Purchased a 2024 Accord Hybrid Touring. Very pleased with quality, technology and ride. Also purchased the spare tire, jack and insert for it as it is offered in the non hybrid low trim model. Fits right in the Hybrid Touring. I'm averaging 47 -49 MPG.
@@Mandawg1 The Touring with the 19-inch wheels is rated at 41mpg highway, which is not far off your 39mpg. I have the EX-L Hybrid with the smaller 17-inch wheels, and its rated at 44mpg highway. I do 99% highway miles at 75+ mph, and I'm at 42.2-43mpg after 4,000 miles. I would probably get higher mpg if I slow down a bit but I'm in a hurry most of the time, lol
Anyone can do reviews of new cars based on shiny It's another level to see a mechanic actually have a dedicated review channel that goes over more than just the shiny bits, but also the mechanical bits that a buyer needs to look out for. Subscribed!!!!!!!
I'm glad it doesn't have a low speed gear actually. Slow speed driving is what wrecks gas mileage in ICE cars. Because the engine can act as a generator and be in a more fuel efficient capacity at slow speeds, and then actually drive the wheels at high speeds when MPG is better, it ends up being an overall better system. Let the battery do the stop and go stuff, and let the engine take the consistent highway driving. Best of both worlds.
I drive a CR-V Hybrid with the second, lower gear, and I have watched the power flow meter and the instant MPG gauge over the course of 4k miles. The gear indeed increases fuel economy, specifically at light load between certain speeds. What ends up happening when it is not "locked" is the engine has to rev a little higher to compensate for the efficiency losses inherent to turning a generator to power the battery that drives the car... might as well just go from gas engine directly to the wheels. Honda has it so when lightly accelerating it shifts into that gear at about 25 MPH, and you can hear the engine drop like an actual shift. Then at about 35 it unlocks because at that ratio it's no longer the most efficient way to power the wheels... which drops the engine RPMs, proving my point that at that speed the gear ratio is too low to be efficient... and then at 40 the revs drop again when the higher clutch engages. Only after pushing the pedal down about half throttle or higher does it then say "we need power NOW" and unlock ao the engine is free to scream as much as it needs to Having a gear though means, beyond a certain speed, you end up revving the engine too much because you're going too fast to be efficient in that gear, and Honda did an excellent job with figuring out at what thresholds it's better to go one way or the other, at a moment's notice. I rarely ever see it trip up.
@@kevinmcd112 Thinking so usually means you are thinking about it backwards. This isn't a gas car where the motor helps the engine, it is an EV where the electricity comes from a generator and a battery. The disadvantage - which is less than most think - is that you have to convert twice between mechanical and electrical power, when you could have just changed the rpm with a transmission. The advantage is that you can keep the engine near 2000 rpm and 34 HP, where it is most efficient, almost all of the time it runs. Not even Toyota's PSD can keep it that efficient, although part of that is because they use a smaller motor and a larger ICE. The reason for what you may think is "stupid" is that if you have a narrow range of speeds where you can count on it staying there, you can link the engine directly and get rid of even more loss.
@@jeffjo8732 so you're saying it's like the guy driving a tesla with the gas generator in the trunk. It doesn't make sense. The gas engine is always running and revs as it would if it was driving the car and gets literally the same gas mileage as the 1.5L turbo from the 10th gen Accord sport. This car is Honda's hint at going "full electric" to please the planet and save us all from the sun monster. It's stupid because this would-be "electric car" burns just as much gas as its gas-powered siblings. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it. Electric vehicles are unsustainable.
@@kevinmcd112 "You're saying it's like the guy driving a tesla with the gas generator in the trunk. It doesn't make sense." Well, minus that huge, heavy, expensive battery. But you have ti take it seriously for it to make sense, and I don't see you doing that. "The gas engine is always running ..." Whoever said that hasn't driven it. Here's some data on its cousin: th-cam.com/video/6glpZTRT6qE/w-d-xo.html "... and revs as it would if it was driving the car..." Sorry, another lie. "... and gets lite rally the same gas mileage as the 1.5L turbo from the 10th gen Accord sport." Over 60K miles and five years, I've averaged 48 mpg.
I have a '24 EX-L and I think the car looks great. Beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder and you can't please everyone. I'm loving the 48-50 mpg and the quiet, refined ride. Thanks for the very detailed review of this car!
Knocked it out of the park again! Because you are a mechanic, you really have the most knowledgeable car reviews on TH-cam. I especially like when you look underneath the car and comment, and unlike other car reviewers, you actually know what you’re talking about. I’m in a 2019 Sport 1.5T now and have been seriously considering trading up to the EX-L hybrid with 51 mpg, but after learning more about what a plugin hybrid is from your excellent review of the RAV4 Prime, and hearing that you think Honda may come out with a plugin Accord, I think I’ll wait. Thanks again and God bless!
I have this car and driven it 5k miles and I freaking love the thing. First car I've gotten that I view more than as just a means to get from A to B. Love love love this car.
@@danjenkins2064probably the smoothness of it when driving. I own a vehicle with gas cvt and it just runs smooth, but no worries I will be doing a TH-cam channel video on CVT transmission with my vehicle in 2025 when I do a 5 year review on it
@@nastynati3501I drive 3 hours one-way about every other weekend and I never had an issue with comfort. I’m also 25 and never have back issues so probably not your best opinion
You are right, it is stupid. I found a youtube channel where they explained and displayed this transmission. At the time I understood how it all worked. Anyway, it is not a CV. Honda has invented a completely new way of causing the transmission to change gears and its all gearing.
My thoughts exactly in re the ill-advised eCVT name. You nailed it. Since it isn't a CVT and CVT's have a bad reputation, come up with a different label. Distance yourself from the whole CVT thing.
Picked mine up 5 days ago. As a full time Uber driver, this thing is a dream. I’m complimented daily not only on the look but the crazy amount of room. Thank you very much for the battery vent warning. I wasn’t aware how important that is.
When I was shopping for a new Accord in 2016, I wanted to get a hybrid…..Do you know that Honda was charging $45,000 for one back in 2016! I went for the ICE 2.4L, which has plenty of power and good fuel economy….now hybrids and ICE versions are basically the same price. I would be very angry if I bought a 2016 Honda Accord Hybrid for $45,000 in 2016 and then saw Honda drop the price on hybrids. I got mine for $27,000 including destination, taxes and $1,500 Honda sensing safety option through Costco car buying program.
Great car. I bought one. Enjoy the gas savings for sure. And I think it looks great. I think a lot of people just jumped on a hate train because....a lot people cant think for themselves much anymore
Its good on gas because its crap. Plastic in all the critical areas to save weight means its crap car it gets good mpg because its crap. By the time its 15 years old youll probably have replaced half of it
@TheAnnoyingBoss I think its good on gas becauuuse its a hybrid? Maybe thats it. You definitely show your education on cars and how you got no say. Why be so butt hurt over this car is weird to begin with
I am a subscriber to you other channel and I literally stumbled across this channel. I purchased a Honda Accord Touring at the end of February 2024 and I must say, I LOVE THIS CAR! Smooth. Quiet. Powerful. Comfortable. Yeah, this is NOWHERE even close to the feel of previous Accords...this is SO MUCH better! Thank you for this detailed review.
I love your passion for design. Reminds me of years past when people cared more about engineering and less about gimmicks. As such, I now have a new respect for this car, which I did not have before, based on its looks alone.
@@solderbuff I find Scotty Kilmer is good as well and I enjoy he and AMD for the knowledge the impart from an end repair perspective with concern for costs.
Excellent review. I learnt so much from this review about my touring 24 than any review videos I saw before I bought the car. All I know is that I test drove this right after the Toyota crown and I decided to put down the payment on this. The silky smoothness of the engine and the manners are impeccable!
I had this car for a few months but my girlfriend wrecked it. I definitely recommend it especially after she hit a guardrail at 45mph and we came out unscathed. I’ll probably be getting a new one soon. Update: Took a little over a month and I bought a 2020 mustang GT but I’ll always miss my Accord and I’m thankful it kept us both safe.
Mr. AMD. Thank you for creating your channels. I stumbled upon your channel when you were filming from your garage and was immediately hooked as I found the 'one' channel for everything i needed for Toyota/ Lexus. I greatly appreciate sharing your vast and unbiased opinions. I celebrate your success on TH-cam and your other endeavors. You deserve it. Again, thank you and keep uploading as I continue to learn.
I hated it at first but had the same exact experience and I love them now. Haven't driven one (current DD is a 22 Mazda CX9) but damn I like how nondescript and relaxed the new Accord looks.
Having bought the 2023 Accord and now out of town driving a rental 2024 Camry I’m so grateful for the simplistic UI of my Accord. The Camry’s seems much more outdated and cluttered by comparison (only thing I like better in the Camry is the physical speedometer/tachometer)
I bought a hybrid sport 7 months ago as daily gas saver alone with my BOSS 302. Has 11000 miles now and will absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a no thrill easy to drive daily driver
I own this exact same model that is in display here (Sport-L). Overall have been very happy and the only thing I would recommend is to go with the EX-L model, cause it has 17" wheels and the ride is much smoother and it also has more features than the more expensive Sport-L .
@@angusp5515 As far as appearance, the Sport-L is the sharpest trim and that's why I bought it. But for the price it lacks quite a lot of small things that the EX-L includes, so had I done it over again I may have opted for the EX-L and then maybe added some of the black accents.
@@shojus I'd agree with you. I have a 2020 Accord Touring, but if I were to buy a 2024 I'd go with the EX-L just because of the 17" wheels. That along with being a hybrid should make for a super quiet and comfortable ride.
The transmission clutch should last a very long time because if it's only used at higher speeds it means the input shaft from the engine and output shaft from the clutch will likely be RPM matched by the computer so there will be almost no slip during engagement.
There is a video that shows the transmission completely taken apart then assembled as they tell you how it works. The gas motor mostly turns the generator that powers the electric motor that actually pushes you down the road. The only time the gas motor directly pushes you down the road is when you punch it and need the extra power. He said 62 mph I heard higher. But after lets say you punch it and pass the other car and return to normal speed the electric motor pushes you down the road. It is truly genius like he said. Great review thanks.
this system is completely different from the 18-22s. Honda literally reinvented the hybrid with this generation. I can't stress enough how awesome this powertrain is. Its truly amazing.
Just picked up my ‘24 accord touring and I can say it is an amazing car! I paid 38750 with MSRP of 40,065 and they had a $2000 package installed; (carpet and all-weather floor mats, splash guards and side skirting) Folks, this car is loaded with features and therefore value; you cannot go wrong.
I bought a CRV hybrid because of your review, I think Honda is an excellent car manufacturer. Agreed with you, Honda went backwards in terms of the look. Thanks for teaching us.
Fellas fellas we meet again! I have the 2023 base model Accord LX! I absolutely love this car! I put nothing but Premium gas in her ( I can tell the difference from Regular). I want her to last a good while. But I have added a 12” JBL sub in the back and to me it’s PERFECT! It’s got plenty of tech for me and surprisingly quick! This is my 1st Honda and I’m hooked. Probably gonna stick with Honda!
I don’t understand the hate this car gets. I now own the 24 hybrid sport-l and I’m loving it. Yes, I agree it’s not as sporty looking as the 2022, but it does look more elegant in my opinion. It’s very roomy and although it’s missing a couple of features that I believe should be standard, it’s honestly not that big of a deal. The interior is very luxurious looking and the look has grown on me.
@@bigpapi88 what? You’re comparing it to cars from a totally different segment of the market. Those start at 10k dollars more expensive than the accord hybrid. And the 10th generation is beautiful I’ll give you that, but if you watched the whole video, I think i should be happy with my purchase.
Love your in depth analysis when you do a review. Although complex in some cases you explain the technical stuff very well. Look forward to your reviews. Thank You
I had a 2018 Accord Sport with 1.5T bought new. Loved it but man it had major electrical gremlins, major carbon build up from direct injection and AC evaporator went out. Got rid of it in 2022 to CarMax. Then I bought an old es300 for $1K and added an old Sienna for$1K recently. I don't commute much and cars get the job done!
@@angusp5515or its just crap junk you ever thought about that one dummy? I can tell theyre crap and junk. Are you sure its not just a peice of junk with slave mandatory water based paint and fake shifting to make its crap transmission seem "normal?"
When I had my 2018 Accord Hybrid, I absolutely LOVED driving it because of the hybrid setup. It's crazy how fast the drivetrain is able to regenerate and refill the hybrid battery. Trying to drive solely in EV mode will turn into a game, especially when you can manipulate the aggressiveness of regeneration. I'm able to drive around town that has a 25-35mph speed limit almost completely without ever turning the engine on. It's supper easy to get 50-60 mpg without driving like an old man in a Buick. It was amazing. The transition from ev to engine drive is also super smooth. Makes the Camry hybrid feel archaic. Couldn't stand driving a camry hybrid when I got a loaner after taking my Avalon for service. I can't stand driving other hybrids after owning it.
Left my 2016 Civic for repair at the dealer, and they gave me a brand new 2024 Accord. I now love my 2016 Civic more than ever: it feels faster to me, and it has a right mirror camera. I didn't like the acceleration of the 2024 Accord because it wasn't progressive as I pushed the throttle, it suddenly jumped to being very loud and stressed. On my 2016 Civic, it feels smoother and more responsive. I'm not sure if that Accord had an issue or if I was feeling the difference between the 1.5 turbo and 2.0 N/A
Had the same experience although my current car is a 2007 Honda Accord EXL V6. I know that Consumer Reports loved it but you are right about the acceleration. Also the seats were way too thin.
The only car reviewer I have subscribed to and will subscribe to because you actually focus on the main things a consumer needs to know to buy a car. None of that nonsense 0-60 stuff everyone else focuses on that has no bearing on my usage of a regular car or truck. Thank you!
I have a highly maintained 2014 Accord with 65K miles on it. All the bells and whistles. The 2.4L normally aspirated 4 cylinder has pleanty of power. Yes it has a CVT transmission, but have fluids changed without issues so far. Great looking, relatively easy on gasoline and fun to drive.
Repost when you've got 150 to 200,000 mi on that Honda with no issues, 1940s cars got 65 to 80,000 with no issues. Nowadays if a car can't get around 200,000 mi I would never buy from that company again
@@TheMenghi1I have a 2013 Honda accord with 244,000 miles changed transmission fluid every 60,000 miles only issues I had was starter went out and tension pulley bolt broke. Good car will be in family for years to come.
I had my 03 Accord EX-L V6 for 15 years, then got a brand new 17 Accord EX-L V6. This was the last model year before Honda went to CVT. I dig the retro look of the new accords, the last gen body didn't do it for me that was why I got the 17 instead of waiting a month for the 18 and also the V6. If you enjoying driving and want the reliability of Toyota, get a Honda. I also save a lot of money working on my car because Honda makes it so easy and simple to do maintenance.
I hated the 10th gen when it first came out. The rear wasn't my cup of tea at all. Then it really started to grow on me. Now I even like the 'stapler' tail lights. The 11th gen is following a similar path for me.. Honda has some kind of black magic going on that causes me to hate their designs at first but then fall in love with them.
Idk, I really hated how the last gen Accord looked, just didn't feel cohesive. The one before it looked incredible, and still looks modern today. Likewise the Camry is over stylized. Like they tried to go aggressive, but then aborted mission halfway through
The CR-V has a low speed gearset for towing. “The new side-by-side arrangement also enables the use of an additional direct-drive gearset with a new low-speed lockup clutch (deployed in CR-V only) allowing engine drive at urban speeds and supporting the ability for CR-V to tow up to 1,000 pounds, a first for the two-motor hybrid system.”
@@jaeNeck Honda might be making the claim with a technicality, as the RAV4's tow rating may only be for the AWD system that has 3 motors (1 in the rear), or they may be referring to the CR-V having a series hybrid system vs. the RAV4's parallel eCVT.
I recently purchased a used 2020 Honda Accord hybrid. It will run on electric power alone up to about 67 mph on a flat surface. Once I hit a hill then the gasoline engine kicks into a assist. When going downhill the flow meter shows me the brakes regenerating the battery. AMD, thanks for talking about the venting of the lithium battery. I looked in my 2020 also has that vent as well so I vacuumed it to remove any dust thank you.
Looks looks looks, that is all anyone ever talks about with this Accord, but what are those looks doing for you when you're sitting inside the car! Looks are for everyone else, but the driving experience is for you, remember that!
@arr15644 Don't we all! But where can we find amazing looks with a refined driving experience at this fuel efficiency for this price? When one cannot have it all we have to prioritize!
To all people complaining about looks, this Accord resembles best the 80’s and 90’s gen Accord hatchback. If you were never used to seeing them on the street, then I understand why they look weird to you. If not, you just realized you are old.
Excellent review, I own a 2024 Accord Hybrid Touring and the ride is smooth, the interior doesn't confuse you or overload you with unnecessary buttons on the steering wheel, and the ride is quiet, comfortable, and I think the suspension does well enough at the price with 19" wheels. Your technical explanation of how the drive system works also made it easy to understand what was going on and frankly I'm not a car nut in terms of understanding what is under the hood of what I drive.
The problem is these Hondas have got WAY too expensive. I have a 9th generation. And this new accord is basically the cost of TWO of my cars. That is insane. Honda is No longer affordable
I kind of agree with you Jimmyortiz4319. 40K for touring like any others as @Noahkinz has said it what the problem is in our country. Plus the maintenance for all these new Turbo Hybrids is going to cost more. I have a 2017 Honda Accord touring V6 that I paid 29K new for it and love it. It’s also cheaper to maintain. My oil change and tire rotation was $89. My neighbor has the new touring and got the same service for $211 from the same dealership i went to. He was shocked.
I just bought a 24 touring, got a great trade in offer on my 14 ex accord. So far this new car has been amazing, got financed at 3.9% and should be paid off in 3 years.
I bought the 2024 Honda Accord EX-L hybrid. This comes with the smaller 17" wheels (other models have 19"). The 17" wheels gives fantastic gas mileage and smooth comfortable ride. I tested the milage by putting the vehicle in economy setting and filled the tank at 383 odometer miles. My next fill was at 1017 miles getting 634 miles on 1 tank. The tank is 12 gallons. This is my daily driver so 80% of the miles are local street driving and 20% on the highway. Super quiet also, which I enjoy.
Thanks for the great review, AMD. Honda did have a PHEV called the Clarity that sold from 2017 to 2021. It has an impressive 47 mile electric range. I am fortunate enough to have a 2020 Clarity and I love it (although it may look a bit weird). I believe it uses essentially the same drive system that the current hybrids use. Most of us that own one really wish they did not discontinue the vehicle. I drive it in pure electric mode most of the time. It was built in Japan and is a great car having the benefit of decent electric range for daily use and no range anxiety for trips. Thanks for your awesome channel!
It uses the third generation of this system. The Accord in th review uses the fourth. The differences? Minor tweaks to the engine and motors, which made the engines bigger. That required them to move the position of the generator in the transaxle.
I wanted a car that was roomy, good handling, quiet and great gas mileage due to an unstable world. I got the sport L with all black wheels. Added other personal touches inside and out (less is more). I love this car! Have had now for 9 months. A hatch would have knocked this completely out of the ballpark.
Thanks for a great review! I bought the 2023 EX-L Accord Hybrid six months ago, and I really like it. Things to mention - the EX-L has 17" wheels, for those who don't like the low-profile tires. The traction motor does have high torque when you need it for quick acceleration. I do like the combination of lane following, adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist; they make driving in heavy freeway traffic a breeze. I'm an older driver, so I do prefer the less aggressive style - let's call it "understated" rather than "conservative." And thank you for pointing out the battery vent; I'll be sure to keep that clean! The 12.3" infotainment screen gets high marks from me. It's mounted high on the dash, so the road is still very much in view when I look at the screen. There's a short ledge in front of the screen, so you can brace your hand while touching the screen - no trying to hit a control with a "floaty finger" while driving. And in general, there's not much reason to touch the screen once you're moving. CarPlay works very well, with the ability to split the screen between maps, music, and the power flow display. iPhone and CarPlay can be a bit glitchy due to BlueTooth, but that is generally resolved by restarting the phone. Overall, it's a great car, and I highly recommend it. It's a huge improvement over previous Accords; this is my fourth Accord!
Love that you share your knowledge. I bought a 2022 accord hybrid touring and love it so far. I hope it will be reliable, but I jumped on it when I found out it was a 2.0 MPFI (port injection, right before they went DI). Now I can understand a bit more how Honda hybrid systems work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and research!
This is the BEST 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring review I have watched and rewatched. One has to own this vehicle model to truly appreciate this reviewer's attention to detail..
Thanks for reviewing this vehicle! You can put a spare tire and take out the foam insert. Lots of cool interesting features and mechanical knowledge that you helped me with. Love your videos
Love that the "CVT" is really software, not mechanical with a torque converter, just simple shafts and a clutch. My only reservation is the battery. Hope that the cooling of that battery has been adequately addressed as this is the Achilles heel of hybrids.
@@larryordine7542I think they meant it accelerates slower than an electric car, which is pretty fair. The hybrid Accord seems to be made to chew up long distances in comfort rather than short sprints, and that’s where it shines.
Back in 2010 I was comparing the brand-new Accord EX and the Camry XLE for purchase. It basically came down to one thing that stood out to me. Road noise. The Camry was much quieter than the Accord. Otherwise, price and features were essentially the same.
No one is buying an Accord for looks! The car isn’t ugly, but not striking either. To each its own. I have the car and it does what it was built to do, and it does so very well.
Honda was dedicated their effort to making the Accord strictly a personal transportation appliance by getting rid of every feature which attracts any sort of auto enthusiasm.
And to claim the overwrought styling of the Camry looks better is laughable. I actually prefer the Camry looks (exterior) to the 10th generation Accord…and we’re talking top trims for both. But the Camry is dated.
Honda currently has millions of vehicles with recalls they cannot repair. Quality has certainly gone down. I own a 2006 V6 Coupe and I have not spent one dollar on non-maintenance repair items. Those days may be behind us.
@@dcal4455 All old cars are better than the ones we have now. They only had to make an engine and that's it, the interior had no screens and the radio you could take out whenever you wanted for another one
@@ld4974 You speak as if Toyota and Nissan hasn't done any major recalls in the past 10-15 years. From what I can see, any manufacturer can do a big fuckup. Buy what you want and keep what you love, that's all.
Have had a 2024 Accord Hybrid Sport for just over a month now, 1500 miles and love it. It’s in solar silver color which I actually love with the sport accents. Features-wise I do wish I went EX-L for heated seats, slightly better mpg, and regular tires instead of low profile that I worry will pop or damage a rim with every bump lol. But I’m fine with it as is with sport too, I’ll just gradually change stuff on it over time myself. Averaging 43.4 mpg, some drives I get 36 if it’s highway, into wind, and engine didn’t get to warm up all the way. Others I’ve done 61 mpg for city driving in decently warm weather. On the highway for long drives without heavy wind or cold I get closer to 42-43

It is paramount to keep clear the hybrid battery VENT (below the middle back seat) as stated in the video. Don’t make the mistake of covering the vent with one of those fancy looking floormats. It is easy to overlook with detrimental consequences. Glad I watched this video!!
I have a 2023 CR-V hybrid. The hybrid system is extremely smooth and seemless, and I often get 40 mpg on average. I like it very much. If this Accord has the same system, then it's a gem and will get 45+ mpg because the Accord is much lighter.
I grew up in a world where you could get an Accord Coupe with a V6, manual transmission, and double-wishbone suspension. It was a true old school entry-level fun-to-drive street car. The recent iterations of the Accord are way different in contrast.
I think Honda recognizes that the enthusiast segment is shrinking for midsize sedans and that most people still in the midsized market are looking for a competent commuter instead of a fun car.
Gee, according to Motortrend, my 2018 does 0-60 mpg in 6.7 seconds. The newer ones do it in 6.6 seconds. For comparison, the 2018 Camry took 7.4 seconds, and the newer one take 7.0. Are you sure you didn't have your foot on the brake?
Good review as always. I found a useful function for the "charge" mode. I changed the oil and want to start the ICE. But the battery has sufficient charge to operate on EV, so the ICE does not start. Select the charge mode and the ICE kicks in.
Best thing i can say to explain honda quality is. My wife has a 23 accord hybrid. She has put 65k on it already. Im 6'4 350lbs. And when i do drive her car. volkswagen has been doing the wiper repositioning thing for a long time; it probably makes the rubber come apart sooner, but keeps them working like brand new until they need replacing
I love the look of this accord, yes the civic is amazing and the accord will face a lot of competition from it, but this accord is the nicest one ever. Im just disappointed they discontinued 2L turbo and 10speed auto (V6 as well while we're at it). The hybrid is very nice though it just sucks you can get a better engine in a civic si than in the accord with the 1.5L turbo
I live in a high-rise condo, and my parking level is on the 8th floor. The charge mode is good for charging the battery. At least, 5 minutes of charge. Every little bit helps.
I had this car. A 23 sport. It let me stranded 3 times because all the lights came on and there was no power steering. The molding on all the doors was warping and caused wind noise. The whole interior had to be stripped out by dealer to find a noise which ended up being a fuel line banging underneath the car. Probably one of the worst new cars I’ve ever owned.
I had a 2014 accord, and when everyone was complaining about drooning in cvt, I wondered what they were saying as that cvt was smooth as butter. I imagine it's only gotten better
Your Type R is fun, but the Mazda 6 is fun as it is luxurious :) I want torque, ventilated seats, road feels, and nice handling. The mercury sable is a refrigerator with wheels. A better comparison based on design would be the Maserati Quattroporte, but the Mazda is reliable LOL
Ive got a 2023 sport. Cost more but it caught up to the Lexus ES from 8 years ago. It feels huge and smooth. The 19 inch wheels aren't good if you live where the roads are rough but everything else feels very solid.
I am 74 and all this tech is way over my head, I started my driving career with crank windows/ 3 speed on the column no power breaks no power steering no AC, carburetor and manual choke to start the car you turned the key to on and pushed a plunger thingy on the floor to crank it over. You do a good job of explaining the technology it is kind of like a train locomotive in a way. I am not sure I am ready to make the leap, I have a 2021 turbo 6 speed manual transmission with only 12,000 miles on the OD. My wife calls me an Auto Snob I have lost count of how many cars I have owned to date. I can't even shop for a new car unless I know alls the pluses and minus and have fully educated myself on any car I am looking at. Maybe next year I will test drive a Toyota and the Honda and see what I think. A turbo is nice to own but I would rather not have to micro manage it. Ill look around in 2025 and take some test drives.
You must do an amazing amount of technical research to do these fantastic reviews on so many different makes. I would like to know if there is a battery longevity rating and also tire life on these EV's and hybrids. Very well done, Lee
Many thanks for your illuminating, comprehensive and unbiased evaluation . I agree with your criticism of the lack of hybrid on lower models . The sport doesn't belong and I believe the EX-L is the better choice as it uses 17 and not 19 inch wheels , runs smoother and gets better mileage.
I love your videos your honest I think both vehicles are very nice and you don't go wrong with neither one of them it's pretty much just a preference thing the politicians can definitely learn from your honesty. Lol
Just rented a new Accord hybrid for the 3rd time. I put about 890 mi on it for the 6 days that I had it. Drove it from the United States into Canada rode around Canada and then drove it back to the United States. I carefully watch the powertrain indicator to see which device was driving the wheels and which device was generating power to go into the batteries. I would accelerate hard to force it to go from say EV mode to ice engine mode, listening very carefully to see if I could hear the switch of the power source. I could not! With my 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid, I can definitely tell when it switches from one power source to another. However, the mileage that I got from the new car versus my 2020 is pretty much the same. If I get another car it is definitely going to be a hybrid. And though the new Toyota hybrid has been introduced, it just doesn't appeal to me physically or in the interior, as the newer Honda Accord Hybrid.

Anyone can do reviews of new cars based on shiny
It's another level to see a mechanic actually have a dedicated review channel that goes over more than just the shiny bits, but also the mechanical bits that a buyer needs to look out for.
Subscribed!!!!!!!
Example is Motormouth. They just review new cars. That’s it.
Although I watch and subscribed to them as well for comparison
Only after pushing the pedal down about half throttle or higher does it then say "we need power NOW" and unlock ao the engine is free to scream as much as it needs to
Having a gear though means, beyond a certain speed, you end up revving the engine too much because you're going too fast to be efficient in that gear, and Honda did an excellent job with figuring out at what thresholds it's better to go one way or the other, at a moment's notice. I rarely ever see it trip up.
@@scott8919 that just sounds like a stupid system.
I have a 1992 and a 2002 Accord . Great, reliable, cars. Super easy to work on.
In the infotainment screen, you should be able to change the programming to have all doors unlock and Honda does have a spart tire kit available.
I wanted a car that was roomy, good handling, quiet and great gas mileage due to an unstable world. I got the sport L with all black wheels. Added other personal touches inside and out (less is more). I love this car! Have had now for 9 months. A hatch would have knocked this completely out of the ballpark.
most interesting reviews and technician on TH-cam by far!! You are amazing. Keep it going
Design looks retro and I love it.
Its like they did a classic appeal with a refresh. Bold. Mature. Reliable. I dig it.
Finally a decent looking and conservatively styled Accord. Really unfortunate they stopped making manual Accords and dropped the V6.
This new one is both DI and MFPI.
Negative. New one is DI only, as stated in this vid.
Awesome car, but I still love my 2020 2.0T
I bought a Honda Accord Touring Hybrid. Very pleased. Superb gas mileage.
Great video! The Accord is basically a slow electric car with a tinny battery and an ICE range extender that can also spin the wheels at high speeds
Its not slow. The hybrid is faster than the ICE engine car
@@larryordine7542I think they meant it accelerates slower than an electric car, which is pretty fair. The hybrid Accord seems to be made to chew up long distances in comfort rather than short sprints, and that’s where it shines.
@@larryordine7542 they are both slower than the V6 Camry. I bet new gen Camry will be faster
Tinny? Really lmaoooo
Who cares
Back in 2010 I was comparing the brand-new Accord EX and the Camry XLE for purchase. It basically came down to one thing that stood out to me. Road noise. The Camry was much quieter than the Accord. Otherwise, price and features were essentially the same.
No one is buying an Accord for looks! The car isn’t ugly, but not striking either. To each its own. I have the car and it does what it was built to do, and it does so very well.
Honda was dedicated their effort to making the Accord strictly a personal transportation appliance by getting rid of every feature which attracts any sort of auto enthusiasm.
I bought a '21 for looks, partly. The new generation stands out a lot less from other sedans -- the few that are left on the market.
It never did Volkswagen any harm, either. By Keeping their design ergonomics neat, and robust, they shift zillions!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually liked the older Accords for looks.
And to claim the overwrought styling of the Camry looks better is laughable. I actually prefer the Camry looks (exterior) to the 10th generation Accord…and we’re talking top trims for both. But the Camry is dated.
I always despised hybrids and CVT's but that explanation made me love this system.
If you buy a Honda - you'll feel rewarded every day! Other manufacturers cannot match them.
Honda currently has millions of vehicles with recalls they cannot repair. Quality has certainly gone down. I own a 2006 V6 Coupe and I have not spent one dollar on non-maintenance repair items. Those days may be behind us.
I agree with u that older Hondas are way better than the new ones@ld4974
@@dcal4455 All old cars are better than the ones we have now. They only had to make an engine and that's it, the interior had no screens and the radio you could take out whenever you wanted for another one
@@ld4974 You speak as if Toyota and Nissan hasn't done any major recalls in the past 10-15 years. From what I can see, any manufacturer can do a big fuckup. Buy what you want and keep what you love, that's all.
@@luanphan2706 The fact is that Honda has millions of vehicles under recall currently with no remedy available. Toyota does not.
Wow!... The anti theft is out of this world... That should be in every car...
The newer Accords will never give me as much joy in driving as the 2002-2007 Accords.
Amen!!!
2013 accord sport mt is a joy to drive in 2024
Alright then. Go get yourself one of those Accords and spare your time from watching these! 🥳🥳
Yesss, I have a 05 accord lx with 300k with original trany n motor very peppy runs like a clock ⏰️
New gen is vastly superior but keep those rose tinted glasses on. You can get the older ones for much cheaper anyway so win-win in your case
On the highway for long drives without heavy wind or cold I get closer to 42-43
Your the best car reviewer I was always hoping and praying that we get real up to date non bias car reviews from actual mechanics God bless you and your channell
I guess style is a personal choice. New accord is handsome; minimalistic like I like.
@@DaveDDD agreed. the vast majority of consumers are just looking for an efficient transportation pod, and the new Accord delivers that.
I test drove one of these this week. It felt incredibly slow when trying to get up to highway speed.
I lean hard onnthe console to adjust my big ass. NO SQUEAKS. NO RATTLES. The console is Solid as a rock. Cant say the same for any other brand of vehicle ive owned.
Really enjoyed this video and learned a few things I did not know. The wiper feature was my favorite thing I did not know.
volkswagen has been doing the wiper repositioning thing for a long time; it probably makes the rubber come apart sooner, but keeps them working like brand new until they need replacing
Nice! I asked for an Accord Hybrid review awhile back and I'm so happy to see you made one!!! THANKS CCN
Thanks Mr. AMD. The most authoritative car review channel on TH-cam. Honest and fair review. Deeply appreciate your honesty
Definitely not the norm. Sometimes bad eggs get through.
I had a 2014 accord, and when everyone was complaining about drooning in cvt, I wondered what they were saying as that cvt was smooth as butter. I imagine it's only gotten better
I’m still in love with my 2021 Mazda 6 Carbon. This car is the new impala Lol
If only Mazda 6 was available in Canada... 😢
I’m still in love with my Civic Type R. Mazda 6 is the new Mercury Sable Lol
Once again a thorough, detailed, and exceptional review.
Very well done,
Lee
Many thanks for your illuminating, comprehensive and unbiased evaluation . I agree with your
criticism of the lack of hybrid on lower models . The sport doesn't belong and I believe the EX-L
is the better choice as it uses 17 and not 19 inch wheels , runs smoother and gets better mileage.
