Absolutely no question this is one of the most sexiest guitar riffs in the history of music. There's summit extremely special about The Stone Roses that's indescribable.

Perhaps the most underated Stone Roses single of them all. I remember thinking: 'Yep. That's just about worth the five year wait' when it came out. Exquisite, understated piano in the coda. Just perfect from start to finish.

Yeah, I was just a wee kiddo when this came out. But this one and "Ten Storey Love Song" rivals anything that they put out earlier that isn't named "Fool's Gold". Groovy, sexy, dangerous and fun.

    • @suicidame
      @suicidame 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

second coming is very good, and when this single came out for me it was also a uooou. I think this album shows the bad vibe they had, but in a good way, because they still had the groove to channel it.
But man, that album should have come out two years earlier, it would have fit better pre britpop.

You have to remember that in the late 1980s and 1990s musicians were looking back at psychedelic rock music of the late 1960s and 1970s as their 'retro'. A lot of britpop and garage rock musicians were paying homage to the music they grew up with.
The same thing's been happening in the 2010s with the nostalgia for 1980s. Synthpop's been very popular these last few years. The 1990s will get the treatment soon enough...

What's most amazing about this track is this is the Roses' on their way down, when band relationships had turned sour, egos manifested themselves and financial ruin was firmly on the cards. The fact that they made this when their greatness was on the wane is a testament to their genius.

Within a few seconds I realized what I was watching and I screamed and screamed with joy! A new Stone Roses Track! This was well before the Internet, Smart Phones and Social Media and I not heard that the Roses were on the brink of releasing a new album. Fulfilled a life long ambition when I saw them live in 2012.

I remember the first time I heard this. In high school, I would be up and down all night. I would put on the local alternative rock station in Detroit. One night at 2 something in the morning I wake up to take a piss and hear this nasty, bluesy riff come on. Naturally that damn station didn't say the title or who sang it. Took me about a week to find out. Shit 26 years old and still rocks.

I bought this album before the first one, because at the time of the release it was like "wow! the Stone Roses are making a new record" 5 years after the first at that time seemed a looong period. I remember seeing this vid on MTV too, and liked the song a lot. But when I brought the CD home and put it on my stereo, I was blowned! Ian sang in such a feline way, Reni and Mani were one of the most brilliant rythmic section of that time!

    Love Spreads
    The Stone Roses
Love spreads her arms, waits there for the nails
I forgive you boy, I will prevail
Too much to take, some cross to bear
I'm hiding in the trees with a picnic, she's over there
    Yeah
    Yeah Yeah Yeah
    Yeah Yeah Yeah
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
    Hammer flash in the lightning
    They're hurting her again
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
    The messiah is my sister
Ain't no king man she's my queen
    [x2]
I have a dream, I've seen the light
Don't put it out, say she's alright
    Yeah she's my sister
She didn't scream, she didn't make a sound
I forgive you boy, but don't leave town
Cold black skin, naked in the rain
    Hammer flash in the lightning
    They're hurting her again
    Oh Oh
Let me put you in the picture
Let me show you what I mean
    The messiah is my sister

This is the best music i have ever heard in my life. This is real original music and it can not get better. Music has now been written and played. You cant make music without it sounding exactly like a song that is already out. So many artists being sued because their song is like some one else's and they did not even know it.

It's great but not original. It's in fact a Led Zep tribute (they've said so).
