But I'm also curious, do you torque down flywheel bolts or do you cut that from the video, and if not then how come?

Hello, thanks for the video. Are you sure of your gearbox oil replacement procedure ? Because as you do, not all oil goes out, In VAG procedure you have to open another hole under the box and the refill is from the up (reverse contact sensor hole), not by the hole you used, also you have to turn and push a small lever (you can see it at 16:51) on top of the box . So many of the fasteners on VAG vehicles these days (according to the factory service manual) are one time use only. Is VAG just having us on to make more money selling parts? Clearly you do these sort of repairs in your sleep and reuse the hardware all the time without issue, no?

P/S - is that new flywheel cracked? is that what you was pointing at before sticking the clutch on
That’s the brand Sachs. You can’t mix and match parts on VAG engines. Either it’s Sachs or LUK as a set. .. I use MTF fully synthetic lubricant.., it’s not oil per say... 75w90 the ideal viscosity due to small quantity it takes.

Hi there had a release bearing falling to bits on previous clutch @ 22k fitted new clutch now have problem where it’s stiff to go in first gear especially when it’s cold I’ve replaced the gearbox fluid still no different can it be a faulty clutch kit (LUK Clutch)
Hi , i also replaced the new clutch on 2.0tdi same car and same problem in first gear , however the problem it s in the pump that actionate the clutch it is air inside and i don t make enough power to press on clutch properly , on this new models the pump it s connected with the break sistem and uses the same fluid , try to open the valve its under the air filter on top of the gear box , one press the clutch pedal and you try to open and close that valve , do so until fluid clear come out without foam and air , after that close that valve and after some days the shift problem goes away
Honestly your a amazingly skilled beast if there was a gearbox wrestling championship you'd smash it. Your my go to when I've got to do a clutch I'm not familiar with I can't thank you enough for sharing great information with videos. This video was 1h how long do you think it actually took you if I double that I'll have a idea of what it should take me 😉
good morning friend all right, but an excellent video, say something i have a mitsubishi colt gti 1,600 year 1990 the 4g61 engine has 200,000 kilometers with the same transmission line, has it changed in the same car that i have?
Hi Mr.Williams. I have a question for you. To disconnect the wires of the gears, it is neccessary put the neutral or block the gear shift ? And other related question, when you reconnect again, how can I know if the gearshift is well assembled? Thanks for your help and congratulations for your channel it is very useful. I like a lot and I follow a long time ago.
Hello, first of excellent video and fully detailed, keep the good work 💪 I have one question tho... I have the same A3 8V model like in the video, replaced recently everything on the gearbox (flywheel and clutch) and also replaced gerlarbox fluid, but now I have like a clinging noise when in neutral or while driving really slow. When I realy slightly press the clutch pedal the noise goes away... One thing I noticed when the mech replaced everything is he put some other gearbox fluid instead of 75w80/90 and only two bottels... Could it be because of the wrong fluid type and too litlle fluid? Thanks in advanced...
2L is the correct amount.. 75w90 should be the correct oil. What you’re describing I’d pretty much say it’s the gearbox shield touching the back of the flywheel.. it will cause a bit of a scraping noise. ..
Hmmm strange... When it comes to the fluid I am 100% sure he didn't put W80 or W90, and the noise it's almost like two coins rattleing. Slight press to the clutch (not full down) and it goes away... Thank you anyway for your time and resposne. Will try to change the fluid again but this time to put 75w90 Regards!
34:10 I wouldnt use red rubber grease here because it has a fairly low melting point. I would use ceramic grease which would be superior to red rubber in this application - very high melting point temperature. On the other hand red rubber grease is perfect for protecting any kind of rubber and it is not affecting brake fluid compatible rubbers as well.
Very true about the grease’s melting point... what I’m primarily trying to achieve is the decrease in bolt oxidisation between the threads... once the box mates with the engine block that bolt hole would now be sealed trapping the grease in between.., it won’t be hot enough to melt for love nor money ...
I replaced my clutch and flywheel and the car vibrates only when moving off or reversing. I used the clutch alignment tool and ensured everything sits correctly in place. What could be the issue ? Audi A3 2013 1.6 TDI Sachs clutch kit and flywheel fitted
Can’t thank you enough! Followed your instructions step by step to replace the clutch in my Golf 1.6tdi. It took me about 5 hours, but well worth it as it saved me €1000 from what the dealer quoted me.

But for change the clutch of Audi a3 8v sportback 2.0tdi 150cv 2017 manual with type of engine CRL is the same? Because gearbox is more big to 1.6 tdi
Honestly your a amazingly skilled beast if there was a gearbox wrestling championship you'd smash it. Your my go to when I've got to do a clutch I'm not familiar with I can't thank you enough for sharing great information with videos. This video was 1h how long do you think it actually took you if I double that I'll have a idea of what it should take me 😉
Thanks for the feedback.. much appreciated
@@WMCS a guesstimate of your time please
good morning friend all right, but an excellent video, say something i have a mitsubishi colt gti 1,600 year 1990 the 4g61 engine has 200,000 kilometers with the same transmission line, has it changed in the same car that i have?
Difference would be in the chassis subframe and mount attachments.
@@WMCS thanks for the reply, greetings from portugal.
Not required. The gear linkages are set. So pop off
Top 👌👍
Super work bro
Hello, first of excellent video and fully detailed, keep the good work 💪
I have one question tho...
Will try to change the fluid again but this time to put 75w90
Regards!
Bravo veramente, l'unica pecca e che non utilizzi la chiave dinanometrica .
how much torque should be tightened to the flywheel?
hi Kevin could tell me what you use in the spray bottle as cleaner thanks
It’s brake cleaner mate. But any solvent will do.
@@WMCS thanks

I wouldnt use red rubber grease here because it has a fairly low melting point.
@@WMCS
I wouldnt be concerned about threads but the spline and the arm support point.
Seems ceramic grease could be used almost everywhere
Bravo
Will be when audi a4 b6 / b7 with 1.9 manual ?
very good!!!!!
I replaced my clutch and flywheel and the car vibrates only when moving off or reversing. I used the clutch alignment tool and ensured everything sits correctly in place. What could be the issue ? Audi A3 2013 1.6 TDI Sachs clutch kit and flywheel fitted
Update, the gearbox mount was worn and was causing the vibration. I replaced it and now the car drives perfect.
Do you still fit clutches? Could I have a price please on a 64 plate Audi A3 2 litre manual?
Yes of course.
