  • I took a test ride yesterday on the Himalayan 450. Ive paid my deposit and hopefully will be collecting soon. This was an important video for me as i had a decision to make - to collect or cancel my order. Please watch till the end to see what happens...
    I hope this helps those considering and gives more information on the final UK model set up.
    A special thanks to BOB MINION motorcycle dealer for Royal Enfield in Derby for the test ride and thier support.

    I own one completed 1750kms. It can easily do 120kmph(75mph, more than legal motorway speed in UK?) all day long. It gets smoother as you cross 130kph and can do 150kph without much effort. Post that it will take some time to catch speed but over 160kph is possible (100mph). So I don’t think motorways will be a problem. The stock super meteor 650 will be a better highway machine, but then the moment you go to broken roads it struggles because of its much stiffer suspension with much lower travel. The other two 650s have a sub par suspension set up and will not be stable at motorway speeds, the engine can hit those speeds but the bike will not be able to keep up.

    That bike is really cool! Here in Brazil we still have the 411 which got some real nice new colours for 2024. The 450 will probably take some time to arrive here. Royal Enfield launched the Super Meteor 650 this week, though, which is a boke thats around in the world for some time. Great video!

      It's definitely got more go than the 411, I've tried an acceleration from rest and quite surprised me! The rear seat sits just above the riders seat and acts like a back stop. Kept me in place. I enjoyed the review, nice to see it being ridden in an urban environment rather than all the marketing led reviews I've seen! I'm considering one of these, i don't need it to go on trails just commuting (urban) and country lanes with the odd trip along dual carriageway. I normally like streetfighter style naked bikes but the state of our roads is appalling and i feel like something like this would be a good place to start. The lean angle on the side stand is quite alarming but may actually benefit me being only 5ft7 and 30 inside leg. Again, nice review and a sensible test ride.

      Thank you for watching Billy, really appreciate it. I should have spoken about it but after 2 back injuries over the past years my Transalp Is just too heavy for me. My bullet is a show bike and a forever bike for me so I'm precious about it. This new one I think can do a bit of everything and I'm planning on having a month in Spain travelling around making a secret series I'm not supposed to talk about yet 😇🤫🤫 but I think it will do me good! Not crazy expensive that if anything happens it's the end of the world but capable enough of a partner to get through most things. Agree with you on the state of roads ATM! 😊👍👍 Take care and stay safe 🙏

    A wonderful video Quinn. Enjoyed it. How long did you ride it? What can you say about the vibes? If I would have to pick one, I would go for exactly this color. Which color you ordered? Did you go for the tubeless model? Thanks for the answers. Cheers and ride safe.

    • @quinnpeaksbiker
      @quinnpeaksbiker  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hi Gregor! Thank you for watching! The vibes here quite strong at 6k rpm, after 7 it reduces. Before there are spots where there is nothing. So at 30mph in 4th, 40mph in 4th at 50 in 5th, it's finding the right gear combination. The engine sounds like there should be vibrations but there are none to little in the seat, foot pegs or handlebars. I have carpel tunnel so I was quite concerned about it. But the ride by wire does not keep tension in the handle so that strong pull is not there all the time making it quite comfortable and easier than the Transalp. I rode it for 3 hours and did 60 miles. I only used 1/3 if the footage I had and might release another video with the rest of the riding soon. I ordered the white as I asked for TUBELESS. Tubeless is only available in black rims. The black and gold model I was riding was TUBED. Gold rims are TUBED only. That's the reason I went with the white as it looked better with black rims and I decided a more visible bike was better - also the black was marking very easily and the white was feeling a little more resistant. Thank you for asking, good things to clarify! Take care my friend 🙏😊🍦

    • @RRRRefuelRideRace
      @RRRRefuelRideRace หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@quinnpeaksbiker Aha, I see. Thanks a lot. I think that even those vibes that were present will be reduced after time, at last at some extent after the proper break-in. Oh, I read that some are with tubes. Ok, then the black rims are the only solution, but OK. If so, my pick would be the brown one. I think the brown one is also the cheapest among them. Yours has a bit higher price, but I am not sure how much. Thanks a lot bro. I plan to try it next week. :)

    It's quite sad that the vibrations that come on the bike are around the 70mph mark. Above and below those speeds is quite smooth.
    Also regarding offroading, I do think this one is a monster, but it can't chug like the old one. You can offroad the 450 at higher speeds than you potentially can on the 411

      @quinnpeaksbiker  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, thank you for watching. I took this on a trail through the peaks, it was quite fast. So perfect for open and clear trails, on the sharper more technical parts it was more work and a water crossing was interesting too. But it's a new bike and I'm getting used to it, Id imagine after a few months I'd have no issues. But for the limited experience I had I reported what I found, hopefully in the future it will be easier.

    My 411 has gotten me into some awkward spots and then got me out again - except when I tipped it wheels up on a steep dirt hill, needed help that time. You mentioned the wind protection but I didn't hear you say anything about the kind of airflow, any buffeting/turbulence etc..?The gear lever looks cheap and nasty, not even a folding tip. That's pretty poor from RE. I get that the bike is built to price point, but look at the functionality you get the CF Moto 450MT. Still, I like the look of the RE and seems to be a fun bike. I could imagine touring on one.

      Hi, thank you for watching. The airflo was clear and it wasn't bad in the helmet without earplugs in. With plugs for a longer run I'd imagine it quite comfortable. For the levers I found them comfortable as were compared to the bullet and Transalp as they were wider and my fingers fell into the wedge shape so they sat well. Sorry I didn't see more than that but I'd imagine lots of better aftermarket parts out soon. Perhaps an upgrade from re over time? Take care and ride safe 😊🙏

      Thank you for watching! There are quite a few reasons I'm getting this, it's specific to RE, the garage is less than a 15 min walk from work so servicing is easy, I have purchased a few bikes from this place so I've a good relationship there, I've got a good network so I get cheap parts from India (e.g. rear plate there is £20 not £90 as here), we are a RE family - everyone has always had a RE and my other bike is a bullet - I have Honda's too but my bullet I'm in perfect sync with so I'm biased towards RE. I've had a Chinese 125 and it was a disaster with my gear leaver falling off mid turn and then when trying to sell it a few weeks later only being offered 20%of what I paid for it. I'm never touching a chinese bike again, also my personal beliefs, free Tibet! Ktms are too frantic, I'm 45 and a slow plodder and the RE is comfortable and calmer to ride. Hope it outlines my thoughts. Take care mate😊👍

    A very good conclusion there Quinn.
    I think you got it spot on.
    Unfortunately I don’t think that it’s going to be the big mile muncher that many people hoped it would be, but for those with more of a road bias to their riding, this does constitute a significant upgrade to the 411.
    If off-road is what you predominantly do with your Himalayan, stick with the 411. If you mainly ride on faster roads and need more headroom, upgrade to the 452.
    If you want to tour Europe, both the 411 and 452 could do it but you’d probably be better off and have a better time with a larger bike with at least one more cylinder 👍
    It now seems inevitable to me that a 650 Himalayan will come. That would add genuine touring capability to this style of bike.
    Excellent conclusion, top job👍

I'm going to have a month solo in Spain this September travelling around and I think it's going to be ideal for that. But a tour that wants you to do 400 miles on the motorway keeping up with a fast group ain't my jazz and this ain't the bike to do that on comfortably.
