I do the same Susan. I’ve made 2 of Donna’s patterns and will be starting a 3rd one soon. The video is always my reference point. Sometimes I watch it several times to make sure I don’t mess up.
Cannot agree more - however I did have an Australian lady pop up in my feed recently - she goes QAYG - very good teacher also - pattern pool tv TH-cam if interested
I am German and love to watch your videos. You explain eyerything so clearly, I have no problems to unterstand. Wonderful (wunderbar). Thank you. (Danke). You are a great teacher.
This is perfect Donna - I have been cutting 2 1/2” strips out of lots of donated leftovers from old friends. I can’t wait to get started. Especially as I have redesigned my sewing room & built a cutting table out of cubed shelving to suit. Widowed 6 months - “When you are feeling low - then sew sew sew!”. Thankyou for your inspiration & teaching.
God Bless, Yvonne. I too was widowed at the age of 45. Quilting helped ease the pain, and it exercised my creative spirit. Keep sewing, Girl. Wishing you happier days ahead and many beautiful quilts ❤
@@lindsayschilling8707 similar to you both. I'm 45 now, was 43 when my spouse passed. I've felt lost for so long, trying to find my own purpose again, and something I am passionate about. I love these videos as well. @Yvonne Koppen - I love your little quote...
So sorry for your loss. I'm happy that you found quilting to be a source of comfort. I've never heard that saying, "when you are feeling low..." but it's "sew" true! LOL! TFS.
When I became a widow 7 years ago, I found quilting was my way out of depression. Still miss him terribly, but the pain is not as intense as it was. Quilt teachers like Donna, Jenny, and Eleanor all helped me through some very dark days. We were married for 52 years. This year I will be 77.
The Scrappy quilt is my favorite. Love the palette and dark accents. The quilt combines both vintage and contemporary elements in a pleasing way. Well done, Donna.
Oh wow, I never would have thought to put all those different fabrics together, but I love the result! It's so bright and cheery. The scrappy one is definitely my favorite.
Donna, I love both the quilts so much, but the scrappy quilt reminds me of an antique quilt which I love. Thanks so much for all your help in making these quilts. At 72 I just recently made my first quilt for a friend in the Nursing Home. Wish I would have started this much earlier in my life. Now getting ready to make a crib quilt for our new great grandbaby coming in July. Once again, many thanks for your inspiration and getting me started on a new venture in my life. ♥
I like the jelly roll one as it does all go together, BUT I think I'll be doing the scrappy one as I need to use them up. They are taking over. 😜. Always look forward to your tutorials, they are so easy to follow. You make it all look so easy and doable. Thank you.😊
Again, another beautiful quilt, and I can’t believe the number of scraps you used. Lots of ladies are using scraps, or showing us how to use them, but this one seems so easy. I can’t wait to get started. You are the BEST instructor. I like them both for different reasons. I am getting a list ready to order from you, but I don’t own a computer so it’s harder for me. If your children are still videoing and editing, they are doing a fabulous job. They make you look even better than you are. You and Matt are doing such a wonderful job for the quilting world. Thank you so much!!!
Scrapy has my vote. Already have long strip of 2.5" pieces. Was going to be scrappy bindings, changed my mind. Long enough to bind 4 queen quilts. Now to select accents and start cutting down my strip into sections. Thanks for the wonderful pattern.
What a great pattern! I love the scrappy version of this quilt, but must admit that watching your videos is not helping me decrease the number of unfinished projects on my list. I want to start a new quilt every day. Thanks for all the great inspiration!
I loved both types. Scrappy reminds me of Grandma's quilts. She would use scraps of our clothes. The jelly roll quilt is more sophisticated and so beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Donna, I like both quilts. My favorite is the Scrappy quilt! I have been wondering what to do with all of my scraps and this pattern is perfect. I'm fairly new at quilting and have been going back and watching all of your videos. I want to thank you for your inspiration and talent. I am learning a lot from your tutorials.💜
Great pattern and I can't wait to print it off and start pulling my scraps. Donna you are wonderful!!! We are lucky to have you!!! Happy sewing!!! Laurie
Donna, I made your scrap quilt using low volume to medium scraps and some purple fabric scrap squares I bought at a thrift shop! My scraps ranged from the 1930s to present time. I picked one scrap to use as the focal or design fabric and then just started pulling anything that had close to the same colors. Oh my gosh it is one of my favorite quilts I have ever made! I did make one small change. I extended the width by finishing off the last half square triangle to make it whole. I then added 4" more (in total) scraps on each side. This 4" was sometimes made up of more than one scrap. I love the way you use ALL the scraps you pull! Thank you for this tutorial!
I like both versions of this quilt. Thanks, Donna, for another free pattern and great tutorial! I noticed a little bit of a 3-d illusion (like tumbling blocks) in the jelly roll quilt, probably because there was more contrast between the strips. That was interesting. I will probably make the scrap version, however, because it looks like a great way to use up a lot of assorted scraps, especially pre-cut leftovers!
That's exactly what I saw in the jelly roll one. Loved this tutorial and will probably be making one of each because I have too many scraps AND too many jelly rolls (which are addictive to stash)!
I like both versions, but the scrappy one reminds me of my grandma's quilts. She raised 11 children, and after the last few came along, all the hand-me-downs were pretty worn, so grandma would cut up the clothes and make quilts. With time and wear, most of the scraps were fairly light colored. Thank you Donna and crew for a trip down memory lane with this quilt. I bet this design would look just as great if all dark scraps were used with a light accent. Keep the wonderful tutorials coming. I love them all !!!!
I love them both Donna. I wasn’t sure how you were going to pull it together but the scrappy quilt turned out beautifully. Thanks for sharing. I learn so much with each tutorial.
I like the Jelly Roll quilt best because it has a 3-D look depending on how you look at it. I also love those Bright colors! Donna, you are absolutely the BEST teacher! Thank you so very much for helping us all achieve our Quilting goals!
That's a hard choice! I like them both!!! For different reasons. I'm a novice, and I really appreciate your video. It helps me understand. I am a visual learner. Thank you so very much!
I like the scrappy one. I was thinking about doing something very similar as I was going through all of my scraps this afternoon. Great quilting minds think alike. Thanks Donna!
Of course, I love both! The scrappy is my favorite only because it reminds me of the look of quilts of my childhood. The bolder strips of the other quilt have a 3D visual quality to it which is really nice. All of the quilts you make are stunning! And, I love watching your tutorials as you inspire me to try new things! You are fabulous at teaching and instilling confidence to those who are newer to the quilting world like me! Thank you so much!!!
Love, love, love the scrappy quilt. Now I know what to do with scraps from quilts I made for my 9 grandchildren. It will be interesting to see if they recognize the prints from their quilts. So excited to make this. Thanks Donna, I love your tutorials and patterns!
I love all your tutorials! You’re easy to follow and everything you create is beautiful. It’s hard to choose between the jelly roll and scrappy quilt as both are gorgeous, but if I had to choose it will be the scrappy quilt. Both are absolutely gorgeous and the drunkards path is also supreme. Thank you Donna and Matt!
My fairy quilting mother saves the day! I need this so bad. I finally organized my leftover jelly roll strips and found that I probably have enough for 3 quilt tops. I'm so ready to bust that stash and this will be perfect for me.
There is no such thing as "too scrappy"! That is by far my favorite, although I wouldn't refuse the quilt made with Jelly rolls. This is a perfect quilt to start the new year off and use some of the left-overs from last year. You are such an innovative teacher and have such great ideas! Thanks for sharing your ideas and talents.
Donna you are one of my FAVORITE quilt people. The “free patterns and demos” are perfect for many of the quick easy charity quilts I make and give to foster children, cancer patients or anyone else I find that needs or will take them. Please know that I am grateful for you sharing your talents and know you are impacting many more than you know.❤️
Such a brilliant idea!!! You explain it so well, especially folding the seams to either left or right…. bang on. I loved both the quilts you showed today. I guess the jelly roll quilt would look wonderful as a tapestry and the other one will be too good to snuggle!!
I love how this pattern looks so different when you used the two fabric choices. The jelly roll version appears almost 3D, which is a very interesting effect. My favourite though is the scrappy version, I love scrappy quilts. Thank you again for another wonderful video.
I LOVE the scrappy quilt! Thank you for the pattern. And thank you especially for the pressing suggestions. Wouldn’t this be fun in black/white strips with red accents! You are a great teacher!
Donna, you are such a great instructor! You explain every step so thoroughly and make it look so easy! Thank you ! Both quilts are beautiful, I like the scrappy one best!
I love the scrappy versiOn. Great way to use all those leftover binding strips as well as trimmings from quilt backings. Think this pattern would be perfect for charity quilts!
I love the scrappy quilt. I never would have thought to put all my scrap pieces together and make a quilt this pretty. Thank you so much for sharing this quilt and pattern. I’m going to start trimming my scraps into 2.5” pieces! 😃
Your scrappy quilt looks amazing! Just watching how you just picked leftover pieces and make this beautiful quilt was very inspiring. I really like it very much. I find i need to make a list of quilt patterns you have presented that I intend to make. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. You inspire us!
Love this pattern for scraps, Donna. This looks like old fashioned quilts used to look...made completely with scraps. Thanks for giving us another creative pattern!
Love the vibrant colors of the jellyroll version, but also LOVE the way the scrappy version really can use any and all types of scraps with the unifier being the accent diamonds! Thanks for another great tutorial!
Pauline Strickland I really like the scrappy look. I have watched many of your videos and have learned and enjoyed them. Thank you and your husband so much.
The purples, pinks, and reds with black are my favorite colors. But of the two, I’m really drawn to the scrappy more. Thank you so much for designing a quilt to use up scrap fabrics. I love the accent diamonds in it that breaks up all the scrappiness.
I honestly love both for different reasons. The scrappy one reminds me of something you would see from 1890s while the Jelly Roll one looks like either a desert sunset or geometeric.
scrappy definitely scrappy you are one of my favorite quilting teachers thank you for all the work that you do to teach us all of the options for each project that you demo for us very much appreciated for sure !!!!! :)
Donna you are so talented! I have to say I love them both , Each are a Totally different vibe !! You’re tips and teaching are so precise and pleasant to follow , thank you ! 😁👌
Scrappy for sure is my favorite, I’ve been looking for an easy way to put all my scraps together for a picnic blanket, or a car blanket. This will be going on my “to sew list” 👍
After a fun filled and busy day in my sewing room, I get to sit with my hand sewing and watch you. You are my treat. I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for sharing this video!
thank you Donna! Love how you present your instructions. Always easy to understand! I love BOTH quilts but if I had to chose, i prefer the random scraps as the colors are easier on the eyes!
This is a great idea for scraps; thanks! I like both quilts very much. The one from the jelly roll has a 3-D stair effect going on; it looks really cool! The scrappy quilt is just so fresh looking and happy! The blue accent brings it all together into a cohesive piece. This is going on my to-do list for 2023 since I am totally booked up for 2022!
I love both. The jellyroll quilt almost has a 3D effect of square pillars with the accent diamond being the top of the pillar. Not so obvious in the scrappy quilt, but still gorgeous.
Absolutely LOVE the Scrappy Quilt! Thank you Donna for all your great tips & techniques to build patchwork. I have sewn some that I thought I would never be able to manage. I really appreciate the entire Jordan family's effort to bring the love of quilting to so many of us.
Thank you, Donna, Matt, and your staff. I am always amazed at how you manage to choose your materials. Both versions of the "Scrappy quilt" are great. I like them both. I also love your tutorials and how detailed they are. I must mention too just how great that camera person is. The camera always seems to capture those close-ups when needed. A lot of my learning is from repetition and sight and your videos do just that. Thank you so much. I wish you and yours many, many more successful years ahead.
I love the scrappy version of the quilt! I’m definitely going to use this pattern to use up some of my stash of scraps. I think it would also work with a large pane, by cutting it into strips. Thank you for the free pattern, Donna! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
I’m only just embarking on my quilting journey. I love how easy these quilts are to make, with such a beautiful result. I think my favourite is the scrappy one. 🌷
I have watched this video several times and I still can not pick a favorite! I love how the jelly roll one with the black accent looks 3-dimensional but I also like how the scrappy one reminds you of previous projects. Guess I'll just have to make one of each and try to decide then!! Thanks for your clear and easy to follow instructions and hints for ironing :)
O.K., this is the 3rd time I've watched this vid: I Love scrappy quilts, and I REALLY love this one! I started cutting a bunch of strips this afternoon, and I tend to lean towards blues & greens (at least for this quilt). I will be adding plenty of low volume strips, as it will set off the blues/green values. Now, the accent fabric (?). I do have a medium royal blue that is a tone on tone print (a gorgeous brilliant royal blue) that may very well be the accent fabric. I can't wait to get started! Donna, thank you for your inspirational videos; and gigantic thanks for making them easy to understand for the beginner & advanced quilter. Big hugs to the whole crew, from an artist & quilter in Sacramento, California ❤
I love the scrappy version the best. Maybe my huge pile of 2 1/2" scrap strips has been clamoring for attention; I am going to get started on this project this weekend. Thanks for the easy tutorials!
I love the scrappy quilt! You are so talented. Thank you for sharing your skills with us. You have been an inspiration to me for years now. I’m so glad I found your TH-cam videos. 💕
I love the binding on this one….it simply frames the quilt and makes it really stand out. Also love the pattern and the use of scraps. It’s brilliant Donna.💕
I cannot find anyone who teaches and presents as well as you do! I watch and learn, download your patterns and watch again. Thank you!
My favourite is the scrappy-quilt. It's really really nice!
My favorite is the scrappy quilt but I also really like the 3-dimensional look with the jelly roll quilt.

Yes, Great idea! You could use jeans (as long as they’re not too heavy) for the accent fabric.)
I like the scrappy version the best.

The jelly roll quilt has an almost 3D look, both quilts look brilliant and are a neat way to remember past projects
Yes, my eyes saw a 3d effect too.
One of the most fun quilts I've ever made! Love using scraps even more than new fabric, and this pattern is perfect!

THE SCRAPPY IS MY FAVORITE. Your videos are excellent and you’re very generous with the free patterns and quilts that you give. God bless you.
Such a brilliant idea!!! You explain it so well, especially folding the seams to either left or right…. bang on. I loved both the quilts you showed today. I guess the jelly roll quilt would look wonderful as a tapestry and the other one will be too good to snuggle!!

My favorite is the SCRAPPY quilt. I do like the jelly roll and the vibrant colors, but scrappy wins this time. :)
I absolutely LOVE the scrappy one. Every quilter has a variety of scraps and that pattern is perfect!
It really does look beautiful! Love it ! Such a fabulous idea!
I like the scrappy 0ne..
I LOVE the scrappy quilt! Thank you for the pattern. And thank you especially for the pressing suggestions. Wouldn’t this be fun in black/white strips with red accents! You are a great teacher!
Yes ... scrappy in black/white/gray fabrics with red accents! GREAT idea!!
I love the scrappy quilt. I am finally able to use the boxes and boxes of scraps I have. Thanks for teaching this, Donna!
What a terrific pattern! Scraps can get overwhelming and this pattern makes them easy to use! Thank you, Donna!💕💕
Donna, you are such a great instructor! You explain every step so thoroughly and make it look so easy! Thank you !
Both quilts are beautiful, I like the scrappy one best!
Both quilts are incredible! The accents raises the bar for classy! As a result, the scrappy one doesn’t look scrappy! Both are adorable!
I love the scrappy versiOn. Great way to use all those leftover binding strips as well as trimmings from quilt backings. Think this pattern would be perfect for charity quilts!
Love the scrappy version - what a great use for all of the pieces left over from projects. Thank You, Donna for making these projects so "do-able".
Donna, You are brilliant. And an extraordinary teacher. Thank you for you generosity. 🌺
I love the scrappy quilt. I never would have thought to put all my scrap pieces together and make a quilt this pretty. Thank you so much for sharing this quilt and pattern. I’m going to start trimming my scraps into 2.5” pieces! 😃
Love both. The jelly roll quilt looks 3D, love the scrappy one as something different for my scraps. Thanks for the great ideas
Scrappy is my favorite. I really like it.❤
The jelly roll original has a terrific 3D effect, and it gives me ideas of how to lay out a scrappy quilt with the same type of effect. Great ideas!
I love the scrappy quilt and I can see myself diving into my ever growing scrap pile to make at least one of these.
I love the scrappy version. It's warm and comfy looking.
Both are just beautiful! The vibrant colors of the jelly roll just pop! And the scrappy version is so calming. I really like both! Thanks, Donna.
Your scrappy quilt looks amazing! Just watching how you just picked leftover pieces and make this beautiful quilt was very inspiring. I really like it very much. thank you Donna! Love how you present your instructions. Always easy to understand! I love BOTH quilts but if I had to chose, i prefer the random scraps as the colors are easier on the eyes!
Scrappy, definitely. I didn’t think I would when you were piecing the strips, but it came out beautiful!
I did not get to this quilt in 2023 but I still have it on my to-do list and have even more scraps to work with!
I really like the scrappy. It reminds me of what my grandma did to make her double wedding ring quilts. She went to her scrap bag to cut the pieces.
I love both. The jellyroll quilt almost has a 3D effect of square pillars with the accent diamond being the top of the pillar. Not so obvious in the scrappy quilt, but still gorgeous.
It is like picking one child over the other. I like them both for their personalities. They each bang their own drum.
Absolutely LOVE the Scrappy Quilt! Thank you Donna for all your great tips & techniques to build patchwork. I have sewn some that I thought I would never be able to manage. I really appreciate the entire Jordan family's effort to bring the love of quilting to so many of us.
Donna you are such a great teacher. I'm learning so much from your videos. 👍🏾
Scrappy is my favorite. Appreciate your lessons & patterns.
Jelly roll
I love the scrappy version of the quilt! I’m definitely going to use this pattern to use up some of my stash of scraps. I think it would also work with a large pane, by cutting it into strips. Thank you for the free pattern, Donna!

I love the vibrancy of the jelly roll quilt. Thank you Donna for your expertise in instructing the "whys" and "wherefores" of your "everything".
I adore the scrappy version. Your videos are so inspiring! THANK YOU so much for sharing with us all!
I’m only just embarking on my quilting journey. I love how easy these quilts are to make, with such a beautiful result. I think my favourite is the scrappy one. 🌷
I really prefer the jelly roll. I think it is more the colours than anything else.
I do love the shade of blue on the Scrappy quilt.
The jelly roll quilt has won my heart, I absolutely love the colours and have bought the same jelly roll to recreate it exactly. Winner, winner 🥰
I love them both! This would be a great scrap buster and I think that's what I'll try first. Thank you for sharing!!
Great pattern Donna! I've been trying to use my scraps this year as they are getting out of control. This is perfect!
I love the scrappy version the best. Maybe my huge pile of 2 1/2" scrap strips has been clamoring for attention; I am going to get started on this project this weekend. Thanks for the easy tutorials!
I looove the scrappy one 😍 send you a warmt hello from Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia, stay safe and stay healthy dear!😊
I’m not a “scrappy” quilt person but I love this quilt! Definitely my favorite of the two. Thanks for this! I enjoy all of your videos 💖😁
I love the scrappy quilt! You are so talented. Thank you for sharing your skills with us. You have been an inspiration to me for years now. I’m so glad I found your TH-cam videos. 💕
Thank you Donna I do like the way you teach it’s so easy and simple and I love it I watch your utube all the time
I love both, great examples of endless possibilities on how the pattern can turn out!
I love the binding on this one….it simply frames the quilt and makes it really stand out. Also love the pattern and the use of scraps. It’s brilliant Donna.💕
