Just bought my first car today, a 2009 RX350 with 210K miles for $5500 (before fees/taxes). It runs like 80% new. I can't believe it...Hope she can serve me well and I can pass her down to my child in future and tell he/she to upgrade when this RX dies.
Congrats on this major milestone with the RX! The vehicle has held up supremely well for the age and mileage. Now let’s see her get to half a million! 👍🏼😄
I have a 260k mile 2003 ES300 and it had the same door lock problems on all of the locks pre 200k miles. It always fixes itself so never pay for the actuator. Also it typically happens during colder months. For me it hasn’t happened since 2014 or 60k miles.
Oh very good to know! That sounds almost exactly like how the driver's door lock actuator works in my car. I don't think I will ever fix it then, as long as it doesn't permanently go out. It's also awesome you've got 260k on your ES300. These cars just love to rack up the miles!
I'm actually hoping to get an update out in the next week or so! I've put on 23,000 miles since this video- it's at 273,000 miles now. About 1,000 miles after this video, the thermostat ended up failing. At 270,000 miles, the neutral safety switch failed. I also found out that the parking brake broke, but that could've been broken for quite a while before I discovered it didn't work anymore. There are a few slow leaks in the power steering and rear differential, but they're not leaking to the point of dripping on the ground, so I am letting that go for now. I will say, for such an old/high mileage luxury car, these repairs were really minimal. I also still get in my car and drive it like any other car with 200k less miles. I just would be a bit wary of a car with such high miles. Even if it is well taken care of, there are some components that will be approaching the end of their life like the thermostat and neutral safety switch in my car. Those repairs can add up since they were both $350-$400. There are most likely some seals that are getting old too. Just keep that in mind, but if I were going for a car with that high of mileage, I'd definitely have a Toyota or Lexus at the top of my list!
Menachem Herssein I did forget I’ve had an intermittent check engine light for a code for the catalytic converter. It came on around 271k. I cleared it and it didn’t come back for 1,700 miles and it cleared itself so it’s possible another catalytic converter is going out. Still, not a problem that’ll leave me stranded at least!
We've had two. One was for the brake master cylinder that would leak and one was for the floor mats during the whole stuck gas pedal fiasco. Interestingly both were done within 5 months of each other in 2011. The previous owner had two recalls too. Theirs were for the floor mat clips again in 2006 and the brake light switch in 2005.
Daniel I’m actually not sure! So I’m thinking that the body panels and parts are more expensive with Lexus than Toyota, but typically older people drive Lexuses so I think the prices could be similar.
That's a good question. Honestly, I haven't entirely planned it out. I am really hoping that it gets me through college and at least half a year into a job. But that'll be in 2021 now so it's got quite a ways to go. And it'll definitely need a timing belt before then, which is going to cost around $800 and that's going to be tough to justify. I think as long as nothing else breaks or it gets totaled, it'll be around until 270k at least. We'll see from there.

Gary D. Congrats! These cars are crazy solid at high miles. Hope your RX treats you as well as mine has treated me!

James King thank you very much! I’d love for it to make it that long! Just might have to start driving a bit more to rack up that many miles haha!
I have a 2007 lexus rx 350 with only 55,000 miles i got ways to go lol nice video and car👍👍
CASHRULESEVERTHINGAROUND ME thank you! Sounds like you’ve got a great car too! 55k is quite a low mileage example.
I have done 300000 kms in my RX330 in australia ...no issues and my 4 th Lexus :)
That's awesome! Hopefully you've got many kms ahead!

@@michaelwoyahn2238 so still nothing major! That's awesome.

how many miles did it get to?
It got to over 286,000 miles and was still kicking when I ended up getting a new car!
Nicely done! How much did you pay for the lock actuator replacement/repair?
murfslk230 thank you! We actually didn’t have to replace it yet. So far it’s fixed itself after a bit, so hopefully kit stays fixed!
Have you had any recalls on your RX?

Does this have Bluetooth
Is insurance more expensive than a Toyota?

How long do you actually plan to keep it?
