100 why you dont like the car. I honestly liked hearing your perspective, because most the things you saw as a negative i love and would hate to live without. I love my huge heavy challenger, with is nose dive and body roll. The interior is so nice and clean but i can always personalise and make better. I would have honestly spend so much of my time and money just to make my car as nice as it is stock, so most other things are just a plus and i could only go up lol. And i have a 19 sxt rwd with pitch black paint. (Lower trim than gt) I could go on for days. I love those big old school cars. I understand why ppl love the small sports cars as well though. Its good to know the things you like, plus the things you dont, and every car enthuist should get to vibe with a certain car they love in thier life.
I even didn't watch the video. According comments it all about wining and bragging over 2-doors sedan by someone who rather would drive compact SUV than American sedan. There is no point in it. I think we can conclude the channel.
Challenger drivers don't Drink La Croix. 😂😂 He probably drinks bud light too. I leased a Volkswagen in desperation during the chip shortage late 2021. It was a good little car but it's a girls car. My sister has it now. Went right back to my Manly Challenger which I have 3 of. 💪🏾😤💪🏾😤

This guy should be banned from posting reviews of anything! What a whinefest of a ‘review’. Ok, I get it. Now, go pick up a Fender Strat and Gibson Les Paul and realize that the Les Paul still sells really well, even though it will make you tired quickly because of its weight.
The Challenger is a Throw Back if you know anything about the Muscle car era all of those cars were full size large with large motors. In that respect Dodge kept it real. Please don't compare a Muscle car with a Golf smh.
@@cooltigerdude Didn't hurt my feelings, I wouldn't own a Dodge Challenger GT anyway ... just my intelligence thinking your review was subjective, my mistake.
Lol, you think you can't see out the front? Try having the shaker. I can't see shit. I just drive straight and hope for the best. Also, a lot of the grips are for trim level stuff that does exist but that is the basic model. I agree, it's a piece of shit for what you pay. Not sure why people don't buy Scat or above only as the R/T really isn't that great either unless you are going to mod it.

The golf and la croix in the trunk already told me all I needed to know about this review. Get your t levels checked come back and review a real challenger

Yo thanks for the info! That's good to know there are upgrade options for the infotainment. I'm glad you have the good interior! :)

You drive a golf
....are you kidding me??? I would be buried alive in that challenger before i would ever drive a Volkswagen. This video is a joke 😂
Yep. You got it! Doug Demuro intro, shitting on a base model car, etc....
It's a joke
Thanks for the perspective! I'm sure I'd love a V8 model a lot more.
Never liked a video so fast
as a car salesman never buys these cars used.. only buy brand new off the dodge dealership..lotta these cars get repo from yound guys that dog the living 💩 outta the motor even though it sounds good at 20k or 40k miles on the ODM but they are some hard miles on it..

The dodge Challenger is not a Sports car, it is a muscle car, there is a difference between a Muscle car and the sports car.
I was planning to finance a $35k base challenger at 33% APR today, but then I watched this video - thanks for the content, cooltigerdude!
33%..flmao 😂
Also I’ll say the suspension kinda kicks in when you push it. I take fast turns all the time it’s fun and the traction control knows how to keep it in line even if you’re a newbie with it. Don’t try on wet pavement though. I actually prefer the ride of a base SXT it’s a true cruiser and much softer. If you have long commutes it eats up the highway and 30mpg. No gripes here just seemed like an honest review.
I was definitely a newbie with it. Good to know it handles well when pushed! Thank you for the quality comment and insights
you also are comparing the handling to a sports or pony car.
I can't believe the trouble your having with uconnect considering it's one of the easiest ones in the car industry to manipulate
The challenger is a Big Man's coupe lol being 6'3 and 208 pounds it's perfect
😂😂😂 did your phone refuse to let you use it over a 5"er😂😂😂
fair enough if you don't like it. For me, the GT Challenger, especially with the AWD and blacktop package I've got (including lower strut and stiffer suspension) is not only fun in spring/summer, its a beast on the snow with winters on - and the weight/wheel base work in its favour.
ps 'absolute garbage' it ain't.
I don't understand this comment. Okay? It's not a sports car. Still doesn't change it's an overpriced, garbage vehicle.

Terrible ergonomics? Have you even sat in one?
