Great video! Was able to grab the same harness for $55. Mostly definitely will be following the wiring instructions from previous video to get it setup correctly.
You can install the harness and ECU under the hood. Done them in many swaps. The only way you'll get water in them is if you sit there and spray them directly with water.
I would say that would be incorrect unless you never drive in the rain. I have factory GM harnesses here with enough corrosion on the pins that the harnesses are junk, and the Ebay connectors are wide open unlike the sealed GM parts.
If you bought it for a 4L60e watch this and make the repairs, it will be a 4L80 2nd speed sensor harness, otherwise the 60E will have no 3-2 downshift. EBay LS swap $79 harness, how to convert it from LS1 to Vortec and fix the defects. 99-02 Gen 3 DBC th-cam.com/video/GX5VUIgd-rw/w-d-xo.html
Thanks, If you are using the F body alternator, MAF, and IAT then there will not be much to do, but definitely fix the tach wire and trans wire. Good luck with the build!
Why would you keep the original port? If you are using a BCM or other module that ties to the port you will have to figure out that wiring separately, otherwise the original port and wiring would not be needed.
that's just it, the one port that comes with the harness is the one you would use, unless there was something from the original you wanted to keep. The original ECM is not in use anymore so the original port would not be connected to anything unless there were BCM wires or something additional you were trying save. The body harness I used in my current truck build came from an OBD1 computer controlled car and had an OBD1 port, but I cut it out because it was not connected to anything anymore.
Just saw that when going over the harness connections on the floor I called the first throttle body connector the IAT, I meant IAC (idle air control).

@rust_hoarder_garage I drive plenty in the rain and spray the engine bay down with a hose here and there. No issues but to each their own.
Agreed, your car so totally up to you how you do the work, hope it continues to work out for you.
Good morning sir!!!! Very good info sir. She is coming along and looking awesome!!!
Thank you, she is getting there!
It makes ya smile when you crank a Ls for the first time in something it didn’t come in . Lol
First start is always fun, that much closer to hitting the road 👍
I just received this harness from JY Performance and there was a separate two wire pigtail in the box. do you know what this is for?

@rust_hoarder_garage thank you!
@@rust_hoarder_garage Ironically its for a 5.3 in an F body so some changes I will have to make and some I might not. your videos are great.

@@rust_hoarder_garage Thank you.
Did your harness not come with wiring for the oil pressure sensor?
No, it is not needed for the engine to run.
Can you use the truck ecu with this dbc harness or would i have to get the ecu from a ls1 camaro.
99-02 truck pcm is the same as 99-02 LS1, just different tune.
Yes sir brother!!! In there it usually says for trouble shooting call PSI lol!!!!! And their phones number!!! That's funny.
Yeah copying someone else's manual is ridiculous, not like it would be rocket science to make their own.
@rust_hoarder_garage I know right??!!! Lol that's crazy and lazy!!!
I got it started but it dies immediately after I’m getting no gas fuel pump
Primes but sends no fuel through the line
VATS disables the injectors, has to be turned off in the tune.
Good morning sir
Morning! Hope you have a good one.
how do you wire the ob2 port with the original port?
For example, im running this exact same harness on a obs chevy, i tied the two serial data wires and plugged it into the ecu

@ i just wanted only one port, but thank you for your response
