My First Roll of Cinestill 800T at Night | Film Photography in Melbourne

  • I've been wanting to try the Cinestill 800T film out for such a long time and finally I've done it! This was shot over the course of a few weeks in the city and around the areas close to my home and work in the South Eastern suburbs. All photos were shot handheld and at box speed. The cinematic and unique look that it gives is totally my style. In my opinion, it certainly lives up to its hype and I look forward to using this film more in the future. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

    Very moody and atmospheric. You've really captured these urban night scenes so well with the Cinestill 800T film.

    I haven't been back to Australia in nearly two years because of the rona and seeing all of these places (and on Cinestill too!) makes me so nostalgic

    This is my first video! You did a great job! Great editing, great music! I like that there is no talking, but it would also be cool if you did a little voice over here and there to kind of tell the story of what it was like to shoot this roll of film, if you're going to shoot again, and what you would do differently! But still, great vibes, music, images, and overall strong start with CineStill! I'm definitely subscribing :)

    Tammy, you have some very interesting shots w the Cinestill 800 film. Guessing many of your shots are hand-held but if you use a monopod or tripod, you could use a slower shutter speed with a tighter f stop for more depth of field. Shots then would have finer resolution and various signage could be read--which is ultimately what you want to convey--the feeling for viewers to be there. Nice shots and commendable Pentax cam.

    • @TammyChoo
      @TammyChoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the advice Norman! Will definitely try that in the future :)

    • @anzaeria
      @anzaeria 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good points. Though on the other hand, using a slightly faster shutter speed (as in the case here for the hand held photography) reduces motion blur for any people that are moving in the frame. Though of course this comes down to personal preference (if we want motion blur or not.)

    • @rocketeer1012
      @rocketeer1012 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's your recommendation for the aperture?

    • @normandong4479
      @normandong4479 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rocketeer1012 You need to use either meter internal to cam or a hand held meter to make a determination of f stop. In general, shots taken w shutter speed slower than 1/30 second will require a tripod and cable release on shutter. This setup will allow you slower shutter speeds and a tighter f stop

    • @TammyChoo
      @TammyChoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try not to have the shutter speed slower than 1/focal length. But I have gone up to 1/30 and 1/15 whilst leaning onto a tree. Shooting handheld also means you’ll have to shoot wide open so you’re most probably not going to get the sharpest results. If you don’t mind it like me, just go for it!
