      @kareem I’ve been doing photography for over a decade and I’ve had Yonguo speed lights over the years and they’re very reliable speedlights! I had one that lasted me 8 years of service until it just died last week.

      Hey man, I know this is a long shot but... I bought this exact set up that you linked. with the yn560TX-II controller and I CANNOT get the flash and the controller to sync. Do you have any advice? Ive looked up a bunch of tutorials (the few that exist anyway) and I cant find anything that works. They all just say to put the controller in ACT mode and then press the center button on the flash. Doesnt do anything. Camera and controller are both on the same channel and group and still nothing. Any help or if you could point me toward another tutorial would be greatly appreciated!. Cheers@@JamesDel

    Is there a follow up video about how you put this setup into practice? I'd love to see it. Searched through your videos but don't see anything like that. I could have missed it though.

    This is insanely helpful. I’ll be honest, when it comes to flash I am embarrassed to even ask questions because I’ve been shooting for so long. I started using my flash recently, but this helps so much for off camera stuff. I’ve got about half of it and I just need the other half. Appreciate this content!

    it's beautiful, it lights up the scene well, but you can't take it into consideration as the main flash, as I have the same one, I'm going to use it outside for additional photos, thank you for the video

    Brother I don't know if you'll see this message or not. But if ya do, I work in Unreal Engine. And I've been wracking my brain trying to figure something out. There's a movie called "Split Second" from 1992, starring Rutger Hauer. I am trying to recreate the look of that film. I'm aware that those films relied heavily on creating their look by means of set lighting, but what I'm trying to do is create the effect of how when you go to Amazon Prime or watch the DVD, the movie looks like it's CLEARLY from the 80's or early 90's. I've only seen a handful of content creators pull it off well, but they didn't explain it well enough for me to replicate it (or in most cases didn't explain it at all). Could you please point me in the right direction? I'd greatly appreciate it!

    This is fantastic! I've really been wanting to get back into using flash. I used to be ALL about it and slowly got out of it. The things you can create with flash photography are just insane. Have you ever watched lighting videos from Zack Arias? He in my opinion is a lighting genius. Also, Joe McNally and his book the hot shoe diaries taught me so much about flash tricks I had never thought of.

    • @JamesDel
      @JamesDel  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love Joe McNally's work! I'll check out Zack's videos tonight, i'm always looking for new creators so keep those suggestions coming! :)
      Yeah man, flash photography is the way to go, I'd love to see some of your flash photography pics!

    What are the perks of a more expensive off flash set up? would this work for portrait photography as well? andddd the whats the difference between a umbrella and soft box😅 Thank you

    • @JamesDel
      @JamesDel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A more expensive flash would have a faster recycle time in between bursts and sometimes have a bit more power. A soft box is a more contained (directional) light source, whereas an umbrella is open meaning the light would spill. If you were shooting in a big pink room, the light from the umbrella would reflect on the pink walls/ceilings creating a color cast whereas the soft box would eliminate that issue. Also, if you're shooting portraits the softbox would create white rectangle reflections in your subjects eyes, the umbrella would create circle reflections. And yes, this set up is perfect for portrait photography - especially if you are using 2 speedlites! 🙏🏼

      @@JamesDel Thank you! I did a lot of research. looks like a octobox or beauty dish (for vintage look?) type of soft box would elimate the rectangluar reflections - haha dont think id be getting a 2nd speedlite anytime soon, I don't even have my first yet 😂

    Will this be powerful enough in an outdoor setting with backlighting on the subject?

    Hey James! Great video and so useful! I was wondering if you could attach different links to the items listed? For some reason they are not usuable links. The ones below My Socials work but not the ones above. I am trying to figure out what trigger you use. Greatly appreciated! Thanks
