Although Louisiana is prone to flooding from weather, "never been flooded" might refer to the engine flooding with fuel. It's a common rotary problem which makes them hard/impossible to hot restart. Usually happens when you shut them down before fully warming up.... It's often a sign of a tired engine, injectors or seals.

I once saw a Greek add for a E46 that claimed it was an M3, guy was asking something in the ~30 Grand EUR range for it.
Very adamant that all the modifications he put into it were worth it, lots of "track use"(in quotations per the ad), pictures of the engine....the 4 cylinder engine...probably diesel too.
I remember back when I was looking into first cars, I wanted a cool tuner, but my mom shot down all the cars I wanted to buy. Finally, I showed her an RX-8 and she loved it, but it was the only car my car enthusiast dad forbade me from driving. In retrospect, i thank him for not letting me get a rotary. He lived next to a rotary mechanic in the 80s, and the memories still haunt him to this day.

I think this one would actually be a good car for a restoration project or a base build for someone who knows Rx-7s because it is mostly intact and not hacked up. Not for 10k though. I cringe because I remember when you could buy running cars for 3k, but 2500 to 3k is a more realistic price.
The 240 guys bought these when they couldn’t afford a 240 and then broke them all because they couldn’t take care of a rotary, and finally decided to sell them with the 240 tax.

@Birdsofparadiselost Easy yes, but we have a registration tax that makes it crazy expensive, for just about anything under 30 years old you can add about 40-60% if what you paid originally for the car to register, and get it through customs and considering the options for importing are either the UK (which is now more difficult due to brexit) or Japan it ain't cheap and any cars we do have in country already are massively inflated, for a base model 318d in ireland you could buy a 335i in the uk/mainland Europe

I bought an N/A convertible S5. From what I see everyone hates them, but I have a vision. Plus, I got it for a steal. Specially now in 2024, I only paid 3k for mine running and everything. I’m doing a full restoration, big turbo, body kit (slim body), and getting a nice roll cage done so that it can look neat when I drop the top.

Back in 2020 I bought an 88 SE for 1500$. 10,000 miles on the engine, 60k on the chassis. 2 owner, bought it from an old man who took it from his son in the 90s. Just bought a clapped out GTUs for 2800. Learning a lot, but I wish there were more resources on TH-cam. Kinda hard to find stuff. Fun tho

Every one of those even the best ones are $1000 at best. Never mind the hundreds of hours of work and thousands of dollars it will take to get one moving under its own power again. After you have lost your girlfriend and been eating Ramen noodles for 2 years straight because it took all your money. Then the first time you bang through the gears on the street you find out you are taking it back apart to properly rebuild the engine. At which point it will end up back on Facebook market place because everyone is afraid to rebuild a rotory engine. Very esoteric. Only one completely unfucked with for learning purposes to rebuild would still cost you $5,000 at minimum by the time you got it running. Don't people realize you don't recuperate your investment on aftermarket parts even if you are selling a running finished product. Only buy a project car if you understand you can never sell it for anything close to what you have in it.
