- Vespa GTS 300 Touring review. My favourite scooter! It’s another used bike bargain. This scooter has it all, performance, looks and price. At nearly half price from new it certainly qualifies as a used bike bargain. Join me for a look around this bike and then a test ride. Let me know in the comments what you think. #bike #england #motorbike #english #scoot #scooter #scooterday #scooters #scootering #vespa #gts #gillybikes #newbike #bikereview #motorcycle #bikelife #motorcyclereview #review #usedbike #used #usedmotorcycle #usedbikebargain #favorite #sugar #sugarmum #sugarmummy #buy #buynewbike #buyused #bargain #bargainhunting #cc #royalalloy #lambretta #lambchoprides #themissendenflyer #itchyboots #usernamekate #rubyrides#mrfish #tinsontour #44teeth #in2moto

I think Vespa’s are the best scooters out there. They just remind me of my youth. Good times.
Wow that’s a long time ago 😜
I have a GTS 300 after a string of bikes. It’s a revolation, fun , practical, economical . I still feel I’m on the wrong machine for my tribe but it’s a great bike and so much more practical than a motorcycle
They are brilliant. Loads of fun. I really, really want one.
I pull up at the stop light, get some laughs because its just a scooter - THEN - light goes green then the look on their face of shock is priceless.
Absolutely. Unexpected performance. I absolutely love them.
Great scooter had one a few years ago, and it is the one I still miss. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. They are brilliant bikes. 😎
Loved your passion for the Vespa. Unlike heavy open road bikes, smaller auto transmission scooters are really enjoyable in built up areas. Also good luck with the sugar mummy. Cheers from New Zealand.
😂 thanks. I’ve given up on the sugar mummy now.
Such a great video!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks. I just love playing on bikes 😁
I'm 55 years old now in 2024 and I'm ready to go nearly all scooter coming from sport bikes in the 90's, and cruisers now. I seem to gravitate towards my 1986 Honda Elite 250 as "this is nearly all I need" but a 300cc to 500cc would be just right. I had a Burgman 650 and I couldn't mount and dismount it with my bad knee, so I need a step through with easier access. Will look at the 300cc Vespa next...
Definitely worth a look. 😎
I’ve ridden more than 100,000 miles on my Vespas in New Jersey USA
Now that’s some impressive miles but having played on a few on these bikes now I’m not surprised. Brilliant bikes.
My favourite scooter. I absolutely love these.
They are the best
I have a 150 and a 300 GTS…. I just love them and are absolutely amazing…..
Nice. So my question to you is why both? And which one do you use the most?
Living in Sydney Australia, I couldn't agree with you more. I clocked up more k's on my Vespas than all my motorcycles combined. The Vespa 300 hits the sweet spot for a daily city commuter in just about every way... Size, power, handling, ergonomics, comfort, frugality , storage, ease of use and it doesn't look half bad. The icing on the cake is their re-sale value. Buy a good used on and sell it years on for around the same money. Pillions are well accommodated as well, sissy bar/back rest recommended. Gassing it from a stand-still has the potential of ejection 🙃
Great vid what's a comfortable cruising speed
I might buy a gts 300 soon.. for work and to tour
Great bikes you wouldn’t regret it.
The burgundy is fantastic shade of red. Better than the stock Rosso
I really really love dis bike, I duno why? .. Hope someday will have dis too❤🙏
I feel like that too. One day we will both have one 😎
Thank you for your review. Vespa have always been good at providing 2-wheeled town transport, whether it be on 8/10" wheeled two strokes, to the later cvt automatic scooters with 12" wheels. I understand the latest GTS300 models have the best suspension yet.
However, in comparison to what's available from other manufacturers, it doesn't compete. If you want a fast scooter that will cope with dual carriageways and motorways, look to Honda 330cc scooters. There are 3 of these. The SH350 I have currently, has 16" wheels and corners as good as many motor cycles.
As with most products, though, buyers often buy on appearance as main factor. In case you think I'm anti-vespa, I'm not!. I've owned, and enjoyed 3 of them!
I’m with you on that. There are faster and more comfortable scooters out there. Honda, Suzuki, Sym, Zontes, and I’m sure many more make bigger and better bikes. For me though I love the classic looks on the Vespa’s / Lambretta’s and I don’t mind sacrificing speed, tech and comfort for it. The heart wants what the heart wants 👍
That sir is a beauty….. I’d like to know where they got that back rest….
It’s a real beauty. I’m in the dealership tomorrow so I will ask them and let you know. G.
Not feeling the burgundy, pastels all the way , oh and sunshine 😂 Nice though 👍🏻
I’ve forgot what sunshine looks like
I prefer and own the Royal Alloy GP300S although I miss the under seat storage. It has the Piaggio 278cc engine and is sharp in looks and performance although not quite the performance of my Ducati 939!
I like the RA 300’s as well they are brilliant.
Can you please tell me where to buy the back rack wirh back support?
Thagt is a beaiutiful Vespa.
Absolutely gorgeous! The colour is called ROSSO-VIGNOLA
My favourite scoots 😍
@@GillyBikes Mine too now! :)
We have good taste 👍
Have you ridden the new Lambretta V200? Any idea how it compares? Thank you
I’ve been on quite a few 200’s and find them to be a little bit better than the 125’s. But this 300 is in a different league. Lots more power.
The GTS is definitely not the best of the 300cc scooters this model had the leader LC engine which is known for its water pump and cam chain failures, the later model with side mounted radiator is a little better,
I’ve never owned one so I’m just going off my own riding experience and how it looks. Hopefully I can get hold of a new one and compare
Lots of second hand 300s out there. One of those bikes that is bought as a toy and is dumped quick when things get tough for the owner.
True and that’s why there are bargains out there. 😎
@@GillyBikes The nearest Vespa dealer to me has loads in. The 300cc-ish scooter it the perfect bike in many ways. The Honda ADV probably being the best example. As I can't change gears I doubt I will ever get the licence to own one.
I could only get a 2nd hand Vespa or SMax. I may get a new Piaggio or minimoto.
Lots to choose from. I’ve just seen pics of the new MBP scooter. It looks really nice. I Can’t wait to get a go on one.
As a retro its great but not a patch on my SH300i.
🤔 The Vespa wins hands down on the looks department though 😉
I’ve had a, green, gold, blue, burgundy and a very recent red sh300i, I thought they were great, and although the suspension looks the same on them it’s definitely worse on the newer ones. My last red one the suspension was terrible, it is on a lot of new Honda scooters even their premium 350cc scooters. I bought a Vespa 300 gts, and it knocks the socks off all my sh300i. The small wheels which everyone slags off are not a problem, they’re great. The handing of the gts around bends is something else, it almost goes round bends telepathically, I’m not joking it handles bends way better than any bike or scooter I’ve ridden and I’ve ridden a lot. The nimbleness of the handling is also in another league. The suspension on the Vespa and the way it handles bumps is luxurious compared to the Honda line of scooters, it really is, and remember ive had five sh300. You do have to protect certain areas of the Vespa to protect from rust, a bit of under seal etc, but since it’s done, it’s done.
There is no comparison in the Honda sh and Vespa gts. The sh slightly more nippy, but the handling and comfort over the crappy uk roads the Vespa is miles ahead.
What license for these?
smash that like guys
Yes. Smash that 👍. Cheers 😁
Commuter? Around town? Nah, rode from Manchester to Croatia and back on the baby brother 250ie
I absolutely love that. How long did that take you?
@@GillyBikes 2 weeks. One week out, weekend in Croatia and a week back. Aside from an electrical fault, the scoot ran superbly. They're very underrated bikes
They really are underrated. Great bikes.
what year is it?
From memory I think it was 2 years old. I’m pretty certain it sold shortly after this video went out. 😭
@@GillyBikesThanks. It was Gorgeous.
@alxmnslv 100% my favourite scooter 😍
I wouldn’t fancy going any faster than 60 mph on anything with small wheels as small as these . The Maxi styled scooters are more planted & stable . This style of scooter is more suited to 125 - 200 cc engines for the city farty latte cafe set . As looks go it’s a nice classic looking scoot with a modern twist , & scooters have their place in the right environment suburban & city use , wouldn’t fancy it on a motorway for more than the odd short section . Probably ideal around Widnes , Runcorn & Warrington in traffic , Xmas isn’t the best time to flog a used scooter ,but the best time to get a bargain if you got some spare bunce to haggle with . 👍
I thought that myself until I took one on the motorway. They are surprisingly good. You could sit all day at 70mph in comfort. Christmas is a great time to grab a bargain bike. Always good deals as dealers try to generate sales.
@@GillyBikes 70 mph is ok for the odd burst ,but not doing the engine any good at high revs for long periods . That style of scooter doesn’t have the bulk to give it the road presence ,of the longer & wider maxi styled scooters ,like the Hondas ,Yamahas & Suzukis with their fuller fairings & screens ,which are more suited to motorways ,if can’t be avoided . I nearly bought a mint white one from a dealers about 6 years old with only 3,000 miles ,with rack & fly screen a couple of years ago ,but choose to buy the Suzuki DE 250 instead ,when downsizing due to health & age . The Vespa would of been probably more comfortable ,but prefer the larger wheels & full controls of a motorcycle & the larger road presence . Still I expect someone will snap it up & give it a good home ,that dealer seems to have a good choice of machines , I will have to give the gaff a gander ,next time I am up that way .👍
Seriously? Would it/could it sit on the motorway, at motorway speeds, for sustained periods of time, and cope? I am seriously considering buying one of these brand new, but, if I do go ahead and make the purchase, I would like to take it across the Chanel to France, and do some touring. I would greatly appreciate your honest opinion on how it would cope with high speeds for 200 - 300 mile days? Many thanks, Neil.@@GillyBikes
I really can’t answer that because I’ve not done what you’re planning to do. I had a little go on the motorway and found it comfortable but for your own peace of mind you should join a few Vespa Facebook groups and ask owners what they think. I’m sure there will be people on there that have done what you’re planning.
@@neilyplimlook on TH-cam,there's a few channels that ride these 300 Vespas over some distance.
An xmax 300 is better in every way except for the looks imo.. 😂
So is the Burgman 400 except for the looks. 😂
@GillyBikes yes.. the good old burg. Bit more expensive though.. but a solid choice 👍
XMax is a truly outstanding scooter. So comfortable.
hello from Italy. I have the same like that. The colour is not burgundi but ROSSO VIGNOLA. Vignola is a village in Italy fanous for its excellent cherrys
Nice. Some times the Camera doesn’t do the colour justice. You have a great bike. Definitely my favourite scooter 😎
