Madonna in a interview stated she was portraying the embodiment of human angst in physical form...
People have laughed at me when I said it but I consider her to be one of the greatest ARTISTS in history. Take everything she’s done in her life…every song, every video, every movie (bad and good), the controversies she provoked, the ancient religion she breathed new life into, her philanthropy, her family, her businesses - her life is an incredible mural montage of moments that so many of us recognize and know and relate back to our own lives.
Her life has been her greatest canvas.
I think she could be the greatest, such a creative force, she changed culture and her influence is everywhere 🙌

Well Shakespeare was dismissed in his lifetime and only started getting appreciated 200 years later. Like many now admired artists. Madonna will be appreciated more in the future
I'm 57 and the only music I listen to at this point in my life is Madonna and The Beatles. To me they're the greatest of all time. After so many years Madonna and Beatles' music still surprise me. Their music is so versatile and there's no place for boringness!

I’ve been loving your Madonna Deep Dive series. She’s riding a wave of newfound popularity. Young people are discovering her music for the first time, and it’s amazing to see. It’s such a testament to her longevity and ICONicness. She will always be the Queen of Pop. 👑
That's because as somebody who was a teenager in the 1980s, there just is no other Madonna. No other queen of pop. There just is not.
If you just go and check the videos other 'icons' like Whitney Houston and Kylie Minoque did in the 1980s/and particularly 1990s, you'll see it's not really in the same class at all. We can all talk about voice, but artistry... That's Madonna. Nobody can refute that.

You know what she's always had more than anyone else that came after her: class and basically just good taste. You could never call Madonna "cheap", even when she was stripping and baring it all, for some reason, there was always an art component to it

I remember seeing this stunning video when I was 20 years old for the first time, and I'm 44 now. Where the hell does time go? I can relate to this song so much more now however than I ever could in 1998.
Same story here, though I was 19 when I first saw this video in a CD/Music store back in my home country, Colombia. I’m 44 now and still mesmerized by it.

I was a senior in high school when this video premiere on MTV and it was mesmerizing then! The end of the video is her sucking the moisture of the earth into her symbolizing the mythical character she is playing. The entire I can melt your heart so give yourself to me is more like, at least to me, is wanting to take the love and warmth she lost from you. Little do you know, afterwards, you will be broken and frozen like her.

Love the dark gothic look she had here. She rarely has the dark hair, her natural hair color. And I loved this video and its themes, which I got were possibly reincarnation or her soul splitting into these other elements. It was definitely metaphysical and on a whole different level.

Her Chris Cunningham video collaboration happened when and after she watched, and heard about how people were reacting to the Aphex Twin music video "Come to Daddy" which Cunningham directed.

This is by far my favorite Madonna's song and video.
Frozen is my favorite Madonna’s song, absolutely beautiful. The video is amazing, like you said simple yet so mesmerizing. The whole vibe is so mystical and I love it. One of the tattoos means “to speak out loud” and it’s of Hindu origin. I believe that onyx in her necklace means “clutch” since she is singing “you hold the key”. Great reaction!

I think I saw somewhere that she was portrayinng the greek goddess Hecate in this video. After that the video took a whole new meaning for me, specially after researching what the said goddess is about.

I loved how Madonna incorporated her early modern dance training into the movements in this video, it was such a gorgeous homage to her dance idol Martha Graham. It really was a great full circle moment.

Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone. Veronica is her third name. During promotion interviews for this album, Madonna would mention tapping into Veronica Electronica. Hence the 3 Madonna's in the video. Already a gorgeous song, the video takes it to another level. Enchanting

I BECAME A FAN WITH THIS SONG! I was 16 and loved her but this in 1998 blew my mind, plus the single RAY OF LIGHT. One of the best pop eras in herstory.
About the end of the video, I always thought of her sucking the darkness out of that place and giving life/peace to it. Also saw a video of a guy explaining the symbolism of the song/video. It is very iteresting. Oh and her character is inspired of Debra Winger's character in the movie The Sheltering Sky by Bernardo Bertollucci.
Hey Taylor great reaction! During an interview on MTV in 1998 she said she was playing a “mystical creature in the desert” and it was shot in the Mojave desert. Chris Cunningham is the brilliant Director.

This video and Madonna remind me of the neo-pagan goddess, Lady Hecate; which would explain the 'witchy' vibe to it. She in "triple form'', ''Key'', black dogs, night time, are all references to the goddess. i believe this was a time when she was exploring her spirituality.

I was a junior in high school and became an instant fan when her first single, “Everybody,” was released back in 1982. Being in high school I discovered something about myself which was pretty taboo to discuss at the time. Yet following Madonna’s musical journey help me understand it’s okay to be who I am and pretty tell those who opposed, “Fuck You!“ Thanks for your journey through you discography. I’m glad to see someone appreciate her artistry and her underrated talent. Look forward to your continuing journey!

Madge has been my goddess since 84 👑 ❤️ and for many years/decades (damn I'm ancient)I would've said "Live to tell " or "Like a prayer "were my ultimate favourite songs/videos without question. I'm now 54 and for last decade creeping up in the background, almost haunting me to become my number one is FROZEN, truly her most ethereal beautiful song and video now my only number one. Awesome react great commentary and energy .
