It has to be addressed in multiple aspects. 1. Maintain uniform width on roads 2. Free up foot paths and ensure uniform and consistent foot paths 3. Start building tiered roads 4. Divert heavy traffic through STRR 5. Make hybrid working model for all MNCs mandatory 6. Adjust school timings 7. No more construction permissions until civic issues are fixed

The only solution to this problem is having a robust public transport. No other solution can solve this problem.

    • @toshiklangade
      @toshiklangade ปีที่แล้ว +9

I don't think many people will want to use public transport. People are lazy (including me) and don't want to walk to bus stand, wait for the bus, and after deboarding they have to walk again to their office. Most are earning enough to buy their own vehicle.
People who are commuting alone with their cars are a major part of the problem. Carpooling apps like QuickRide are helping a lot on this. But government should intervene too. The government should partner with QuickRide and offer toll tax reliefs or something for people who carpool regularly.

    • @toshiklangade
      @toshiklangade ปีที่แล้ว +1

The govt should also work on a innovative public transport system. We should be able to book buses, similar to redbus, and pickup and drop points should be customizable. This will lead to more halts but still it will be faster as traffic will be less.

But from my experience in that stretch, it is mostly these interstate double decker buses that occupy massive road space, coupled with the second metro line in the KR PURAM stretch which is still under construction that is causing so much traffic. Other than that, I am really glad that the metro line is being extensively used, because guess what if those using the metro lines start using the roads, there is going to be even more traffic.

Bengaluru, with it's pleasant weather compared to other metros, has the potential to bethe most walkable/bikeable city in the country. And to promote NMTS, public transport, not meager but substantial as a backbone is mandatory.

There are multiple solutions to it.
    - Govt to prioritize and create good metro network and feeder buses.
    - First impose toll fee in peak hours those who want to take personal vehicle to busy areas like outer ring road etc. It helps to force people to avail mass transportation options like Office buses, BMTC, Metro etc.
    - Have schools and colleges start early and finish early so that School buses and Offices buses won't come on roads at the same time.
    - Mandate or Encourage car pooling.
    - Have SEZs in different places of the city. So that companies can distribute their branches across the city and people will have to travel to different places most probably to the nearest places. This will decongest the traffic and remove hotspots.
    - Encourage companies to operate permanenly in hybrid model. So that only 50% of the workforce will come to office at a time. Remaining days they will operate from home.
    - Widen the roads and fix the pathholes and priority.

Never going to happen. The biggest beneficiaries due to problems in Bengaluru are the politicians themselves. They own a lot of real estate in bangalore. Overcrowding in the city will drive up demand for rentals hence it’s an easy way for them to extort money from the migrant population.

@@sharankumar4396 Yes, Bangalore is congested beyond what it can handle. With this level of overcrowding even public transport can’t help mitigate the situation here.
I m not sure if people who keep suggesting public transport as an alternative have seen the rush hour crowding in these systems. Even metro trains are running at full capacity. During rush hours getting into buses and metro itself is a tedious task. Combined with the fact that pedestrian facilities are terrible to non existent in most places outside the old city area. The new developments in the last 20 years have completely ignored pedestrian infrastructure, this makes last mile connectivity cumbersome because of which people will automatically prefer having their own vehicles.
The metro work is so delayed that, the city has outgrown its planned capacity from 20 years ago.

I think we can see tangible changes by having zero tolerance on wrong way commuters !
Apart from it, The Joint commissioner has identified 6-7 areas among those, we need to identify how much of public works are being carried out in those 7 heat zones and make the necessary changes or expedite the construction with double the work force at nights to complete!
Has the traffic department identified how many bus stops are within 50 to 100 meters of a signal? By just rationalising stops, meaning moving them away by atleast 500 meters from junctions would give a breathing space at junctions, this alone can make a huge difference at bottlenecks ! And further the busses has to stop at the stop if not closer to the stop, it’s quintessential to have bus lane 500mtr before and after the stop.
What about slow moving vehicles? Isn’t it time for lethargic drivers to be taught to drive at minimum speed ? Those crucial few seconds at the beginning of a signal for such people to start the engine and lethargically move would cost two or more signals !
Most importantly the quality of the road which are full of potholes in these heat zones of traffic! While other countries are planning to colonise other planets, it’s a shame that our country men are busy siphoning tax payers money earmarked for roads.. can’t we setup a social audit for BBMP on projects and can’t these projects be made public? Why can’t every rupee on the public works be made public ?
There are many things which can be done if there is genuine interests involved and if transparency is bought in apart from encouraging public transport by giving a robust public transport system!

      2. PVN Rao and Mr. Singh never did more investment on ISRO as much as needed.
We people knows it very well.
Even Nambi Narayanan told this . The PVN RAO did worked against Nambi Narayanan and forced to fraud court cases illegal businesses.
      2. Even Abdul Kalam told us, we Indians need to enhance knowledge and need to do Reforms in educational systems n educational curriculum.
Most of time Kalam was focused on education n knowledge whereas Mr. Singh neverever focused as Kalam does.
But Singh didn't respect the most renowned n most loved President Dr. APJ ABDUL KALAM.
Being the most Educated, Mr. Singh was not interested on any kind of Reforms.
Reforms are more important than money minded monsters businesses, which most genuinely educated people do.
Questions to Mr. SINGH is: Was he genuinely educated person who gives IMPORTANCE to educational values or money minded business.
Example is Mr. Singh and his bosses like Sonia and Rajiv Gandhi and USA n UK bosses and other nationals bosses.
      Questions raised:
HOW MANY MORE HIDDEN MASTERMIND CONSPIRACIES EXECUTED by Dr. Singh

First let them give proper street light even tier 3 cities has much better street lights. 2nd give proper roads with marking of lane and zebra crossing. 3 give proper footpaths for pedestrians. 4th get all the agencies like under one roof. 4th privatise BESCOM and make all the wire heads underground and list goes on. Once you have all this then you think about what can be done next.

The only way to reduce traffic is to create viable alternatives to driving.
Increasing parking facilities and adding flyovers would only provide short term relief, but would quickly become a much bigger traffic nightmare due to induced demand for more cars.
We should reduce (and eventually, end) car dependency by:
    1) Significantly increasing mass public transit such as buses (Bengaluru has very few buses compared to its population)
    2) Dedicated bus lanes
    3) A ban on street parking of cars
    4) Metro rail (which is in progress, but extremely slowly)
    5) Cycling lanes (which are a great option for travel within 6-8 km without luggage, which can substitute a large chunk of the daily urban commute now being done by cars)
    6) Trams! Most cities in Europe have them; they are not merely a delight to travel in, but also extremely effective in covering short to moderate commutes.
All of these would also make the driving experience for people still using cars a lot better.
In the long term, we should:
    1) Decentralize workspaces and residential areas and develop more mixed neighbourhoods with a mix of office and residential spaces so that lots of people aren't commuting towards large choke points
    2) Develop great satellite cities about 50-200 km away that attract development and jobs away from Bengaluru (Hosur and Mysuru, for instance).

Metro and BMTC AC bus frequency should be increased.
All Offices/Schools/Colleges should be mandated to provide free Cab/School/College bus services.
All office spaces should be mandated to charge high Parking fee for 4 wheelers, which will reduce single person travelling to work in 4 wheelers.

    2. Fix the footpaths so that people don't walk on the road and slow down traffic
    3. Increase the ORR metro construction speed
    4. Use AI cameras to capture traffic violations and fine people according to their incomes, which European countries like Norway are already doing, if you are over-speeding the fine is 10% of your annual income. Give body cams to Police officers so that people can't bribe their way out
    5. Take strict action against people who park on the service road

2.) An auction must be put up. Whoevery wins the car permit should be allowed to ply inside the city freely. Others must pay entry/exit/congestion tax on peak hours.

      4. Bengaluru has HIGHEST no of "One way roads" in India.
      Is this development n growth.
      5. Bengaluru Roads infrastructure has very less Bridges n Cross road Bridges. There are very less rail over Bridges.
      6. Bengaluru Roads infrastructure has manifested isolated area. Road connectivity is very less and lack of interconnectivity of roads to ring road.
      6. Bengaluru has More than 80 percent Roads are full of Pot holes or mud road and worst of worst slum road evertwhere.
      7. Bengaluru doesn't have Comprehensive Road Infrastructure Developments
Since many Decades , CONGRESS has dominated to do Corruptions.
They are most experienced in doing all kinds of family business.
These teams control MORETHAN 50 percent of BBMP n BDA n Govt OFFICES.

Each companies should put a hefty fee for those who needs to park their vehicle in their premises. Allow bicycles to park free. For eg. If a couple has 2 cars and work for 2 different companies and they charge 15k per month for each car for parking, which would cost them 30k per month for that family. This might encourage people to use public or alternate transport.

    Yes, this can be resolved,
    1. All main road in Bengaluru to have dividers and each side there should be atleast 40ft road.
    2. All bus stops should have a layby so that BMTC buses dont stop in the middle of road and also avoid taking turns.
    3. All Bus stops that are closer to traffic signal to be shifted atleast 100mtr away,
    4. Bus lane to be a dedicated line again,
    5. All outstation travel bus stops should be provided a dedicated layby zones, for eg: Madiwala, Tin Factory, KR puram, E-city, Tumkur road, Silkboard, causing more traffic blocks, even if the roads are empty from 9pm to 11pm,
    6. All flyovers interconnections should have proper closure and smooth, people drive slow on ORR flyover to avoid causing damage to vehicles.
    7. All vehicles using High beam should be seriously penalized.
    8. Any vehicles using footpath to avoid signal jam should be heavily penalized and arrested with attempt to murder case , because they are a real threat to pedestrian
    9. Any shopkeepers using advertisement boards or extending on top of footpath or throwing waste or water should be penalized and arrested for min 2 days and show them some education videos inside jail to keep clean.
    10. Specially all roads should be having a safe drive certification which should be issued from a dedicated body, this will make roads safer and the contractors to work on quality.
    11. No pot holes to be repaired, but instead a 10ft ful patch road to be constructed.
    12. Steer lights and warning marks are must on main roads.
    13. All traffic signal to have number counts to avoid people horning unnecessary.
    14. BBMP to construct Parking buildings and make some money too, this is a good idea avoid problems with parking.
there are many more we can make it, unless we have joint meeting on open public forum

Govt can fix the roads, public transport, last mile connectivity by providing parking space near public transport transit points.
