    You can turn your poly terrain to a heightfield with heightfield project, but since a heightfield is just heightmap, your tunnels will be gone making the process pointless.
    A compromise is to make holes in your heightfield terrain in Unreal and place your tunnels as meshes.

    Does the houdini heightfield convert to unreal's landscape, where you can further sculpt what you made in houdini inside ue4?

      There's several ways to export it to UE's landscape. If you want to get it as a UE landscape actor, you can refer to method #2 where I demonstrate on the second half of the video. The landscape actor will not be possible to make tunnels through the UE landscape actor though. I haven't tested this on the latest UE version and this video is dated a couple years, please keep that in mind.
      I summarize the 2 methods here: 2:20
      Hope that helps!

    is there a way to export a procedural terrain made in UE4/5 to houdini ? if so instead of exporting as heightfield map could you select an area of intrest and export only that as a polygon mesh to houdini ?

      From what I know (I'm still learning UE) it's not easy exporting everything out of UE, even if you get the landscape mesh out, you'll loose all the materials and all the foilage. Sorry I've never done UE→Houdini, only the other way.

    can HDA support world composition?

    • @bubblepins
      @bubblepins  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never used UE world composition before, but there was an update to Houdini 17 or 18 where now the Heightfields are compatible with UE landscape actors, so it theoretically should? However I never used UE world composition.
      Hope this helps!

      @@bubblepins would u mind to check it out ? - bc i dont wanna learn about heightfield on Houdini if i cant really use it with world composition - since I'm building an open world map

      @@momomadi2 Yeah theoretically it should since HDA's are now compatible with landscape actors. Sorry I don't even know how to open world composition in UE. When you mentioned it in the comments, I had to google it to find out what it was!
