One of the three best halftime shows! At 54 years old, Madonna’s performance is nothing short of sensational. Legendary!

Madonna is a perfectionist when it comes to her performances. So many dancers, gladiators, choir, marching drum band, all the cameos of those famous artists. Imagine all the rehearsals. Madonna doesn't do anything cheap. The best performance hands down goes to our QUEEN.

The weird screen glitch that happened after M.I.A’s rap was them attempting (and failing) to censor her flipping the bird at the end.
They ended up suing her for 2 million for that bird flip and she had issues with her US visa because of this. Sad tbh.
crazy how we demonized MIA for dropping that “bomb” when the US sends actual bombs to middle eastern nations killing innocent people.

She was sued for 16M$ actually. The case was settled privately and it really affected her career. Imagine America being mad at an artist flipping the bird during a performance. That’s so silly.

This halftime actually changed the way every halftime was seen to be, and set a standard! If you notice that everyone after it built after the other. No one really was referencing or even thinking of doing anything from before hers!
Actually Michael aJackson changed all that in 1993, he set the standard. The first person to perform this kind of show, then everyone else followed every year after that.

@@andatinyshiver we are on about the half-time show at the Super Bowl. Michael Jackson was the first ever star to perform it, then it happened every year after that as it was so successful. Probably adverts were shown before that.

There was a live audience video from a dad bring his kids to the game. U can only hear the songs but the commentary and interactions between them was very entertaining. Just showed how the audience felt during that time.
That vid of the dad with his 2 sons just showing the 3D projection is fucking awesome

The way she mannaged to make it about the sports, politics, relligion & activism withouth conflicting these very much different categories. The way she made it a cohesive story, akin to some kind of pop wonderland, where she's like Alice, a heroine interacting with everyone and running through the whole thing evolving and adapting. It's fascinating. When she cares enough, she's an alchemist in the world of popular culture - turning popular elements into artistic gold.

they did her dirty tried suing her for i think 1m+ and demanded a public apology but the guy who flipped of the world cup camera (with out censor ) in his performance was given no trouble for it

There will never be another Madonna. Often imitated, but never duplicated.
I believe this performance set a new standard for production and performance at half-time shows. It was perfection -- and she did it all in 4-inch heels! Also, she carried the show pretty much the whole time; other performers usually have others pick up the slack with their own number. For the grand entrance, looks like Madonna wore the crown Cleopatra wore (in the film) when she entered Rome on a chariot. Awesome! More people tuned into this half-time show than the game itself.
EPIC! World class entertainment.

This performance is almost 11 years old, it help up pretty well and Madonna rocking it at 53.
It made everyone else need to up their game in the following years, some did , some didn't haha
It's funny that I don't see this performance brought up recently, when there are discussions of epic Super Bowl performances. This was my first time watching and I can't see any way that I can't admit that this is by far the best of them all. This had EVERYTHING! I see now why Madonna has so many die-hard fans. I think I need to dive into her discography soon!

And as a fan, we get used to people ragging on our queen but I want to commend you for your appreciation of Madonna and her work. This show is a testament to Madonna's worth ethic, she put together one of the best Half Time shows in history, in just 3 1/2 weeks, whilst recording an album, putting together a massive world tour and promoting her new movie that had just come out... she didn't get given the title Queen of Pop... she earned it!
@9:11 MIA gave a middle finger to everyone watching right here on National Television. Pretty sure she was the first person to ever do this. Within this great performance status quo overall there was this rebellious moment. That's why just a moment later the video gets all horizontally distorted and he says "what is that?"

I've been to two concerts and I was overwhelmed
This was pure ART , the whole Show , there are dancers and then there are the Madonna dancers , other level , this still one of my fav all time half shows
The most iconic part of this whole performance is queen MIA flipping the bird like the the badass she is.
I'm a lifelong Madonna fan...im talking I've been to every tour since her first in 1985 and every once since plus some secret performances in the 90s clubs in NYC....and watching you react and APPRECIATE the power and artistry of Madonna is amazing to watch. I love Madonna’s halftime show so much. One of the best. I just WISH she did it solo. She has so so many hits some of which are so massive (Like A Virgin, Material Girl, Ray Of Light) that it’s sad to see them excluded for the likes of Party Rockin and Give Me All Your Luvin’

This was absolutely amazing and it set the benchmark for future halftime shows, the same way her Blonde Ambition Tour set the benchmark for live shows so many years before.

Wow, wow, wow!! This is the first time I've seen this performance. Madonna looked and sounded amazing. Cool choreography and special effects. I think this is the best Super Bowl Halftime that I've seen and I'm not a huge Madonna fan - I have one album. Blown away. Not a single negative critique to think of.

Tyler I’ve seen this so many times. I’ve always enjoyed it but I always felt I had to be on guard or secretive when enjoying M’s music as a gay man. Here you are experiencing this performance for the first time (I’m presuming you’re straight) and you are enjoying it so much. Watching this today on your channel (came here to see if you’d made it to a Celebration Tour show) I feel like I am enjoying this vicariously through your experience-as if I’m finally experiencing it for the first time with no shame. I think you have to realize that in the 2010s Madonna was focusing on a second career; as a screen writer and director. With all of her musical projects the films usually took precedent. Hence the result of MDNA and Rebel Heart (which still do have some stellar songs attached). However, she has never lost the ability to put on a world class show.

The fact that she debuted in the 80s and this was 4 decades into her legendary career gave me goosebumps. She was 54 years old in this. She aged so gracefully
It was so immaculate put-together. From the starting point to the end, the flow of the music AND the emotion feels so natural. And the fact that she had 3 set of guests like all those crazy early 2000s halftime show but still maintain such a consistency and control is crazy. And the way she used both ancient Egyptian sound and the then latest EDM hit to make her hits from 80s and 00s sound appropriate in 2012. My favorite halftime show of all tine

Like A Prayer ALWAYS affects me. By the end, my heart is in my throat and my eyes are filled with tears. If I'm ever lucky enough to see her live, I will undoubtedly be like one of those teenage girls you saw crying and going nuts over Elvis or The Beatles.😂

As a long time Madonna fan i think the setlist could have been better, she didnt need to perform "gimme all your luvin" full imo but i understand she had a new record and tour based on that album to promote, so... Anyway, the entrance and ending are really breathtaking and amongst the best moments of Superbowl halftime show history. I could argue that was the best entrance of all not only because of the impact it has but all the details, everything is so well thought and pretty. Amazing production.
The halftime medley required 320 hours of rehearsal and included 20 dancing dolls, 17 main dancers, 200 members of a gospel choir from the Indianapolis area and 150 gladiators to carry Madonna into the stadium. Madonna had crushed 18 karat gold on her eye shadow and lipstick and had mink hair eyelashes.
