Traxxas is the Nvidia of the RC world. Everything is thought through and polished to the max. Everything is proprietary too...

Not a problem. That's a proprietary balanced charge plug. Swap it for a usual balanced charge plug on the battery and use it's plug for an adapter. Solder three wires twice and it's done.

You realize not everyone can solder or even has soldering tools right? I personally consider it a problem if you have to solder your battery connectors out of the box

@@CrawlDaddy43 you might check with your local hobby shop, if you have access to one. The ones around me will solder for $5. Just an option you might not be aware you have. Good luck

@@CrawlDaddy43inkering part of the hobby…but it’s always fun hearing people cry instead of use their hands in a way that isn’t hard at all. Soldering tools cost less than $20 for a kit and it is NOT hard to learn at all. Get over it and use your hands dweeb

My experience with this car so far...
Batteries are cheap so bought a couple extras
    Charging is very quick
1 battery typically lasts around 1hr on rough terrain

Most shops for a small fee plus the plugs and such will make an adapter to fit your existing batteries. That way you can use your batteries and chargers. And if you have them install your style plug back onto the traxxas battery you can remove the adapter and charge it with the usb charger and still get the full use out of that battery as well.

I just bought the bronco and after two charges the damn thing won’t power the car anymore. The charger stays steady green but when I plug into the receiver , the receiver comes on red, the. Green upon turning on my remote, wheels align , then it powers off. So frustrating.

I fail to understand why anyone feels they need to start swapping ESC because of a battery. It's not like the battery is expensive. Eventually they will sell options for charging. Eather way, it's still better than toy grade vehicles.

Theire are new adapters made now by a few different people where you can run other type batteries in them now. I’m gonna order a adapter that will let you use any 2s lipo with balance port.

They have videos on how to make a adaptor cable on TH-cam, I did it for my other Traxxas cars and will do it on this too, just need a 3 wire balance cable

Yeah dude, the battery charger SUUUUUCKS!! It doesn't let you know that the battery is charging nor does it let you know that it's done charging, like...how the hell are you suppose to know this shit?! 🤦🏼‍♂️ Yeah man, hopefully they come out with a better charger for this battery!

Ohhh it plug directly into the esc too so you can't just cut the wires and solder a new connector. Probably wait for some 3rd party adapter?

I don't have my TRX4M yet (preordered online), but I already ordered a Quicrun brushed mini ESC and a stand alone receiver for my multi model transmitter. Just annoying that I can't even get an adapter or new connector to use the stock battery. But I'll be damned if I'm going to buy their proprietary stuff, I'll spend the extra money to have interchangeability.

But this is an «id» battery, dont they have some kind of chip on board balancing them ?
For the target group I think its okay, its made simple, and the runtime is at least for me rather good. For «storage» I just time my charging to about 15min to bring up the voltage a bit before I put them away.

Perhaps someone would tell me how to disable the Lipo function on the esc so I can use Nimh batteries on my TRX-4M. I have tried the 'hold the button down and the forward and reverse tricks with a Lipo plugged in to no avail. I am going to cut off the Traxxas connector and make up a connecting lead to a suitable NiHM battery that I have ordered and give the Lipo the salt water treatment. However there is a single balance wire that connects into the ECM2.5 esc - does it let the esc know it has a lipo connected or does it power the lights - what happens if it is made redundant? I may start by cutting the balance lead and see what happens. The balance leads on other Lipos would seem redundant after the cell balancing so why plug this one into the ESC? last point the SCX6 Wrangler esc can be programmed with a 'card' I guess that is why the TRX-4M is so cheap. Any help would be appreciated.
Since writing the above I cut the balance lead with the battery connected and the chassis lost all power. I cut off the Traxxas plug and made up a intermediary screw type connector block keeping the red positive wires connected but changing the balance and negative wires around to try and get things working without success, strange thing when I put the lipo into salt water loads of bubbles came off the balance lead and none from the others, interesting.

Isn't a problem for 95% of people that this truck is being targeted at and who will buy these trucks. True RC hobbyists are the only ones who might care. An extra battery is $20 and charger $17 which is very affordable.

You're probably right. The TRX4M is a very approachable way to get into the hobby so I think it'll attract a lot of the more casual people

Yeah because the all holy arrma doesn't do this with their own proprietary battery and charger riight??? 🤡 the spectrum batteries with that wierd ass half circle half flat battery plug which is proprietary also IC3/IC5 which is somewhat close to the EC3/EC5 what hobbyist uses but thexy aren't compatible without plus connectors. But arrma sell those for a price.
