Yeah the curse of being in a band right before they became one of the biggest bands ever. It is his claim to fame & I'm sure he still enjoys getting those checks from Bleach...A lot of people like the Chad version of Nirvana best.
Chad got a raw deal when it comes to the recognition aspect. He did all the drums on Bleach and was responsible for over half of the drum tracks on Nevermind. Thankfully, Dave Grohl brought this up at the R&R hall of fame induction. Dave just copied most of Chad's drums for that album. Dave is a more technically proficient/tighter drummer, but Channing had that underground style that Nirvana was always meant to have. I'm glad people still bring him up and he's gets some attention. Without Channing, Nirvana would have been very different.
I agree wholeheartedly dude. Listening to Bleach, you can hear Chad's drumming style. It's so powerful and tight, yet has that poppy feel that Kurt yearned for. I'd say the only thing David has over Chad is power but to be a good drummer, you need more than power. Technicality is key in my opinion with a dab of simplicity.
He's such a wholesome dude, the bleach album really inspired me to start a band it just filled my passion even more I was amazed at how raw the album was definitely my favorite Nirvana album and will continue to be.
Chad has such a unique swing to his playing. It really helped give Bleach its vibe. The drum sound Endino got is super cool, too. He did an amazing job for such little money.
After watching countless interviews and speaches, Dave Grohl has so much respect for this guy. Kurt made the decision to change drummers because Dave was more technically proficient. But Chad was a bad ass drummer. And Bleach is still one of my favourite Nirvana albums.
On the live album 'From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah', there's a 1989 live version of 'Polly' with more than the cymbals. Channing basically composed the drums for 'In Bloom', 'Breed', 'Lithium', 'Polly' and 'Stay Away'.
What I like about this guy is he didn’t say one bad thing about anyone in the band and expressed gratitude for just being a small part on Nirvanas success
Channing is a really kind and honest musician he could’ve easily insulted Cobain because Channing got kicked out and yet he has nothing but praises for his good old bandmate
