Nothing wrong with this setup, its a great way to get into the hobby without blowing a ton of cash in the beginning. Some people go all in and after 6 months they're trying to sell a complete setup cheap, or it ends up as a laundry rack. There is always resale value to sim racing stuff if you ever decide to upgrade.
A few tips for you: 1. I do not reccomend using gloves while your starting, as you loose a lot of feel and grip of the wheel, and you definetly need that for rallying. 2. Try and mod your shifter, which is incredibly easy, to be sequential. Trust me, it was the best mod when I started out. There are numerous tutorials and it is really simple. 3. And lastly learn pacenotes as just using adjectives to describe the turns does not give much variety. Instead, watch some tutorials and try to learn pacenotes as they really are not that hard. Hope I helped you out!
Thanks for the tips man definitely helps! I'll lose the gloves for now and look into the shifter mod and try to learn the notes! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I just bought a Logitech g920 this month and the vevor race stand so I'm in the same boat with you just getting started out been playing a lot of Forza Motorsports also dirt rally 2.0 and WRC 8 you're doing way better than I was at the rally stuff I did not get the shifter though but I did read in one of the other comments there is a mod on Amazon to turn it into a sequential slap shifter
Not really a critique, but i would suggest skipping the simplified calls and work on getting used to the modern calls. The numbers denote the severity of the corner, the lower the number the sharper the turn. Also work on getting the call images and sector progression off the screen. They lead to bad habits that pull your attention away from the stage and the co-driver calls. The purpose of these suggestions is help you work putting all your focus and attention onto the stage.
If you get more interested in the hobby and want to upgrade. Defenitly upgrade your rig > pedals > wheelbase before three monitors. A cheaper way to get alot of immersion is VR, right now you can pick up a meta quset 2 at bestbuy for 250USD (normally 300USD). Also don't cut means to not cut the corner when taking it. For example there can be a building or any other hazard right next to the road, and therefore your co-drier says don't cut to indicate to you that you cant cut the corner cause you'll hit whatevers next to the road. If you go back into the video at 13:00 when your co-driver says cut, you can see that there was a lot of open space in the corner, so you could cut it and save some time.
I did start with a G29 in 2016! First on the desk, then on a DIY wood rig, then a Playseat challenge which is the foldable chair, quite similar to your NLR chair. Enjoy racing!
Been a sim racer since I think with GTR2 with some cheap thrustmaster wheel in 2006, now after 9 years break of sim racing i decided to get moza r5 dd wheel. Oh man this was all I needed for all these years. Not just laying down before work and after, more happy now, racing before work and after work :D
Hey man just stumbled upon your video and you're off to a great start! You've got a lot of great starter gear and you'll get a ton of use out of it learning the basics of sim racing. Of course later on down the line, you'll want to upgrade and here are some cost-effective recommendations I have based on my current rig: 1. A good set of pedals will be good to making your more consistent around circuits. I recommend getting load-cell pedals as your next upgrade and the MOZA SR-P pedals are a great value. 2. For a wheel-base upgrade, hands down direct-drive is the way to go, especially with how cheap it has become over the years. Even something like the MOZA R5 or Fanatec CSL DD will give you so much more immersion compared to how clunky the g920 might feel. 3. With all that being said, you'll need a capable cockpit to handle the forces applied to this new gear. Aluminum extrusion will get you some of the best performance but can get expensive for the high-end stuff. For a while, I was looking at the 6S-Slim from 6-Sigma Sim Racing at only $300, it's a great value but, even better value is to build a rig yourself out of some 2 x 4 lumber. You'll get the rigidity of the aluminum extrusion rigs but, it'll be SO MUCH cheaper than those. My rig was only about $70 in materials and it can handle my MOZA R9 wheel base. 4. Also, a 3D printer is a great tool to utilize to add come QOL improvements to your rig. Anyway, I hope the best for this new hobby you picked up and I hope you can enjoy it for years to come. Goodluck!
Thanks so much for taking the time to write that all out! Lots of amazing tips and I’m so grateful for that! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
When i started out, I had an older logitech wheel clamped to my desk, when I finally got the F-GT lite and the G29, It felt so amazing, I wish I had started with it myself! Sim racing is getting really interesting these days and really good sim racing equipment is getting cheaper all the time. When I got a DD wheel it really changed everything, definitely an upgrade that I recommend in time. Above all though, have fun!
Thanks for sharing your journey! Starting with an older Logitech wheel and then upgrading to the F-GT Lite and G29 sounds like a big leap. I totally get that amazing feeling when you step up your game. It's cool to hear that sim racing is getting more interesting, and you're right about good equipment becoming more affordable. Your recommendation for a Direct Drive wheel has me intrigued-sounds like a game-changer. I'll keep that in mind for the future. Most importantly, your advice to have fun is spot on. That's what it's all about, right? lol
There was definitely a point where I got really bogged down by details that weren't really important. It's all about having fun, and there's plenty of fun sim and simcade titles alike. Don't ever feel the need to limit yourself to one sim or search for the 'most realistic' sim. Getting a DD wheel is definitely game changing, but that's also when sim racing becomes a money pit. Even a low power DD like a Moza R5 or a Cammus C5 feel several steps above a gear or belt wheel for only a pinch more, which is probably what I would recommend for your set up. I would definitely take the time to research to find what works best for you though. @@SimulatedShift
The Car you're driving in this video is a FWD car (Opel Corsa). So it bites in the front more, So maybe use a bit less ebrake. More just normal brakes. Ebrake maybe just for the super tight corners. These cars aren't that tail happy. Just a suggestion. I dont drive sim
I am confused. FWD have ton of understeer it’s going to be hard taking the hairpin at speed and you won’t be able to easily shift the weight to the tail with out the ebrake. Either way, dialing the use down needs to be done here.
Nice video, we've got quite a similar setup. I've got the Next Level F-GT Lite, the G920, and the shifter. I just recently purchased the Next Level Racing free-standing monitor stand and put a 34" curved ultrawide on it. Also, I upgraded the Logitech shifter to the Fanatec Club sport shifter (supports H pattern and sequential mode) and the Fanatec handbrake. I see some people recommended modding rubber bands onto the shifter that would definitely make shifting gears a bit easier when you're rallying. One thing I didn't see anybody mention and it's not really apparent from watching the video would be enabling DLSS mode in your graphics settings. The 3050 while good enough to run 4k smoothly, could still benefit from having DLSS mode enabled. Either way it'll be cool watching your progression as time goes on, as I enjoy using my g920 but I want to upgrade to a Direct Drive wheel and maybe some Huesinkveld pedals in the near future.
Thanks a ton for checking out the video!mYour rig sounds awesome! The Next Level F-GT Lite is a solid choice, and I can imagine the immersion with the 34" curved ultrawide The upgrade to the Fanatec Club sport shifter and handbrake is a nice touch. I hadn't considered the rubber band mod for the shifter, but that's a clever tip for smoother gear changes during rallying-I'll definitely give it a shot. And thanks for the heads-up on DLSS mode! It's funny how sometimes the finer details like that can slip through the cracks. I'll make sure to enable it in my graphics settings; anything to enhance the visual experience is a win in my book. Your plans for a Direct Drive wheel and Huesinkveld pedals sound like the dream setup. It's inspiring to see the progression of fellow racers, and I'm eager to share the journey. Feel free to drop more tips and recommendations anytime. Let's keep pushing the limits on the virtual track!
Yes, don't cut means don't cut the corner. Usually, this designation is used to help the driver avoid some sort of hazard; boulders, ditches, trees, etc.
Hey! Don't forget to change your FFB settings. With G920/G29 you want to put wheel friction almost at 0. 5% tops as the wheels has enough friction by itself. Another thing great for begginer is to just lock the wheel tp 540 degrees in software. Messing around with full lock is not trivial Oh, and you don't want to use handbrake on tarmac apart from acute hairpins. You want to drive almost like on track
Welcome and looking forward to seeing you on track. Rory is great for gt7, acc, and forza for teaching you. His list in descriptions is a very good set up. Cant go wrong with any of the equipment he has. Save your money and get a good set up is my advice. You wont regret having better equipment. Good luck and see ya out there
7:55 the handbrake action at the start. Deadzone fix. I just def wouldn't play @4K with a 3050. Hopefully its not 60hz. I have an old Fanatec with clubsport pedals but the drivers and wires are outdated. So i kinda downgraded to Logitech as a temporary and it's working just fine. One thing the Fanatec had was both a sequential shifter and H-shifter. I DEF recommend Sequential for rally. It's painful to watch people clutch H-pattern modern rally cars. For older cars and muscle car racing, YES , H-pattern is more authentic. But things like modern Ferrari or Lambo, paddle shifters would be more authentic.
As of January 2024, I would stay away from Fanatec due to their customer service and Black Friday glitch. Seems like most youtuber sim races are moving to Moza Racing stuff. They seen to span a great price range from unicorn $400 R3 to $1000 for the R21 DD without pedals. The R3 would be the new budget starting point if they can actually make them but I wonder with a price drop on the R5, if that is the new starting point for MR. Somehow I think any new racing sim youtuber should start with the Logitech G29/G923 so whenever you upgrade, you have a baseline to compare with.
Honestly, with most modern race cars using paddle shifters, I wouldn't buy the manual shifter but opt for the handbrake instead, especially if you rally a lot.
Hey man, I have almost the exact same setup, good for a mid tier setup, I was wondering since I'm having some issues myselft, how did you install the handbrake together with the shifter?, did you use the original stand from the NLR Lite chair or did you buy a universal stand?
The fanatec DD bundle for $400 is a steal. I would have gotten that for starters since it's not that much more than the logitech and so much better. If not too late to return I'd return that G920. If it is, that may be a good first upgrade.
I have same steering wheel set , tearing down the brake pedal and cutting 2mm slice off from the rubber thing, makes logitechs brake lot better IMO.. I also have OMP wheel with adapter on, also I have modified my shifter to work as sequential with rubberbands.. I will buy better wheel eventually but not in a hurry since this setup works great
I've also got the Same wheel and pedals, no shifter yet, but use the flappy for now. I've been having issues with the brake pedal being that stiff, it's moving the pedal set even on carpet. Might try this technique
I can recommend Richard burns rally to you Its the most realistic rally sim to this day and has the best forced feedback i felt with a budget wheel like yours. It has outdatet graphics and is harder than wrc but its free so maybe give it a try
Thanks for the tip! I'll check out Richard Burns Rally since you say it's the most realistic rally sim. Good to know it works well with a budget wheel like mine. Even if the graphics are old, I'm cool with that. Free is always a win! I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. Appreciate the recommendation!
Pc should be fine for all your racing needs, but I suspect you are eventualy going to need more storage than 500g because all the new big racing games take up storage very fast. Good luck and have fun progressing in both driving and content creation :)
gd start up buddy i have the gt omega titan its sturdy enough for a direct drive wheel ul have no flex well worth the cash my guy gt lite not sturdy enough apparently u can buy add ons to try shore it up abit welcome to sim racing buddy
12600kf K- processor that can be overclocked F- no integrated GPU 16Gb of ram can be fine for some time, the recommended system specs of your game will give you an idea if upgrading would be needed. RTX 3050 - this your weak spot. 500gb ssd is fine. Storage can be upgraded unlike the Macs
everything is good brother But rtx3050 isnt a Good choice Sure You can Change when ever You want Great content . I also Do same type content Cheers ...
the pc could be better. the wheel and gt lite are honestly more valuable. for the hard rights, try scan flick rather than handbrake. Your car's horsepower is very low for that kind of driving.
Bro get rid of all the fluff and focus on learning the game learn how to drive the car then add the handbrake in once you get all that down then add the shifting start with the slow cars it sucks they are not as fun at first but as you learn to drive them they get better once you have a base skill set in place you can start going to faster cars your set up it self is fine bro most people start with basic set figure out if they like it then upgrade I am getting ready to start my own channel similar to this with product reviews and stuff and cover my transfer from ps5 to PC so best of luck feel free to reach out if you have a question or whatever I will gladly help you out with whatever I can also check out f1 23 as far as a game goes its awsome.
Get a t300. Thrustmaster has a ecosystem thats cheap and COMPATIBLE with non sim games. Its gamer oriented but respected amognst sim racers. Plus i learned on a t150 and now a t300 thats still a beginner somewhat cheap wheel.
You’re running a 1080p card (3050) on a 4k screen. You’re basically shooting yourself in the leg and trying to run a marathon at the same time. K vs KF just means whether your processor has integrated graphics. KF won’t have it, that’s why they sell for cheaper typically.
Truthfully when I started with my g920 I wore gloves cause my hands and arms hurt after racing so I wore gloves now I have a moza r12 and don't wear gloves.
The start of a journey, gradually upgrading and building your rig is the satisfying part. You're off to a great start.

everything is good brother
But rtx3050 isnt a Good choice
Sure You can Change when ever You want
Great content . I also Do same type content
Cheers ...
the pc could be better. the wheel and gt lite are honestly more valuable.
for the hard rights, try scan flick rather than handbrake. Your car's horsepower is very low for that kind of driving.
Thanks for the tips and watching and commenting! Really appreciate it!!
th-cam.com/users/shortsyqz288bWCmo just incase you don't know what a scan flick is@@SimulatedShift
Thanks for the tips brother!! Good luck on your channel too!!
🎧🤪🎮 🚗💨💨💨 Thank you so much for sharing ❤️˘◡˘❤️
Get a ps5 and Gt7, ive subed and will see how you progress!
Thanks for watching and commenting brother!! And subbing, really appreciate it!
You could have bought a moza r5,cammus c5 and had so much better gear. People will recommend fanatec but fuck them
Hello from Russia 🎉
I like your video
Let’s make it again
I wish you good luck
Thanks for watching brother!!
dont tell me ur racing with gloves on a logitech wheel
Haha I guess it is a little cheesy
I had gloves when I raced on a G29, cheesy as it might be, it felt very immersive, haha@@SimulatedShift
@@SimulatedShift nah the entire hobby is cheesy, we're all in this together dude
Lose the gloves seriously ...
Why? It's way more comfy and you wheel lasts longer
How can it possibly matter to you if he wears gloves or not?
Truthfully when I started with my g920 I wore gloves cause my hands and arms hurt after racing so I wore gloves now I have a moza r12 and don't wear gloves.
