Item #: SCP-027
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The host of SCP-027 (currently subject 027-02) is to be kept in a 5 m x 5 m containment cell with a grated, raised floor connected to a strong vacuum system. All creatures removed from the Subject's containment cell are to be incinerated, except for a small portion to be diverted for analysis and necropsy. The cell is to be cleaned and inspected for structural damage daily.
Subject 027-02 must be monitored by at least two personnel at all times. Any unusual behavior or vital signs on the part of the subject or the appearance of any unusual species in the subject’s vicinity must immediately be reported to Level 4 personnel.

Another similar incident was recorded with an individual known as "Ants in my eyes" Johnson. The effect was solely based around members of the family Formicidae and their action of continuously being attracted to his eyeballs.
Subject presents a hazard to both himself and those around him. Containment procedures have been revised to hold him in a padded room with no flammable objects.

For an SCP like this, I would suggest we induce a comatose state, to remain as ethically clean as possible. This way the SCP does not move on to a new host (so long as he is taken care of), and the host does not feel the hell he is in.
why not move him to a really cold place? the vast majority of insects have almost no way of surviving belo 0ºc temperatures. and even those that are, are so specialized, that they cant live anywhere else.
so my advice would be exactly that. or space, he cant be found by insects, if he is so far away that they cant get to him.
We actually do not know if the scp transfers "on death".
It would very well transfer as soon as the Subject "no longer feels pain"
Marcos Danilo well other vermin like rats and cockroaches also are attracted to you and it seems like bugs attempt to get inside you and nest in your body. Also it is unknown if the anomaly transfers by other means other than death. What if it transfers when there is no possible way for vermin to reach you? That could be a disastrous situation.
A suit could be designed. One that was air tight, and a special pesticide could be made, his food would nead to be shrinck rap and the suit would nead sime kind of transfer unit.
Unlikely Suspect I think the point of calling him the “Vermin God” is that if their “god” disappears then they will find a new one. So keeping him alive and moving they can study him since they mentioned to report any new or unusual species
I have a Paranoid Schizoaffective disorder that shows itself with tactile hallucinations, usually as small bugs like ants and spiders, and let me tell you, it ain't fun. My meds usually take care of it, but hearing thw interview recording reminded me of how it was before I was prescribed my medication and I was having episodes.

@@eeyuup Even today treatment is pretty crude - it's arguably close to the same place where treatment of most other illnesses was in the early 19th century. It's impressive that we're able to treat at all, but people that actually just get completely better and can go back to functioning well in society so long as they take their meds (and are not completely disabled by those medications' side effects at the same time) are success stories, not the norm. I've known four people that developed full-blown schizophrenia (two were technically schizoaffective as they also suffered from periodic mood disorders) in the time I knew them, one of which used to be my best friend, another was my first serious girlfriend. Weirdly enough, the only one of those that's actually on the same general life path today that they were aiming for before they got sick is the one that's still unmedicated. The rest...one calls me every two months smashing his cellphone against the wall and screaming. One who used to be one of the smarter people I knew suffers severely enough from the negative symptoms that he's not really capable of any work more involved than selling pot today. One has never been close enough to asymptomatic (much less functional) to live unsupervised since he was 16.
It's awesome that we can help some fraction of sufferers at all, but what we have isn't that much better than the traditional approach of self-medicating with liquor and sedatives.

From what I gathered, I think you can have a doctorate and still be a researcher, but you can also be a researcher without a doctorate. I imagine doctors tend to try harder to promote out of the researcher pool than non-doctors, possibly due to having a higher level of motivation to begin with, or feeling like that work is "beneath" them.
Then there's the more dangerous SCPs. A Keter-class that requires a Level 4/XXXX clearance to be studied would be more likely to have doctors assigned as researchers than that a Safe, harmless doo-dad stored in the lost-and-found bin would be.

Lordy! I’m always sticking to the late Series skips, so I forgot how heebie jeebie things used to be back in the day!
SCP-106: early series keter. dangerous and hard to contain, but not a significant threat to the world.
SCP-682: mid-series keter. highly dangerous, potential significant threat to the world.
(Can't remember the number. The floating ICBM.): late series keter. Almost certain XK-class end of the world if not contained properly.
The earlier stuff plays with the big tropes and common fears, sometimes to great effect like here, sometimes cliche like the lizard.
Later on the site moved more towards different types of horror, survival (MTF and D class contests), fridge horror (me, the toaster), and eldritch horror (3000 and the other entries for the contest).
You also got meta stuff and lore and worldbuilding as time went on.
I love the more in-depth SCPs as they have more a buildup and intrigue, but as a result the early stuff is simple in comparison, but sometimes simple can be scary.
If only the host could find out a way to control the vermin so that they 1) wouldn't hurt him physically and 2) would take his commands (such as "move here" or "attack this"), then he could basically be the Philistine deity Beelzebub, which would be pretty badass.

Like Dr Jack Bright that's pretty much immortal, Dr Alto Clef that always got animal head replacing his head when photographed, or Iris the photographer who ended up becoming part of the MTF team

Wouldn't the most important question be where these rats and stuff come from? If they have him in secure containment that given the scps standards should be near air tight how do they get in? Do they just appear out of thin air or what?
Well, in the past (before we invented SCIENCE) there was the folk belief that pests like rats, cockroaches and maggots basically spawned out of filth. This skip might reference that.

An experiment I'd like to test (if possible) with this subject is clean him and place inside a personal sealed sphere. This test is to see if the vermin appear inside the sealed sphere of if they reside outside it. If they appear inside it then it means his ability is in someway keeping them drawn to him it could be that the vermin don't want to be near him but are being teleported back to him with no option. The second is a radius test, how close do these animals appear to him and will they chew through anything to get to him even if the area is airtight and practically impossible to enter.
I was thinking 'do these vermin eat each other? is there like a mini food web? this guy has to have a really interesting mini-ecosystem around him'
Cleaning him would be tricky. Addendums noted that the vermin will live inside of him. On top of that they are continuously spawning every time he idles in an area
If the vermin appear from thin air(either teleported from somewhere or actually created) this could have a plethora of applications. An endless (or almost endless) source of food. Practically limitless source of low-quality fuel/fur/fertiliser/fibers/dyes and whatever else you can use insects,arachnids and small mammals for. Sure, it's not the best but the sheer quantity of it and the fact it's free greatly compensate for the procedures needed to extract it. Use the vermin to feed other SCPs. The possibilities are incredible.
This might be my new favorite SCP. Super weird and specific but not “overpowered” or ruined by a cliche. This is the kind of shit I love to see, even if it does make my skin crawl
Thats the best aspect of scp. Allows for some truly unique gems of creativity to arise. Like any work of fiction theres plenty of shite. . . But every now and then something like this comes along and you cant help but praise both the creator and the wiki for being the foundation for this shit to grow.

The ranks on SCP sites are (low to high) D-Class, Level 1 (janitor, cooks, electricians, other menial labour), Level 2 (Junior researcher), Level 3 (senior researcher, security teams), Level 4 (Site director), Level 5 (O5s). I don't know the ranks in field agents and MTF teams though.

Not really. Imagine all vermin in an ecosystem suddenly disappear, it'd tear it apart. Rats, bugs, etc are an important food source for many other animals, and vice versa.

I love how the moment the doctor shows any empathy and intent to try and cure the officer, the Foundation has them reassigned somewhere else. They don't want to help him. They want to study him and that's it.
