      I remember when Brittany Spears was popular and people were saying she was the next Madonna. I thought compared to Live To Tell, Crazy For You, Oh Father, & Take A Bow, Brittany would never come close. Madonna was pop, but she had some very emotional songs.

    • @en6278
      @en6278 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JB-pl1iu she is a great pop singer. Im always struck by all the different tones & textures she has even just in her ballads. Like in Spanish eyes her voice gets really gritty & raw in the chorus. It always hits me. Theres different categories of singers. The big power vocalists like Celine. then the more personality pop vocalists like Madonna. She is a chameleon who can lend her voice to so many different kinds of production. Celine cannot do that.

    will REALLY surprise you. 🔥
    When she played Evita Peron in the '96 movie "Evita" check out her cover of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina". These two songs are opposite ends of the Madonna spectrum.

    I have watched your channel for so long. I’ve never gotten tired of listening to your thoughts on different genres of music. I’m glad to see you have stayed true to yourself and have kept such an openness to different sounds! My most favorite thing about you and your channel is how excited you get when you hear something you like!! Your excitement is so very clear and contagious! It makes me fall in love with songs and musicians all over again!! Thank you!

    Madonna is the real deal. This was her at 27 straight after her very young early mid 80s breakthrough. She proved she could pull off a mature ballad, written by herself and was much more than hype but here to stay and expand her audience to Adults and cross over to A/C stations as well. Beautiful, timeless song imo
    She looks beautiful in the video as well.

    Until her album "Ray of Light" came along this was my all time Madonna song. "The Power of Goodbye" de-throned it. But it still remains up there with the best of them.

    One of my favorites from Madonna, this is a great song. This song had a maturity that wasn't found in her early songs (most of which were dance oriented), and in fact marked the beginning of Madonna's ongoing evolution.

    There is a reason she was such a superstar! Never fails to give me chills, and I was coming up in the '80s! So I've heard this song a lot. Great reaction, friend. She wrote the song and composed the music with her producer Patrick Leonard who helped with some of her best music.

    I’ve always been a fan of Madonna. I was a kid in the 80’s and had two sisters who listened to Madonna so I’ve always known and loved her songs.
    But only now that I’m in my 40’s do I truly appreciate the absolute genius in her music.

    Gosh... they were all so young there. Not a Madonna fan but her early stuff was really good. She was really beautiful here. Sean Penn and Christopher Walken. Darn. They were just babies. Great song. Movie scenes from ... At Close Range. More of a fan of the movie than the song tho.

    Patrick Leonard was commissioned to compose a song for a film and asked Madonna to write the lyrics, but that commission fell through, so she and Sean Penn decided to use the song for Sean's film instead. Madonna wrote the lyrics quickly and recorded the song in one take, although she didn't originally want to record the song because of its lower register. Leonard insisted, however, and the rest is history. One of her best ballads.

She was asked and admitted he would always be her true love, despite all they went through- 💙👍✌️
