Hey, thanks for the in-depth and thorough review! We are definitely collecting all feedback and try to make the product better in the next 1-2 months. The next build is already much better than the one reviewed.
Do you guys know if the built-in keymapper for android game supports inverted controls? (inverted right stick Y-axis) I'm used to playing that way and its a feature missing from the logitech g cloud.
Nice honest review. I have looked at the RP3+ but in the UK its more expensive than this kickstarter (which is nuts). Although I could see the 3+ finding its way into my pocket more frequently being smaller the Abxylute will be easily portable and handy to have laying the in the car for extended periods. No option of the Gcloud over here either. So I've thrown my option in with a Abxylute.... I think its probably a better purchase than the ill-fated AYN Loki mini I backed in June last year and still have zero expectation of it even arriving in 2023. For everything else there is my Steam Deck.
Rp3+ and the abxylute exist for 2 completely different reasons. They both excel in their area of expertise but are below average in each other's worlds.
Agreed, I am really hoping they can address the issues in the production unit. Competition is always a good and welcome thing and they are definitely passionate. Now, they just need to follow through and continue to listen to feedback.
I know! 😲 I actually saw it yesterday when I was browsing the website, which is a pretty frequent routine for me. I've been a long-time reader of Brad's website, a great resource!
The retroid pocket is such a beast. While the screen is smaller I think it should be a benchmark for streaming consoles. I am not sold on this. All it really has is digital triggers and a bigger screen. As far as functionality is concerned.
i have a question sir. Do you have to find these emulators? I have a Trimui Smart Pro and all the emulators were preloaded from the start. All the games work awesome. Only issue is i wish the screen was better than a 5 inch. This one is bigger. I was looking into getting this or the legion go. But don't want to have to buy games on steam deck or find these emulators that won't work. vid is awesome
Great info video on your end. Onto the handheld itself. No video out, this is the third device I seen without video out. I hope this isn't a dawn of a new trend, video out isn't a huge plus for me. It is a feature I have grown to love. The whole tear down did scream JXD to me with the whole outer plate and over the top screws. the bench marks, I was like WOW ( not in a good way ) the price they are asking and fall so short behind something like RP3+. Sure the screen looks good, but not at the cost of lower performance. Like what you said emulation is a huge deal with android handhelds, there is a lot more to emulation other than emulating lower end games.
It's basically a G Cloud Lite. For its price and purpose, it should have been at least 4G capable. It's ok, that it's underpowered. But, it's a bit gimped. You da man RTD😎
My knowledge on cloud gaming is very limited so excuse me for the noob question. Are you able to download a game to it to play without having to stream if that makes sense? Been looking at these for a while now and pretty much ready to pull the trigger.
No, unfortunately you cannot. For example, if you're trying to stream an Xbox Game Pass game, you will only be able to stream it from your Xbox, PC, or from the Cloud. The games cannot be downloaded onto the handheld for offline play, which is why it's nice having the ability to play some emulation and Android games.
Hey I know I’m commenting a year later but I believe this console is a better option for me, I’m from Australia and we don’t have any G clouds for sale here. I managed to find an Abxylute for $130 USD second hand on eBay which has only been used for a couple months. Brand new it would cost me $200 USD which isn’t the amount of money I want to risk paying on this device so I’m comfortable with $130 USD. I can’t wait for it to arrive.
I must say that the decoding latency on moonlight its a little high on both if compared to a shield tv. Thats a pitty, that device can do 4k decode at less than 1ms but I guess im just spoiled. But I was expectinga a little bit more to compensate the extra wifi latency.
@DeathXG If we're solely going to judge things based solely on something a few generation old android cellphone can do with a kishi, I think most people would agree this system is vastly over priced cuz it doesn't take much if anything to stream.
Does anyone know if the built-in keymapper for android game supports inverted controls? (inverted right stick Y-axis) I'm used to playing that way and its a feature missing from the logitech g cloud.
Hmm. Abxylute is 240 €, G Cloud is 350 €. Which makes the latter almost as expensive as the cheapest Steam Deck at 400 €. That sadly is very heavy in comparison and requires active cooling, but is a much more capable device altogether. I'd love to see a similarly sized android handheld running Snapdragon 7+ gen 2 / 8 gen 1 (or 2 even, one can dream) at a sub-500-€ price. That would give most of us all the performance we want.
7" screen. I don't care about the dedicated processor inside, the only use case for me is streaming. I can emulate everything I want 60fps 1080p on my PC and stream it to the handheld. The only important factors for me are the screen, the ergonomics, the controls and the audio.
My only beef with your review is that your host pc isn't running the content at at least 60fps so it's providing some inconsistent streaming frame rates. Other than that, thank you for all the great information!
The game itself is definitely running at 60fps on the host PC. I think this is a known issue with Moonlight/Sunshine and possibly is affecting the actual FPS on the client end.
I will say that PSPlay is far superior to the official Sony PS5 Remote Play app. Please note that this is an engineering sample and did not have the official Remote Play app installed.
The ABXYLUTE for $199 during the Kickstarter!? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 They can't be serious! At that price your better off buying a RP3+!
It's actually $189 for the 4/32gb model. It's a good deal in some countries, where, for example, the RP3+ in my country is over $250 if you can even get one.

This is really great to hear and I'm looking forward to seeing how the production unit turns out. 🙏
Can you give us an update on joysticks and dpad?
Do you guys know if the built-in keymapper for android game supports inverted controls? (inverted right stick Y-axis) I'm used to playing that way and its a feature missing from the logitech g cloud.
Seriously thinking of backing this, 190$ is a great price compared to the 300$ for the G cloud. I'm keeping an eye on it.
Really nice video and love the teardown like always.
Best part was inserting and removing the SD card, laughed really hard on that part xD
I’ve heard they’ve addressed that issue, so that’s good at least!
Will pass on this one, video quality 11/10. Stubbs 🎉🎉🎉
Getting one of these looking forward to playing on it

Yea, I think for a lot of people this will end up being a good option especially if they are just focused on streaming content.
Rp3+ and the abxylute exist for 2 completely different reasons. They both excel in their area of expertise but are below average in each other's worlds.
It is silly how much the RP3+ is over here in the UK. Most of them sell for over £200, which is a tad much.
Definitely has promise. If they address the issues you pointed out this could be super interesting.
Agreed, I am really hoping they can address the issues in the production unit. Competition is always a good and welcome thing and they are definitely passionate. Now, they just need to follow through and continue to listen to feedback.
Heard that dpad and joysticks have been fixed and updated
you got mentioned on liliputing!

Fantastic review and video, even though I'm all set on handhelds. Definitely surprised by the PSP performance
Agree, I really wasn’t expecting much!

I am not sure if any one asked this question? Sorry if someone has. How did you download the games on the abxylute handheld gaming console? Thank you.

It's a streaming device it doesn't need video out. Whatever you are most likely streaming from already has a tv or monitor. It's not for emulation
@@Jimmys_TheBestCop people like you crack me up.
When is it getting updated to use key mapping that is locked out on handheld? It was promised on update but never happened
Hey Retro Tech Dad, any update on a GCloud dpad fix?
Do you still think the 8bitdo membrane is the best choice?
It's basically a G Cloud Lite.
For its price and purpose, it should have been at least 4G capable.

I’m hoping to see if they can make some of the refinements needed.

If this thing had a stronger processor and a better D-Pad I'd buy it.
Hopefully they address the d-pad because it definitely needs work.
It don't need a better processor because it's made for cloud gaming. Anything Else you can do With it is just a bonus
@@X-reapergaming-X This is what "Streaming Handhelds" somewhat useless.
@@Pridetoons that's your opinion !

plenty of handhelds do that like aya, anbernic, AYN, etc
16:9 at 7 inches makes the difference. Razer Edge is not in the same league
It definitely makes more sense for it’s intended purpose!
so i'd take it that the retroid pocket 3+ is a bit more better for emulation then the abxylute?
I would love a system that can play up to Gamecube. :D
Can you turn off Lights buttos?
Yes, you can turn it off.
@@retrotechdad thx
Why would anyone buy this instead of the odin lite for the same asking price?
There are definitely a lot of choices and competition at this price point.

Y cual es su precio real ??
13-15ms decoding time is no go, worse than my odin lite with 9-10ms decoding time.
It is about 9-10ms, the built-in screen capture is affecting the time as mentioned in the video.
the name itself is ironic lol.
*_At this point just get you the PeakDo mmWave handheld, streaming is trash_* 😭🤷🏽♂️

Well, we spent more $$ on the screen and controls. It's 7" vs. 4.7".
Yea, this is definitely an important consideration for someone who might not have access to certain products.
You cannot compare the 2 screens or speakers. Rp3+ is a terrific emulation device but below avg streaming device.
