    Just want to voice that having a streaming device when you're already the owner of a nice gaming PC is a game changer. I've been using the G Cloud almost every day for 3 months now and lemme tell you what, playing indies I bought 5 years ago curled up in a cozy chair is as good as Switch users make it out to be! Portable, I'm on my RG35XX. At home, it's all about the G Cloud.

    • @80xdplays88

    • @SheeshFr
      @SheeshFr ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@80xdplays88 That's a good question! So it ultimately came down to the G Cloud having a bright, colorful 1080p 16:9 screen, triple the battery life and half the weight. Also I can now play my Steam, GOG, Epic, Game Pass and standalone library anywhere in my apartment... with RayTracing! AND it's got amazing Android emulator support. Everything up to Dreamcast/PSP plays perfectly, Vita and 3DS are getting there AND I can still use Dolphin/PCSX2/RPCS3 streaming on my PC. Not to mention I love modding all the games I play and doing it on a Windows PC streamed to a handheld makes things way easier than figuring out if mods are compatible with the Linux build of a game. Round this all out with the Daijisho front end and boy are things nice.
      So yea, going with the G Cloud was and is still the best option for me. Zero regrets not going with the Steam Deck if only because I already have a beefy gaming rig.

    • @ShootEmUpGood
      @ShootEmUpGood ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Underrated? It's overpriced and under-powered. It's a device produced by a company that saw it's market close, and shelved it; only to be sold off and launched for a quick money grab. It's large screen only accentuates how badly it performs, as it cant even do 6th gen gaming at native. If it had a SD865, then $300-350 would be ok.
      The only way it's "underrated" is that most people stayed away from it at a $350 cost. It's still not worth the $300 it's at now. This price, $200, is all it's worth.

    I have never seen a Gcloud for less than 299. If the Gcloud sells for 250 new, this device is unnecessary. That being said, I have both. I just got the Abxylute so I am still testing, but the final version is very comfortable, more so than the gcloud for me. The Gcloud is a bit bulkier and heavier when playing and I have normal-sized hands. The Abxylute software booted up a lot faster for me (about 28 seconds), so maybe that was tweaked on the retail release. The streaming play is flawless on the Abxylute, pretty much the same as on the Gcloud. I am also not having a problem making easy diagonals and I love the hall sensor triggers as well. I'll give it another few days and I am probably going to sell my Gcloud to a friend for 200 as I actually like the more compact feel of the Abxylute and I don't need two almost identical streaming handhelds. I also prefer Android 12 to Android 11 out of the box.

Yup the Odin would be my preferred option but the price and availability mean it rules itself out.... plus AYN! Proper spacing on the inputs from the screen is really important as well. Anbernic has never done this, always has great spacing from the edge of the device, as well as the screen. In Australia where i am, the median speeds are around 60mbps due to poor infrastructure. I personally get about 50 and i've never been to a friend's home with any better than 90mbps. I've had streaming work in some situations but it's definitely far less reliable here and i imagine in countries like India or Greece with even poorer median speeds, streaming might see mixed results.

    7" or bigger screen, with best in class wifi connection to have zero lag. Even on the Steam Deck when I tested there would be occasional lag thru Chiaki. Not looking to use my phone for this, plus it's only 5" for the screen. This might be the device for me then since the Logitech G Cloud is needlessly expensive. You'll never regret opting for a lot more power and better ergonomics - the same logic as buying a slightly used Lincoln for the price of a basic new Ford.

    For a $200 device, the choice of SoC is incredibly disappointing. They should've gone with perhaps a Dimensity 800 or 900 instead. That might've done better for emulating consoles newer than the Sega Saturn, despite the poorer support with Mali GPU drivers.

    Either the revision for this device improves controls and Ergonomics... or the G-cloud needs hall sticks and a SERIOUS price reduction. If the G-Cloud was under $250... I might have bought one already. At this point though I would rather get an RG405M for the pocket form factor because if the device is as big as the G-Cloud, the ABXY, the RP3+ or the switch... it will need a case.
