Congrats on 300k subscribers. Well deserved. I appreciate how you are always thinking, asking questions and giving it to us straight. And you put in the work: Artic circle, 1000 Km challenge, range, noise, acceleration, headlights, banana box... I own a base MG4 with the LFP battery. Great handling and quick acceleration, comfortable, spacious for its size. I agree with your assessment. Driver aids need work. Interior is dark, no frills but functional. Great value for the money, and with the charging network improving, as much range as one really needs. The question becomes, how do you justify spending much more on a premium brand when the driving experience itself is usually inferior to that of the MG4?
One point: These cars are manufactured in China. Manufacturing in Europe is essential for our future society and wealth development. Of course a Chinese car is cheaper. Would a European worker accept a payment of 500 EUR/monthy? Maybe in Romania. Buying a car Made in Europe (or at least Made in a Democracy) ist the price we have to pay for our joint living standard and our democracy. Otherwise we source everything out to China and India - and we do not have any manufacturing base in Europe. That would lead to mass unemployment and the rise of populist parties. For me, a Made in China is so far out of sight and as a democrat it is not understandable to buy such a product. Made in a dictatorship by a state owned compay, that supports Putins war against Europe.
@@dirkmeng9894 so you do not own, a computer, smartphone, clothes, shoes, microwave oven, home appliances.... The direct amount of labor in a Tesla is 10 hours. Great video, I'm a few months into ownership of my first EV, an MG4, and I'm loving it. Not a perfect car, but effortless as you say. Would love to visit Norway as it looks amazing.
The High Power Charging Network in Norway is awesome by now. I had no Problems driving from South-West Germany all the way to north cape these past 2 weeks.
Oh wow. I remember in my 2016 Nordkapp trip the day I arrived at the artic circle centre. It was September, when I left England it was a glorious summer and when I got to the Arctic circle centre it felt like I'd driven to November. It was gale force wind and rain and it was existentially terrifying to think I was only at the halfway point of the trip. God I miss Norway. I haven't been watching the videos as much the last few years as I don't have time for YT that much and I don't have an EV but I remember watching your road trips like 8 or 9 years ago when you and Wifey had just got married. Seems like another life time.
Thank you for the two videos. It was a very informative ,fantastic scenery. I'm glad you enjoyed the MG4. I also have an MG4 Trophy, which I enjoy driving. Just need some sensible updates. Once again, thanks for all your videos.
Great that Bjørn gave my MG 4 his seal of approval 😜its a amazing car, i did 5200 kilometers with it now, its the best driving car i ever owned. I had a Zoe Q210 and ZE 50 before the MG, but the MG 4 is a whole new dimension of a car. My tip for MG pilot setting Bjørn: leave lane assist on, dont use TJA, but ACC. The autosteeer in TJA rocks in traffic jams, but not with normal driving. The reason it slows (to much) down in curves: the radar beam only looks in a small cone in front of the car, and in curves MG decided that it safer to slow down. My MG 4 charges up to 141 kW, can be that the charging software is different then mine, my AC screen is way different, smaller, more Tesla like. Was hoping that you had a MG4 with one pedal driving, that should be coming, but your test car doesnt have it (yet).
@bjornnyland congrats on reaching 300k subscribers. Let's make a goal of reaching 1 million subscribers in the near future but unfortunately, gaining them has been a very slow ramp up. I would like you think some ideas to help you get some significantly more subs and more views.
You nailed it again, Bjørn. Fantastic review, Being a proud owner of this car for half a year now (Luxury but in gangsta black), I agree with everything you say. The lane keep assistant is mental. And I would love to get the infotainment update you have. But I love the car, the best car I have ever owned. Here is my request to you, please make a video where you explain how to set up the Car Scanner app to display the important info in a grid layout. I have the software and the hardware (OBD plug) but I can't get it to display the important stuff. Thanks in advance.
Ooooooooo excellent footage for 4K library! However, the footage is better in luxury and premium cars, since the footage doesn't bounce around as much. The footage enjoys the luxurious and premium rides.
Its one of the main reasons i did not go for an MG4. The ACC is terrible. Beyond that, i guess its a great car for its value, but personally i did prefer the interior and ride quality in a Kia Niro EV. The ACC is not perfect, but its pretty close. Auto steer is pretty decent on bigger roads, i use it for longer trips on freeways. Best thing about the MG4 really, is the charging speed and that the port is same place as Tesla, as their network is by far the best and cheapest (without subscriptions).
I’m going to have to return and do another North Cape road trip next year but do I bring my own car and drive the length of north Europe as well as all of Norway or do I rent like I did last year, when I booked an ID3 from Hertz Bergen Airport but they substituted a Toyota Corolla “self charging “ wagon at the last minute and I became a Toyota driver for a month so had an excuse to drive slowly and enjoy the views!
Going other places in Norway is a great idea! Fv51 and Fv17 are awesome driving roads with awesome HPC availability. I live in ørnes where Tesla is just finishing an 8 stall V3, making fv17 a piece of cake. How about that one for the stuff you are fetching in Bodø?
Bjorn, I have been following you since 2011.. it is freaking 12 years man! Those heavy duty suction cup mounts looks dangerous to me. Does onboard safety regulations in Norway say anything about using them while driving?
The different feels of adaptive cruise control is interesting. My Volvo V90 T8 feels like it is always pulling itself forward but my VW ID.3 feels like it’s always breaking.
A question Björn. Going to order a model 3. Does you referal code work if I live in Sweden? Its thanks to you I wanna buy it so if anyone deserves a referal boost its you. Thanks in advance!
Is there camping mode / utility mode in this car? I am really thinking of buying one, but that is one of the feature whichc i want from this car! Would love to know if u have info on this!
Bjorn, you're at home and every EV you've ever reviewed is parked in a row outside, and you have a key for each of them. You want to go for a drive. Which key are you going to reach for?
23:30 Green+red or yellow+blue, up to achromatopsia, are bad choices anyway. They should have thought of something else. E.g. Available = light on, charging = blinking, kaputt = no light 😢
Do you really think 150-ish is low consumption for such a small car? I recently drove my Ioniq 1500 km on the same roads and endend up with 106 average. Mostly going speedlimit or 10 above.
Most EVs will use 1-2%/hour for a cabin heating, meaning you’ll get between 30 and 15 hours of heat from 30% battery. Bjørn has tested this multiple times, including sleeping in -25C with the heat on. How long will your ICE car idle on 1/3 tank ? Here’s a hint; an energy efficient ICE car will consume around 0.2 gallon/hour (just under 1 liter), and a big V6 will consume around 0.5 gallon/hour (around 3 liters/hour). So to idle for 15 hours on 1/3 of a tank, you’d need a 45 to 100 liter tank. Realistically, most ICE cars have a 45-60 liter tank, so assuming the big tank, you’d get between 13.5 and 18 hours of idling.
@@JimmySelgenNielsen a modern 4L petrol car typically uses 1L per hr @ idling, in neutral with the AC compressor off. Mine does. Has a 60L tank. This, 1/3 rd tank, or 20L will last 20hrs idling.
