    This was helpful information. I've only experienced rainout twice during high humidity days. Adjusted the settings and things got better.

    Great video! Went through this last week as it started getting colder here in New England. I got a tubing wrap and it work perfectly for my CPAP tubing. Also helped when I kept majority of the hose and my head under the blanket.

    My cpap is leaking air and making too much noise. What is your advice please?

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I would start by identifying where the leak is coming from (Ex: nasal bridge area, chin, cheeks, etc) and what type of mask you have.
      Once you assess that, it may be best to complete the Mask Fit Test on your device if you have a ResMed device. The Mask Fit test can be found either in your MyOptions (AirSense 10) or +More menu (AirSense 11). You should get in a comfy position with your mask while lying on your back. Once you are in that position and have located the Mask Fit on your device, please run the test. The pressures will start low and gradually increase, which is the device testing your mask seal at lower and higher pressures. Please lay on your back and continue to try to get a good fit while lying on your back for about 15 seconds. After 15 seconds of the device reading a good mask seal, you can turn onto your side and repeat this process to reduce/avoid air leaks while sleeping on your side (more common with full face masks or nasal masks that cover the entire nose).
      If you deal with leakage while lying on your side, you may also benefit from a CPAP pillow, which we carry on our site! Feel free to check in with your device provider if the issue persists, since it could be related to the device itself. Your provider should have more insight into detailed analysis on your machine and can troubleshoot further with you if needed! We are here if you have any further questions, but I hope this helps :)

    Good info. I wish there was a reduced humidification option for the AirMini. The discs provide me with too much humidification but if I don’t use them I get too dry.

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Bill! Thanks for your comment! Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks of the Mini is that you are unable to set the humidifier to specific levels like you can on a bedside unit. You can always purchase a tube wrap to keep the tubing insulated and reduce/eliminate the instances of this occurring, or keep the tube under the blanket with you (if applicable) to also help keep it warm.

    • @billanderson5629
      @billanderson5629 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loftasleep I will try the blanket trick and if that works I’ll get the wrap.

    ok thanks for that,. i don't use any water in my cpap devices. but during the night my pillow and t shirt get wet. its not sweat...its water...i think perhaps it is from the exhaust vents on my mask. your thoughts?

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Thank you for the detailed note- you may still be experiencing condensation from the tubing, even without humidity powered on, due to your own breathing!
      If you have a heated tubing, turn your tube temp up to see if that helps. If you do not have a heated tubing, try to insulate your tubing with the tricks in the video and that should do it for ya!

    My machine is using the water to fast. I'm having to put water in it everyday and it seems like my machine is blowing to fast and I was wondering what to do about it. Thankyou.

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! First thing, let's check your mask fit. If there is air leak, that can cause the water to run out quickly. However, it is normal to change the water each day, emptying any residual water and leaving the water chamber open to air dry while not in use. You may add distilled water nightly before therapy. If preferred, you may also decrease the humidity setting. If you are new to CPAP therapy, it may take time and practice to acclimate to therapy pressures. However, you may contact your prescribing doctor (or Lofta if you were prescribed with us) requesting a pressure change for comfort. (800-698-8000 or sleep@lofta.com)

    AirSense 11 with humidifier Do you still need a tube cover if it's cold in your room in winter?

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our in-house respiratory therapist: "Tube covers/wraps will only be relevant to the user if they deal with rainout/condensation from the humidifier. It is more likely that condensation will occur in a colder room!"

    After washing the tubing, the water droplets inside never dry. What do I do?

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Few tips: wash earlier in the day to give you the most time to dry, hang your tubing in a well-ventilated area or place with some sunlight, disable the Smart Start feature (if applicable) then turn on the device to get some air blowing and dry it out before you begin therapy!

  • @triciab2354

    So my CPAP company gave me two different answers to my rainout/excess moisture issue - one said to increase the tubing temp to 82, the other said to decrease it to match approximately what the room temperature was, so around 70. Still had issues at the 70 tubing temp and water pooling in my nasal mask---help!

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our in-house respiratory therapist: "I would recommend that they increase tube temp and give the analogy of something like "If there is a puddle on the ground, it will remain a puddle until a big ray of sun hovers over it and evaporates the moisture on the ground. Think of the tubing temperature as that ray of sunshine. The warmer the tube, the more quickly it can evaporate or get rid of condensation." Have them bump it to 82 and increase as necessary"

    • @triciab2354
      @triciab2354 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loftasleep I did 82 last night and still had a little moisture in the mask, more like condensation. Should I reduce the humidity from 3 to 2? because I feel like I'm getting a bit of nasal /sinus issues with the moisture...like needing to blow my nose during the day.

    Myth or vapor wear. Distilled vs Bottled water?

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว

      The manufacturer recommends distilled to ensure that you do not get the white film/mineral deposit at the bottom of the water chamber. If you do not have access to distilled, bottled or filtered works just fine. Tap water should be boiled and cooled down before usage if necessary. ResMed will continue to recommend distilled for your own reference :)

    • @loftasleep
      @loftasleep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing, William! Your water tank should not be emptying out if you have the humidity or tube temp off! If you do not notice any water coming out from the bottom of the device (indicating a crack in the water tank) then you should be fine, but we are not sure how your device can do what it is doing! It is up to your discretion if you want to get that checked out with the provider that gave you the device or not, but it does not seem to be causing you issues which is a great thing!

    Lofta is where I go to get answers regarding CPAP masks and machines. I also have only used them to buy my equipment and supplies. They are great and so helpful. I bought the heated tubing so I would not have to deal with rainout. On my travel restmed I either buy the regular moisture discs or just use it for a night or two without the disc so that I do not get rainout.
