Imagine stepping out of a metro station in Bengaluru and hopping onto a feeder bus that drops you at your doorstep? Sounds surreal, right?
But how many of you know that the BMTC already operates metro feeder bus service across Bengaluru?
DH travels across the city to get a first hand experience.
Watch the video to find out more.

Metro Feeder Busses: It has not been good at all for so many reasons.

There are no Scheduled Busses available as well as there are no timing boards as well.
BMTC Driver does not stop busses near Bus stop. They Stop busses in Mid of the ROAD. Commuter has to walk to the mid of the road.

It will be nice if BMTC procures a few smaller busses (School Bus size) and runs them a feeder with higher frequency. They can also go more inwards and can be in 1-2 km reach.

If you observe closely, once the metro is completed in an area, the government gives permissions to build high rises and commercial buildings close to metro, which in-turn increases traffic (again), in-turn choking metro. So Bangalore will become unsustainable in the long run. Simple solution would be companies should give WFH for applicable jobs. Other jobs goers should consider it an occupational hazard as the government is not providing any alternative. At least that is where I see Bangalore heading.

Bangalore is just a village with random buildings scattered here and there. Infrastructure is non existent. Those things that would have been completed 10 years earlier are now being started and don’t know how much time it will take. Narrow roads between villages to come to your offices is the main culprit for jams. They built tech parks in villages without clearing them.

Atleast Mumbai metro has this covered and doesn't just dump the passengers on the road to fend for themselves. This js one area Bengaluru metro needs to improve on

BMTC has to increase the number of bus operating in the city especially during peak hours, me myself i want to switch to public transport but looking at crowd it's really hard to take that step, given the amount of people entering bangalore i wish the govt improves and increases public transport rather than having overcrowded buses in the city, we need to encourage more an more people to stop using private vehicles and use metro and city buses however this seems to be a distant dream ....

There is no solution other than building more expressways and connecting roads where BRTS can run as well. Also, overall, the public infrastructure is terrible. Look at the dirt, sand and poor street assets. This is not what a hi-tech city should be like. Also, pretty stupid to have metro above ground in a congested city like Bengaluru. The metro should have been underground and overground roads should have been expanded with dedicated BRTS etc. The whole transport planning has been terribly done.

I stay in Sonnenahalli which is like 4kms from Whitefield station. The feeder bus currently runs only in straight line and not accessible to our areas. I need to get down at belthur and walk 2.5kms to reach home or take auto. There is one bus that runs on from our area to metro but not in the reverse direction. Autos charge us 100 atleast till metro. There is no parking in the station which removes our option to use our own vehicle.
It's more economical for us travel by own vehicle than to travel by metro currently 😅.

I mean to reach your destination you dont need a dedicated "metro feeder service" Jalahalli and Kengeri has excellent regular service and in the video itself you see so many busses. Another example is Indiranagar, the regular service itself is excellent, I dont know why you would need to differentiate on the basis of nothing except the bus number, not even the route.

There should be good balance between public and private transports to make it efficient. it is not practical to depend on public transport all the time . Those who live near to main transport lines it is useful , for others it is worst idea. We can see this trend in many developed countries as well. in US only 5 % people use public transport as a medium of travel. They create efficient highway systems and planned roads. After creating narrow roads, bad roads forcing people to use only public transport wont succeed

Why is no one talking about bicycling and bicycle parking infrastructure?? Instead of feeder buses a classic use-case for bicycling infrastructure is screaming out at anyone who can see the situation!! Un-utilized paved space around Metro stations can be used for bicycle parking. Cycle parking licenses can be given out by the municipality to below-poverty-line applicants to set up manned bicycle parking infrastructure outside each station. Cycling lanes can be built by literally taking over lanes dedicated for Cars and Trucks - one lane out of two or 3 lanes could be allocated to provide safe/separated bicycle lanes. The tragedy of Bengaluru is that its Municipality is run by people who have migrated from rural hinterland and lack any vision because to them, the city is a huge step-up from their villages.

Cycling is such a hassle, the only time I'd say cycling is reasonable is when the distance is about 2-3kms. Noone would want to cycle in the Bangalore heat especially with the awesome BMTC service. Besides cycling infrastructure is already being built in Garudacharpalya, and other zones.

    • @gopinathgiridhar
      @gopinathgiridhar 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@aryangupta6186 well, if the infrastructure is built, it wouldn't be a hassle. For the infrastructure to be built, you need to have people who realize the impact of great bicycling infrastructure. The biggest hassle really, is people who don't know any better...

This is a flop show: Metro Feeder Buses needs to painted differently, cosmopolitian language printed apart from English & Kannada.
Moreover IT BT companies need dowry cars and mobile booking services cabs service. Door step services. They all are born Kings and Queens descendants since 8000 years. :)

Sharing auto rickshaws is the need of the hour. As it can help them get passengers, can reach quickly as well as affordable. Buses will occupy more space in the already narrow congested streets. So many cities have sharing auto rickshaw concepts and people use it a lot.

Plz Connect the Baiyappanahalli metro and KR Puram metro without Tin Factory Station. We can wait Tin Factory Station later to open till it completed .
Metro Feeder Busses: It has not been good at all for so many reasons.
Govt is not serious to help people. Worst Connectivity of Feeder busses.
There are no Scheduled Busses available as well as there are no timing boards as well.
BMTC Driver does not stop busses near Bus stop. They Stop busses in Mid of the ROAD. Commuter has to walk to the mid of the road.
Conductors are rude and not humble and supportive .
Completely bogus by Govt and BMTC Team .
None is interested to improve and none takes feed back of people.
